Personality

Nictor just might be one of the most underwhelming trolls around. The mighty race known for their strength and brutality, capable and intimidating is the legacy of the trolls. Nictor does not live up to this legacy.

As a child, Nictor was perfectly underwhelming and negligible save for his tendency to be the clumsiest kid you ever did see. That tended to lead to all kinds of problems. As a teen, his clumsiness seems to have reeled itself in a bit. His motions are jerky and erratic when he's nervous (read, 50% of the time) and he has this horrible tendency to run into things, but he's gotten better. He at least catches himself most of the time these days. The poor boy is still rather accident prone, but he faces these situations with a good natured exasperation these days. What really makes him stand out is he's big and bulky in a way he never expected. He's still frightens easy and his nerves still act up over small things, but he recovers quickly. He tends to get worried about a lot of things though. He worries about Bee's well being, he worries about his future, he worries about if he's taking proper care of his plants, he worries over his friends and if they even really are friends. There's a whole long list of things, but it can be soundly stated that he's a pretty anxious dude in general. Not just that but every moment of life is an adventure with him, something is almost always going wrong and his reactions can be hilariously overdramatic. Everything is a big deal. You gave him a gift? His brain short circuits. You make an angry face? He has a slight meltdown. Most of these reactions are internal drama though and makes for awkward pauses and waits in interaction. He's easy to spook, but that's not always recommended since that leaves to flailing and well his fists are hard.

Interacting with trolls and working past some of his fears has really helped him pick up a bit more of a positive attitude though. He always tried to push his thoughts in a more positive direction, but it's not always successful. When it is though, Nictor has found his mental state to be more relaxed and happier as a result. Around trolls he's comfortable with, Nictor tries to be open and be good company, though he might try a little too hard and confuse himself at times about how to be good company. He often chitters or hums around them, as that's how he and Bee often communicate. He's good natured about teasing and doesn't get so stressed when he can't find words to communicate. At least if he picks up that you are teasing him. He often take statements a little too seriously and might not recognize the joke.

Nictor learned at an early age that trolls are cruel and cunning creatures more likely to tear your spine out than to offer a hand and help you up. So, maybe his lusus went a bit overboard. He meant well. Growing up with that kind of fear as a daily companion while navigating crowded streets certainly didn't do much good for Nictor's nervous predisposition. Nowadays, he's learned that trolls are not necessarily cruel, but you must be watchful for the ones that are. Nictor has never been particularly confident or comfortable around other trolls, and he still isn't. He's not outspoken, more likely to keep to himself and listen than initiate conversation, though he does try when engaged with someone he's found a level of comfortability with. His lack of social skill shows in awkward stance and the verbal stops and fumbles that color his speech, but he tries. Nictor sees social situations as an obstacle course that has to be completed while on fire wearing a clown costume. On a time limit with eggs being thrown at you. That are also on fire. Basically, it's a huge mess that he really doesn't know how to handle.

Nictor's not a very strong willed troll, as it were. His cautious attitude and dislike for confrontation make him easy to control. He's a bit of a people pleaser in that sense, trying to keep those he interacts with happy to avoid any problems befalling him. When it's a friend or Beehemoth, he doesn't put up much of a fight either, not because of fear, but because he likes to see them happy. They're important to him and just as he doesn't want bad things to happen to himself, he doesn't want anything bad to happen to them. If him going along with something will involve harming others or seems like it'll end with him hurt, he will do his very best to get out of the situation and as far away as possible. He doesn't like to get hurt, why should he like to hurt other?

Nictor tends to get a bit overwhelmed with the bustle of town, preferring his solitude of home or exploring nature. He does make trips into town a lot for library resources, items to care for plants, or basic amenities. The whole affair tends to just be awkward what with bumping into folks in the streets and accidentally knocking kids over and upsetting lusii along the way.

Nictor has always been prone to more solitary hobbies. He has a fascination with the world around him and enjoys just laying back and stargazing, or finding the highest points he can get to and just admiring the landscape. There's nothing quite like a breathtaking view. Nature fascinates and delights him, or the non-lethal nature does at least. Flowers and plants and open skies hold a certain wonder that captivates Nictor.

