Profile: Demari is a sweet-natured troll who loves to partake in the finer things in life. She's keenly aware of her highblooded status and feels she should act accordingly, to partake in shopping and collecting things and trolls to take care of. Materialistic, she covets designer goods and high quality objects to decorate her things with. Demari tries to remind herself to be practical but gets easily swept up into things despite these efforts. She feels pressure easily and wants to be popular but not for the sake of being the best. Demari wants to be popular in order to feel she is generally not disliked, she wants to fit in with other highbloods. She admires seadwellers the most, not only for their status and general stereotypes from propaganda but also because they can breathe underwater. This is because above all else, Demari loves water and all things related to the ocean.
In order to be able to enjoy the ocean more, Demari has started collecting boats, among her other collections. She's become a skilled sailor and is still working on mastering using other motorized boats to go explore the nearby waters around Civisect. As this hobby is a bit expensive, Demari has decided to make her boats available to rent in the form of a business. This way, not only can she financially support her lifestyle, but she can also enjoy what she loves to do for a living! Her boat collection is still a work in progress and she has mostly small boats at the moment but she hopes to buy bigger ones when she gets older. She'd also like to buy a glass bottom boat.
In the future, she aims to explore further out into the ocean and see what's beyond the horizon. Demari does not want to take on this journey alone, however, and is aware her survival skills are severely lacking. She is very knowledgeable about boats but less so on long journeys and needs to develop her adventuring skills. As she is a very social troll, she is also aware that she would not do well out on her own. Demari likes having people around and wants to make lots of friends. She feels an obligation to take care of lowerbloods that blends a bit with owning them. If Demari decides she owns a troll, she will do whatever she feels necessary to protect and provide for the troll. She expects the troll to express gratitude, be friendly, and be obedient to her requests in response. If a troll she 'owns' does not fulfill these expectations Demari will feel very hurt and disown them, likely through a public spectacle of her crying. When it comes to highbloods, Demari expects to be treated as one but assumes that she must earn and maintain being liked or popular through flattering others and partaking in activities they like. She expects much less from her highblooded friends. Demari will play the status game as needed and does not begrudge other highbloods if they turn out to be fake or snobby. She believes manipulation is just part of a highblood's toolkit to lead. In regards to the hemospectrum, Demari follows it dutifully and believes it is just how things are. She sees no reason to question the system and tries her best to behave as a benevolent highblood should, taking care of the lowbloods she deems noteworthy.
Demari feels insecure about the more delicate parts of her personality and interests, feeling that she is not a perfect example of what a blueblood should be. She struggles with the dilemma of upholding what's 'proper' or considered correct behavior (acting more aggressive) but doesn't want to seem overly old fashioned at the cost of not being considered modern. She wants to be open minded to change but doesn't want to stick up for anything too risky or controversial. The conflicting desire to fit in but also explore the flow of progress cause Demari to flip flop on issues depending on who she's around and how safe she feels. She's aware this might make her come across as hypocritical at times but doesn't know how to navigate through the issue.
Typically Demari is a considerate person who tries to be thoughtful of others and kind. She tries to be attentive to the needs of others but can get easily distracted or swayed by other things going on around her. She usually has good intentions even if she does something flaky or frivolous. Easily emotional and drawn in to others, her want to help or take care of things is something that others can manipulate if they're paying attention. On the flip side, if she's discovered she was being used and there wasn't even a small bit of real friendship or affection for her, Demari's reaction will be just as strongly emotional and dramatic. In most cases, she can be tided over with honeyed words and reassurances into forgiving you as long as some effort is put into it. If the troll who has hurt her displays no remorse and doesn't care, she will let her grudge grow in secret and wait for a chance to get a dramatic revenge.
Demari's hobbies include collecting boats, antiques, glass, brass instruments, fashion, and art. She is more a fan of the arts rather than much of a creator. However she's always willing to try to participate in creating art if asked or encouraged. Demari loves to play the trumpet and is practicing other brass instruments because they're shiny and fun! She loves luxurious things and furnishing her hive with glamour as she can. She likes to attend parties and meet new people, there's always someone interesting out there waiting to be found! When she can, Demari tries to bring along her friends or 'owned' trolls to show them off- not only to get them exposure but also to try and secretly claim a hand in their success. It's not out of spite, she just likes to feel that she is a part in someone's story and tries to share that pride.
Strengths:
industrious - She is hard-working but more importantly, she is constantly working. This mindset helps her achieve her goals while also juggling the wants and needs of her friends and underlings. They say if you want something done, give it to a busy person and that fits Demari perfectly. Whether out networking, working on her business, or enjoying one of her hobbies, Demari always puts her all into everything she does.
generous - Demari feels an obligation to look after those who do not have as much as her. Seeing as she is rather materialistic and collects a lot of things, she often compares her horde to others and feels pity for trolls with less. While she's not keen on giving away her personal prized collections, she is completely willing to spend beetles on others and give them things she wouldn't be losing from her own belongings. Basically she's willing to buy you things that she's not buying with the purpose of giving to herself. As long as trolls are friendly and not obviously insulting her, she's able to be convinced to lend a helping hand or beetle as need be!
