Paprika shortened
Reppep = Pepper backwards

Blood colour: Color: #aa1111

Gender: Male

Symbol: Pepper

Profile:

In Papika's thinkpan, being successful and happy means not having any problems or worries. Sadly, Pakika does have problems and worries, fears he refuses to admit to having. He covers these up with the magic of humor. He refuses to admit to having problems, and so has intensely dedicated himself to the mindset that life is a game, a joke, and that if he ignores the bad things, they will go away.

Papika is all about fun, and getting a good laugh. He uses his natural humor to his advantage, spinning things just the way he wants them to go. The redblood is a definite believer in the hemospectrum, and likes his place at the bottom, or at least he tells himself that. Papika complies in a subtle way, confirming his low rank through self degrading jokes and the like. Never ever will a highblood be the butt of the joke, unless its to the gain of some even higher blooded troll. Lowbloods can take a hit, its fine to shove them under the buss because no one will really bother with them once they are done laughing. Most importantly, if anything goes wrong, its all a joke. You didn't mean any of it, its all for fun, cant you take a joke? Come on don't be a stick in the mud, don't be a party pooper.

Papika prefers big crowds. With more people comes more options for the butt of a joke. When Papika is alone with someone, the only one he can make the butt of the joke is himself. And don't get him wrong, hes fine with that if that's what it comes to, but its better to laugh with someone at someone else, then laugh with someone at one's own self. That just gets sad fast.

This redblood is spunky, always up for adventure or a party, assuming the event does not go anywhere near something dangerous. He would never admit to not wanting to go on an adventure, but if on such a thing, he will do his best to be safe, using humor and joking around to hide his fear. Papika does use his jokes to subtly hint or drive a situation in his favor, but if nothing is working, he will bury and fear and make do with what he has.

Living life like a joke or a game means nothing is ever bad or serious. Something terrible happen, like a fire, or a severed limp? Well its not sad, its funny, see? Tragedy is always funny! You just need to lighten up! Papika is always able to overlook or even outright ignore the bad things in his life when his life is a joke. He has a hard time with more down to earth trolls, or wet blanket types, but that does not mean the boy will give up. Every troll has a funny bone, its just about finding it and giving it a good tickle. Papika likes being a lowblood, or so he will say, as it means he has little to no responsibilities. As a lowblood no one is expecting anything great from him, combined with his "everything i do is a joke" attitude, he cant fail! It gets to him sometimes, never giving anything his all or really trying hard, but its how he protects his pride. Hes never actually failed at anything, and hes proud of that, even if it is just because he has never actually tried. Just don't think about that last part and everything is fine!

Papika has mixed feelings about his lusus, Puppet. The creature shows love and affection towards the troll, but sometimes its morbid appearance can really make Papika turn tail and cower. He really appreciates it when Puppet takes the fall for a joke, but at the same time, its degrading to have a lusus who is always the butt of a joke. Papika is often torn between a pride he tries to hide, and his need to be liked by others. Its shameful to have a joke of a lusus, but at the same time, he knows that as a redblood, his pride is of the lowest importance, compared to the rest of his race. This internal battle and frustration can make Papika's jokes sometimes cruel and jarring without his meaning to.

Papika's fear of danger, and his desire to treat life like a joke often conflict. It mostly comes up when he is trying to impress someone, trying to show that hes a fun guy, with no worries and no cares. This can get him into quite a few tricky situations. He is often worried and scared, in the back of his mind, but if he admits to being scared, then those fears are real, and its like admitting that there are actual problems in his life. He prefers to ignore the screaming voice in his head, pretending is so much easier.

Strengths:
Party Troll:
one who is interested in little else besides attending parties
Need something to put a smile on that face? Feeling down and just need some enthusiastically silly troll to laugh at and be silly with? Then Papika is your troll. He loves the attention of being the "class clown", and bringing smiles with it just great.

