[META] Meta Power Roll List

[Ashdown Crier]

The meta power roll list is a list of special powers or advantages a character can get for taking advantage of a meta role or performing above and beyond the call of duty. Because these characters often are at severe risk of becoming harmed due to player choices, we felt it was necessary to balance that out with something a little more advantageous! You'll be informed if your character merits a roll, and have two days to redeem it--you can't sit on these powers until you see one you like--before the potential for power disappears... forever. Powers must be given to the character indicated, they cannot be traded to another character or given to a civilian unless a civilian is explicitly nominated.

This list of twenty powers will get switched up between metas. Some powers will be staples on the list, some will appear once and then vanish forever. Who knows?

Roll a 20-sided die and take the power that matches your character's number. Add it to their profile underneath any other powers they may have, and you're good to go!

current available powers

1. darkvision
You can now see through walls, floors, and ceilings. You can only see living creatures: humans, animals, bugs, etc. You must consciously activate this power. Using it for a long time will give you a killer migraine.
2. claws
You have claws now. All of your nails are tough enough to tear fabric and leave pretty decent scratches on flesh. This includes your toenails.
3. death oracle
Once per day, you can peer into a possible future and get a glimpse of one person's possible death. Please quote shibrogane when you use this power.
4. haptic interface
You can now write in the air with a fingertip. With intention, you can cause streaks of light to follow your fingertips through the air in one single and unchanging color. These lights will only disappear once you want them to.
5. fadestepper
You may now step into other ashdown in your dreams at will. While dreaming of other ashdown, you may interact with physically-present dreamers, but you may not touch them. You are like a ghost.
6. HELLFIRE
Once per day for five minutes per day, you may cause another character to feel an intense burning sensation that starts from their feet and spreads upwards. You can end this at any time, but it can only be cast once per day no matter how long the cast lasts.
7. finger guns pew pew
Be careful making the thumb-and-forefinger gun with your hands. You now shoot small pellets of magical power whenever you do that and say 'pew pew'. They are about as harmful as a Nerf pellet, but hey, you can still put out someone's eye.
8. feedback
Anyone attempting to psychically contact you has a 50/50 chance of getting a headful of incredibly painful static. When another character attempts to contact yours psychically, they must roll a d4. Odds triggers the static shock, evens does not.
9. windblast
You can now enforce your personal bubble with a sharp blast of wind. Twice per day, you can knock people within a five foot radius of yourself back and off their feet.
10. instant-instant message
Adfero! ... You can now send brief thoughts or sentiments to other people within your line of sight. They can't message you back, but this would be killer in a game of Bullshit.
11. sunlight
An upgrade to the 'light' meta power. You can now create a blindingly bright light once per day for up to five minutes.
12. eyes on your six
You are now capable of seeing everything around you without turning your head. Complete 360 vision. You can't turn this off, deactivate it, or pass it to a civilian using astral force.
13. entangle
Small vines now obey your commands. You can force them to sprout even through reinforced concrete. They will last up to ten minutes, and then die.
14. structura
Your bones are incredibly tough. Only a massive force can break them. However, this does not extend to your muscles or skin, and in fact slows the healing of any soft-tissue injuries you have.
15. watchman
You are now capable of staying up for 24 hours straight without any appreciable loss of quickness, skill, or... anything. You're just up.
16. color magic
You are now capable of turning one item smaller than yourself per day a weird color, perhaps aubergine or chartreuse.
17. gandalf
When you shut a door, it really stays shut. No one can open it but you.
18. song of the lion
Through the power of song, you can grant anyone within hearing a magical boost, permitting them to use exhausted powers. (So if someone has already used their once-daily sunlight cast, your song enables them to cast again.) The second cast must be done while you're singing; this doesn't reset their counter.
19. powerline tango
You can now travel at the speed of electricity through above-ground wiring. If it's in a wall or underground or otherwise inaccessible, you can't use it, but if you want to go zipping along utility lines you can.
20. peacebound
Once per day, you can interrupt someone drawing a weapon or giving you paperwork. They will turn around and leave.

For accepting a meta role when offered, and for spending five days in the otherworld, and for getting set on fire by a slenderdeer, Jeremiah now has a meta roll!

When your clothes tear, you can fix them. Just pinch the edges together--tadaa!! Like new!!

Moonstone Dazzle -- Autumn Smith -- Detect Creature
For bravery in the line of duty, for passing through a slenderdeer, and being the best damn Disney Princess, Autumn Smith now has a meta roll!

Once per day, you can cast a spell that will detect other things in real ashdown. It's like a spidey-sense that only activates sometimes!

elkbones -- Alexander Thorne -- Light
For bravery in the line of duty, for ******** up a goddamn demon spider, Thorne now has a meta roll!

You can summon a tiny floating ball of light. This light lasts for however long you need it.

PeanutButterpies -- Christopher Watts -- Breeze
For kicking a lot of a** and doing some weird s**t with mushrooms, Chris now has a meta roll!

You can cause a light breeze to ruffle someone's hair or underthings, or really anything else you want to be breezed at.

Blade Kuroda -- Shun Kuroda -- Lift
For doing his best and surviving an attack by three ******** weres at once, Shun Kuroda has received a meta roll!

Wingardium Leviosa, except you can only lift things with your brain that you could physically lift with your arms. I mean, you should still lift mostly with your knees, though.

Melancholies -- Shiloh Beaumont -- Light
For stone cold ballsiness, lending a hat to a buddy, and lack of reasonable human fear, Shiloh now has a meta roll!

You can summon a tiny floating ball of light. This light lasts for however long you need it.

lizbot -- America Jones -- Lift
For good cheer, pep, determination, and spunk, as well as good manners, America has received a meta roll!

Wingardium Leviosa, except you can only lift things with your brain that you could physically lift with your arms. I mean, you should still lift mostly with your knees, though.

The Semblance of Unity -- Temperance Clark -- Glue
For doing what she had to do and giving a very comprehensive lecture on not sewing up random people in random places, Temperance has received a meta roll!

You now have the power to make one 5-foot square of flat surface sticky per day. You can use this a little at a time or all at once. Just don't do it in the kitchen or the bathroom... people will think things.

chiickadee -- Chelsea Craft -- Finger Guns Pew Pew
For doing her best and reacting to things as best she knew how, Chelsea Craft has received a meta roll!

Once per day, you can will your hands to grow to gargantuan sizes and then will them to shrink again.

Seussi -- Connor Hill
For being the best student EMT he knew how to be and trading cusses with the best of them, Connor now has a meta roll!

Things move weirdly around you, often and for no reason. You also are randomly cold, and wary of walking into dark hallways by yourself.

iloveyouDIE -- Wendy Drummond
For surviving another year! This is a birthday meta roll applicable to any of Halo's pre-existing characters.

You are now capable of staying up for 24 hours straight without any appreciable loss of quickness, skill, or... anything. You're just up.
