With more people throwing out attacks, Kaleb didn't have a moment to stop and think. He just reacted, using magic once again to extinguish the flames on another unfamiliar face. She was small and scrappy, looking like she was ready to beat up the guy even if she went up in flames herself.

He did recognize the guy nearby, Chester, but now was not the time for greetings.

"We do," Nasir echoed, looking towards the Burning Man and coming to a conclusion. "Keep an eye on Trouble, alright?" Which meant that Nasir was definitely going to do something crazy but then, this entire thing was crazy, wasn't it?

Taking a breath, he ran towards Ezra - having to dodge through all the other things that were going on - and reached out with both hands to grasp onto one of his arms (that was covered in smoldering sheet). He did not know what he was looking for but ...

He was going to try and deescalate the situation. Nasir wanted to help, wanted to do something, and this was the only thing he knew how to do. To try and ease the emotional burden of someone else.

Who knew what he was going to get but he was going to take some part of it from Ezra.

Maybe that would do something.

Chester had just flung a weird knife he had made for himself—this one was mostly handle instead of blade—at Ezra's back when he noticed flames licking out of the corner of his eye. Preacher was on fire, which had certainly been a possibility this whole time, but that didn't make it any less startling to see.

Before he could do anything about it, Kaleb of all people darted over and put her out.

"Thank you," he said, focusing back on the burning man.

The sheet were not at all strong enough, America needed something fireproof, or better yet, indestructible. Something to keep the flames covered and suppressed for longed than a moment, Leather? Maybe...stone? Too heavy by far for her lift ability. Trying to buy time for herself and the others, America sent a of volley of pillows at Ezra.

Peeking around a corner, Mr. B looked at the furious action going on and tried to gauge if the pastry table was a Safe Place or an On Fire Place.

"Pet, could you come over here?" Eve called from her table. She sounded pressed and agitated, almost exasperated. "Shiloh, too, when you have a second, I think you could help with this." The components of her spell were coming together. She had a bowl of water with smoky quartz, labradorite and agate -- stones associated with cleansing, revitalizing and strengthening -- submerged within, and the lit candle was also there, in a tall holder to keep the wax from mixing in. Leila's phone with Ezra's songs playing became part of the casting space as well.

Leila hadn't realized she was frozen in place until her wife brought her somewhat back to her senses, and she awkwardly dashed over to sit with her.

Ezra, if you can hear me... Eve designed a spell to help you. I'm going to be your eyes and ears for this, okay?

Not that he could answer.

"Jesus ********—" Shiloh honestly should've seen the fire coming, but like, seeing his boyfriend's foot immolate was still something he didn't want to see, "Hold still for a sec babe—"

Jamie's foot would erupt into aloe vera, the plant forming and disintegrating and oozing relief where the flames had licked. I can't fight Ezra, he pinged to him, Nobility can't hurt nobility. Sorry you gotta pick up my slack. I love you, y'know? In that moment he shared the vision he had earlier—what Sonny had warned them about—the void, Jamie being alone, Oliver being alone, and Shiloh being dead, dead, dead.

No matter what though, I'm never— Eve's voice snapped him out of his sappy gay monologue, his eyes snapping over to where she was, "What?" He looked a little frazzled from the fight going on, but Jamie could handle himself. "Make it quick, I gotta—" He turned his head around to watch Jamie, his attention obviously divided.

"I can keep the fire off of you," he called out to America, "just do what you need to." It was easy enough and there was no worry of actually catching on fire for him.

A look went to Cass who was, of course, doing the exact same thing. She got a smile, the kind that said Jeremiah was more than a little impressed (he was a lot impressed because she was a fast study). Then he was looking to Algie, his shoulders rolling a little and trying to ease the ache between them as he leaned heavily on him.

"I don't think I've got it in me right now for actual combat anyway," he told him a quiet breath. "Not without a boost."

"Hella," she said to Chester, taking some of the knives. "How tha ******** - nah, I don't need to know. Damn cool, though." She flashed him a grin. The same 'hella' was directed to Kaleb when he patted out the flames on her. Preacher had no desire for more skin grafts and more time in the hospital.

She weighed one of the knives carefully in her hand. It wasn't the most balanced, but she eyed Ezra and flung it at him. "Ya okay, Bester?"

The damage they were doing was causing more fire to come out. Shun was trying to be mindful as he twisted away from a plume of flame that came in his direction. All the while, he was thinking about what may happen with this skirmish.

The things he had managed to scry were flitting about in the back of his head.

If they killed Ezra, the burning man would be free. But if they did not, a lot of them were ********. There might be another way to stop Ezra, but so far...

He wasn't sure how much time they had to be figuring this out. Probably not a lot. Probably not enough.

A large, dark spike jutted out from the ground towards Ezra, as Shun called upon the shadows around once more. There were several nobles in the area, which made attempting a geas extra risky. They also wouldn't really be able to jump in on the fray here. It just meant the rest of them had to work harder to get the Burning Man under control.

"Yes, for now," Chester replied, coming up with another 'knife' that was even more of an abomination than the first few. He tossed it aside. "You?"

Ezra didn't seem to be doing anything beyond waiting for his happily ever after, but attacking a man who wasn't fighting back still felt a little weird, no matter how urgently he needed to be stopped.

The flames were put out on them again, and Alexis wanted to say thank you to the young woman who'd done it, dark-skin dark-hair - bright eyes - there was something lovely about her eyes - focus, focus, break him break him break him.

They ripped the glass from his skin and struck again, again, the nearby cries of others drowned out by their own heartbeat; when the flames licked up at them this time, blackening their fingers, the sigil Preacher had given them pulsed in time against their skin and the flames faded away. Still, still - their forearm was red where the shirtsleeve had burned away, an angry, virulent red.

(Their arm faltered. They could feel his handprint on their wrist; it had been so cold, but now it felt like it was screaming under their skin, branding-hot.)

Eve explained to Shiloh quickly, and quietly:

"The candle here has a flame of the Burning Man... that's our focus for him... and the stones and the water are for this world's Ezra... whose focus is the music you're hearing, it was played using his body." There was some layered writing around the phone connecting it to the bowl: a couple of alchemical symbols, and his name written in quick calligraphy. "When we cast you can direct your power as the Key to... lock away some of the Burning Man's power, or unlock some for Ezra. Or both, if you think you can."

She was very careful to not delve into whether or not this all would actually work, because doubt was poison to magic in her experience.

While it looked like most of the fires that had spread to those attacking, it looked as if someone was still on fire. Jeremiah was not familiar with the young mechanic but no one was going to stay on fire on his watch.

Fingers flicking, the fire was drawn away from Theo. It spiralled, as before, and was extinguished as he closed his fist.

The snow did something, even if it only functioned to melt and fizzle as steam before the flames rose again. Lily could work with that, at a distance where she was less likely to become a fisher-kabob. She reached for the snow and found another snowball again, but she called for more and more of it until she was holding a giant snowball between both hands, the size of a beach ball and perfectly crisp.

She jumped when she hefted it with both arms, like a free throw made of winter.
