Punkie looked at the door they had fallowed their fearless leader to. It looked like an ordinary door, but her teem mates gave it a serious look, as if it harbored unknown threats. The juggalo looked at it again, reassessing the situation. She slowly reached out a hand and put it on the doorknob. She gave her teammates uncertain looks, not exactly sure what to expect. The juggalo turned the doorknob, and a realization hit her like a rock.

It was locked.

Lorata took a look down the corridor Punkie had picked with a curious hum. She was glad that there had been no more sudden bumps and turbulence. It was concerning that it had happened the first time at all. Before she could give it too much more thought, she saw an open door.

"There's something..." Something was glowing. Amonee's heart sank. It was another terminal with data flashing on it. He didn't want Nucleo to see it and spiral into another depression but what could he do? The jadeblood nervously pressed a few buttons on the console and bit his lip. Watching the information pull up, he forced himself to look at it. Right now they were the eyes and ears of the Lightseekers and they had to check out every piece of information they could to report back to Panili.

He reached and gripped a hold of Nucleo's jumpsuit for comfort but also to prevent the boy from lashing out and attacking the walls again.

"It's okay Amonee. I'm okay." The greenblood murmured to the jade, feeling bad at how much his hand was trembling. He knew his outburst had been frightening for the other boy. Nucleo regretted that he'd gotten that bad. The two of them really needed to talk sometime in between missions. The log didn't seem as scary this time and he dutifully recorded it down in a notebook before tucking it away.

"I'll check the next room." The greenblood offered, leading the way onward once everyone seemed satisfied.

The juggalo almost thought they had gone completely the wrong way. It was... an empty hallway. No giant monster, no shuffling zombies, not even a stash of odd objects that might have, at one point, been useful. She looked a little longer, inspecting each and every nook and cranny, ready for the unknown terrors to appear.

But there was nothing. Nothing at all. It was not unwelcome, just.... weird.

Lora advances, door!

This time when Lorata moved through the corridor, she saw another closed door. Now that definitely had the look of a control room. Pleased, she hurried towards it, only to catch herself at the last minute. She couldn't get ahead of herself. This door still needed to be checked before it was safe to go through!

"Sergeant, wait, I'll look at it first!" After all, as a volunteer, he was expendable compared to an officer. Amonee didn't want to get hurt but he needed to fulfill his role on this mission. Testing the latch, he discovered it was not locked but there were some signs of tampering. There was definitely a trap hooked up to this room somehow.

"We have to disarm it somehow..." His eyes shifted to Lorata. She was so composed, she'd know what to do in a crazy place and time like this!

As she had suspected, the door was trapped. Lorata nodded her thanks to Amonee for finding it, then reached to grab the broken scanner Punkie had found. If she was right, it might have just enough use to help them here. She fiddled with it a moment, then pointed it at the door and pressed a button. After a moment it beeped out a success.

This is a mini-boss battle, the full rules and mechanics of which can be reviewed here.

The room beyond the door seems empty from the hallway, but stepping inside you are swiftly aware that you are not alone! For lurking in the corner is a dark groaning shape. As it turns towards you, you realize you are entering strife!

Dice 1

1. ... Shambling... (+1 on accuracy rolls)

2. ... Grotesque... (-1 to all attacks)

3. ... Rotting... (+1 to all attacks)

4. ... Skeletal... (-1 on all accuracy rolls)

1. ... Armoured... (only 3 players per turn may use a special artifact/ability/item)

2. ... Oozing... (-1 to weapon attacks that deal less than 6 damage)

3. ... Disemboweled... (-5 miniboss HP)

4. ... Swift... (players take 2x the amount of damage on their first turn)

1 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the ship away.*

2 - Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. As the screens boot up however, dozens of red warnings and errors flash across the screen. It seems like there has been critical damage to the ship in multiple places. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

3- The ship refuses to power on, even after you follow headquarters instructions to make sure they are plugged in, and hitting ctrl-alt-del. It looks like something core is not functioning. Your team is instructed to leave the small black boxes containing deadly explosives in key positions on your return path to the exit.

4- Powering on the ship is easy enough, with the instructions from headquarters in your ear. The screens show that the ship is functioning perfectly, and headquarters patches in the control of a remote helmsman. They wait until you have returned to your boarding pod and leave, before steering the boarding vessel away.*

If any troll in the party has helmsman authority, they can steer the ship to given coordinates, then return to the boarding vessel with the rest of the team.

The large monster loomed over the party, just as grotesque as all the other ones that had come before. As with the hallway, they had all seen it before, walked down ones that were essentially the same, fought monsters that were essentially the same, but each fight drew their adrenaline out, and their attacks rained down upon the thing.

"No you don't!" Nucleo leaped on the mutated daywalker as it shambled around, swinging it's arms violently. He wrapped his legs around to hang on and started to punch at it's head, trying to stun it or even kill it by brute force. He wasn't able to hang on for long, however, and was flung off into a wall. The greenblood groaned as his vision went fuzzy for a moment and was out of commission for the next minute.

An armoured daywalker? Of all the challenges she'd faced in these rooms, this one definitely seemed the most normal. Sure, the armor made it a little more difficult to kill, logically, but it wasn't an awful slime lusus. She could see the way to kill it without even putting on her goggles. Stepping forward, she finished it off.

The group made it to a room, a... control room? Punkie raised her arms in the air, "So this is it, right? We just ********> Punkie looked over the dashboard, trying to understand what all the lights and noises and w/e meant. It was miracles, the lights and whatever, it had to be. The little black box, that was also a miracle, there was no other explanation for the loud explosion that happened just after.

Man, those Messiahs had some pretty amazing miracles up their sleeves.
