She could hear the others concern about her condition continue and paused for a moment. Glancing over, Tevini extended her hand.

“I don’t know what it can do for internal bleeding but if it’ll make you feel better, here.” Tevini accepted the ancient bandaid and opened it. She slapped it on her forehead as if to highlight the ridiculousness of the action. Grumpy from her private thoughts and general headache now, the girl then began walking once more.

Sascha investigates the corridor... And finds zombies!

HP: 11/20

Trinkets:
1/3 Defense Style A: 2 damage is detracted from last incoming attack.

Standard nosebleed. Some darkening around the sclerae, but nothing unnatural. Sascha tried to move Tevini's hair to see her ears, but she jerked away. She was at least fine enough to protest. Sascha leveled a stare at her, but remained in place. He wasn't about to chase her on his knees. "Looks like average overload symptoms. I'd recommend rest, but under our current time constraint, that's probably more dangerous. I'd be surprised if you could use your telekinesis at all after a show like that anyway."

Sascha stood back up as Tevini marched away. He dusted his knees superficially. He turned around only to be confronted with the image of Tevini with a band-aid slapped across her forehead. Sascha laughed outright. "That's a good look! We should stock those at the research center." Sascha paused as a thoughtful look passed his face. "Yo, if you want to take that show on the road... There are people at the Chittentown SRDPSL who'd be interested in your work. People I know." Now that Sascha knew what Tevini was capable of, he wondered why hadn't she sought formal training? She was so intent on understanding the helmsmanning process back in his block...

The familiar sound of shambling broke Sascha from his thoughts. "s**t. Put a pin in that. We've got more daywalkers inbound."

Cerpin is very upset and doesn't notice 8 zombos
8/16 advances
2/3 minibosses defeated

Red pooled on the floor and Cerpin's world suddenly felt very very small. Sascha took Tevini's face into his hands and examined it carefully.

No. Stay away from her.

Etsali and Sascha were saying words but he wasn't making them out. He could only focus on his partner with blood smeared across her skin. The powers were pushing her body to its limits and if she wasn't careful, she could be on the floor unconscious next time. Or worse, dead. His body shook slightly from a bad mixture of fear and anger. Jealousy? Whatever it was, it was uncomfortable and spread across his chest like a heavy weight. Tevini pulled away to bandage herself and he huffed in frustration. She needed to rest. She needed to leave. He needed to get her out of here. But he couldn't. They had to complete this mission or it could jeopardize having somewhere to go back to.

Sascha continued chattering towards Tevini about a different world he could whisk her away to and Cerpin stepped in between them, glaring intensely at the yellowblood.

He couldn't. It wasn't fair. She couldn't-

"She's not going. She doesn't need your help- And don't touch her again!" His voice was harsh and he couldn't contain his irritation. Oblivious to the daywalkers that had been pointed out, Cerpin opted instead to give Sascha a forceful shove against the wall. A glittering portfolio of himself on a national stage, a promising military career to the moons and back, psionic powers that gave him much more power than the average troll. Sascha had so much already.

He couldn't have her too.

Etsali gave a smaller, more genuine smile at the sight of the bandaid now splayed across Tevini's forehead. She was still concerned, and maybe she was going to have to be paying more attention to what people said about telekinetic powers now, but the redblood seemed to be doing alright for the moment. The boys, on the other hand...

"I don't think now's the best time." She said drily, reaching for a new kunai and turning towards the oncoming zombies. She didn't know what exactly was going on there, but really?

Sascha's words both excited and scared her. He thought she was decent enough to introduce? Even though her body ached and she felt increasingly uncomfortable about him, the recognition gave her a boost of self esteem. She'd accomplished her goal of getting his approval. On the flip side, she wasn't sure what to do about his offer. Tevini had done everything in her power to stay off the grid. Going to the Chittentown SRDPSL... it was a big step. She wasn't sure what the safest route for moving forward from this point would be. She didn't have much time to think about this though, as suddenly Cerpin lost his mind.

“Wh-what are you doing?!” Tevini didn't understand. Startled she reached towards Cerpin to pull him off, only for Etsali's chiding to catch her attention. Daywalkers! She was right, this wasn't the time for them to fight each other! Pulling out her gun, Tevini joined Etsali in the battle, confused at how to handle the situation. Was Cerpin jealous because Sascha had been paying her attention? A pit formed in her stomach at the thought. She'd been trying to fix her resolve about the situation when the yellowblood had done that. After the conversations she'd had with both of them, she knew what the eventual outcome would be.