A regular patron of the Chittentown's library, Nictor is also a fan of adventure and exploration, and spends a day or two a week perusing the selection of books on the subject or brushing up on his plant knowledge. Nictor keeps his first aid knowledge fresh, since you never know when it'll come in handy. He's quite good at patching up wounds. Nictor actually started studying herbalism a while back and tries to keep track of what plants would be useful for what and where they can be found. He really just likes plants and flowers though, aside from their usefulness. Beehemoth has started dragging Nictor along at least once a week to observe or help collect nectar and pollen. They're working together to figure out ways around Nictor being a troll and not being naturally built for such a task, but they're determined.

While he enjoys the downtime of sightseeing and day dreaming, he takes great joy in hiking the outskirts of Chittentown and exploring the tunnels. He likes to draw up his own maps of the areas, though he gets a bit banged up in the process. Lots of wild and angry naturae out there. Whenever he does go on outings to explore, he always takes a journal with him that he can take note of the local flora and fauna with, and sometimes sketches out what he sees. He's not a great artist, but he tries. As it stands now, he gets scraped and banged up a lot from the misadventures he gets up to, resulting in him keeping a well stocked first aid kits through most of his hive and a sewing kit for patching up his clothes.
While Nictor might not be dead last on the hemospectrum, he knows he's pretty low on there and is essentially of no importance to anyone but his lusus. While some yellowbloods are gifted with helpful abilities or powers that can gain them favor by upper classes, he is not one such troll. The blood color based hierarchy has never made much sense to Nictor, but he is no less a cog in the machine. This idea has been deeply internalized. The hemospectrum acts a mental calculator for how much danger he could be in if the troll decides they don't much care for him, really. He automatically tends towards subservience in most situations anyway.

Strengths and Weaknesses
blep blep blep blep

Strengths:
Resilient- Having been accompanied by klutziness his whole life, Nictor gets his fair share of injuries. After every single one though, he just smiles lightly and shrugs it off as a fact of life. Not only that though, but his uncanny ability to bounce back after a bout of anxiety or depression is admirable, but also necessary given how often he seems to freak out over things. Give him a minute to calm down and he's good as new. Eh, as good as he ever was. With his great physical and mental recovery time, it goes to show he's made of tougher stuff than he seems.
Compliant - Like a good yellowblood, Nictor knows how to fold to his betters. Except it's more like everyone and not just "betters." For the sake of avoiding confrontation, he tends to go along with whatever he's told or asked to do, making for a good accomplice or servant. Unless it's something that asks him to act violently or knowingly harm someone, he tends to do as told. Life's just easier that way,
Adventurous- Nictor loves the outdoors, discovering and learning and exploring. It's all great fun and he's more than happy to spend his free time doing it. These days, he's getting more curious about trolls too. He'll try anything at least once, either out of his own curiosity or another's insistence.

Flaws:
Distracted- Nictor has this nasty habit of not paying attention to things. This is probably why he trips and blunders into things so often, but that can be attributed to natural clumsiness too. It doesn't change the fact that Nictor's fly away though process is a problem. His thoughts flit from one place to another, often spiraling on negative thoughts that are most unwelcome, making focus difficult more often than Nictor would like.

Apprehensive- Nictor tends to be worried about everything to an unnecessary degree. A lot out there makes him nervous, but trolls and violent angry naturae rank the highest. He's unsure about most things and often questions himself on if he's doing things correctly or if he's going to upset someone or if some troll might jump from an alley and try to carve out his spine. As a result, he has some nervous tics like trying to watch all movement around him, shying away from physical contact, and being ridiculously easy to spook.

Awkward- Nictor is klutzy and bulky, taking up too much space. His motions are often a bit jerky and stilted, and so is his speech. There's a lot of stops and stumbles to his speech and sometimes he just stares off into the distance for minutes at a time before picking conversation back up. He just doesn't know how most situations are meant to be handled, so instead does it his own way, which is often off key with the social norm. He finds difficulty in interaction a lot of the time, and it certainly shows.
