Cpl. Psykgi Mentha Interesting to see them let Chiara go first. It was such a clear example of the three very different heirarchies in play:
Bloodcaste of course - Chiara was the highest blood in the group. Age, too - Chiara was an adult, her pigment glinting in her eyes and her body mature and strong. She was the only adult in the room. Blue blood and adulthood together made a very convincing case for her to go first, to lead. That was the natural order of things.
But then the military ranks complicated thngs. Flydra and Scorpa were lieutenants, and Psykgi was a Corporal. Chiara was only a volunteer, which meant that they all outranked her. A redblood, a yellowblood, and a teal... outranking a blueblood.
And of course there was the fourth heirarchy of competence - Flydra and Scorpa were competent leaders (as was Psykgi, but it wouldn't be prudent to toot that horn out of turn.) Troll society respected that -- prized it highly, even. Chiara was competent, of course -- very much so -- as a... whatever it was exactly that she did. Which was a good many impressive things. But as a leader?
Which led to some fascinating interactions between all of it.
And a door.
And something behind that door... Gerbils. "More of these things?!" Psykgi shook her head and waded into the fray. "I could have sworn... she said between swings, "That I read somewhere that only trolls become daywalkers. I guess that was utter nonsense."

"Does anyone else think past trolls had a weird obsession with these things?" This was not the first pack of zombie gerbils Scorpa had encountered in space. Nor would it be the last, she was sure. While it didn't bother the yellowblood too much, she was aware that Flydra and Lorata seemed to be in a weird place regarding gerbils right now. Hopefully the tealblood wouldn't get too freaked out by encountering more again. She'd better clean them up fast so Flydra's suffering would be short!
"Scorpa Slash!" She tried another attack name! But even Scorpa could tell it was lame. Back to the cutting board, she supposed as she zipped through the gerbils with her blade.

It was impossible. These stupid gerbils were everywhere she went. Flydra's eyes burned with a great hatred and she began to stomp them out. Her hands fished through her bag and she pulled out a flask of something. Pouring it on a part of the swarm, they began to fall limp and die. She had come prepared this time just in case. Squeakbeast poison seemed to do the trick rather well and was easy to obtain around the Space Tower. After all, the crown had not poured all that money into it for it to get an infestation of some kind so shortly after it'd been completed.
"There's still more!" She growled, looking to Chiara for help. The blueblood was a strong fighter and didn't hold back any aggression. Flydra liked that in a troll and she hoped the other girl would be able to finish them off!

"Yeah yeah, im going all right?" Chiara snorted. Yep, they needed her. "Dont you worry your little high ranking butts, ill clean it up from here." With that the blueblood lept in. Like last time, she lept to the back of the... thing, and slashed it once, not quite giving it her full power. No, the next attack would be her all.

The blueblood yelled out a battle cry as she powered up her attack, focusing energy on her legs to really give the attack that extra push. She slammed into the thing, doing damage and also getting goop on herself. She pulled back, panting. "How about that, huh??" She said it as a challenge.
Whatever, it wasn't Psykgi's field of study. Neither were gerbils, come to think of it. The point was, they were at the end - the control room was right ahead. While the others cleaned up the formerly gerbil mess, Psy looked over the console.
It seemed intact, undamaged. Well, it wouldn't hurt to look ahead, would it? she thought to herself, entering in a few simple diagnostic commands. The higherbloods would want to get the credit, and there was always the chance that they would want to do it, too, but she had technical experience. She, at least, wouldn't break anything.
And... Oh! This wasn't too bad. A few missing connections, here and there, but otherwise... Psykgi put in the codes, and the ship shivered beneath her.
"Well, look at that Lieutenants!" She said, grinning at them through her viewfinder as the lights blinked on and the life support systems began to whir. She gave them a thumbs up: "All systems go!"
They could take the credit - the experience was enough.
Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*