It hurt.

The grip on her gun tightened as she fired off more rounds to protect them. She told herself it was all she could do at the moment- they were under attack! But truthfully, the distraction was a relief. For once in her life, despite all of her techniques- the paranoia that caused her to analyze every possible outcome... Tevini didn't know what to do.

Sascha had been mid-turn towards the approaching zombies when Cerpin cut him off. "Excuse me?!" Sascha interjected, too surprised to sound properly angry. That changed when Cerpin shoved him. A shocked Sascha stumbled into the wall behind him. He merely gaped at Cerpin. He didn't even register that Etsali or Tevini had said anything. Sascha was seeing red. Literally his eyes darkened at the corners as confusion gave way to frustration.

"What the hell... What the HELL is your PROBLEM!?" Sascha roared, pushing off the wall and into Cerpin's face. He may have lacked any height advantage on Cerpin, but Sascha possessed a fair amount of bulk. He pushed Cerpin back and the two ended up in an adjacent store room.

Cerpin is checking the hallway

Etsali and Tevini wiped the hallway clean of daywalkers but the fight was far from over. The orangeblood couldn't have been more right in her assessment of the lack of an appropriate time and place but things had spiraled into motion too quickly to stop them now.

Cerpin growled as Tevini shrieked at him, his attention diverted towards the redblood long enough for Sascha to slam him through the door to the storage room. He kept his eyes on the yellowblood and the two held onto each other's arms in a tense grappling pose with neither interested in giving up.

"You are! You're my problem-" He snarled and the two went flying around the room again, knocking loose a crate from some storage shelves. "You piece of s**t, I'm not letting you take her to some research lab to end up like you!" There was so much more behind this fight than that but this truthfully was one of the major fears coursing through the purpleblood at the moment.

Tevini could walk away from the rebellion at any time to take Sascha up on his offer. She'd cleared her record. And now had impressed a powerful ally who could take her much further much faster to the stars than Cerpin could do himself. The thought of that scared him to his very core. Everything they'd worked on together could be snatched away by that arrogant cocky smile.

She'd left him once before.

"If that fancy lab is so great, how come you can't use your ******** powers without ******** bleeding all the time?!" He aimed a low hit at Sascha's stomach and at his pride.

ETSALI LOOTS feral gerbils

Etsali let out a heavy sigh. Zombies down, corridor clear, and yet here they still were. The thief stepped into the room after Sascha and Cerpin, determined to make the most of their little side stop. Nothing on this side of the room, though. She side-stepped to allow the fight to carry on past her, head tilting as she listened but eyes still on the look for loot.

She'd been about to give the search up when she heard it. Had she imagined...no, there it was again. Some sort of squeaking! She knew that sound! A quick trip over to the box the brawl had jarred and she had her prize. And a fair distraction from this nonsense. She lifted the box and stood, eyeing the two trolls before the opportune moment came to shoulder her way in between them without getting punched for her efforts.

"Hold this." She deposited the box in Sascha's arms, then reached in to hold aloft one very fluffy gerbil. Sure, they'd all seen plenty of space gerbils by now, but these were better. "Found some live ones! Still warm and all!" She shoved a cute one towards Cerpin's face and only just pulled her hand back a little before it took a bite of his nose.

"So how about you continue that conversation in a way that lets us keep walking and appreciate the only survivors on this whole death ship, yeah?" She looked from Cerpin to Sascha, narrowed her eyes. "She's got enough of a headache already anyway, you know. Don't go giving me one too."

Sascha's gloved fingertips dug into Cerpin's biceps as they stood face to face. Cerpin used their locked position to spin Sascha, knocking him against the shelves. A disoriented Sascha struggled to keep up with the nonsense Cerpin was shouting at him.

"The ever-loving ******** are you talking about, Cerpin!? Like me!? Like me!? I'm the most prominent trained helmsman of this dynasty! I brought Chittentown the information that rebuilt lost space-faring technology! I'M A GODDAMN CELEBRITY!"

Sascha refused to let go of Cerpin. If anything he dragged the other man in closer. "You don't know anything about anything," he hissed. "A nosebleed ain't got s**t on what I could do to you."

