Endurance - If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.

That uniform was different than the others. Some more patchwork of color, an extra patch, that;s all that really made it stand out. It was just as grubby and bloody as the rest of them, as any other creature on the ship, but it was more substantial and solid than the undead that had blocked them so far. Festering flesh that hung off its frame, practically dripped and fell off and didn’t hold up at all to the electrical discharge that tore into it or the finishing blow from that tealblood, Eilidh.

Nictor rocked unsteadily in place, eyes glued to the slightly crisped corpse and felt that urge well up again. That pressure behind his eyes, that quivering whimper inside his chest begging for him to let it out, to stop, to make it all stop and fork over his capacity to function until the buildup of whatever this was had been expunged but now was bad. Not now.

He still couldn’t tear his eyes away.

Power: Novice support style A (1/1)
Training Discipline (1d6+1)

After defeating the boss, Eilidh had really felt the hits she had taken. Her body was even more sore than before and on top of that, she was honestly a little hungry. There was no way she was eating any of her snacks until her hands were cleaned but she could heal herself at the very least... that way she'd be less sore? The tealblood took a deep breath and let out the air slowly, calmly collecting herself.

Mildly impressed by the electrical charge from the blueblood, Stryke shook his head in wonder. He seemed to be surrounded by moderately to fairly capable trolls all in all. Even the little tealblood was handling herself in combat..right down to the nervous stuttering yellowblood that usually stayed behind them.

Feeling the aches and pains from their work so far he took his time to recollect himself. Closing his eyes, Stryke took in a long slow breath as he exhaled. If he could find his center, he could manage to press on. He had gained a great deal of pain tolerance, and endurance training came with the territory, and of the dangerous life, he lived. From his days spent training, to those days running through the swamp. His body wasn't the soft small one that had barely been able to hold his own weapon properly.

Rolling his shoulder he felt a second wind taking over, revitalizing his mind and body. Slowly he rolled his neck, releasing the tension as he shook off the nervous jitters. For all that he appeared calm and composed, being in disguise and maintaining his persona was trying. He would be able to press on without issue, however, he was certain. They had made it this far, it was only a matter of finding the control room so they could wrap this mission up.

When you can do that, and go headfirst or earlobe-first wherever you want, then you’re getting adapted to zero-g. On each flight this adaptation happens more quickly—your body remembers having been in space. But it can take a few days before your stomach finally settles down and says, “OK, what’s for lunch?”

Before the victory against the oozing creature could be fully absorbed, they soon had even more company. The sound was the first clue,
the rhythmic shuffling and low moans of trolls once living. Stryke cringed, wondering how many more perished crew members aboard this ship they would encounter.

He and his team would have to press on if they wanted to make progress.

The telltale moans, rustle of fabric from somewhere not within their little party. The noise set him on edge, or maybe more like pushed him down onto the edge he was perched on until it bit into skin and cut. The staff was back in his hands before he could think much further and he felt bile burn the back of his throat for reasons he couldn’t afford to consider right now.

Drawing a weapon. Him. What was the world coming to.

There was nothing like healing just to encounter more a*****e zombies. Eilidh sighed, preparing to battle again. At this rate, she felt like she'd never stop fighting. It was becoming usual for her... she wondered if it was the same for Xavier and her other friends... Were they feeling the same way or was it just her?.. Maybe she was just too sensitive?

ADVANCE 9

Static looked over at the door, both glad and... apprehensive, about opening it. Sure, sometimes there was a control room, but also, and far more commonly, there was something nasty, large, and aggressive. The blueblood was not exactly looking forward to giant monsters, but you know what he was looking forward to? Being finished with a mission.

Being asked to inspect the door they came across, he gave it a once-over. Squinting his gaze at the lock. Sure enough, he was able to fairly easily determine the door was locked. Not to mention that based on the room they had visited earlier the likely hood of a trap was extremely high.

"As far as I can gauge..there will be traps that I can take care of for us..but as for the door..it is also locked. Which would you rather I handle?" His eyes flickered between Static, Nictor and Eilidh as if to ask if one of them could assist with the door. It wouldn't be right if he did both,
everyone needed a chance to hone their skills.

