[NOTE: Cass may be heard shouting from the basement of The Fourth Wall. Feel free to reference this in any RPs. This is just to document my amusement for her through the series, lmao]

Demon's Souls - Character Creation

She'd been told she would enjoy these. She'd done enough research to know why she'd missed out on the series of games, but as the opening cinematic began, Cass leaned onto her knees thoughtfully as she read the text. Demons, yes. God created a something or other. Yes. Dragon thing with EXTRA MOUTH. Excellent.

Cass had no idea what she was about to get into.

The character creation screen was as dated as she had felt it was going to be, but happily set upon her quest to make the ugliest character in all of sin. Because that would be her small joy in life.

She named her Ted.

Demon's Souls - Tutorial

"Hero of Boletaria, I can get behind that. Walk into mist of death, this is going to be 'The Fog' only with less Lepers." Was that the right movie? Or was that 'The Mist'? One was Lepers, one was pirates. She couldn't remember now. Ted looked beautiful in that armor with her bright a** hair and as warped face as possible.

A few steps forward once she was put into control. "Oh hey, glowy thing on the ground. Aha! Controls..." Hmmmmmm. Wandered forward a little bit more. "More controls!" Ok. Controls were good. She kind of wished they didn't wait so long to give them to her, but whatever. Cassandra finally meandered Ted out into the open.

Zombies! "Zombies are standard fare!" Cass thought nothing as she took down the whole two she was given to start with and continued on. A few more zombies than last time. OK, they were easing her into i- aaannndd she was dead. "What the <********>." she swore as her character reloaded. Cass bypassed the first group of zombies back to the second. They followed. Ted died. "...Okay...okay..." she took a deep breath and continued again. This time much more carefully.

Demon's Souls - The Nexus

Souls of the Lost withdrawn from their vessels. Soul of the Mind, key to life's ether. Let strength be granted so the world might be mended. So the world might be mended.

"Lord, her accent is strange." Cass noted, trying to place it. She failed. Still, she listened quietly to the instructions the woman gave her. OK. Demons. OK. Old One (was it Cthulu?). Archstones, OK. Go into that one? Got it. She was good at following instructions sometimes and clearly the game wanted her to start there for a reason.

Demon's Souls - Boletarian Palace 1-1

Castle setting! That was nice and normal! A few zombies here and there. Ted made their way across the wall at a slow pace, pausing as Cass fumbled with the <******** parry controls why against zombies ineffectively. She just started to settle for mashing the 'attack' button a lot.

"OK..up..up..." Ted was moved around in a circle as Cass tried to guess where she'd need to move her hideous avatar next. "...Stairs?" she found some and started her way up. At the top, it was time for path exploration.

"Aaannnd this dude has red eyes, let's not." Cass turned Ted around and marched her right back out, screaming off into another room as the red eyed enemy chased after her. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. Nope. NOPE. Cass continued to run like a madman thru enemies while continuing to whisper 'Nope nope nope nope'.

Hey look, they did eventually stop chasing her! OKAY! New tactic. Run screaming until we don't crumple like paper. Got it.

And a drop down.

There was a dude down the drop down. Cass eyed him warily, preparing her sword and gently nudging Ted down. He didn't move. Cass nudged Ted forward until a prompt to 'talk' appeared. "FRIEND"

Friend who needed her to wipe out some dudes when he too had a sword. Cass squinted at him and slowly eased Ted down. This was a lot of dudes. She hoped her new friend would be worth potentially dying over. Fortunately, it was a bit more straightforward than that. With enough running and screaming (and getting her character high on weed) she eventually found Ted victorious.

Now new friend gave her a gift (a telescope? Could she use this?).

"Friend. You give the worst things." Cass decided. The telescope would never be looked at again. But he did walk around and help her kill stuff. She had so many souls. What did she do with them? No clue. She'd hold onto them since they were clearly important.

Also nobody was dropping anything else but weed and firebombs. That was a little boring.

Bridge!

Ted started across the bridge. This bridge seemed too saf-

DRAGON.

