Profile:
Apibom is first and foremost a complete suck-up. They know their place on the hemospectrum, but they’re not entirely convinced that it means they have to spend their life playing the victim. Puff up enough egoes, do enough favors, and maybe something good will come of it… right? That’s what they believe, anyway. They’re not one to dwell on the misfortune of being born into one of the lower castes, and aren’t exactly keen on hanging around others who do dwell on it. Who has time for pessimists? Certainly not Apibom.

In fact, Api would say they don’t really have much time at all for anything. Api keeps themself busy at all times- and if they had the skills to actually introspect on why they’d be able to admit that they are just far too anxious a person to be able to stand sitting alone with their thoughts for too long… But in reality Api is not a very introspective person and will just say that they like to keep busy because, well, who likes boredom? Again, certainly not Apibom.

Api has a habit of picking up a new hobby any time they get “bored” of the old one- bored is usually code for “frustrated” or “realize they’re really bad at whatever it is they were doing” or “wow this looked interesting but actually it’s pretty dumb.” So boredom does play a part, but in comparison to the various other reasons Api drops a hobby it’s a very small part. Apibom would rather admit to being bored and possibly have something that is actually boring put on their plate than admit they were not good at something. Boredom is curable, stupidity is not. At least according to Apibom.

Apibom’s hobbies have ranged from FLARPing to hunting to sculpting and all sorts of things in between, but the one thing that really sticks with them is gardening. Just the right amount of busywork to keep them occupied with sweet rewards at the end- sometimes the plants give food! But most the time they just provide something for their lusii to pollinate. Feeding an entire colony is hard work, after all. Aside from gardening they also occupy their time with carpentry. They aren’t particularly good at it, but it requires so much concentration that Apibom just can’t stop- they need something to focus on after all.

Api is usually so focused on just occupying their mind that they don’t think much about the future, really. It’s not like trolls of their caste have much options- most of them lie in some form of servitude anyway, right? Why bother thinking about it? Life will just be an endless cycle of serving those above them with zero actual self-fulfillment, the entire world is built around highbloods, right? Right?!?

Truth be told, Apibom is not the positive, hardworking person they present themself to be. Despite how hard they try to mask it up (and oh boy do they try), Api has a deep existential fear and dread that their entire existence really doesn’t mean anything at all in the grand scheme of things. Stories of great trolls that affected society for the good or bad draw them in like a moth to the flame- they want so badly to be Known. To be Remembered when their short life comes to an end- but it isn’t meant to be, is it?

So instead they’ve managed to trick themself into a cycle of continuous nonsense to occupy their thoughts while trying to achieve the most comfortable position a lowblood of their position can achieve. Probably a highbood’s favorite subject or something. Who knows. Their dreams are aimed high but their expectations are rock bottom. Of course, if asked, they wouldn't be able to tell anyone what exactly they'd want to do in life. They just hate the idea of being a cog in a machine, easily replaced and even more easily forgotten.

Strengths:

Problem Solver:
Apibom cannot stand being stumped. Can’t. Handle it. They hate being thought of as stupid and so they will pour every ounce of energy that they can on solving a problem until they’re finally satisfied. Or at least until whoever presented the problem is satisfied. Which ever works. Granted, if they can't solve the problem they're prone to brushing it off on someone else or playing it up to be a Huge Deal, No One Could Ever Solve It.

Fast Learner:
Despite not really getting into things because they genuinely want to most of the time, Apibom is a very fast learner. They learn best when someone is speaking, so they tend to read books out loud to really memorize the contents. This is useful for when they want to pick up on a new skill to make themself appear more valuable to higher castes. Because honestly, if you want to make it big in life you gotta rub elbows with the high class trolls.

Approximate Knowledge of Many Things…:
Due to Api’s habit of picking up pastimes and then tossing them aside later, they’ve accumulated a lot of random knowledge about a bunch of subjects- and they’re happy to share that knowledge with others… usually out of the blue. It’s a useful trait for a lowblood trying to get by as pain-free as possible, you never know when that Etiquette for Dummies book will come in handy!

Flaws:

You’re on Your Own:
Apibom doesn’t really expect any charity from their fellow lowbloods, and they aren’t exactly going to dole it out to others either. Api is not the type to care much if they see a peer in trouble or down on their luck- after all, life isn’t fair is it? This earns them no friends, but they don’t dwell on that too much.

