All of this was complicated by his complete and utter lack of money, and pretty recognizable appearance. You just didn’t see one-eyed boys wearing his kind of clothes wandering around everywhere. But Takumi didn’t really know what he was doing, and had even less of a clue how to live without money. He wasn’t even sure yet if he should be worrying about using public places or not. One thing he did know was that he was going to need to train his pokemon so they could stand up to Andrei and anyone else with his family. If Tzut had been stronger, he wwould have survived that attack- Takumi wasn’t going to make that same mistake twice.
The captain’s voice came on again as the boat docked, apologizing for the delay and informing passengers of alternate forms of travel. Takumi listened with forced interest which became more genuine as he heard suggestions for things to do if he needed to wait for another ship. There was apparently some event going on in Iki Town. The reason Takumi was interested? And event could mean free food… Plus, he bet Andrei would assume Takumi had gotten back on another ship. Right bnow, his most valuable tool was unpredictability. So he left the boat, making sure to linger in full view on the docks. He walked as if he meant to get on a shi, crashed purposefully into a woman with a monumental pile of luggage, and made a huge stink with her. He acted every bit the brat he was sure Andrei assumed him to be, and then quietly slipped away from the ship.
Takumi padded quickly through the city, wanting to get as far as possible from the port. He felt more than ever the lack of Jun, and indeed had transferred much of the blame for Tzut’s death to the “bodyguard” who had abandoned him. He told himself that it wasn’t his falt that he hadn’t trained his pokemon when he’d been paying someone else to do that for him. But that didn’t change the reality of the moment, and despite everything Takumi was, actually, pragmatic. So, when the second egg he’d been carrying so long twitched at his side, Takumi nearly pelted into a streetlamp with fright.
Once he had recovered, Takumi searched fervently for somewhere to hide out of sight while this egg of his hatched. What bad timing. The only way it could’ve been worse was if…if it had happened when Andrei appeared! That actually made him smile, the thought of an egg hatching right in the middle of that tense situation. For now, hurried down the street, trying not to bounch the cracking egg too much. He was by the city’s edge, and happy to veer off into the grassbehind what looked like a local school. He remembered passing it back when he first arrived here, before Tzut had… Before. Behind the school he found a tangle of trees and bushes that provided some privacy. The egg shook and rolled after it was placed on the ground. Bits of shell popped off until, finally, the whole thing split and a golden form fell out.

It was unlike any pokemon Takumi had ever seen. It was canid in appearance, with short gold fur and a bright crimson mane that covered its eyes and dipped up its feet like boots. What set it apart was the golden wings that unfurled from its back, feathers sticking haphazardly from the newborn’s skin. He reached forward to brush the soft red fur from its eyes only to pause at what he saw. Sightless eyes, staring through him. A few months ago, the sight would have disgusted him. It would have been enough for him to send the winged-wolf away. But now, he felt a connection. He let the fur fall, watching as the wolf leaned forward to sniff and lick his hand. ”Hello.” The wolf’s ears swiveled at the sound, and if he hadn’t just looked he would’ve sworn she was looking right at him. Slowly, Takumi brought his hand forward and ran it through her mane, taking a temporary solace from the outside world. He was careful to avoid hitting either of her two black horns. ”What was a chansey doing with you and Hauhani?” He wondered what sort of pokemon hatched from Jun’s egg. Then that brought with it the pain of abandonment to he quickly went back to focusing on the pokemon in front of him. He hadn’t a clue what it was, but he thought her lovely. Where Nala’s fur was like velvet, this one’s was thick and satisfying in an entirely different way. He chuckled, thinking that she was even less conspicuous than Nala. They were a pair of sore thumbs, and he could only hope they wouldn’t stick out too badly at the Luau.

Takumi sat between the palm trees for a long time, watching his new pokemon as she tested her limbs, struggling to her feet and extending her wings over and over. At the base of one tree was a piel of berries, which Takumi gratefully ate along with his hungry pokemon, all of which hadn’t eaten nearly enough to make up for such a long day. Before he knew what had happened, Takumi was waking up from a long nap…or more like an entire night’s sleep. Nala had curled in the crook of his arm, with Hauhani by her side. At some point, his unnamed wolf had padded over and stretched out by his side, keeping him warm as he slept. Both Merlin and Micah seemed wary of joining the sleeping pile of girls to get to their trainer. They were perfectly happy sleeping a few yards off…though Micah did glance longingly throughout the night.

