Ducky felt at a loss on how to feel about jumping right into action all of a sudden. His mood was still poor; he still felt useless and unreliable. And what had been wrong with Daiki? Was it really okay for him to be riding a Solgaleo through the city, with all these bystanders gawking? Thankfully Katsu was cautious enough to stay on the outer edge of the city, sticking by the coasts that were least populated.
"There are falling stars causing some kind of disruption. We need to investigate. I can sense ultra space wormholes tearing open... Is it ultra beasts?" Katsu addressed Ducky, seeming rather unsure about the details, despite the sense of urgency in his tone. The suanni had no idea what these ultra beasts were, or what ultra space even was. However, before he could ask about that, there was something more important he needed to ask. "So.... uh, what happened with Daiki? Is it related to this at all?" he asked, leaning down into the white fur of Katsu's mane. Katsu gave a pondering hum. It was Lucina that appeared to have the answer, however. "I tend to have a harder time reading dark types, but ... Well, he suddenly keeled over, sleeping. He did not seem to be harmed at all." Luci spoke up, giving her take. "I don't think it's related, however. I am sure he will wake up any time now." she added. Ducky sighed in relief, though he was still slightly alarmed at the fact that the Zoroark had fell into a deep sleep suddenly. At the very least, it wasn't some kind of attack, it seemed. "So, are we going to the next island, then? I should be trying to get my next stamps, too. I'm guessing this would be a lot easier if I had some kind of flying transportation." Ducky asked, earning a nod from Katsu. The solgaleo then leapt through a wormhole that it just opened up, the other end opening up near Akala Island's Heahea city.

Upon stepping foot into the city, Ezra's Pokedex beeped to life and flew out in front of her. "Gifts waiting at the nearest Pokemon Center," it read. She blinked, "I didn't know that was a thing. Alright, I guess we're headed to the Pokemon Center first!"
This city was absolutely huge, she could see. Split up into different sections - at least it was organized. She found the familiar red roof without too much difficulty, and stepped inside. Rotom flew out of her bag and over towards the counter. Panicked, she rushed after it, worried she'd lose the gift the Professor had given her. Thankfully, the nurse knew exactly what to do, and set a tray full of all sorts of items on the counter for her.
Two Pokeballs, a handful of Razz berries, a TM, and some other items she didn't recognize. Quite the haul! And for just starting out? She was very lucky! She thanked the nurse and put the items in her bag, and curiously opened the Pokeballs.
A Torchic and Ralts appeared in front of her, she was happy to see. "Tor," the little fire chick chirped and fluffed his downy feathers. The Ralts seemed much more reserved, even shy. The two couldn't have been more opposite.
Ezra smiled widely at them, "It's great to meet you, I'm Ezra, and this is Sid," she set the sea lion down to properly greet the new team members. "Looks like we'll be traveling together!

Sid greeted his new teammates by blowing playful bubbles. Torchic pecked them to make them pop, which startled the little Ralts. She skittered on over to hide behind Ezra. "Aww!! It's alright, they're just playing," she comforted, picking up the Ralts and holding her. This seemed to be enough to calm the little thing down, thankfully. "Hey, how about we go to the beach?!" All three Pokemon seemed to like that idea - the other two jumped up and down while Ralts nodded and nuzzled into Ezra's arms. The trainer thanked the Nurse again, made sure she had all of her stuff gathered up, and they were off to the beach.

As they reached the beach, Ezra was all smiles and in awe. This place was absolutely gorgeous! Ralts was nestled comfortable in her arms while the other two raced through the sand, playing with each other.
Suddenly, Sid started barking in a more serious tone, bringing Ezra's attention to a Magnemite that was standing off against Torchic. Ralts shrunk back, trying to hide against Ezra as Magnemite tackled Torchic. He got back up, thankfully, but he didn't look like he could take another hit like that. "Torchic, use Ember," she ordered, and the chick obliged.
The wild Magnemite fell into the sand as it was peppered with flame, and Ezra took the chance to throw a Pokeball at it. One, two, three, and... click! She'd done it - she captured her first pokemon!! At twenty five but who was counting? She let out a cheer as she picked up the Pokeball and put it on her belt, then went to check on Torchic. He looked proud of himself, but was definitely not feeling his best. She used a couple Potions on him and scritched the feathers on his head. "You did great! What a knockout!" Torchic puffed out his downy chest and let out a proud chirp and a tiny stomp. Darn right!