After being 1-shotted by the first boss, Cass and Ted retreated from the dragon, sitting back to wait and see what would happen. Cautious. Careful. .... He waSN'T LEAVING. Maybe this wasn't the way to go.

Backtrack...Nope. Nowhere else to go. Did she miss an obvious route?

Back to the dragon....carefully....nothing? RUN.

Oh she ran. She ran so fast.

Oh hey, lever. Aaann- CUTSCENE! "Yes! I found something good if there's a-...spear." Heck. "I get to try this boss more than once, right??" She really hoped so. She was still irked she only got one shot at the first one. Cass spent a minute investigating the room, and now down the stairs...SLIMES. SLIMES WITH SPEARS. OW!

"STOP. THROWING. THINGS. AT. ME!!!" she yelled as she stabbed one in the face and continued on down. She was almost at the bottom of the stairs when a spear hucked into Ted again.

YOU DIED.

Demon's Souls - Boletarian Palace 1-1 Boss

Back at the beginning. "Now I have to go...through all of that..again..." Cass could have cried as she made her way across the bridge, destroying, in frustration, her enemies. Ted's enemies. Whatever. Stab stab, swing. As she made her way up the stairs, she paused.

"Spear!" she recognized that spear!

Cass nearly cried. She didn't have to go all the way back around again!

Up the stairs and into the now raised door, Cass headed in. "Careful, Ted. Careful. There's something in he- YOU!" Cass pointed at the screen as the word 'PHALANX' and a health bar appeared at the bottom of the screen along with a large blobby thing covered in the spear-slimes that had murdered her not too long ago.

And then spears. "No, no, no, no, no, no nonononono," Ted rolled away to no avail.

YOU DIED.

"HECK!"

Spear, spear, spear

YOU DIED

Cass frowned, biting her lower lip to keep from shouting again. She'd wake up Cid's baby from the basement of the shop when the baby wasn't even here.

Cass took a deep breath, setting the controller in her lap. "Why....am I.....DYING ALL THE TIME!!!!???" It seemed she could make Godzilla noises from the screech that emerged.

Try Fire.

Cass had found a message outside of the boss room door that seemed to have been highly rated. Looking through her inventory, Cass found she had a couple of 'firebomb' items. Only like 4, but never the less fussed with her equipment and threw them on.

In the door she went. She was ready for these spear bastards. She and Ted both. Rolling and ducking behind a pillar, she tapped one of her control sticks to target one of the slime-y spear things (did they have names? She had no idea) and tossed one of the firebombs at it. It and a neighboring slime went down nearly immediately and Cass grinned. It had exposed some sort of glowing sphere underneath everything.

"Aha! A helpful note was helpful!" she said, carefully making her way around to another pillar and preparing to toss another firebomb. She only had a few so she had to make them count. "All I gottttaaa doo...." she trailed off, but the thought remained: I just need to get these spear guys down so I get less of them shoved up my a**.

She had one firebomb left. Carefully, she chucked it at the mass too. The glowing orb, which had been exposed previously, writhed and it's health decreased. A lot.

She pushed Ted up to stab one of the shield-stabby-slimes, then backed off to hide. Then back up. It was going to be a slow process.

One by one, she nudged them down and out of the way, taking the time to mind her health. That fire tip had been great.

Finally, enough of the glowing orb had been exposed she felt safe attacking it directly. It immediately started to crumple under her attacks without spear-slimes on that side of it to defend it. In fact, with those pesky little Ted-killers out of the way, the boss went down with very little issue.

THE DEMON WAS DESTROYED

"YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS."

Now she could go a little further, she guessed.

Demon's Souls - The Nexus

The maiden in black explained to Ted (and therefore Cass) that she needed to speak to the monumental, the camera vaguely panning to show where said 'Monumental' was.

Cass spent 35 minutes and 6 deaths trying to find the Monumental.

Cass really didn't care. Yes, archstones. Yes, the Old One. Mmmhmmm, Monumentals. What if she liked being weirdly perma-alive?

Was this thing going to PA her for saying she wasn't going to slay the Old One?

....

Yep, there it was. Could she just keep playing despite saying she wasn't going to kill it? Time to find ou-- wait she didn't meant to step th-