Takumi lay still, not really feeling the need to get up just yet. Though he didn’t move, his new pokemon stirred at his side. He wasn’t sure how, but he knew that her eyes had opened. He stared into the sky, trying to think of a name. He had thought of something before he drifted to sleep, but now he couldn’t remember. It felt on the tip of his mind… He felt a little nudge, and suddenly it came to him. ”Keahi.“. He looked to her, and once again he got the odd feeling that he knew what she was thinking- that she knew the name, and was amused for some reason. Confused, he ran his hand along her back, needing this time to rest even more than any of his pokemon knew. Keahi shifted, her mane pillowing Takumi’s head. Slowly, he drifted back to sleep.

When he woke again, Takumi well and good had no idea how much time had passed. He and his pokemon feasted again on berries. The small bag that he had with him, holding barely anything but a few items, could hardly hold more but he stuffed it with berries anyways. He felt a dread in the pit of his stomach, not knowing where Andrei was, how close he might be to discovery again. But there was no use in hiding forever, and he needed more than just berries to eat. He returned his pokemon, leaving Merlin and Keahi out. Merlin, who so reminded him of Tzut as his mind searched desperately for the familiar. And Keahi, who already felt comfortable to have at his side and made him feel better when he was wary of letting Nala out lest he be more recognizable.

Dallas let out a sigh of relief and leaned forward as he and Beltigre made it to Hau’oli City. He was feeling pretty tired, but he still had so much he wanted to do, now that he was in town. For starters, he’d find a place to stay for the night. He could slum it at the Poke’mon center, but that really wasn’t his style. Too many people, so many losers chatting away about this and that and sorts of other unimportant stuff. He took a left down a side street, strolling down the way.
The city was hardly a city compared to Goldenrod, but it had a pretty decent sized residential area. The thug knew what to do then. He waltzed up and down the avenues until he finally found what he was hoping to find. There was a nice little home, with no vehicle in the driveway. Up on the door was a colorful sign that read “ On Vacation! Be back on the 17th!” Dallas smirked. ”Bingo.” It seemed that Dallas had found a nice place to crash for awhile. ”Now, how are we gonna get on in there…”

Dallas checked to make sure nobody was around as he walked up to the house casually. Beltigre looked at him, curious to what the human was thinking. Dallas checked the door. Locked, naturally. And then he searched under the mat, the flowerpot, even the little porcelin Jigglypuff on the windowsill. No dice. ”Dammit...well, I guess I could bust the door open.” Beltigre caught his attention by mewing. Her trainer glanced over to see her pawing at a slightly cracked window. ”Oh. Yeah, I was gonna do that first.” He headed over and popped the window over for Beltigre, who hopped from the window to the sink to the kitchen.
She looked around for awhile, before finding a the front door. She furrowed her brow before leaping up onto the knob, and awkwardly grabbing the deadlock with her teeth and turning it. When Dallas heard the click, he opened up the door to find Beltigre sitting proudly in front of him. ”Great job, Beltigre!” Dallas said with praise. He scooped up Beltigre and nuzzled the little cat. ”Cute and smart! You’re the best!” Beltigre mewed happily, lightly pawing Dallas’ head in a failed attempt to get him to stop. ”Okay, okay, fine. Let’s check out the digs, girl.”
Dallas closed the door behind him, and locked the door again. Taking a look around the house, it was clear that it was an elderly couple’s place. It was painted a gaudy pink color, and every room had obnoxious wallpaper and tons of photos. It looked like the couple in question were Alolan natives, and they were both as short as they were fat. Just a couple of cute round old people, with an unknown stranger in their house. ”Well, thanks for the stay, gramps,” Dallas muttered. He took his pokeballs and let out all of his Poke’mon. ”Alright, you guys, go nuts!”

It had only been a half an hour or so, but Dallas and the gang had already made themselves at home. Queen Bee was buzzing around the house, eating flowers form the many potted plants around the house. She hit a few duds in the form of plastic and fabric fakes, spitting out the yucky faux leaves. After Dallas had finished taking a shower in the bathroom, Riptide had taken it over. He swam back and forth in the large walk-in pool, gnawing on pool toys that must’ve belonged to the grandkids.
Speaking of grandkids, Buns was having a great time trying on the grandaughter’s dresses in the guest room, and cuddling up with the many, many pokedolls in the room. She’d eventually fall asleep on the kid’s bed, surrounded by stuffed animals. Meanwhile, Dallas was chilling on the couch, watching television with Beltigre. Beltigre licked at a few butterscotch candies while Dallas smoked one of the old man’s cigars, and tightened the knot on the old man’s bathrobe. ”Gotta admit, Beltigre,” Dalas said with a yawn, ”This fam has got some nice crap! Seriously, feel this robe.” Beltigre did, and found it so soft that she decided to curl up in Dallas’ lap. ”Aw! So cuuuuuute!”