People Pleaser:
They never say “no.” You can always count on them for a favor.
Papika goes out of his way to make sure your feeling good when hes around. He wants to be liked, and hopefully invited out again, so the redblood will do just about anything relating to humor to make a troll smile. He believes its very important to please highbloods, but its also equally important to suck up to lowbloods, just not as much as highbloods. He also goes out of his way to cheer up any troll that happens to be the butt of his joke. They were simply a casualty of the humor war, no hard feelings, laugh at me to make yourself feel better!

Flaws:
Heedless:
showing a reckless lack of care or attention
Papika tries not to take things seriously, there is too much fun to be had! Usually he has a voice in the back of his head, warning him of the lines and where not to cross, but just as often, the redblood will try and squash such voices out by doing things yet more recklessly than he would have otherwise. Often Papika gets swept up into things, and will do unwise things simply because it could be funny and someone is watching.

Coward:
a person who lacks the courage to do or endure dangerous or unpleasant things
Papika will act to the whims of whom ever is on top in a situation. He would not dare to support the loosing party, even if they go against his morals, and no matter his own personal feelings towards that individual. He may put on the airs of being a confident, fun-loving, carefree troll, but in reality, he is always worried, always on edge, and farther from his goal of happiness than ever. Which path leads to the least amount of danger but most amount of attention? That's the line Papika tries so hard to keep to.

Neutral
Class Clown:
constantly telling jokes and attracting everyone's attention in school
Papika wants to be the one doing the wildest, silliest, funnest thing. He wants the spotlight, and the attention that comes from being the guy everyone knows is the silly one. If given the opportunity to actually try something difficult, the troll will most-likely purposely fail in the most exaggerated way possible. That way every time he fails, its okay, because its a joke, so Papika never actually fails at anything.

Turn a Blind Eye:
    pretend not to notice
Papika is a strong believer in his ideal that unpleasant things can be completely ignored. Hes here to have fun, not stress out over whatever awful thing happened. He will ignore, or even downright deny that things are bad, no matter how hard you push. Unpleasant things require thinking, fun things don't, and he would rather do fun things any day.

Weapon:
Humor
Papika has not really given a weapon much thought. If he ever gets into a dangerous situation, he will try his hardest to defuse it with humor, or hide behind the toughest troll. Combat is for trolls trying to prove something, and this redblood only wants to prove how funny life can be.

Appearance:
Casual button down shirt, sleeves rolled up, open with a t-shirt under it XX Outer Shirt with some pepper pattern; suggestions: XX or XX or XX
Tennis shoes,
Long pants

Chittentown
Chittentown is a safe place to be. Usually always someone of equal rank to a redblood, few highbloods to worry about, and generally a good natured city. Papika lives in a small hive dug into the side of Chittentown's steep rocky walls, right above a restraint. The boy managed to get the hive in exchange for washing dirty dishes, telling customers a good humored pun or two, and generally helping out. In addition, Papika has access to all the burnt fries and miss cooked orders he can eat.

Lusus:
Puppet
Papika's lusus is a creature called Puppet. The creature is an odd one, concerning appearances, and often unintentionally weirds its troll out with its appearance. See Puppet is a parasitic bug that weaves its home from the corpses of dead things. Wanting to make its troll feel more at ease, the creature chose a troll corpse to make its home in. In order to try and bond with its child, Puppet has preserved the body of a troll that resembles Papika, and uses that body to go about its daily life. The body is moved and controlled through a complex puppet string system that the insect has weaved throughout the corpse, keeping it together, and functional.

Sadly, tho Puppet tries hard, its difficult to make long dead things look alive. So, Puppet is often dressed in more clothes than a troll would find necessary, simply to hide its decaying body. Puppet has managed to live as a "troll" while taking care of Papika, and has actually never revealed to its child that it is a bug in a dead troll's body. Of course Papika has some idea in mind, what with Puppet's arms sometimes falling off, or Puppet getting hungry and consuming part of its meat puppet as a snack. It can always find more dead troll to fix its disguise up, so its not really any problem for the insect lusus.

