Telleara in square E7

Telleara's rake is set to disrupt something.

User Image

This egg is medium sized, the shell is very soft, it is only a or so day old.

[Handing in B2 & B8]

Another one! V'lon picked the little egg up carefully, inspected it for a few moments and then put it away in his basket for the time being. "Yeah, probably," he agreed; four firelizards was a lot though he'd met people with more, some people couldn't get enough of the little buggers. For his part though, he wasn't sure he could give enough time to train that many not to be complete hellraisers.

[E2]

As there were quite a lot of people moving around the stands at the moment V'lon trooped down them and across the sand to an area that was looking a bit neglected.

[C8]

//Yes, I wouldn't want badly behaved firelizards,// Mirath agreed; Weed wasn't trained to do anything too fancy but - as she was so ably demonstrating - she was good at being a little messenger and she generally didn't try to steal food and suchlike. Generally.

Although this space was neglected there didn't seem to be anything of interest left there.

Mirath once again discovers something.

This egg is huge, there’s some firmness to the shell, but it is less than a week old.

Sh'shi - B2 (Roll to pick not-confirmed-as-empty square accessible without dragon)

It seemed to be going well all in all. Weyrlings had come and gone, some leaving with eggs, some not. Hopefully there wouldn't be issues. If any hadn't managed to find one for themself and didn't have a firelizard, but really wanted one, perhaps something could be arranged. Either way the cavern was looking much better with so much rubbish removed. Once the majority of helpers cleared out it would only take a few individuals to make the place neat again by washing down the stands and giving the sand a levelling out. Even though many felt like Fort's hatching cavern might never be used again, it was good for morale to keep the place in order. For many riders this place was important to them on an emotional level, it couldn't be left to fall into disarray just because of this set back. It wasn't really her job to keep morale up, only really the morale of her charges, and that wasn't all that difficult. Sh'shi paced along the stands, picking up rubbish here and there. Weyrlings were some of the easiest to bolster. Just tell them their dragon was anything positive and they'd be chipper for a sevenday or more.

[Keeping C8. Changing F5-M to handing in.]

While V'lon cleaned up some debris from the sands Mirath sent his rider a feeling of mild smugness. //I'm so much better at this than you,// he said as he peered down at an egg nested in some scraps of cloth.

When Weed delivered it into his hands V'lon frowned speculatively at it and compared it to the other eggs he still had in his basket. "Big egg," he mumbled, it was even bigger than the blue one that reminded him of Mirath... Least he thought so? It was kind of a close run thing and they were slightly different shapes. "Maybe this one and the blue one," he said thoughtfully.

[Telleara - D8] (Roll to go into adjacent not-confirmed-as-empty squares)

On her shoulder Clay sudden stiffened, shrieking in her ear. "Clay!" Telleara said harshly as the brown took of. Diving down the brown landed on her rake, angrily hissing and gnawing the handle. "Clay, what are you doing? Let's that go this instant!" Doing as he was told the brown jumped off the rake and planted himself firmly in the stand, flaring out his wings and puffing himself up to look very intimidating. Or as intimidating as something his size could. The rake was bad. It was a bad thing. Telleara held the rake away from the brown and tried to focus to get some kind of idea why he was suddenly so angry. Clay snorted and began to claw at the sand until it was clear something was underneath.

Telleara couched down and reached out to brush sand away, Clay grumbling irritably. The egg was revealed and the candidate picked it up in her hands, frowning slightly. Hmm. It was smaller than Clay's had been. That hardly boded well. She wasn't about to go around with a green on her shoulder. The Headwoman had said she'd take any eggs people found, so at least it'd find a home somewhere. Clay squawked indignantly at the idea of the egg being disposed of. "If you desire to be helpful, fetch me something to hold it in." Telleara visualised a leather pouch she owned. Once again Clay grumbled, but vanished and reappeared moments later. His load delivered he landed again on the candidate's shoulder and watched closely as she filled the pouch with sand, placed the egg inside and pulled the cord tight. "May I continue now?" The brown grunted and settled himself down as Telleara got back to raking. Firelizards...

Thankfully Telleara will be able to rake this area without anymore interruptions.

Sh'shi in square B6

How delightful, the remains of a wineskin. To celebrate the hatching or drown their sorrows. In all honesty Sh'shi would never know. During her cleaning Sh'shi managed to find herself in the leader's box. The space was reserved for visiting Lord, the Weyrleaders and other important people. There certainly shouldn't be any rubbish brought in by human here.

Feeling that he had definitely done his bit - the heavy basket of junk on his back attested to that - V'lon crossed the cavern to where the headwoman was making another round and handed over all but four of the eggs he'd found, those he hadn't already given her anyway. "Don't worry," he grinned roguishly, "I'm not keeping all of these but I've got other plans for a couple of them. I'll leave this junk by the cavern mouth, right?" And then he was going to get a really big drink of water, followed by beer; he'd definitely earned it!

Telleara in A7

Clay had seemed to settle down at least. That was a relief. Telleara didn't fancy doing this job with the firelizard constantly causing a commotion in her ear. Her raking got her to the edge of the sands. She pulled a handkerchief from her pocket and gently dabbed her face. But by Faranth it was hot in here. Changing her course the candidate moved to clear some rubbish from the entrance of the sands. The air was cooler here. Hopefully she could cool down a little here.

Well there wasn't any human waste left behind. There was the chewed up remains of a tunnelsnake. Really looking like it had been more played with than anything else.

The air is cooler here. Which probably explains why what Telleara finds is buried so deeply.

Sh'shi in square E5

Well wasn't that just delightful? Sh'shi scooped up the chewed remains and dumped them into her sack, wiping her hands together and shaking them slightly. She was starting to remember why she'd not sought out a firelizard already. They did seem to be keen hunters. Buttons didn't have a hunter's bone in his body. The feline was far too lazy for that. It was nice to come home to her weyr and not have to worry about finding some creatures mangled remains on her rug.

Satisfied with the state of the leaders box Sh'shi walked down onto the sands. It all looked to be in order, so she was really just giving it a once over.

Telleara in square A6

Okay, that was it, firelizards were noisy and stupid. Telleara had managed to turn up another egg. It was the same size as the first and clearly very young. The hallway wasn't the best place for it. Unattended it likely would have cooled and died before hatching. That was if someone didn't walk through and step on it. Probably some green had done it. They were dense enough to think that just burying it would help. The girl placed the second egg into her pouch. "Now it will have a companion. Is this to your satisfaction?" she asked the firelizard, who quickly snorted and turned away. The teen rolled her eyes, picked up her rake and heading back into the cavern.

Sh'shi in square D3

Sh'shi's step lightened noticeably as she crossed the sands and nodded in approval at how much better it was looking. It had been disheartening, to see it get this way. Potentially they should see about having some dragons come in here from time to time, just to make a point and keep the pests out. She doubted they'd be short of dragons willing to spend an afternoon lounging in the heated cavern.

Telleara in square D6

Would she get bonus points for staying until the task was completed. Would it make it look like she'd tried really hard at helping. That would certainly help her reputation. Would finding the eggs homes herself do that too? It was taking work away from the Headwoman. The considerate candidate lightening her burden. Then again she wasn't sure she would know who to give them over too so that was problematic. Then she'd be stuck with them. She certainly couldn't say she would find them homes and then go back on it in a sevenday when they were closer to hatching. That would make her look incompetent at best. Oh well, back onto the sands again.
