Profile: Philip is a seeker of the truth, above all else! A plucky and curious troll, he grew up interested in the secrets of others from a young age. At first his investigations were a sort of hobby that his lusus Bzzter tolerated before Philip decided he wanted to turn it into a job. He is starting to offer his services to other trolls as an amateur private detective now and is always looking for more clients and cases! As an orangeblood, he is always in need of beetles and thus rarely turns a case away. The only cases he declines are ones that request him to commit a violent act against another troll- he wants to be a detective not a hitman. Philip is not against using physical means to try and escape or protect himself, he simply does not want to become a known hired assassin instead of his true passion.

One thing to note about Philip's work is that he focuses on finding the truth- not in enforcing justice. Philip knows that there are some truths that will do more harm than good if announced to the public. He prefers to learn the truth and pass it on to the client who requested it and let them decide what to do with the information. He believes that he needs to let the trolls who are closest to the truth or the ones who will be effected by it have the final say in what to do with it. Deep down he hopes the trolls will do what is best for as many trolls as possible but is aware that isn't always the case.

While Philip is not exactly two-faced, he does have a serious mode he enters when the situation becomes dire or when he thinks he's getting close to figuring out the final truth. For the most part, Philip is a cheerful and energetic troll who doesn't let much get him down. He knows Alternia isn't perfect but is content with his life as long as he can keep scraping by. An optismist, Philip takes chances on things that don't always have guarantees- like taking a loan that he may or may not be successful enough to pay back. He's clever enough to work his way out of easy problems and enjoys the challenge of hard ones. It is when things become hard that his silly behavior disappears and he becomes focused and straight to the point. When he does this, he brushes the hair out of his eyes to get a better look at things, to which Bzzter jokingly calls Philip the name Bonnde after a popular Alternian franchise that centers around a fictional spy.

When it comes to the hemospectrum, Philip isn't thrilled by it but accepts it as a guide for how to expect most other trolls to behave. He doesn't feel compelled to try and change the system nor does he want to invest his time in that effort. Neither does Philip want to try and change or influence any trolls who disagree with his reluctant acceptance of the hemospectrum. Philip is aware that not every troll will fall into the roles and beliefs of the hemospectrum and thus tries not to assume anything until he's witnessed enough of their behaviour to have a good enough understanding of how to guess they will act. The hemospectrum is basically a loose guideline or tool for Philip.

Some of Philip's hobbies include thrift shopping, playing cards, and jazz music. He enjoys the complexities of jazz music and often tunes his radios to the jazz station. Philip also likes to take walks and simply see what's going on around whether he's in the city or some other location. Philip is a social troll who enjoys discovering things or people he did not know before. His hobby of playing cards is sometimes used as an ice breaker in order to get to know someone better.

Philip's biggest hobby is collecting disguises that he uses for his work. As a detective, he likes to blend in to the crowd or go unnoticed when working. To achieve this he regularily dresses in hemoanon clothes but also likes to use disguises for when his normal clothes aren't appropriate for the occassion. His first and most commonly worn disguise is a janitorial uniform that he dons and uses to gain access to buildings or get close to targets and investigate. He has purchased a few other costumes as well, typically from thrift stores and then repaired into decent working condition.

Strengths:
observant - Due to the nature of his job, Philip is good at noticing minute details around him that clue him in on information about his surroundings. He is good at seeing subtle ticks in body language to notice emotional changes in temperament in order to press for information or back off to avoid conflict. His personality sometimes comes across as silly or stupid but he is always secretly paying attention. Philip takes great pride in his ability to note seemingly unimportant things and remember them later when he needs to. He's got a great memory but will also write some things down in a small note black notebook if he thinks he needs to.

tenacious - When Philip has accepted a task or gotten an idea, he sees it through. His determination to find the truth could border on obsessive if his lusus wasn't there to keep him grounded in reality. However, this means that Philip's word is reliable and he will soldier through any setbacks or problems to deliver what he said he'd do. Even if it took him many sweeps to find an answer, the case would stay in the back of his mind as something to work on. This applies to personal promises too, not just business. His ability to complete a task no matter what strengthens his relationships with his friends and clientele. Being able to finish what he starts boosts his reputation and his self esteem.

Flaws:
precarious - In his pursuit of answers, Philip walks the line of getting too close for comfort to many of Alternia's dangers. He puts himself in risky positions where one mistake could reveal his intentions and either ruin his cover or worse, subject him to punishment. He is constantly pushing boundaries and limits to get closer to the truths he seeks. His work requires a delicate balance between asking questions and maintaining secrecy and he doesn't always get it right!

selfless - In an attempt to help others, Philip tends to adjust his prices and sometimes even work pro bono for trolls in need. He frequently takes on more than he can handle and rarely turns anyone away. These actions pile up and leave Philip to sort through everything despite being overwhelmed and financially poor. His kindness has good intentions but Philip refuses to listen to any lectures about imposing limits, despite the toll it takes on him.

Weapon: hand guns

Appearance: Philip wears a dark grey trench coat with a light grey button down shirt underneath along with black pants, socks, loafers, and gloves. The final touch is a dark grey trilby hat with a black stripe around it. His short hair is parted down the middle and flips out at the ends. His horns are cube shaped and poke through his hat.

Home: Philip lives in a dingy low-rise apartment in New Hemisect City. His hive doubles as a makeshift "office" in downtown New Hemisect. It is cluttered with papers and various items he calls evidence. He has lots of storage devices such as safes and filing cabinets but they fill up quickly! Most of his furniture is cheap and purchased at thrift shops, so they differ in terms of appearance and rarely match. Philip purchases light bulbs for cheap in bulk from a questionable source and thus they tend to last for unreliable periods of time. He's learned how to get by with very little lighting.

Lusus: Philip’s lusus is a fly named Bzzter. Bzzter is small but strong enough to protect Philip in his own way! He uses his size to his advantage and zips around threats quickly, injecting them with venom or pinching tight with his legs to inflict pain. If he's gotten a good grip on something or someone, Buzzter can even dig his feet into the skin and try to slice as he flies along it!

Bzzter is a very observant lusus, knowing when to shut up and simply watch. He’s Philip’s “fly on the wall” and often helps Philip with his investigations. Bzzter knows Philip is passionate about being a detective and finding the truth no matter what! This business is dangerous so Bzzter figures it's better to be involved in helping Philip rather than argue with him about it and cause Philip to try and do things without any help. The two of them get along pretty well, despite having different viewpoints on how to do things.

Bzzter understands troll language and has taught himself how to read in order to be able to communicate information back to Philip. He can do do this by either speaking to him in fly language, which Philip has learned from his parent, or by flying in charade-like patterns. Lastly, because he’s learned how to read, Bzzter also has the option of dipping himself in ink and flying across paper to write.