Otherwise, Puppet is a very easygoing lusus, and has often dressed up its corpse and played the butt of the joke if there are no trolls lower in rank than Papika. Not always able to explain away rotting arms or the like, Puppet greatly encourages the use of comedy to cover up such incidents. Its here where the redblooded troll originally got his sense of humor. Papika, tho, tends to avoid morbid jokes himself, not wanting to bring any of his growing suspicions about Puppet to mind. Instead Papika buries these traumatic moments, playing the comedy card ever harder. Puppet is a fairly oblivious creature, having little in the way of social experience with trolls, and hardly notices Papika's feelings about Puppet's physical appearance. It often leads to disconnect between troll and parental figure, which confuses Puppet, but the lusus does not really know what to do about it, so it will often play pranks on itself, thinking if Papika laughs all is well. The insect has learned tho, to keep most of its molding body out of public view, sure the occasional dropped leg, or fallen off ear can be explained away, but its just better in general to keep it all under wraps.

So far Papika is sounding really good! I like what you have done with the way he hides his fears behind a clown-ish persona in order to avoid dealing with them. There's a lot of great stuff in here and I only have a few notes.

Quote:
The redblood is a definite believer in the hemospectrum, but there is no way he would just come right out and say that. He complies in a more subtle way.

I am a little confused by this part of the profile. Is there a reason he wouldn't admit he believes in the hemospectrum? It is the social norm to follow it and there typically wouldn't be any repercussions for a lowblood to follow the system (meanwhile there certainly could be problems for lowbloods that reject the hemospectrum).

It would be interesting to know a little more in depth about Papika's feelings about his lusus since Puppet is incredibly terrifying (while trying to be non-threatening). You have good information about how Puppet feels about Papika and tries to accommodate him. Does Puppet have thoughts about Papika's calculating and frightened worldview (since he might be the cause of it)? Does Papika like his lusus/having his lusus around? You don't need to go into a lot of detail on this but a little more explanation of their relationship would be good!

That's all! I think Papika's very close!

Got a couple questions for you: Why does Papika like being the lowest on the spectrum and how does Papika pretend to have pride? Does he put on airs around others?

I'm having a hard time distinguishing Papika's danger avoidance from his laid-back attitude. He treats life like a game, regarding tragedy as little more than a joke, yet he is careful to remove himself from situations in which he might be hurt. Is this deliberate? It might just need a little more elaboration. (Also remember that on Alternia, virtually everything is dangerous, especially if you like adventure!)

Coward currently reads a bit like a strength. Papika seems to be well aware of the dangers that surround him and currently "calculates the odds". If he is taking into account the dangers of the world and avoiding them, that benefits him, doesn't it?

Finally just be careful that you're writing the "butt" of a joke. A blunt is a little different. ;P

Papika himself is looking good! Just a couple comments about his lusus. Namely the detail about fungus being responsible for zombification isn't canon. It's my and Sypon's personal headcanon, buuuuut the biology of zombies is something we try and avoid addressing in shop. As far as bugs puppeteering a dead body, though, that much is hunky-dory.

That said, because zombies are real on Alternia, a corpse wandering around town with a child would undoubtedly turn heads. Are there precautions Papika or Puppet take to make sure they don't get accosted by would-be zombie slayers? A disguise, perhaps? Or is there something about Puppet's habitation of the corpse that makes it look different from an actually dangerous zombie? Like is Puppet the bug visible, or is there some kind of hive structure holding the body together?

I'm seriously laughing at the idea of Puppet thinking it's being so cleverly disguised and just like... dropping an arm.

At this point I just want to clarify that Papika knows his lusus is... well, a lusus, and is just humoring Puppet's trollish disguise. I'd be kind of concerned for Papika otherwise. oAo

Everything else checks out, though!
