[PRP] Round 2 - FIGHT (alg & shun)

Alg had texted Shun to meet him in other ashdown and to arrange their rematch. This time on different ground.

With magic.

Of course getting there was always a trial but easier now than it used to be and they met in what would be one of the larger intersections in town because of the size associated and the fact that he'd like, if possible, to not wreck anything that mattered. Was he planning mass destruction? No.. but he could shoot lightning out of his hands.

This time he was wearing one of his usual impeccable suits and flipping through a book when Shun found him. Alg didn't at all look like he was about to fight.

Other Ashdown. It was as good of a chance as any to become better acquainted with his... new eye. After using the pendant for a quick ride over to the otherside, he went ahead and removed his eye patch. His left eye was completely black save for a single white dot of a pupil at the center. Something like black smoke was steadily oozing fromt he socket as well. It slowly rose up before dissipating into the air.

It was weird seeing with both that and his actual eye. Dark outlines all around, and how he saw people was even stranger. It seemed everyone had some shadowy mass within them. Some sort of darkness. He wasn't sure what that meant yet, and he wasn't about to go around in public with the eye exposed to get a better sample of how different people appeared. He just saw he had a fair bit of it within himself.

"Algernon," he greeted as he approached the older man. If he didn't know any better, it just seemed that the author was merely spending some quiet time reading on this side of the veil.

Looks were deceiving.

"Shun," Alg glanced up, smiled, then paused a moment at sight of the new eye. "Well that's certainly something."

Things had a way of correcting, over correcting, and working through with magic these days so long as you looked for it. It seemed the younger man had found a way around his injury.

"What's it like?" He was genuinely curious and as he approached it was clear he was staring at the eye and trying to examine it. Visually anyway.

Shun was staring a bit at Alg as well. There was a surprising amount of the dark shadowy... whatever within him.

"Weird as hell. Everything is shadowy out of that eye. I see dark outlines and the like."

Combined with normal vision, it made everything... strange. It definitely took some getting use to.

"People also have... something extra. Varying degrees of darkness. I do not yet know what that means, if anything."

"Spooky."

Alg adjusted his glasses, looking again and wondering how much darkness he had but not enough to ask. Maybe he wouldn't like what he heard and who knew what it meant anyway.

"No extra powers?" He waved his hand, "You know.. flashy things?" Just curious really. Alg didn't even know Shun's abilities beyond what he'd seen.

"With the eye? Not that I am aware of," Shun shrugged. In Other Ashdown, he supposed if he really wanted to, he could try to shoot lasers or whatever from it, but that wasn't something he could do otherwise.

The detective rolled his shoulders before looking around at the surrounding area.

"All out magic or only our innate abilities here?" he asked. It was an important question. They were technically capable of far more in Other Ashdown. There would be magic either way, it was just a matter of how much magic was allowed. He'd make due regardless.

"Always worth asking, you never know.." Alg chuckled.

Shun's rolling shoulders looked as if he were ready to go already and so Alg closed his book. He didn't tuck it away though as to him, a book was a valuable weapon.

"I hadn't thought about it, to be honest.. but I'm fine with just my innate powers I think," They came more naturally now and to conjure from nothing often involved thought that wouldn't be there in the moment, "You're free to do what you like."

"Sticking with innate abilities is fine with me," Shun nodded. Which for him mostly meant no shadowed ice. He took notice that Alg was keeping a hold onto his book.

Now that he thought about it, didn't he throw a book at Beel during the ball? Was he going to throw that book at him?

Looking around, he spied the shadow cast by one of the buildings, and began to back up towards it.

"Well then, ready when you are," he stated before his form seemed to melt away from view as he stepped into the shadow.

"If that's enough for you.." Alg chuckled. "If you think you need it, feel free."

His book slapped lightly against his palm, though it made a rather louder thud than it should. He watched Shun back up, disappear into the shadows, and he smirked a bit. With a little though he could probably reach out to the living shadows, call them for help, but instead he waited and as he did so began to lift off the ground.

Several feet off the ground.

In one hand a book, in the other nothing but a subtle crackle.

Shun held still in the shadows as he watched Algernon slowly rise up over the ground, book in hand. He also took note of the subtle crackle in his offhand.

After a moment's pause, he teleported out to get behind the older man. As he reappeared above the ground in a small burst of darkness, he kicked out towards Alg's back while he fell.

Alg was not quick enough on his own to spin and interrupt the kick, though he did seem to air dash out of the way. Without even turning a pair of giant furry arms, Bear Arms, seemed to burst from the air around the older man and simply swat Shun down.

Alg spun in the air then, a ball of lightning firing from his hand towards the other.

Shun did not expect Alg to exercise his right to Bear Arms. Literally. He managed to twist himself enough to avoid the swat, but the jolt of lightning arced into him. Grunting lowly as the shock caused him to falter, he took a moment before running on towards the floating old man. This might be easier if he could ground him somehow.

He jumped up as he drew near, twisting his body before unleashing a powerful blast of wind around his body in an attempt to knock Alg down.

Unfortunately when you hit a floating man with wind he only floats further. Algie was blasted back from Shun, though he raised his arms as it to block it, the bear arms also crossed and while it gave a bit of wind resistance it didn't stop him from being pushed away.

Alg countered again with lightning, this time much more like a sith spray of electricity than a ball. There was a distinct sense that the older man was limiting himself with the abilities he was currently using.

Shun was good at dodging. However, it was very hard to dodge lightning, especially when it came branching out like it did. He gritted his teeth, freezing in place as the attack jolted through him. Breathing a little heavily, he looked around, spotting a garbage can on the corner of the street. This was going to take a lot out of him, but it was worth a shot.

He blinked over to where it was, grabbing a hold onto it, then teleported to the opposite side of Alg to hurl the trashcan at him. He shadowstepped one more time in an attempt to strike the older man, hoping the trashcan would have been enough of a distraction.

A bear arm swung to block the trash can but it also obscured Alg's view and by the time he spotted Shun the younger man was close and striking.

He took the hit, retaliating with his own punch with an electrified fist. It was followed quickly by a swung book, which if successful, felt more like being hit with the flat side of a brick.
