Coming to another fork in the road -the road being a set of musty old ruins- Arezu, Hikaru and Ai started down the steps only to be met with a small room and a dead end at the bottom. There was an unknown, which Arezu caught before investigating the room. "Hey, there's something here," Arezu said, walking up to a small alcove. She pulled out the dusty gold pokeball that had been resting in a small three-pronged stand. "Huh. What's something actually useful doing down here?" She smirked, imagining the look on Red's face if she found out. Then she did a quick switch for Ai. "Here, this is a pretty nice one, huh?" If she had to put her pokemon in pokeballs, she'd at least make them nice ones. Ai curled around Arezu's legs. "She has not said anything, but I am interpreting that Ai is quite pleased."

"I do not know how to read.""Um. Right." Hikaru patted Arezu on the back. "But I do recognize the symbols. They do look similar." Arezu snorted. "You jerk. Say that in the first place then."

Arezu stuffed her flashlight under her arm and pulled out her pokedex to check which unown she had so far. "Yeah, okay, so this one was definitely an M...and an S...but this one..." This would be a lot easier if she had a friend that could read. Maybe Hikaru would be open to it... "So, I've got eight different ones so far. There should be twenty six if I'm right. If we get them all, something's bound to happen." She scowled at Hikaru's concerned look. "If anything's gonna happen here, I think this is it. We can keep exploring while we catch, worrywart."

The next unown, however, was definitely mocking Arezu, because she was positive it was the same as one she had just caught. But she still had to fight it, even if it wasn't very strong. "Leaving one of them behind makes me uncomfortable...""You are worried about what the pokedex says of them?" Arezu nodded. "We should keep moving so they don't group up." They started back up the steps to the main hall.

Arezu stepped back into the hall in time to hear the hurried patter of footsteps. "Zuzu!" Hakuren the furball hurled himself and her. Arezu dropped her flashlight in surprise to catch him. "They're following me!""Who's following-" The words died in her throat. She'd picked up her flashlight and shone it over the passageway to see a mass of unown swirling towards them. "Holy- Ai!" Ai shot down one, but there were much too many. Every shadow ball after the first disappeared into the mass. "Arezu-" Hikaru began. "Run!" Arezu finished.

Arezu nearly ran into a swarm of Unown coming from the exit. She pelted down the stairs across the hall, holding Hakuren tight. He was shaking with- Hey wait a second. Arezu screeched to a halt and Hakuren's laughter finally bubbled over. "Pfft, ha! You shoulda seen your face! 'Oh noo, ruhhhnn!'" he mimicked in a dumb voice. Arezu dropped Hakuren and the Unown behind them vanished like the illusion they were. "Ha ha, very funny." Actually, that was a pretty good one. She'd have to think of a way to get him back later.

Hikaru poked her head out over the stair's edge. "Arezu, that was-""Yeah, yeah, I know. Hakuren did it." And he just happened to catch one real Unown in the illusion, or maybe it had given him the idea for it. Hikaru and Ai descended after them, since they hadn't gone this way yet. "So Hakuren, I guess there's no good news about a prank on our dear friend," Arezu teased, having figured out Hakuren had run off to try and give Scarlett a scare. Hakuren huffed. "No! I was tailing them just fine when they vanished! Her and Shiisa and the others too!" Huh. That was weird.

Hakuren looked back and forth between Arezu and Hikaru, annoyed by this half conversation they were having. If anyone was gonna have a half-conversation with Zuzu, it was him! "Ahg, they're acting all weird again," he grumbled. "What do you mean?" Ai spoke out of nowhere it seemed, because Hakuren hadn't realized she'd walked up at all. "Well- just- earlier they were all, like, talking the same, too. Arezu even sounded like Hikaru, sort of. Stupid jerks," he muttered, kicking a rock. Ai cast a troubled look at Arezu and Hikaru, who were already walking down the hallway. "Well, we all bond differently," she mused slowly. "Just remember to stay close." Hakuren rolled his eyes and followed her. "Weirdo." This was why he'd always been closer to Shion.

He sounded as unsure as Arezu felt. "I know it's not the kind of place she'd be, but...I dunno, I feel like there's a clue here. I wish Suicune would come back." Hakuren snorted. "Stupid dog was all over that red lady. He's probably off smelling her socks or something.""Socks?" Arezu laughed and leaned down to ruffle Hakuren's hair. "What? I bet it's true!"

This time Arezu paused to try and read it, but it didn't seem too helpful. "Weird that they look like letters. I wonder how old these Unown are, anyways?" Had they gotten their shape from humans? Or had it been the other way around?

Before they could leave the room, bulge formed in the wall near where Arezu's hand had just been. Blue energy seeped out until another Unown burst out, its body clearly forming the shape of an R. "Ai." Arezu barely had to say it, because Ai knew the drill now. It only took one shadow ball from her to KO these single Unown, so battles were fast and painless. As long as they kept moving so the Unown didn't group up they should be fine.
