Here they were. A region and a half away from where he’d originally started and Noel now found himself standing outside the Solaceon Ruins. It was dark looking inside and he mulled over exactly what he’d use for a light source. He didn’t have a torch… maybe his communicator had a flashlight he could use? He certainly didn’t want to be wandering in the dark; that was kind of dangerous.
"Hm…," Noel frowned, setting Algernon down on the ground while he weighed his options. Honestly, once he had the light thing figured out he’d be good to go. He had enough supplies for everything else, having restocked before hopping the train here so it was just a matter of being prepared.

Circling the air Aja leaned over Tropius' side to squint down, a gentle frown on her face as she surveyed the ground. They were clear to land, but the closer they flew she realized that they weren't the only ones there. That was.. unexpected, and here she had promised Alexandra that she'd be alone to train. Ah well, if they were just dealing with one person wouldn't pose too much of a problem.
"Hyup!" Aja jumped down after Tropius landed, dusting herself off before she held a hand back out to Alexandra. "C'mon, let's go!" she encouraged and then smiled once she'd been given it. Helping her to her feet Aja waited until the brunette was settled before she placed a hand on her hip and looked around her, briefly ignoring the other person already there-- which was a feat in itself, considering that bright white hair of his; yowch, was that blinding. "This is definitely the place," she mused to herself and then flashed Alexandra thumbs up before she sauntered over to the young boy. Best to take care of this now.
"Hey kid," she addressed him with a curious expression. "What are you doing all the way out here? Don't you know these ruins are dangerous." She jabbed her thumb in the direction of the ruins, smirk now playing on her lips. "Certainly not a place for a squirt like you."

Noel perked up from searching through his bag as someone addressed him, glancing over his shoulder, and staring in surprise at the young woman addressing him. It took him a moment to process that she was indeed talking to him, staring blankly a moment before adjusting his headset and frowning.
"Ah excuse me?" He remarked, standing up to his proper height, which wasn’t very tall given his age. Noel frowned, eyeing the woman a moment before glancing from the ruins then back to her. "Well I came to explore them … like you have I imagine." He didn’t seem to phased by the squirt comment, instead folding his arms over his chest as Algernon clung close to his leg. "I think I’ll be fine. My pokemon are pretty strong and there’s only Unown in the ruins." He gave her a soft smile though. "I appreciate the concern though."

Aja raised an eyebrow at the response she was given, not exactly upset but rather... surprised. "They let kids your age become trainers?" she questioned, incredulous. Before she could start hounding him with questions, however, Alexandra approached the two and cleared her throat, announcing her presence. "Aja, there's no need to be rude to this young man," she reprimanded, the disapproval in her tone obvious. Turning her gaze from the other woman Alexandra offered a smile in the young boy's direction, "I apologize for her brusque behavior. My name is Alexandra and this is my companion, Aja. We're here to train and explore the ruins," she introduced and explained, bowing in the process. "What might your name be?"
With the two women preoccupied Tropius did his best to become sparse, taking a few steps back in the direction of Solaceon Town before he actually took off. Though he didn't actually make it all the way there, he landed closer to the town than the ruins and, with a few trees to serve as cover his form began to shift, his long head shrinking back in while his form became smaller. Eventually a human male stood where the pokemon had once been, a frown on his face and a hand immediately moving back to clasp his back. Arceus-damnit, he was tired of playing his sister's 'cabbie'....

Noel blinked, confusion clearly written across his face at Aja’s comment. "Well…of course I mean… you can start as early as ten." At least that’s what he’d been told by other trainers. Did she not know or something? Before the conversation could get much farther another young woman intervened, advising ‘Aja’ to stop being rude. He was a little startled by that, directing his gaze to her as she introduced them. "Oh uhm, it’s alright!" He smiled back at her, uncertain a moment as she bowed before semi-returning the gesture. That was like the right thing to do right?
"Nice to meet you Alexandra and Aja! My name is Noel." He grinned and gestured down to the Espurr still clinging to his leg, watching the pair of women closely. "And this Algernon. We’re going to explore the ruins as well. And I guess maybe train. Have you been in them before?"

