Chiara frowned when she heard about the yellowblood that needed a check up on. "Are you sure your not talking about Scorpa there, Flydra?" The blueblood teased. Tho, when she thought it over, there were a lot of trolls that fit that description. Eledae, Engrav, Buffel, man who else? It was like it was the new yellowblood trend to get prosthetic.

"I'll get 'em this time! Gotta do my part too!" The yellowblood grinned. She unsheathed her blade and dashed in to slaughter zombies. Scorpa liked to show off and definitely didn't hold back. Sure she didn't have to go so extreme on a pack this small but she wanted to impress the others. The lieutenant knew she also had to actually help out or people might think her lazy. She didn't want to get a bad reputation when her career was finally kicking off! Slicing through the crowd, she ended with a dynamic pose directed towards her team. Then she flicked the leftover blood on her sword off onto the wall.

"All done! I call that one the Scorpa Slice!" She chattered, beaming. Every since that mission with Frossa, Scorpa wanted to try and find a cool attack name to shout as she went into battle. Her actual naming skills could use a little more imagination though...

VOID - RP fluff only!

What about Scorpa?! Did she have a prosthetic? If so, it was very subtle... Well, she'd just have to observe and find out.

Right now, though, what she was observing was that Scorpa was really good at fighting and posing. She might even give Chiara a run for her beetles (if Chiara wasn't a fully formed adult, which sure did give her an advantage!) And she was giving Psykgi a run for her own beetles in the enthusiasm department!

"Nice name!" Psykgi complemented. She had no desire to make up names for her attacks - being underestimated was just fine with her. "It's got some great alliteration to it!"

Now Scorpa... what was that saying about her? Eh, she could analyze that later, for fun, in between missions.

Chiara actually laughed out loud as Scorpa called out her attack move. "Okay thats a good one!" She said when she calmed down. Really tho, naming attacks was silly. "Do you call it out every time you use it?" She teased. Really, it was the only way she knew how to interact with these two. superiors, but also younger. Not exactly Chiara's jam, but it was something she would have to get used to.

"It's sort of cute, isn't it, the way they follow the source of any sound?" It was like watching barkbeasts chase after squeaky toys. The daywalkers were so simple minded in this form and she almost wanted to play with them. Flydra had a somewhat twisted idea of what was fun. If only she could more easily access them on Alternia! All efforts to deal with the dangerous problem of the sun had failed in testing so far. Hmph.

"Six zombos at twelve o' clock! Mind showing us how it's done again, Psykgi?" Scorpa winked to the redblood. She still couldn't believe how quickly the psychiatrist had taken out that round earlier and wanted to see her in action once more! Scooting aside to get out of the way, as well as a good view, the yellowblood grinned as she waited for the show to begin.

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha

Psykgi didn't know about cute, honestly - the daywalkers and whatever psychology they might posess was sort of irrelevant. Her business was with trolls. Maybe, even, aliens if it came to that (it would sure be nice to know how they saw the world, if you wanted to get information out of them, or trick them, and so on, right?) But daywalkers? They weren't even at the same level as lusii, and lusii psychology barely interested her.

Trolls, living breathing sapient trolls, were her thing.

These were just axe fodder.

And that was just fine, oh gosh yes.

"Sure thing!" she said, hefting her axe (Ahh, she was never going back to a dinky little non-military grade one ever again, that was for sure!) And wading into the group of daywalkers as if it was nothing.

Well, it wasn't nothing, to be sure. Her suit was taking damage, but prudence was completely outweighed by the very satisfying sounds of axe against overripe troll corpse. Both ends - the not-so-business end was very handy for keeping those stragglers away from her body, and a good kick helped set her up for the next delightful, satisfying crunch-squelch of a swing.

Finally, the only movements were twitches - she hefted her now filthy axe back onto her shoulder and stretched her neck. "I think I might have gone just a liiiiiittle overboard," she commented, laughing, at the mess, "But these are probably the most fun 'punching bags' I've ever seen, don't you think?"

They were just so squishy!

Chiara patted Psykgi's head as she passed the girl, moving on ahead to look at what was to come. "All right, lets see what we have here..." The blueblood mumbled as she moved farther. She had really been hoping for a door. With a door comes the chance for a control room, and then they could get the hell out of this place!

"I wish these suits came with the ability to synch to our music players. Don't you?" Flydra frowned at the space jumpsuits that they had been outfitted with. It was a decent standard design that would fit basically any troll with no problems. But it lacked any sort of style (which Scorpa had complained about) or interesting functionality (which Flydra had complained about). She wanted to listen to her techno songs as they went through this to keep herself entertained. You had to do something to keep the space madness at bay.

"What kind of music do you girls like?" She wondered if they liked the flashy pop rap stuff they'd made during Superstar or if they preferred more eclectic tastes.