It was hard to believe she'd literally just started her journey just this morning, and she'd already caught her first Pokemon! She was quite proud of herself, and of Torchic!
'C-can I try the next one,' a small female voice asked Ezra, but it was like it was in her mind. She blinked, looking around in confusion. Ralts patted her, getting her attention, and then pointed at herself. 'H-hi...' she almost whispered into her mind.
"Whoa," Ezra exclaimed, almost dropping the small Pokemon. Sid and Torchic looked alarmed, looking around at what could have spooked their Trainer. She didn't pay them any mind. "I didn't know you could do that!? That's so cool," she nearly cheered. This day was just getting better and better!
'Thank you,' the little Ralts blushed, putting her little hands on her cheeks to hide them. 'So... Can I?
Ezra nodded, setting her down with a grin, motioning to Sid and Torchic that everything was fine. "Sure thing!! Let's see if we can find another opponent!" The new Trainer was all fired up as she helped Ralts look around for another wild Pokemon.

It wasn't long before Ezra spotted another Magnemite and pointed it out to Ralts. "There - Confusion!" Ralts focused her psychic energy at the magnetic Pokemon, though it didn't seem too affected by the attack. It countered with a Thundershock, and Ezra noticed it was harder for Ralts to move now. Oh, no...
"You can do it, Ralts, try putting it to sleep with Hypnosis," she ordered, and the little critter did just that. Thankfully, it went right to sleep, but it took Ralts a bit to be able to move again. Graciously, the Magnemite kept snoozing.
Once she was able to move again, she fired another Confusion, and followed with a Disarming Voice. Ezra wasn't sure how to differentiate a sleeping Magnemite from a fainted one, but there was no way it was getting up after all that. "You did it, Ralts," she cheered, picking her up and hugging her. She definitely felt.... static-y. "Let's get back to the Pokemon Center to get you healed up. I'm sure our own Magnemite wouldn't mind the same treatment," she thought aloud, turning back the way they'd originally come. Torchic and Sid gladly bounced along behind her.

Erza grinned sheepishly at the nurse as she approached the counter. "Hello again! I'd like to check a couple of my Pokemon in for healing, please." She set Ralts up on the counter, as well as Magnemite's Pokeball. The nurse nodded and gently placed them both on a cart for her Chansey to roll into the back. Ezra went to sit on a bench with Sid and Torchic in the meantime.
Torchic grew bored quickly, and started skittering around to peck at random things, and even other trainers' shoelaces. Erza chased him around, apologized profusely, and eventually withdrew him into his Pokeball. She sighed, "We'll go get something to eat after Ralts and Magnemite are all better." She wasn't sure if Torchic could hear from inside the Pokeball, but it was also to Sid, who clapped and barked happily.
Soon after, the Nurse came back out with Ralts and Magnemite, "They're both feeling much better! Thank you for bringing them in - please be careful out there!"
Erza smiled, putting Magnemite's ball on her belt and picking up Ralts. "Thanks so much! I think we're gonna take a break from training and get something to eat!" She felt a feeling of gratitude wash over her that she could only assume came from the small Pokemon in her arms, and grinned. This was so cool!!

Ezra walked along the streets of the city with Sid and Ralts, oogling at all the different sorts of shops and restaurants. So many types of foods she'd never even heard of! She let all of her Pokemon pick something to eat, and they made a picnic spot right off the beach to enjoy their foods. Ezra had chosen a colorful fish-based dish that was absolutely delicious! Perfectly spiced and surprisingly refreshing!
After lunch, they headed out to the beach to do some more training. This time, it was Sid's turn! The blue sea lion playfully made bubbles to bounce on, rather than waddling, and ended up landing on an Alolan Grimer.
The Grimer let out an annoyed grunt and seemed to make itself more solid. "Sid, use Water Gun," Ezra ordered. The sea lion opened his mouth and sprayed water at the Grimer's face. Being more solid didn't seem to affect the attack, interestingly enough. But it tried making itself more solid again, just the same. Ezra ordered another Water Gun, which Sid repeated. That was enough, it seemed! The Grimer slumped into an amorphous puddle.
Ez pulled out a Pokeball and threw it at the Grimer puddle. She watched as all of it got sucked in and wiggled around once.... twice..... three times.... and stopped. She cheered and picked up Sid, dancing around with him in celebration. She'd just caught her second Pokemon!