As early as ten? Man, parents really didn't care about their kids, did they? Aja shook her head, but wasn't given the chance to respond as Alexandra intruded. The dark-skinned woman huffed and folded her arms lightly over her chest as she was, ultimately, dismissed. She wasn't being 'brusque', she was just being concerned! Kids and ruins just didn't go together.
"A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Noel," Alexandra smiled gently, her eyes widening slightly when her attention was drawn to Algernon. Oh goodness, that was an... exceptionally adorable pokemon; the little headphone accessories he wore only amplified that. Before she could start squealing and cooing Alexandra looked back up sharply and cleared her throat, exhaling gently to try and get that response out of her system. "Are you now? Well, I wish you the best of luck in your endeavor, and hope that you remain safe in doing so. I'm aware that you mentioned having strong pokemon, but ruins can be dangerous for anyone, no matter the age." Alexandra shot a glance back at Aja as she spoke, the other woman catching her look and simply pulling a face.
"I've visited Solaceon Town when I was younger, with my parents, but I was never allowed to venture inside the ruins," Alexandra continued, fixing her glasses gently across the bridge of her nose before she looked at the entrance to the ruins, brown orbs sweeping the area before falling on a single object on the ground. "Excuse me, Noel. But is this yours?" she inquired and then stepped around the young boy to pick up the item, noting it to be an incense of some sort upon closer inspection, a sweet scent wafted from it. It was clearly a manmade object, and had no business being in a place like this. So she could only assume that someone had accidentally dropped it.

Noel smiled and nodded in agreement. "Same to you!" Alexandra was a lot nicer to speak with than Aja, though he did find her mannerisms curious. She seemed kind of the bookish to be honest; it made him think of his parents a bit especially as she explained that he still ought to be careful. He frowned a little at that but gave a solid nod nonetheless.
"Oh really? The town seems really nice, I'll have to take a look at it after I come back." It was probably worth it to explore the calm looking place after his venture. He listened thoughtfully a moment as she explained that he still needed to be careful, smiling and nodding along, grateful for the more less than harsh concern. "Okay, I will! I promise. And you'll be safe too right?" If anything could happen then he had to certainly hope that they’d be safe as well. He thought a moment if there was anything else to say -he still needed to figure out what he was going to do for light- when Alex spoke up again to inquire if something was his. Glancing over curiously, he eyed the strange little incense container, head tilting to the side. "Ah… no it’s not. I’ve never seen it before." he stared a moment or two longer, catching the scent from the little thing. It looked kind of like it had a candle in it? Maybe he could use that. "If you… don’t have a use for it, I’ll take it though."

"It is," Alexandra agreed with a soft nod of the head. "A rather rural town, but it's quite peaceful. Especially compared to the larger cities of this region." It was a shame she'd only visited a handful of times, the quiet area of the rancher town would do wonders for a wandering mind. "Besides these ruins, the Lost Tower and Hallowed Tower are two other structures nearby the town," she informed Noel. Before she could get too into tour guide mode Alexandra offered another smile and nodded when told that she be safe too; Noel was such a polite young man. "I will, thank you."
Though she didn't want to keep Noel from his explorations Alexandra couldn't help but to hold the white-haired boy up just a bit longer, a curious item catching her attention. "Mm, I don't believe I would," she remarked, turning the incense over carefully in her hands as she appraised it. "Here you are. I hope you're able to find some use of it." Looking up from the item Alexandra handed it over to Noel, and afterwards she nodded gently. "I wouldn't want to hold you up any longer, so I'll say farewell for now. Best of luck to you."

Noel smiled and nodded as Alex explained some more in regards to the local town. It really did sound like a nice place to settle down to relax. He did perk up curiously as she mentioned there being towers nearby as well. Maybe he’d check them out once he was done with the ruins? He simply grinned though, containing his questions for now on what Alex knew about the ruins. He certainly didn’t want to delay her or her travelling companion from their own adventures.
Noel eyed the incense curiously as Alex looked it over before offering it to him. He smiled and held a hand out to take the incense from her. "Ah, thank you Alex! I appreciate it!" He’d definitely find a use for it; if anything it’d be a semi-light source for him in the ruins. Tucking it away into his hoodie pocket for now, he gave a little bow to Alex and Aja once more still smiling as he adjusted his backpack. "Thanks Alexandra and same to you! I hope we run into each other again!" He gave a wave as he took a step back, also waving off in Aja’s direction as well before turning and heading off in the direction of the ruins entrance. He still needed to sort out his lighting needs but would figure that out once he was inside.

