Profile: Pameli is a humble soul with a bleeding pump biscuit. She thinks little of herself, but always of others. Whether it be a total stranger or a close friend, she is always there to help or care for them. She takes detailed notes of her friends' wriggling days, as well as their interests and hobbies, so as to surprise them later. At times she can come across as overbearing, showering them with acts and gifts of affection. But Pameli pays no mind. She dedicates herself to the success and well-being of others, wanting little more than for them to achieve their own dreams and pursue happiness. As such, she has few aspirations herself. Most of the time she is content to get by living in someone else's shadow, while reaping the benefits of their friendship.
That is not to say that Pameli is without her own goals. Though she keeps her ambitions to herself (she is far too modest and shy to admit her own dreams), she aims to become a personal assistant to a corporate bigwig or celebrity. She has no interest in fame or glory, but she would not mind basking in the glow coming off someone else. More than that she relishes the idea of being important to someone—essentially the feeling of being needed. Because she has so little self-esteem she relies on others to validate her worth. That said, she embodies many of the traits one would look for in a personal assistant. She is organised, personable, dedicated to her work, and often goes above and beyond what is expected of her. If only she performed a little better under pressure.
While not for lack of trying, Pameli is easily flustered. She loathes the spotlight and takes any kind of critique personally. Even when she knows that advice is meant to be constructive, she tends to beat herself up for not doing better in the first place. She holds herself to incredibly high standards. On the flip side, although Pameli appreciates praise as much anyone else, she is terrified of too much attention being drawn to herself. She would much rather settle for average than stand out for long. While she would never deliberately sabotage herself, she is prone to locking herself in her hive, or a nearby closet whenever she feels overwhelmed. She gives up rather easily when a task or situation becomes too much for her to handle, but otherwise she does her best to take precautions to avoid times where she might be caught off guard.
Generally, Pameli is an affable sort who tries her hardest to get along with others. She freezes up in the face of conflict, and hates even the idea of someone being upset with her. That said, in the event that she disagrees with something she reverts to tight-lipped brooding. For those who really get on her nerves she might enact small, petty acts of vengeance like baking them a slightly smaller cake for their wriggling day, or pretending not to hear them when they address her. She is not particularly mean-spirited however, so most her attempts are harmless. More often than not she only embarrasses herself.
Though Pameli might seem like a simple goody-goody she is not all she appears to be. For instance, she loves to gossip, and will spread misinformation, ill-intentioned or not. Contrary to her uptight nature, she also appreciates a good prank as long as she's not the victim, and is more than willing to turn a blind lookstub to a friend's troublesome behaviour. Finally, she has a surprising affinity for Lovecraftian horror. Though she cannot stomach any kind of real life scare (she startles very easily and hides herself away come Terror Night), she adores gory murders, abductions, and secrets cults in fiction as long as they is written tastefully. She herself has aspirations of becoming a poet, but has little literary talent. Everything she comes up with is horribly cutesy or purple prose. Still, she tries. One day, she hopes to work up the courage to publish something... or to share her work at all. She has yet to find the nerve to share it with anyone beyond her lusus.
Pameli's other interests are more mundane. She adores multicoloured paperclips, and collects printed stationary and stamps. She gets easily excited over any kind of organisational tool. While others might roll their lookstubs at binders and folders, Pameli has nothing but unabashed enthusiasm. Not surprisingly, she loves to tidy, and frequently cleans as a way to cope with stress.
Pameli pays little heed to the hemospectrum and the role it plays in society. That is to say, she accepts it as a natural part of Alternian life and would never think to question it. She has utmost respect for her higher-blooded peers, following their every command without hesitation, and her lower-blooded peers... well, in all honesty, she tends let them get the better of her. It would take a very special circumstance for her to feel the need to pull rank. As long as a lowblood is not being outright rude to her, she will gladly submit to their whims. Highbloods however always take priority. Conceptually speaking, she appreciates the idea of class structure having such clear method of organisation. She even applies the hemospectrum when colour coding her own files to indicate order of importance. It's much easier to remember that way!
