Name: Gwenyn Arrhen
(Gwenyn - comes from gweywyn, poison in welsh)
(Arrhen - comes from Svante Arrhenius, one of the founders of the science of physical chemistry.)

Blood colour: Greenblood - #41c427

Gender: Female

Symbol: User Image

Profile: Gwenyn is a rather muted and silent troll. This isn't because she's shy or nervous— In fact, she is rather candid and sociable when she wants to be. She simply doesn't know how to express her emotions to others, and doesn't quite understand how to form a natural friendship with other trolls from lack of a proper relationship with her lusus. She walks through life with a cynical and analytical outlook, knowing how unbalanced the world is in terms of blood color and society but uncaring as long as it doesn't affect her. She holds a begrudging appreciation of society's militaristic approach, recognizing that without gumption she will never amount to anything— But she simply cannot summon the same excitement to fight for an army that simply wants to take over other lands and establish its dominance. She wants to discover and find new information that can be used for her— Er, their benefit, not slam into somewhere new and destroy any possible research materials. She's disheartened herself by thinking she won't be able to do what she wants when older.

Gwenyn doesn't operate on the same wavelength as most trolls. She doesn't react to trolls begging for sympathy, and just doesn't care when she interacts with the needy or the rich. Other trolls lives never interested her, unless they show that they can be some source of ironic amusement for the greenblood. When seeing trolls fail or succeed using unconventional methods, she finds silent enjoyment in seeing them struggle with said ideas, when there was definitely a more logical solution to said problem. She treats everyone with the same sort of cool attitude, and she's conscious of this fact— Gwenyn understands how much of a terrible way to live that is, but can't bring herself to want to care about other trolls. She justifies this with how bad the troll society is as a whole and how her own lack of moral compass is lost in the sea of other trolls doing bad. She convinces herself by thinking of something worse other trolls do, and comparing it to what she's doing. It's a fool-proof cycle she tricks herself into believing so she doesn't feel guilt over any thing she may do. On this end, she justifies herself by taking advantage of any situation to benefit herself. She is not your cookie-cutter firmly-believes-in-the-hemospectrum highblood— Gwen chooses to follow it because it is beneficial to her, but otherwise, as long as it doesn't impact her negatively, she doesn't use it. While she's a bit bitter at having her future planned out for her, she choses not to oppose the government due to the possibility of being an official researcher in the future. Even then, colors and political stance does not interest her unless playing a part in her experiments.

She finds morals to be something like a cute superstition— While Gwen respects the morals and personal rules of others and finds them almost endearing, she herself doesn't adhere to them. She believes she is an exception to this rule, not because of her bloodcolor, but because of her self-proclaimed profession. The only thing she truly lives and breathes for is one thing: Her unofficial research. Right now, as a kid, she does not have anything official, but when did that stop her? She's fascinated by death, and after witnessing her lusus kill several animals who aimed to harm her, she grew deeply interested in how easy it was to harm another being, be it a beast, troll, or alien. Discovering new things about their race on her own is one of the only things she feels comfortable with truly putting faith in, and she's motivated to do as much as she can, even as a kid. She's using this age to come up with the questions, research them later when she's older. Are highbloods truly better than lowbloods by blood alone? Why are seadwellers automatically top-dog? As they are so durable, are they more resistant to killer substances, do their bodies start to decompose faster than others? What types of wounds do different types of weapons leave? How much blood is too much blood before a troll begins to die? Questions such as these fuel her desire to learn and understand more, and Gwen has started her research by looking for or killing beasts herself so she can test their durability.

She's accepted her childhood as an experience she needs to get through before she can reach the epitome of her abilities, but it's been uneventful so far. Because of this, Gwenyn turns to reading and writing, mostly crime or horror stories that heavily detail the situations they're in(though her guilty pleasure are mystery and detective novels, especially the stories that explain the crime scenes in detail). She has a great interest in aliens, and is fairly excited by the possibility of space travel. She's interested in whatever new beings to be found and the possibility of finding out more and being the one to find it out only adds to this excitement. Unfortunately she cannot do much from her place on Alternia, so she focuses on her current research and searches the planet for remnants from space. She's enjoys hunting and from this has gotten into taxidermy, something both her lusus and she enjoy to do together. She enjoys taking vintage photographs, and has a special red room in her hive where she develops the pictures she takes.