Once inside the ruins, Noel paused to once more dig around his things for an extra source of light. He intended to light the incense, but had a feeling it wasn’t going to be quite enough on its own. A little tinkering and searching and Noel found what he was looking for; his communicator had a flashlight on it and it was going to work well enough in illuminating his way down into the ruins. With that set he took a breath and slung his backpack back over his shoulder before glancing down at Algernon.
"You ready to go in, Algernon?" He inquired, trying hard to keep a brave tone though it was evident he was nervous. The Espurr looked up at his trainer, staring a moment before giving a complacent nod, paws reaching up to adjust his own headset. Noel followed suit with his own, just out of habit, adjusting the headset some before beginning to head into the ruins.

Lighting the incense as well and handing it off to Algernon to hold, the young man proceeded his way into the ruins. Noel had never been in any kind of ruins before; not even like building ruins. So, this was a new and exciting experience. He walked carefully through the front portion, eyes wide as he stared over the carvings etched into the walls. They looked like the Unown in the magazines he’d seen and apparently, they spelt out something. What though? He wasn’t… sure. He sort of wished he still had that magazine to look at; maybe it’d offer him a translation. He imagined some architect or archeologist -whatever their names were- had come along and done a translation.
"What do you think it says Algy…," Noel inquired, head tilting some as he came to a pause. Algernon hung close to his leg, looking as though he was concentrated on a different issue. The white-haired lad glanced down at his pokemon with a frown, not appreciating the bit of silence. Was something wrong? Noel heard a shuffle and looked up, blinking as one of the carvings on the wall shifted and seemed to fade. What…
”Well hello there. Aren’t you a special child?” A voice chimed and Noel whipped around to see a little old man huddling close behind. "Oh! Uhm… hello there," Noel remarked. Algernon tensed, grip tightening on his trainer’s pant leg, something that he noticed. The elderly gentleman just kept up his smile though, twiddling his thick mustache. ”You look like a capable young trainer. Care to help an old man out?” Noel blinked. "Oh uhm… sure?" Was this fellow a ruins explorer? He kind of looked the part in that stereotypical old guy kind of way…

The elderly man chuckled and turned around, and beginning to walk towards one of the tunnels within the ruins. ”Excellent. Then you’ll be willing to help me recover some of my friends.” Noel frowned and looked a bit confused. "Friends?" He instantly assumed the man meant pokemon; you normally didn’t go catching people.
Hopefully. Noel absently started to follow the man, waiting on the clarification. The gentle chuckled, gaze seeming to shimmer as he gave Noel a glance back. ”Of course! Here’s one now.” He pointed to the wall carvings, Noel’s gaze shifting to look. All he saw were Unown etchings, though once more they seemed… off. He had to blink a couple of times to make sure that his eyes were playing tricks on him as it changed and distorted more and suddenly… one of the Unown letters lifted away from the wall. Noel stared a moment, coming to terms that this was an actual pokemon and not a n illusion, hearing the elderly fellow grunt.
”Well boy, don’t just stand there gawking. You’re a trainer aren’t you?” Noel looked conflicted a moment before nodding. Right… right… battling.

Noel watched as the ball shook and beeped confirming the catch had completed. The man chuckled and scooped up the ball before he could retrieve it eyeing it a moment. ”Very good! You’ve a tough little rat there.” He remarked, eyeing the ball a moment as Noel frowned.
"Uhm… thank… you?" That wasn’t really a like… compliment or anything. Or rather it was hard to take as a compliment; Mattimeo was certainly no rat. Before he had enough courage to remark on that though the man whistled and gestured. ”Pay attention boy, there’s another.” Noel snapped to attention, looking over as yet another UNown appeared, this one a different shape then the last. Well, all right then.