A box appeared in Sascha's vision, blocking his view of Cerpin. He let go of the purpleblood in surprise as the box dropped down on top of his arms. Like he'd been broken out of a trance, he turned his nose up at Cerpin entirely. He had more pressing issues than whatever the hell Cerpin's deal was. He set the box down on a nearby shelf and left the room.

"She's right. We've got more important things to be doing. If you're not going to help, you can go wait back on the shuttle."

The jealousy in Cerpin boiled hotter and hotter as Sascha boasted his accomplishments straight in the purpleblood's face. The claws that dug into him were nothing compared to the painful stabs each statement made. Etsali cut the two of them apart and Cerpin looked away from the group moodily. He didn't like being told to shut up. He never had. His eyes flickered to Tevini, the other source of his frustration. Of course she hadn't stepped in to stand up for him. She was probably already jumping ship by now. His insecurities continued to spiral out of control as he was unable to speak freely about them with Sascha around.

"Maybe I will. I'm not important like his Royal Majesty, Emperor of the Skies. I have no business attempting this mission with my meager skills." Cerpin growled, full of self pity and self importance. Logically he knew this was not the right time for this. They were on a section of the flagship trying to keep it from plunging onto the face of Alternia. But to a man that had been groomed since birth to find himself the center of attention and of high status in any situation, getting tossed to a back burner was more insulting than he could bear. Cerpin had grown up a lot since joining the rebellion but he still had so far to go. He turned down the hallway away from the group, storming towards the sounds of something shuffling. He wondered if Tevini would follow or not.

It was a test.

Why was he doing this? Why was everything falling apart?

"Stop it!" Tevini tried to interject. Her words didn't reach, however. Sascha wasn't one to take Cerpin's tirades the way she'd learned how to handle them. Tevini bit her lip as they screamed at each other. She wasn't naive enough to think this was part of a plan to flirt with Sascha. So why was her partner purposefully aggravating him- picking a fight? He knew to behave better than this, even if he sometimes lashed out for attention. Something was seriously wrong.

Why was he so fixated on the lab?

"Hey-" Etsali attempted to interrupt the brewing conflict and for a moment it seemed like it might work. Sascha's anger didn't seem to have subsided but he'd snapped back to reality. They couldn't fight here. There were already enough creatures trying to kill them. Hell- the ship was trying to! The deadline loomed in her mind, each moment was one second closer to certain doom. Cerpin, however, wasn't one who liked dropping things to pick back up later. He felt his emotions strongly, they weren't something he could cast off as quickly. Her heart froze as Sascha told him to leave. It broke when Cerpin did.

"Don't." Tevini turned to Sascha, her eyes blazing. She wasn't stupid enough to slap him but she was angry enough grab his shirt. "Don't hurt him." Her grip trembled and she let go, backing towards the direction Cerpin had stormed off.

"Don't give up on him." Her eyes implored him. "Please."

She knew Cerpin had crossed a line. They'd both flung what heavy words they could at each other. She didn't know how to make it better yet but she wouldn't let them quit before they'd even gotten started. Cerpin obviously cared about Sascha even if he was going crazy right now. Maybe that was even related somehow. The redblood scanned his face quietly for a moment, taking him in. She swallowed. And then turned to follow Cerpin. She needed to bring him back.

"Stop! Cerpin-" She ran, desperate to catch up before he turned a corner and disappeared into the vast halls of the ship. He'd gotten further than she expected and she was out of breath by the time she caught him. Reaching forward, Tevini grabbed his shoulder and yanked, tugging him back.

"Wa-it." She huffed, struggling to speak and breath at the same time. Her head rang again, blood filling her ears. Her body shook from exertion, not recovered from the fights or the run. Even so, she'd come. Her frustrated eyes looked into his unreadable expression.

"Are you going to tell me what the hell's going on?"

Cerpin left. Cerpin actually left. Sascha thought he'd hallucinated the receding footsteps. Tevini grabbed his shirt, though, and he turned around. The purpleblood had already rounded the corner. Sascha looked down at Tevini, expression similarly troubled.

He'd be lying if he said he understood what Tevini meant. Sascha was still the commander of the mission, and they were still in great peril. He had no business actually causing harm to Cerpin. Tevini looked too distraught to argue with, so Sascha merely nodded his head. He knew he was missing something. Unfortunately there was already too much to deal with without involving subtext.