After hitting the Pokemon Center - yet again - to get everyone checked out, Ezra figured it was about time to start looking at moving on down to the next route. With everyone tucked back into their Pokeballs, she started towards Route 2.
Before she could reach that far, she got stopped by a trio of youngsters, one of which looked rather mean. ”Hey, you! We saw you training down at the beach. Let’s have a battle,” he smirked, tossing a Pokeball back and forth between his hands.
”Er, no thanks…” but before she could continue, he threw out a Hatenna. Seeing no way around them, she called out Sid.
”Hatenna, use -” he was cut off by one of the other youngsters, he looked to be the youngest ”- Life Dew!” The first Youngster shot the other a dirty look as Hatenna obeyed, the tip of its hat glowing…. But nothing happened. ”Sid, use your new attack! Disarming Voice!” Sid opened his mouth and screeched an awful sound. The Hatenna winced and shook its… entire body. It was just feet and a head, after all.
”Life Dew,” the first Youngster shouted, and Ezra watched as the Pokemon healed itself a little. ”Try a Water Gun,” Ezra called, and watched as Sid spouted water out of his mouth and clapped his flippers. The Hatenna wasn’t looking too great now…
”Play nice,” the third Youngster shouted, presumably at the first one, but Hatenna used the attack. Sid bounced along, playing with it, until Ezra called for another Water Gun, knocking out the little Hatenna.
”Would you two stop it,” the first Youngster ordered, clearly infuriated. He called back his Hatenna and brought out a Wishiwashi. Ezra watched as the poor thing flopped around on the ground. The youngest of the Youngsters called out Helping Hand, though nothing happened. Ezra blinked. This wasn’t much of a fight… Maybe he’d stopped her just to try to prove something? … Regardless, she had Sid use Disarming voice, which absolutely made the poor fish uncomfortable. It flopped miserably around as the attack hit. Just as the first Youngster was about to call out an attack, the middle one called out Helping Hand yet again. The first rounded on the other two, absolutely furious. ”This is my battle - back off!” Ezra winced at the cringy trio and had Sid use another Disarming Voice. Thankfully, this ended the poor little fish’s struggle out of water.
The first Youngster ground his teeth as he recalled his Wishiwashi. ”Fine… You’re in for it now,” he threatened, sending out Jangmo-o. ”Protect,” he called out, and the little dragon surrounded itself with a barrier, preventing Sid’s Disarming Voice from reaching it. ”You can’t even touch it,” the boy laughed, newfound confidence in his chest. ”Protect, Jangmo-o!” The little dragon tried, but no barrier appeared. It had no chance when Sid’s Disarming Voice finally reached it.
”Wha-..... AUGH!! Panpour, finish this stupid clown,” he ordered, throwing a Pokeball for a blue monkey-like creature. ”Disarming Voice,” Ezra called, getting annoyed. Sid seemed to be having a good time, at least. He clapped his flippers as he opened his mouth for the attack. ”Scratch!!” The first Youngster got his order in before the other two could mess up this round. The attack hit, but Sid still had plenty of fight. With one more Disarming Voice, the Panpour fainted and the fight was done. The Youngster withdrew his Pokemon and looked like he was about to say something, but turned and ran towards the Pokemon Center with the other two right behind him. Ez pretended not to notice the tears in his eyes before he turned.
”Oh…kay…. Good job, Sid! Let’s head off, yeah?” That was the most confusing battle she’d ever witnessed. Watch out for little boys: noted. She used a potion on Sid to heal him back to full, and they were off to Route 2.