Strengths: logical: Gwen will always pick the most practical, logical path. She likes choosing the most beneficial outcome and finds it easier to make a decision when she knows one will benefit her. She will not let her own or others situations get in the way of her decision. All decisions she makes have to do with her wellbeing and her research. Her first instinct is to focus on those two things, and then consider the rest in relation to the first two. If there is a path that will make things better for her, she will take it without a second thought, uncaring of if it harms or offends another. She places her goals above social niceties. This often means she will do what other trolls cannot, and carry out any uncomfortable or morally offensive situations.

observant: Gwenyn is fairly observant of the world around her. She is quick to notice any details or change in behavior of the trolls she interacts with-- While she doesn't care about their lives, she does find it amusing how they struggle to live or reach new heights using odd or unused methods. It just didn't make sense! Which was why she found it so entertaining. In most conversations or groups, she likes to stand back and watch, listening for any key details that may help her in the future, whether small or large.

Flaws: guarded: Gwen does not like being hurt. She is very careful with harmful objects, handling sharp or dangerous objects with utmost care. Her being hurt is one of the only times you will get some sort of emotional response from Gwen. This also applies to relationships— Gwen keeps everyone at arms distance for fear of being hurt and her general disinterest in others, and is especially careful when dealing with friendly trolls, believing their happiness to be façades they hide behind to disguise their true feelings. She shuts down any attempt to get close to a troll, and should they persist she will definitely ignore them or treat them harshly. It is only when a troll has to do with her research that she is comfortable with having another troll around her.

focused: When Gwenyn starts working on something, she gets too invested. It gets to the point that when she focuses on something, she does not pay attention to her surroundings, and blocks out whatever is going on around her. This leads to her ignoring others and her own needs, such as her own health. She will lock herself into a room for nights on end, concentrating only on her project and forgetting her need of nutrition, exercise, and Darty's forced social interaction. This leads to her lusus constantly checking up on her, even when she requests he not bother her.

Weapon: Bow and arrow. She often poisons the tips.

Appearance: Very annapisar inspired! here's a ref sheet!
Clothes inspired by this, this, and this.

Home: In the plains of New Hemisect City, she lives in a fairly normal 2 story hive, where Darty and Gwen live. In her block, under a rug on the floor, there is a secret tube that transports her to her secret laboratory!

Lusus: Darty is a large, white poison dart frog with blank eyes and a permanently slack jaw. His skin is covered in a thick layer of poisonous slime, of which he is immune to— but Gwenyn is not, and so they avoid any and all physical contact. Such has made Gwen seem like a frigid troll to others, but in reality, she just feels uncomfortable touching others. A tiny part of her is scared they'd hurt her by touching her, in similar fashion to her lusus. Darty and Gwenyn have a purely need-based relationship as defined by Gwenyn, in that when she needs something from him, he will do something for her or about it. She's placed specific boundaries in their relationship so she doesn't get attached to him, something Darty wants to respect, but feels a little uncomfortable with. He may be covered in poison, but gosh darnit he picked her for a reason! He wants to spend time with her and understand what she does, but he's a simple-minded lusus that doesn't fully get her often times very complex work. To make up for it, he places the occasional rule on her, but often times it is so poorly worded Gwenyn exploits it for its implied reason. She is very good at finding loopholes, something she takes advantage of in secret, whenever she can.

Aside from the stale physical relationship between the two, they have a strained and formal relationship, where Gwenyn believes it is his duty to serve her and not to make it any more personal. Darty doesn't correct her from nervousness. The occasional time Gwenyn decides to talk of her research, he doesn't really understand but he wants to show her he supports her, so he nods along he does his best. While Gwenyn has often felt a need for comfort or reassurance, she instead depends on the words of her research.

Hey Quite!

Nice start with Gwen, but currently you have a lot of contradictions surrounding her perception of other trolls and the hemospectrum. You say that she understands how life is unbalanced for other trolls in your first paragraph, and then say in the second that she has no sympathy for them because she does not understand. You also say that she uses the hemospectrum when it benefits her (which as a midblood would be about half the time), but otherwise does not adhere to it. Does she rebel against highbloods and authority?

Remember that trolls at kidstage should not have professions! Skill level should be appropriate to their age. On that note what do her experiments/research consist of?

Does Gwen have an interest in research aside from biology/death? You mention that she abhors the pursuit of galactic dominion, but this stands out to me regarding her general lack of empathy and fascination with death/biology.

Careful is reading a bit like a flaw and a strength. The flaw aspect of it also reads a lot like her other flaw, “Distant”. I would revisit this!

Finally, I am a little cautious as she reads a bit like a sociopath at the moment. Otherwise, that’s all I got!

Don't have my stamp, but you know the drill. Strike out your post in the review thread!

I like what Gwenyn's strengths say about her, but there's a lot of overlap between the two. Both descriptions of her logicality and self-serving tendencies focus on her ability to analyze a situation and pick the course of action that best suits her, regardless of social fallout. Being self-serving is the logical course of action. IIIIIIII'm personally not sure how you could separate them if you wanted to go that route, but I do think Gwenyn's got plenty of fodder for strengths if you wanted to combine the two she's got and add a new second one.

That's all I've got for her! The rest is looking great.