Cpl. Psykgi Mentha

Psykgi hadn't even thought of a soundtrack for their little adventures, but now that she was thinking about it, space travel was awfully silent wasn't it? Not that the voices of her teammates weren't welcome company, but if they weren't talking...

...

Well, gosh, the Rehab center was going to get a lot of interesting business, wasn't it? Between the vasteness outside the viewports, the constant horrors of the daywalkers, and the tiptoe-silence, she could see a few trolls cracking. It was just the nature of the beast. Not her, though, not her.

But music would be nice.

"You know, I've never thought about it, but is there a genre of music thats, like, for video games? I really love listening to video game soundtracks -- all atmosphere, no words, you know?" she shrugged even as she analyzed the new thought. There really was something about game tracks that got to her. Maybe it was how they looped, or how they could just play in the background and set the mood...

"I'm game for anything, though!" She always was. Usually was. With very few exceptions.

"Oh, hang on, that's a door - we should check it for traps first..." Psykgi said, a little more seriously than usual. She knew not to trust these doors, and a trap... well, she was having such a great, productive, fun time with these lovely ladies. She would hate to have something like a trap ruin it for them.

"Ugh it's locked." Scorpa grumbled as she reached forward to try the door Psykgi had found. It was encouraging and discouraging at the same time. On one hand, a locked door meant there was likely something valuable inside. On the other, it meant spending time getting the damn thing open. She knew they could slam it down if needed but would prefer to deliver the ship in good condition if possible.

"Flydra, could you?" Scorpa flashed her moirail a puppydog look.

"Yes, I'll take a look at it." Inspecting the door, Flydra tried to analyze how the lock mechanism was working. Was the door simply locked or was there an actual problem with the lock? Or maybe even the door. Sometimes these things broke down. Pulling out a tool kit, she set to work ripping panels off the wall and poking at the wiring. A few minutes and a few sparks later, she huffed and packed her things up with a pout.

"It's broken." Had she broken it? Flydra wouldn't say. "We'll need to break it down with force."

Chiara grumbled as she pushed the other two girls aside. "Yeah yeah, i got it!" She said as she rolled her shoulders. Usually she just kinda... bashed her way through. But that often left to both large bruises and also some pain, so it was time to change it up. She looked at the door, and found a spot where she could kinda bend the mettle. Sure, it was no less painful than her other method, but it worked just as well.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

You have encountered a ...

Dice 1

1. ... Shambling... (+1 on accuracy rolls)

2. ... Grotesque... (-1 to all attacks)

3. ... Rotting... (+1 to all attacks)

4. ... Skeletal... (-1 on all accuracy rolls)

Dice 2

1. ... Armoured... (only 3 players per turn may use a special artifact/ability/item)

2. ... Oozing... (-1 to weapon attacks that deal less than 6 damage)

3. ... Disemboweled... (-5 miniboss HP)

4. ... Swift... (players take 2x the amount of damage on their first turn)

Dice 3

1. ... Daywalker Captain!

2. ... Zombie Gerbil Pack!

3. ... Mutated Daywalker!

4. ... Undead Slime Lusus!

MINIBOSS STARTING HP: 15/15

If you rolled a 1, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 2, take 4 dmg.

If you rolled a 3, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 4, take 3 dmg.

If you rolled a 5, take 2 dmg.

If you rolled a 6, take 2 dmg. Your attack this turn does double damage.

If all party members reach 0hp, look below:

You must make a tactical retreat! Scrambling back out of the room,

you barely make it to the pod with all your limbs attached.

Better luck next time! You have retreated from your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

If the mini-boss reaches 0hp, look below:

If this is your first mini-boss fight look below:

If a member of your team is a trained Discipline or Endurace specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can close your eyes and draw on inner reserves to keep going. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Restore 1d10+3 OR 1/3rd (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Restore 1d8+2 OR 1/4th (rounded down) of your hp.

If you are training your skill: Restore 1d6+1 hp.

You cannot roll the dice then choose the flat restoration, one must be picked beforehand.

If a member of your team is a trained Troll Relations or Leadership specialist OR registered as in-training for either:

You can manage to cheer, rally, or cajole your teammates into finding more energy. This can only be done once per ship exploration per troll trained.

If you are a Journeytroll or higher in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+3 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are a Novice in your skill: Each team member restores 1d6+2 (rolled separately) hp.

If you are training your skill: Each team member restores 1d4+1 (rolled separately) hp.

If this is your second mini-boss fight, you have reached the control room! Roll 1d4 and look in the spoiler below:

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*

2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*

If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

Congratulations! You have completed your mission and returned back to the docking area! Squad commanders, be sure to report in!

Chiara grinned. Now for the fun part, the attack! The blueblood ran in and swung at the thing, her grin growing wild with adrenaline. "Watch this one Scorpa."