Upon entering the city, Ez paused to look at the view. It was so different than what she was used to back home, she just had to pause to take it in. Barry, being impatient as he was, darted ahead of them towards the beach. Ezra laughed as she ran after him; Mellan complained about the bumpy ride, but stopped as he saw the beach they were running towards. Brigid snorted, staying back to keep pace with Sid, who was barking excitedly and bouncing from bubble to bubble. Those flippers made it hard to navigate on land. "You're going to leave Sid behind," Brigid warned Ezra, who slowed down and smiled sheepishly back at them. "Oops... Sorry, Sid!!! Hey Barry, slow down!! We'll make it there, just wait a minute," she called. Barry skidded to a stop and nearly fell, turning back to pout at them. Ezra giggled and assured him they were headed straight for the beach, they just had to wait for Sid and Brigid.
Once they did reach the beach, Ezra let her Pokemon run off, though not too far. Sid barked excitedly, bouncing into the waves, where he was much faster. Ezra smiled and turned to Brigid, who came up next to her, looking at her with not a little impatience. "We're here to train, don't worry," Ezra assured her, petting her neck. Brigid nodded, then lifted her head and turned to look past Ezra disapprovingly.
"That's the lady that beat me," just as she was about to ask what the look was for, Ezra heard a familiar snot-nosed voice, and turned to see the three Youngsters, with a mean-looking teen. "No one messes with my brothers but me! Let's see if you can take me on," he challenged, throwing out a Dewgong. She sighed; he wasn't giving her much of a choice. Brigid stepped forward, and stomped her hoof as she stopped in front of the Dewgong.
"Dewgong, use Sheer Cold!" The Dewgong began to glow an icy blue and opened its mouth to blow a chilling blast. Brigid barely dodged out of the way before she heard Ezra call for a Tackle. She charged towards the Dewgong, throwing her body at the Sea Lion Pokemon
"Damnit.. use Sheer Cold again," the bully's brother ordered. Again, Brigid was just barely able to dodge out of the way before hitting it with another Tackle and knocking it out.
The bully's brother sent out a Skarmory next, this one looked more intimidating for sure. Brigid snorted, her hoof pawing at the sand. "Peck, and stay out of its reach," the bully ordered, smirking. Brigid cringed as she ran, trying to dodge the attack. The bully's smirk quickly disappeared when Ezra called her order, "Use Psychic!" Brigid looked unsure but followed the order. It didn't seem to do much, but at least she was able to hit it. Ezra frowned worriedly - Brigid was looking in pretty rough shape. "Don't you dare call me back, I can beat it." Ez sighed and nodded, getting ready to order another Psychic, but the Skarmory was faster - one last Peck attack and Brigid was down for the count.
Ezra froze as she saw Brigid faint. It felt like time stopped for hours. She never expected one of her Pokemon to faint, though logically that was silly. Guilt engulfed her, holding her still. While it felt like hours, it was only seconds. Mellan patted her face, breaking Ezra's shocked trance. She recalled Brigid into her Pokeball, apologizing to the ball as she put it back on her belt. She thought for a moment about her team, and sent out Eli, who was eager to fight.
The bully had Skarmory use Peck yet again and while it did hit Eli, it also brought the metal bird in close enough to use Ember. Eli peppered fire at the flying bird, and lept out of the way as it crashed into the sand, unable to battle.
"You were saying," Ezra questioned the bully, frowning. Eli chirped agreement, scratching his feet at the sand and lowering his body like he was going to charge at the group of brothers. "Wh-whatever! It's not like you'll ever be able to beat the Totem Pokemon - it's stronger than everyone on this island," he swore before turning towards the Pokemon Center with the Youngsters trailing behind him.
Ezra frowned, looking down at Brigid's pokeball. This was all challenging, true.... But this was only the first time one of her Pokemon had fainted. They'd be fine here.... right?

Ezra picked up Sid and rushed to the Pokemon Center, not really caring that the four brothers had just rushed there themselves. She was sure her other Pokemon could handle the boys if they decided to start something. Her main focus was getting Brigid healed up.
Thankfully, the boys didn't bother her, just glared at her from across the room as Ezra approached the counter and placed Eli and Brigid's Pokeball on the tray. She informed the Nurse that Brigid had fainted, who nodded and rushed back to get them all taken care of.
As she was waiting, she got a text from one of her old neighbors.

Mellan pawed at the screen, having heard the name of its evolution. He wanted to see the picture. Ezra smiled and patted him on the head, "There's no pictures of it, just the announcement. I wouldn't mind going to see it in person, though. What do you think?""Pi pichu," he cheered in agreement. "That settles it," she giggled, "Once we're done here, we'll go see when the next train is leaving!"

Ezra smiled widely as the Nurse brought out Eli and Brigid's Pokeball not too much later. "They're in perfect health. Be careful, now!" Ez nodded as she hugged Eli and let Brigid out of her Pokeball to pet her neck and double check she was alright.
"Okay, so I didn't have it. I'll get them next time," she snorted as Ezra chuckled and pet her muzzle. "You did amazing. Did you see the look on that guy's face when you used Psychic on his Skarmory," she whispered and giggled as Brigid lifted her head in pride. "Oh, I did! Skarmory was just as shocked."
Mellan jumped up onto Brigid's back and started talking to her as she turned her head to watch him. "We're leaving?" Ezra grinned and nodded, "One of my favorite designers has a new release exclusive to Kanto, and apparently she's been spotted in the area. I figured we could train on the way, and we might just be strong enough to beat that gym by the time we get there." Brigid considered for a moment, and nodded, "Fair enough. I call first fight."
Ezra picked up Sid as they left the Pokemon Center towards Route 1.