There was a good few hours of lounging around and napping before Dallas got back to business. He had to buy some things in town, but didn’t want to go in his usual clothes. He’d stick out like a sore thumb in the store he wanted to go to. ”Well, maybe this old coot’s got something I can wear,” he said optimistically. With a grunt and a stretch, Dallas stood up and started heading to the master bedroom. He passed by Queen Bee, who was buzzing low to the ground, looking bloated from all of the pollen and flowers she’d been eating. ”Lay down, Queenie,” Dallas told her. She garbled some nonsense before plopping into a pile of towels her trainer had left near the bathroom.
After some poking around, Dallas found a suitable outfit: A polo shirt in a pink pastel, some khaki shorts, and a pair of white sneakers. He even decided to sport a watch to take some attention off of his tattooed knuckles. And with a nice combing, Dallas Tucker looked like a halfway decent individual. ”There we go...not too shabby!” With that sort of getup, he could get around without any problems. Rather, he could do the kind of shopping he wanted to do without getting any looks.
So, now it was time to round up the team. Dallas went from room to room, gathering up his Poke’mon at play. Riptide had bit up quite a few bath toys by the time Dallas returned him. Queen Bee was still groaning from overeating in the towel pile as she was sent back to her ball. Buns looked embarrassed when Dallas spied her playing with dolls, and Beltigre was sleeping soundly as she was returned. Once they were all safe and sound, Dallas grabbed his wallet and headed back out for a little bit of shopping.

Hau’oli City had a fantastic mall by Dallas’ standard.
He had been able to do quite a bit of shopping, looking through clothing and Poke’mon toys and accessories all while under the guise of a nice young man. He had to admit, the Alolan fashion scene was pretty cool. It was almost a throwback compared to Johto, but it still held alot of charm. ”I’ll need to get some more shirts like this,” Dallas muttered to himself, looking through a rack of button-up shirts. He decided on a few before he went to pay.

Most of it is bootlegged stuff from shoddy Unova generic companies.” He crossed his arms, and gave the clerk a sassy grin. She was unamused, but still impressed.

”Yeah, there’s not really a presence here,” he replied. ”But, I’d wouldn’t be surprised to find out there’s an...underground contest somewhere in a city this size.” He gave the clerk a knowing look, and she seemed to pick up.
”Seriously? Honey, there’s definitely something like that in this town, but trust me, you’re not good enough to handle it.” She smiled, and adjusted her glasses. ”The coordinators on this island don’t have time for...enthusiasts.”
Dallas furrowed his brow, and readied a fist to start bashing up the place. ”Listen here, you googly-eyed-” he cut himself off, and shook his fist angrily. ”I’m the real deal, lady! I’m gonna make it straight to the top! And when I do, I’m gonna show up back here and rub it in your stupid, late-40’s-and-trying-to-hide-it-under-five-layers-of-foundation b***h!” Dallas glared at her, breathing heavily at his outburst. People started to stare, and a lone security guard started to wander up.
”Whoa, whoa, I’m good, I’m good. I just wanna buy some conditioner. I’m outta here!” Dallas quickly grabbed up a bottle of conditioner, and stormed off for the counter to pay. You better bring it, or hit the bricks!”
Dallas glared at her, and shouted across the room. ”Oh, I’ll be there, don’t you worry about that!” He turned to the cashier, who asked if he wanted to fill out a survey to get a free Rage Candybar. ”Rage Candybar huh? Well ain’t that just IRONIC!” He quickly jotted out the survey, paid for his goods, and stormed outta there, giving the snooty clerk devil eyes the entire way.

