Lorata auto-murders those three zombies with the power of leadership

Lorata all but danced through them, neat slices leaving them to fall behind as she slipped through to continue her path down the corridor. They were almost there, she could feel it! Just a little more to the control room! She couldn't wait to get back and tell Scorpa and Flydra about how ridiculous this ship was.

"Amonee!" Nucleo fretted over the jadeblood, pulling him into a hug after he'd been sick. The girls could handle these zombies just fine while he checked on his friend. The sight of the daywalkers had been gruesome, and would likely resurface in his dreams today unfortunately. But all that mattered right now was picking his buddy up and getting him out of the situation. He dragged Amonee further down the corrider in search of a safe place.

"Ooooh~!" Austri pushed past Nucleo eagerly, throwing a sweet smile at the greenblood before giggling a little. It was fun, playing around with him. "Waha~ I've got a joke for you guys~" She murmured, flicking her hair back and rolling her eyes. "What does a nosy pepper do~?" Stumbling into the open room, she gestured around before giggling. The greenblood did not understand a comedic pause. "It gets jalapeño business~!" Austri fell into a giggle fit— Her jokes were the best, duh!

Lorata finds loot. Another bandaid. Cool.

"A bandaid!" Lorata lifted it out of the first aid kit with a laugh. It was about the only thing left in there that could still be used, and it was a little hilarious to her that they'd found two on the ship for some reason. This one had cartoon knives on it. Interesting.

Amonee advances (14) and finds a door

"Ah, it looks like there's a path through here." They had wandered quite a ways and finally stumbled across another door. Amonee was feeling nervous about it again but knew that things would be okay. After all, he'd safely returned from all his previous missions, hadn't he? Lorata and Austri were super strong against these monsters. And Nucleo had always protected him from anything dangerous. He wrapped his arms at his sides and shifted from side to side while the others poked at the door.

Lorata uses the bandaid on Austri

style B 1d4. On a 1, 2 or 3, heal another troll by a quarter of their max hp, on a 4 heal them by their max hp 1x per battle.

"Oh, Austri! Hold still for a second!" Bandaid still in hand, Lorata caught up to the greenblood and hurriedly began to take the wrapping off of it. Quick and careful, she smoothed the bandaid out over a cut Austri had gotten in the last fight. She hoped Austri had wanted the knife one.

Nucleo checks the door, it's trapped

"As usual, it's trapped." Nucleo straightened up from examining the door. He didn't know why he even bothered, they were always trapped. It was safe to assume all the closed doors on these ships were probably trapped. If they hadn't been, the door would likely already be open! Moving aside, he obviously expected Lorata to work her magic and dismantle it. He mentally kicked himself that he still hadn't gotten his hands on an unlocking and dismantling manual at the base. Last time he'd tried to check in on that, he'd shown up after they'd just run out and needed to print more.

Lorata attempts to disarm and succeeds

"Trapped?" Lorata grimaced, looked over the doorway more closely, then made another face. She was doing this by hand, and if she failed, who knew what else would hit them? Another confetti mountain? Moldy old pies? She shuddered at the thought and stopped trying to think of options. Too gross.

Luckily, she'd disarmed it while she was preoccupied worrying.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

You have encountered a ...

Dice 1

1. ... Enraged... (-1 to all attacks)

2. ... Jawless... (+1 on accuracy rolls)

3. ... Putrid... (-1 on all accuracy rolls)

4. ... Decomposing ... (+1 on all attacks)

Dice 2

1. ... Skeletal... (-5 miniboss HP)

2. ... Bellicose... (players take 2x the amount of damage on their first turn)

3. ... Armoured... (only 2 players per turn may use a special artifact/ability/item)

4. ... Burning... (take an extra 1 dmg each time you deal max damage (highest roll possible for weapon or damage-dealing skill))

Dice 3

1. ...Undead Ship Cook!

2. ... Mutated Daywalker!

3. ... Zombie Gerbil Pack!

4. ... Daywalker on Fire!

MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 30/30

If you rolled a 1, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 6, take 2 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.

If all party members reach 0hp, look below:

You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,

you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.

Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first or second mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.

You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your third mini-boss fight, you have reached the control room! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*

2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*

If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

"Oh Gog." Nucleo froze for a moment in shock at the sight of the mutated daywalker. It was truly disturbing, the way it'd changed. He felt like throwing up himself now. The greenblood stumbled backwards, trying to get a hold of himself and have his stomach settle. Thankfully a blur of purple whizzed by him to save him and buy him some time. He definitely owed her that shopping trip now. Swallowing, he steeled his nerves and started into motion behind her.

The best way to deal with an angry mutated juggalo daywalker, as best she could figure, was to attack it as fast and as loudly as possible. Lorata screamed out a battle cry to drown out the honks and charged in, partisan stabbing out at it. Now that her follow the clown plan had worked, this was the final test!

So the screaming thing? Not actually working. Probably just scaring her squadron more than intimidating the clown. She stopped and pulled her goggles back down instead, dealing smarter blows. She could see its weaknesses now, and nowhere was the screaming thing listed. She kept fighting confidently, sure that there was a good reason for having done it.

Lorata's war cry came as a surprise to the jadeblood and he yelped, dropping his weapon. He scampered to pick it up and joined in with one of his own. Maybe this was a team building exercise they were all supposed to do. Raising his clubs high, he brought them down on top of the daywalker's head.

"We will save the skiesssssss!" Amonee had no idea what the heck he was saying but he was in this 100%!

Nucleo flinched at Lorata's battle cry, not having expected it, before charging in behind her to help. It was inspiring to see her bravery as she didn't care what she was facing- no matter what she was going to win. He tried his best to support her, not really inflicting much damage but trying to force the disturbing daywalker into the path of her trident. He also tried his best to keep the monster away from Amonee. Austri and Lorata could handle whatever it threw at them. Amonee was still the sweet pacifistic boy he'd known growing up and it was hard to shake that label off of him.

What the hell even was this monster? The greenblood hissed, dodging a fatal hit, the greenblood slammed her leg into the monster, releasing a loud war cry so as to echo Lorata's. Battle cries were good to do for motivation, especially before a particularly grueling battle. See, the purpleblood just knew what to do— She was a natural born leader. Austri admired her. Amonee and Nucleo could never reach up to her amazingness. They'd survive this— Lorata was with them!