Static stood in front of the lock and racked his thinkpan for the instructions he had only had time to gloss over. It was... something about tumblers, or maybe tumbling, fumbling? There were several things he had heard about. The boy took out one of the random tools in his lockpicking kit, something he had been given for just this sort of job.

break that s**t

He didn’t have to fight the shuffling husks. Okay. He nearly dropped the collapsed bo staff as he stored it and approached when it looked like Statis once again wasn’t going to manage to open the door. He didn’t want to upset the blueblood by any means and shifted awkwardly, pulling anxiously at his sleeves as he waited to see what Static wanted to do. When it looked to be a lost cause, Nictor offered himself up again as the solution.

Break a jar at the supermarket, break a stall, break a table, he could break a door. Break a zombie’s head too-

Probably a very bad time for that reality to sneak its insidious tendrils into his thoughts when he was about to slam himself into a door and broke a little at the notion. The impact isn’t nearly as clean as before, arm getting crushed between him and the metal and head jerking and smacking off the door at impact.

He still managed not to trip the trap, but he did stumble backwards a few steps, almost looked like he might keep upright, and proceeded to crash to the floor on his butt.

Eilidh heals Nictor with her power.

Eilidh looked to her party members, seeing how they were... checking out their condition. Everyone seemed to look okay.. except for maybe Nictor. Which made since, he did just ram his head into the door... twice. Taking a deep breath, she moved closer to Nictor. She flushed teal, leaning in close to kiss him. She had planned to run off like she did with Chiara but.. they weren't in battle. Instead she took off the other side of the room and pretended she was doing something useful.

Once they had a strategy (more like a battering ram as Static's efforts to break in didn't seem to be paying off) Stryke waited for his time to act. Once the door was clear, Stryke scampered over to disarm the traps. This mechanism wasn't as familiar to him, but he took his time to study it before going to work.

Before too much longer, he had it taken care of much like the first one. Resting on his knees for a long moment he craned his neck, looking around to see if they had anything coming for them. His psionic's flickered, glowing dimly as he felt on high alert.

As he turned his head, he noticed something. What was with all this affection and open compliments? It really took him off guard when the tealblood rushed over to Nictor and..kissed him?! Stryke nearly felt his jaw drop as he turned other several shades of yellow as he tried to finish up his work. It was awfully hard to focus when he was this distracted. Blinking several times he sunk into the high collar of his turtleneck from embarrassment as he exhaled shakily trying to recompose himself. Life-threatening situations? No problem. Public display of affection? Stryke hardly knew how to process the concept.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

You have encountered a ...

Dice 1

1. ... Shambling... (+1 on accuracy rolls)

2. ... Grotesque... (-1 to all attacks)

3. ... Rotting... (+1 to all attacks)

4. ... Skeletal... (-1 on all accuracy rolls)

Dice 2

1. ... Armoured... (only 3 players per turn may use a special artifact/ability/item)

2. ... Oozing... (-1 to weapon attacks that deal less than 6 damage)

3. ... Disemboweled... (-5 miniboss HP)

4. ... Swift... (players take 2x the amount of damage on their first turn)

Dice 3

1. ... Daywalker Captain!

2. ... Zombie Gerbil Pack!

3. ... Mutated Daywalker!

4. ... Undead Slime Lusus!

MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 15/15

If you rolled a 1, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 6, take 2 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.

If all party members reach 0hp, look below:

You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,

you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.

Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.

You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your second mini-boss fight, you have reached the control room! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*

2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*

If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Stryke was not willing to take more blows from any more creatures. Even if the other three trolls learned he had powers, they were not ones he necessarily thought would be reporting about him. As he went in to deal with the disemboweled lusus creature he used his shields to his advantage.

The chime of a clock sounded off as his psionics manifested. A ticking noise resonated as he froze the shambling creature. Countless clocks began to appear, creating a barrier. It was almost all too easy given how slow it moved. Charging in he got a running start as he lept into the air. Glowing with yellows, reds, and oranges he swung with all his might slicing deeply into the center mass of the creature. Kicking off it, he used the motion to catch it with his boot as he landed back on the ground, crouching on his knees as he held his daggers up at the ready.

The clocks shattered once he was done, time resuming for the monster as he could no longer hold the beast in place any longer.