Strengths:
Conscientious: Pameli is a dutiful troll, who is certain of her role in life and determined to live up to it. She is both an industrious and a morally upright worker. She would never think to cheat or break the law. She plays it safe, and does her best to be an upstanding citizen.
Felicific: While she might be on the quiet side, Pameli is an outgoing sort who thrives off of endearing herself to others. She loves to do nice things to surprise her friends and acquaintances, and even strangers off the street! Some might view her behaviour as banal or trite, however Pameli sees nothing wrong with giving a little back to the world.
Inoffensive: Mild-mannered and courteous, there is little about Pameli that others might find objectionable. She is happy to follow along and agree with her more spirited companions, and tends to withdraw from conflict. Though not particularly charming or magnetic, she acquires allies and avoids making enemies by staying eager to please and keeping her thinkpan down.
Flaws:
Meek: Pameli’s greatest weakness is her timidity. She keeps quiet when she feels uncomfortable or disagrees with others, and rarely raises her voice. She undersells her own work, even relinquishing credit. She is a massive pushover who is often steamrolled by bigger personalities.
Prudish: Not surprisingly, Pameli dislikes anything that deviates too far from the norm. She can be judgemental when it comes to others’ style of dress, taste in music, et cetera. She is easily embarrassed by simple things like talking too loudly, acting out in public, or insubordination. She wishes more children her age knew how to behave!
Indecisive: As reliant as she is on others, Pameli has a difficult time making decisions by herself. She would much prefer if everyone decided everything else for her. She struggles to commit and frequently second guesses herself. Though responsible when given direction, if she has to organise something on her own, she can prove flighty and unreliable.
Weapon: Finger prosthetics
Appearance: Pameli dresses in modest but girlish attire. She ties her bangs back, and wears the rest loose around her face. Her horns resemble a paper clip. She typically has a nervous expression with a permanent flush to her cheeks. The thumb, index, and middle finger of her left hand have been replaced with prosthetics—she lost her originals in the Trials. The prosthetic for her index finger also includes a retractable pen.
Home: New Hemisect City. A small hive located next to a coffee shop, right downtown. It has a narrow set of steps leading up to her front door. She used to chain her bike up out front but moved it indoors when she discovered that it was being used as a pitstop for the neighbourhood lusii.
Her hive is tidy and well kept. She mops the floor and scrubs the counters once a day, and dusts the furniture twice a month. Her uptight nature is not wholly to blame for such thorough cleanliness. Her lusus, being partly aquatic, migrates between the many aquariums spaced across the hive, and tends to leave a wet mess wherever he goes. For this reason she has no carpet. It would be impossible to get out the fishy smell. As a result of her determined cleaning, her hive nearly always smells like lemons and cucumbers.
Lusus: Clippy, a Fluttergillbeast. He resembles an axolotl with paper clip shaped gill stalks. He only has one pair of legs (his forelegs), but three sets of tiny membranous wings down his back. These wings are not designed for flight, but rather for swimming. He has a fat tail with long fluttery fins on either side. He is capable of vacuuming up objects as large as his mouth will allow and swallowing them whole. From head to tail he is only about a foot long.
Like all Fluttergillbeasts he possesses a special pearl that when ingested grants him minor telekinetic powers. These powers are how he defends himself (and his charge) as he is otherwise physically weak and ineffective. When not using his pearl he is fiercely protective of it, and will snap at anyone who tries to steal it. Though his bite is not very strong, he is capable of holding on for a very long time.
Clippy must remain moist or he will dry out. He can survive a dry environment for about twenty four hours before he gets uncomfortable. Pameli usually carries around a dish full of water for him to soak in.
Like Pameli, Clippy possesses an unassuming, peaceful nature. He is responsible for her gracious and benevolent attitude towards others, as he has taught her to “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. Both follow the belief that what goes around comes around, and all good deeds will be rewarded eventually. Clippy tends to be a little more laidback than Pameli, although he is always looking to help out when he can. He regularly reviews her work and offers suggestions. While Pameli appreciates his advice, she cannot help but notice that sometimes he makes assumptions and can be a little relentless in his pursuit to help.