Tevini released Sascha and ran off. Sascha started at that. He hadn't expected Cerpin to leave, much less for Tevini to follow him.

Erratic footsteps echoed down the hall. Sascha threw a look over his shoulder to confirm his suspicions. More daywalkers were coming down the line. With the group split down the middle, neither half would survive. Sascha hissed. "Faithe! We need to fall back and regroup." Already half-jogging, Sascha took off in the direction Tevini and Cerpin had gone.

Sascha does 0 damage!

Relief flooded through Cerpin as he felt her hand yank hard on his shoulder. She had come. It was a petty childish test to put her through but after their earlier separation, he'd felt as if she was just waiting for an opportunity to leave. He'd lashed out to make himself the villain to see if she would take that chance or not. To think there was a troll that constantly saw him at his worst and still wanted to stay was incredible. He didn't know what it was that made her stick around but he was grateful for whatever it was.

"I thought you'd want to go with him." He mumbled awkwardly in explanation. "To that research lab. It'd be a lot safer than sticking with me. I was scared to lose you again." His eyes looked up from the floor to meet her's. It was embarrassing to admit he'd been afraid. It was another confirmation of something he'd been avoiding thinking about lately. He needed her in so many ways. She was his partner in this dangerous space race as well as his first friend. And beyond that, she was starting to occupy more and more of his thoughts. Seeing her look at Sascha with that flustered expression had set off some territorial instinct in him. The same instincts were kicking in now as daywalkers shuffled towards them. Cerpin raised his blade and cut through them with a slow heavy slash.

"I'm sorry, Vee. I just- lost control. I'm sorry." He'd lost control of a lot of things. He could tell his team mates were getting fed up of these dramatics. He needed to reign it in or he could jeopardize the entire mission as well as their identities. Cerpin ran a hand through his bangs and let out a breath. Sometimes he wished he was more like Tevini, able to bottle things up and run away from them. It'd be a lot cleaner than smashing through everything and making a mess the way he always did.

"He just frustrates me so much! But I'll stop arguing. I'll be quiet. We'll finish this without any more trouble." Her eyebrows raised in that frustrated upset manner he was used to seeing but he shook his head stubbornly. He was trying to compromise here. As the others approached to regroup, he bowed his head in apology. He felt worst for Etsali. Somehow she always managed to get dragged into these s**t storms he created. Once they were out of here, he needed to apologize properly.

"I'm sorry for my outburst. I'll behave."

Etsali scouts!

"Right!" Etsali might have been disappointed her attempt to placate them hadn't worked entirely, but she could recognize a cue to make an exit anywhere and oncoming daywalkers were about the biggest one she'd ever seen. Honestly though, neither of them had even taken the time to pet a single gerbil! Where was she supposed to go from there? It wasn't like she could make them go get milkshakes and talk it out when they were running through a spaceship hurtling towards Alternia.

As they caught up to Cerpin and Tevini, she glanced between them, then back to Sascha, weighing their expressions and coming up with just another blank. Yeah, she really wasn't built for handling these kind of problems. "I'm going to scout out this hallway, be back in a blink."

It was clear even Cerpin didn't know what had happened. The purpleblood was acting out from a knee jerk reaction. There was definitely more going on than he was saying but Tevini believed that he wasn't entirely sure about it all either. Now was definitely not the time to be pushing it. She watched him with an unconvinced expression but seemed to accept his words. For now.

“We'll talk about this later.” The redblood muttered, as Cerpin dispatched the zombies with ease. She watched him in his disarray and tried to hide the slight amusement she felt. Tevini was still very worried about Cerpin, and definitely a frustrated... but she was also curious. The purpleblood didn't often get so off balance like this. Sure he got frustrated too but not with as much confusion. Cerpin always knew what was making him mad. For him to have to work it out on his own... she wanted to see where this would lead.

At the same time, it scared her a little. What if it lead...

Footsteps approached and there he was.

“Ah, I'll just, um...” Tevini pointed after Etsali and hurried after her. The redblood knew it would be safer for her to stick around and mediate between the boys but she felt her chest clench at the thought of it. She needed to get out now before she got too involved. She needed to leave their business to be their business. She needed to stop before it really hurt.

“Faithe, wait up!” As usual, she bottled it up and fled.