Flaws:
gullible - Demari's eagerness to take care of others leaves her open to falling for manipulative behavior. Her desire to be liked is easy to use against her as she isn't the type who wants to suspect others of lying to her. She is sometimes aware that it could be happening but generally tries to believe it's not, wanting to believe the best in others. As a highblood she knows she needs to be more cunning and capable of reading other trolls behavior but she's simply not very good at figuring out who shouldn't be trusted. Her judgement of other trolls is typically skewed as too optimistic when she needs to be more realistic.
sensitive - This highblood is rather insecure about how she fits into society. She knows what she's expected to act like but finds herself hesitating and wondering why she would rather behave differently. This insecurity causes her to be rather sensitive and worried about how others perceive her. She wishes she was stronger physically and emotionally and dislikes how easy it is to make her upset. Her mood can drop drastically when she thinks a troll is judging her or says something she doesn't understand. Demari is easily hurt. She's capable of pretending it's less painful than it really is if she absolutely has to be (like if she was surrounded by other highbloods in an extremely important moment) but otherwise she has a terrible poker face.

Appearance: Demari wears a white and blue dress and sandals, along with a translucent scarf draped around her neck. She also wears a few bracelets. Demari has big expressive eyes, girlish eyelashes, a short buttony upturned nose, and freckles all over her body and cheeks. She is frequently slightly flushed, giving her facial freckles a misty quality to them. Demari pins her bangs up into victory rolls and lets the rest hang loose to around shoulder length. Her bangs are dyed in her bloodcolor. She has four symmetrical triangular shaped horns that look like sails, located behind her bangs.

Home: Civisect
Demari's hive sits cozily on a small peninsula in Civisect. Sitting atop an outcrop of rocks, there's a small troll-made garden out front that has been obviously landscaped and was not originally growing there naturally. The front trail leads from Civisect straight to her hive, which is a tall lighthouse. A trail leads out the back of her hive to a small beach with a small dock where she keeps a personal boat. A third trail leads from the front of her hive to the main Civisect dock where she's docked a few other small boats as part of her business. Eventually she hopes to build a larger dock closer to her hive.
Inside her lighthouse hive, there are several stories. In the center of the hive is a tall cylinder that houses a glass elevator. A spiral staircase circles up the elevator as well for her to move from one for to the next. The basement of her hive houses an underwater view into the ocean, along with a large aquarium. She uses this area for entertaining guests mostly, with some tidy places to lounge around with a small romantic fireplace. The next story up hosts her basic living room, bathroom, and kitchen. After that is a whole floor devoted to her bedroom, along with a large walk-in closet, and master bathroom. Above that is her storage floor where she puts all of her collections on display. The last floor hosts the actual lantern of the lighthouse and has a small area with patio furniture and other decorative knick knacks she uses to entertain guests with as well.
Outside down by the dock she has a medium sized shed with her boating supplies. It also contains a small room where guests can sit down if needed.
Lusus: Demari's lusus is a swarm of flying fish. They are able to swim in water but can also float in the air in order to follow Demari around on land. They appear able to float through some sort of small telekinetic powers but still use their fins to propel themselves around. The swarm is able to carry heavy weights (such as carrying Demari to safety) if they all work together but otherwise their powers are just enough to keep themselves afloat. She refers to the colony as Shimmerswarm, or Shimmer. The swarm generally lets one of three fish do most of the decision making or delegating of duties (typically in this order): Sparklepop, Glimmermom, or Twinkletip.
Sparklepop tends to be the most responsible and disciplinarian of the swarm. He is also the most likely to stick his nose into things and get involved in trying to fix problems, whether they're Demari's problems or a troll in need. As such, he is typically the first to volunteer for tasks or to separate from the pack if needed (with the expectation of regrouping later). Demari respects Sparklepop's opinions and ideas and goes along with most of them but sometimes feels frustrated by how much he shelters her from things or convinces her away from taking risks. She understands why but wishes he'd let loose a little more.
Glimmermom displays a lot more flexibility and compassion for what Demari and others want, instead of looking only at what they need (like Sparklepop). She does her best to balance responsibility and fun, arguing that sometimes trolls need to take chances in order to experience new things. She is an excellent confidant and great at keeping secrets, probably the only one in the swarm who can manage it. Her kind and indulgant nature unfortunately does mean that she gets sidetracked by things and takes a longer time to get things done. Demari appreciates Glimmermom's point of view and parenting style the most and generally agrees with her ideas over the rest of her swarm.
Twinkletip tends to have bad judgement and almost always ends up getting into dangerous situations somehow. He's not good at noticing details and has strong opinions but doesn't always pay attention to important information. The rest of the swarm knows Twinkletip struggles with self esteem and having his own identity and thus try to humor him when Sparklepop and Glimmermom aren't around. He almost always waits for the other two leader fish to be gone or distracted before he tries to make any decisions and they almost always result in a problem for Demari. Still, she loves his stubborn determination as well as an underdog story and badly wants to make him happy. Demari and Twinkletip see each other closer to equals in terms of rank with the swarm and thus she feels comfortable trying risky things or mistakes with him.
Occasionally Demari will leave a fish from her swarm with other trolls or in places to either help or monitor them. The fish prefer to stick together as much as possible so she usually only leaves one of the three lead fish named above. The swarm isn't able to communicate telepathically but does seem able to sense what direction the other members of the swarm are in. The swarm as a whole generally believes it best to follow the ranking system of the hemospectrum in order to fit in. Lastly the swarm will always try to do whatever keeps the largest amount of the swarm safe, they feel obligated protect each other. Any of Demari's close friends that she deems a member of her swarm will benefit from this behavior.