Dallas returned home (well, to someone’s home), still fuming mad and ready to fight anything and anybody. ”That stupid lady!” He stormed through the house, releasing his Poke’mon as he did. They all seemed to be concerned about their trainer’s condition, and they all did their best to follow him. ”You probably couldn’t handle it, she says! ‘You better bring it,’ she says! What an idiot! IDIOT!” As he ranted, he pulled off he borrowed polo and kicked off the shorts as well before he got to the kitchen.
”I mean, who does she think she is? She don’t know me! I’m a badass!” He started to pull out whatever was left in the old couple’s pantry, and started pulling out some of the berries he had gathered up on Route 1. He then through on the old woman’s “Greatest Grandma” Apron, and fired up the stove. ”I’m tired of people thinking they’re better than me! Just because I don’t have their fancy clothes or designer makeup...I don’t need any of that crap! I’ll show ‘em! Better yet, we’re gonna show them! Together!”
His team had gathered around, curious as to what their brutish trainer was doing. They watched him dice up some liechi berries with surprising accuracy, and then smashing some lum berries into a fine paste. ”Riptide, bring me my bag, please.” The little shark slipped the handles of the duffle into his dorsal fin, and shimmied its way over. ”Thanks, buddy.” Dallas patted Riptide before removing a magazine from inside: “Coordinator Monthly: Poke’blocks & Poffins Edition.” Dallas flipped through the pages before he found the recipe he needed. ”There it is: A poffin that can bring out the cuteness and coolness of any Poke’mon…”

He followed the recipe very carefully, showing discipline and skill that the thuggish young man didn’t often show. Dallas already had everything mixed up perfectly, and was now kneeding the dough into a traditional poffin shape. Then, it was time for the oven. ”Bam! Alright, everybody, line up!”
Dallas, still in nothing but boxers and an apron, had his current team lined up. ”Okay, you guys, I have to make a decision on which one of you I’ll be giving that poffin in the oven.” Naturally, the Poke’mon didn’t understand, but kept as still as possible for thier trainer. ”Now, if you don’t get it, it doesn’t mean I don’t love ya. Cuz I do. I love the heck out of you little guys!” He smiled, and even Riptide seemed to understand and react with a happy demeanor.
”That being said….Beltigre, I’m gonna have to go with you.” She perked up and took off running for Dallas before jumping at him, gripping her little claws into his robe. Dallas supported her so she wouldn’t fall, and gave her a hug. ”I figured you’d be excited, little gal,” Dallas said. ”Okay, you and the rest be good while I get cleaned up. Beltigre, you’re coming with me.”

Flying into the city, the sunset below the horizon, telling them it was time for bed. It wasn't long before they located the familiar red roof of the Pokemon Center and took their landing. After a quick exchange with Nurse Joy, the two ventured to their room, releasing the bulk of their Pokemon to enjoy some free time outside their Pokeballs. Tay of course gathered her companions together and told them about the Malasada's, even sharing a bit of the one she'd never got the chance to finish eating. She had just enough to give to everyone, which was a nice treat for them. Soon enough though, a large yawn broke it's way out of Tay, who then quickly settled down and fell asleep. Avikna stayed up for only a few more minutes, before she finally settled in herself.
It was several hours later, about an hour before sunrise when Tay was woken from her sleep. She laid their for a moment listening. When she heard the noise again she turned over to see it perhaps it was just Avikna moving around.... but no, she could just barely make out the lump of a woman sleeping in the bed adjacent to hers, Dovakin curled up in a ball by her side. '--eep moving!' This time she made out words. It sounded like... a man? Angry at that. Slipping from bed, the teen tip-toed her way to the Pokemon center's window, picking up a small group of people walking under a street light, following them were several Pokemon.. "Yo, Explain to me one more time why we're parading around these 'mons again?" Another male spoke. "Dude, shut up. It's the only way through the city. If you just keep your yapper shut and do as your told we won't have the fuzz on us." Replied the other up front. Tay ducked below the window, finding Cotee and Freya at her feet. "Shh.... Come on, we've got to go help them." Tay whispered.
Heading out into the city, Tay made her way in the direction those people had been going. She got a sick feeling in her stomach as she walked down the dark-side of the street, avoiding the street lamps as best she could. It wasn't long before she found herself at the marina, stalking what looked to be two humans trying to shove a Pokemon into a container that was just slightly to small for it. Looking down at Cotee and Freya the Teen nodded her head. "Let's stop'em." Cotee didn't feel to right about this idea, suggesting they go back and get Avikna instead. "But it'll be to late by then.... They need our help now." Tay retorted. Cotee still wasn't sure, but Freya understood, giving persistence to Tay's view. Eventually the Dedenee gave in.... She wasn't going to win this one anyway.
