For the third time in his life, Al found himself in Other Ashdown. Lots of people talked about it, lots of people envied those that could float between the realms, some even got excited when they made it to the other side. Al, on the other hand, didn't want anything to do with the place. Had stolidly refused to even acknowledge its existence in the months after the faerie ball. Somehow, he'd successfully avoided it. Until now.

"Well, ********." He murmured.

Moments ago, he'd been scrubbing at a particularly stubborn smudge on one of the B&B's many decorative mirrors. Apparently, he'd leaned into it a bit too hard and had fallen directly through it. He still had the old rag he'd been using to wipe at the smudge clutched in his fist. In his other hand, he held a mop. He'd been doing a bit of spring cleaning, readying the house for what he expected to be a influx of business as the kids broke free from their schools, ready to enjoy their vacation.

Without hesitation, he broke off the wet end of the mop. He felt better, having a weapon on him. It wasn't much, but he could probably get a good jab in if he needed to.

A sound from behind broke his contemplation and he whipped around, brows furrowed. "Who's there, then?" His voice was gruff, unfriendly. He knew what sort of freaks the OAD could produce, and he wasn't about to let anyone get the upperhand on him.

It turned out that there was, of all things, a flying squirrel on a nearby branch. It's eyes were, strangely enough, a rich warm brown. The small creature watched Alister for a moment before it took off.