Jack of All Trades, but a Master of None:
Api may know how to do a lot of things- but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re good at those things. In fact, Api usually has enough knowledge to get started on something but often has no idea how to finish whatever it is they started. They’d rather eat a cactus than admit that, though. When this conflicts with their need to solve whatever problems get put on their plate, they'll usually have a good go at it until they come to realize they're unable to solve the problem. This is when they start playing it up like its a Big Deal and Not Solvable At All, or like its Not Worth Their Time (no they definitely aren't dumb!!). This trait of theirs fuels most of their hobby hopping, as once things start to get too difficult, they're likely to abandon ship and claim it was "boring."

I’m on my 5th Existential Crisis!:
Heaven forbid they ever sit still for too long. Apibom’s mind moves at a mile a minute and they have a tendency to hyperfocus on negative topics- namely… The fact that most lowbloods lead Not So Great lives and the fact that they are, indeed, a lowblood. Api’s hatred for admitting that they’re anything less than Perfect stems from this problem- in order to avoid the existential dread that’s constantly looming behind them they overwork themself and kiss up to anyone they think might give them a slight upper hand in life to the point where they oversell their skills and usefulness sometimes. Most of the time. It’s awful.

Weapon: Twin daggers shaped vaguely like stingers.

Appearance:
See image on the side! In essence:
Apibom has two horns that sprout from their forehead and curve upward- they look sort of like antennae! Their hair is choppy and short, they cut it themself most of the time because who wants to waste money on a barber?? Hair is easy! (No, no it isn’t…) Api usually wears loose clothes that are easy to move in, as they’re constantly on the move and hate feeling restricted. Expression wise, they tend to wear a cheery smile almost at all times.

Home:
A small cottage-like hive on the outskirt plains of New Hemisect City. Apibom gets plenty of view of the High Life they want to lead with the city looming off in the distance- but it’s very much out of reach. Api’s hive is very organized- everything has its place and some places are even labeled. The lawnring around their hive is filled with all sorts of plants, from your average flowering plants to actual edible things.

The general look of the hive is almost… hive-like……. In the sense that Api’s lusus very much influenced the design. The hive itself looks like a beehive that’s just… sitting on the ground, and the rooms are even comb-shaped.

Lusus:
Or rather, lusii. Api has an entire colony of bumblebees that look over them. Honestly, it was the colony that got them into gardening. They need flowers! And to be guarded from pests, like skunks or something. Nasty little things. Apibom is both very fond of and very annoyed by their swarm of guardians. If any one of them is their true guardian it’s the queen, and Api likes to refer to her as Her Majesty Fluffbottom - or just Fluff for short. Fluff is a rather large queen- she’s actually the size of Api’s palm and her subjects are only half as big as she is. These bees are not to be messed with- their stingers hurt and they are not afraid to use them. Apibom has learned to respect (and fear) their lusii over the sweeps. Thankfully they haven’t reacted with stinging in a while… Ugh.

The colony itself worries over Apibom- or rather, the queen does. The drones just do what she says. The perks of hormonal mind control… Anyway, Her Majesty thinks that Apibom needs to accept their place as a drone in society and get to work. None of these high and mighty dreams- those are for the real royalty, and her charge is not royalty material. Try as she might, she cannot seem to get the message into Api’s head. It’s both frustrating and saddening seeing the little troll get their hopes dashed for nothing.

Hi, Nepsah! I'm not an official critter, but I'd love to say Apibom is adoooorable!! ; u ; and I think its great that they're a jack of all trades!

One quick thing though- currently, the color you have for their blood is just a wee bit bright and would be considered mutant, which is only obtainable through winning a mutantblood troll. As a suggestion, this color (#C79902) is the same color only darkened to fit into the hemospectrum!

Apibom looks amazing! I can't wait to see them in action. I only have one note.

Currently their problem solving trait (which reads a lot like tenacious) and jack of all trades seem to conflict. Do they more often stick with a problem until it's done, or are they more likely to move on to the next thing?

Aside from that, I got nothing! Good work!

aaah thank you for pointing that out, Green! I totally missed it. I have edited the Jack of All Trades trait to explain how that works for them (its in red) ; D basically they're more prone to giving up on something if they can't figure it out. Since they do that I'm more inclined to keep the "Problem Solver" trait titled that way rather than switch it to Tenacious-- i feel if they stuck with the problem rather than give it up, then it would be an appropriate name change >__>;;
