Something didn't feel right. It wasn't just him, either, there were alarms going off in his head, like warnings from Shiloh's end of the link. Soon the worry and the wonder over what the Burning Man would do had taken precedence in Jamie's thoughts. He didn't like it.
Good thing it wouldn't last long.
The hug was comforting, it was the best sort of distraction. Jamie only hoped as he squeezed right back that Shiloh felt that relief, too. Actually, he almost laughed at himself because he knew Shiloh did.
Reaching out, he touched the wall of plants and from his hand spread snowdrops that popped up here and there between the existing foliage. They were cold to the touch and, after a moment, coated the wall in a protective layer of ice. Beneath it, none of the plants died.

Wil was in some weird stage of horror and amazement that possibly had a healthy dose of shock mixed in. The heat was too incredible and getting hotter, even sans a shirt. Alexis, he was pretty sure, may have been dying in front of him, but it was a lot and very fast so when he heard Chief Mercer yell something about shields he did the first thing he could think of.
Wil threw his shirt over Nasir, put himself between his boyfriend and the fire, and thought really hard about protecting the pair of them. His bear arms erupted from the air and crossed in protection.

The power exploded outwards, a veritable wall of flame incinerating everything in its path. If it had gone on more than a moment or two, surely it would have taken everything with it; as it was, the attack was vicious, violent, and too strong to resist.
But it ended, much more suddenly than it began, and when the fire cleared the Burning Man was on his hands and knees, head hanging low. "What," he breathed, his voice coming from everywhere, no longer sounding like the low tenor of Ezra Fitzpatrick. Now it was as if they were listening to the sigh of the wind through the trees, the stirring of ash after a wildfire. "What have you... done?"

Kill
Shun was swept off his feet as flames exploded outward from the Burning Man. He was on fire again. His vision went white with pain. It took him a moment to even get enough of his senses about to see what the hell was going on. Even then, his mind was still numb from the blast.
Slowly, he rolled over, seeing the Burning Man on all fours. He was seemingly in defeat.
Now.
Without any real hesitation, even while his own body still burned, he shadowstepped over to where their foe was. The shadow dagger in his right hand raised high, ready to bring it down towards the neck of the skeletal figure; ready to sever its spine if not stopped.

gore probs. don't get set on fire kids
Alexis raised their head to say something, grimacing in pain - and then the flame exploded outwards.
They hardly made a sound, but when it dissipated, they had fallen face-down on the floor; their back looked awful, their shoulders no better, and their hair was actively on fire as was the shreds that had once been the back of their shirt and underclothing. The smell of burned flesh permeated through the air; their arms, awkwardly splayed on the floor, were shiny-red with blisters.
They didn't move except for a tiny, shuddering, agonizing breath.

SPARE Power stripping + ankle monitor
Temperance grunted in pain as the fire stripped through her. Then, immediately her head snapped up. If it hurt her, it could hurt those more.... This was a scene she'd experienced before. "Kuroda!" she yelled. Mila would stay, Mila could take care of Ezra; he was stable. She rose in a fluid motion. But America was already there, in a sense.
She couldn't believe he was trying this, again. Was Shun so bloodthirsty? He acted like judge, jury, and executioner. Unacceptable. For one weak second, she almost regretted putting out the flames on him.

Eve: ABSTAIN
There was a searing pain and then a startling silence, a quieted voice, a struggle -- when Eve's vision returned she realized she was still in pain, and there was fire crawling up her sleeve, and her chair was totaled. She frantically patted out the flames before maneuvering herself so the defeated Lord Ezra was in her line of sight.
"You have the nerve to ask us that after everything you've done?" she asked, furious as ever on top of her grief and worry. "Selfish. Just look at you. Another mess the lowly mortals have to clean up after. You're just like Renard was with his schema, working in secret and trying to fix everything in a single act. Just like the old Principals, and Minerva, and all the Charter signatories you were determined to keep hating for thousands of years after those lives were long gone."
She took a deep, harsh breath.
"You weren't going to win because almost everything you used to get what you want was stolen. Stolen thumbprints, a stolen body, stolen voices with your geas..." Eve shook her head, "...and that's only what I know about. How many more atrocities have you committed that we've forgotten? How many more lies have you told yourself to justify it? Lord Ezra, I don't care what happens to you now. Whatever does happen has been a long time coming, because no matter how much you might have suffered, none of it justifies the harm you've done.
"I hope we never have to see or hear from you again."
SPARE(strip power/bind; investigate burning man presence; maybe trial and eventual death if deemed necessary)
What shielding Jeremiah had was meaningless, worse that when the wall of flame finished passing through he was - sans very, very tattered pants (which was mostly boxers) - without clothing. Icy scales were visible along his shoulders, spreading out from the icy scarring that was along his spine. The mottle of bruising from his assassination attempt was mostly faded save for ugly greens and yellows in a few places and, of course, on his chest where the bullet had nearly struck.
He immediately was drawing fire away from Algie, though instead of dispersing it this time he drew it towards himself and used it to bolster himself. His cold hands were still wrapped around both Cass and Algie, trying to help with some of what they had just been hit with. To ease things and cool them off.
Then, in a whirlwind, Shun was moving towards the Burning Man and about to-
"Shun!" he called out but others were already in motion, both America and Temperance. "We can't kill him, not now. We don't know what that will do- especially if the Burning Man is merely a presence. Someone else could end up bearing that if we're not careful." He was pushing himself up to stand, realizing that his cane was entirely gone but he was able to hold himself up regardless. "I don't want to run a risk that someone else bears this."
Besides, if they were to change the nature of the Court then this? This could be the first case they put forth.
"If we're truly changing the Court, then the Burning Man's trial could be the first. To judge him. Let him live now, to learn what we can and then we act."

"So they just. Get away with it?" The burning figure shuddered. "All those ******** years where people suffered and died, July and Serra and Melany, they get away with it..."
"July and Serra? What do they have to do with this?" he asked of the Burning Man. The twins? Melany as well? Jeremiah was not even going to bother trying to guess but he was tired and he was without a suit he liked and-
- so done.

Preacher was flung backwards by the blast, enough so that she smacked into Chester. Then, in a rather graceful heap, she crumpled to the ground and was still. She hadn't even had time to yell.

"If that's the narrative you want to keep, so be it," said Eve. "I hope you're content being a hypocrite."

The henwarg, by contrast, didn't have quite so much to say. Instead she looked back behind her, at the unconscious form of the younger Ezra. Biscuit had settled down at his feet, apparently recognizing him well enough to be comfortable around him.
"He should have a say," she said wearily. "He's been imprisoned and used for... months. Lady, too. She had years taken away from her."
