Sandgem Town is located in southern Sinnoh, and is the starting place of new trainers in the region. The town notably has sandy terrain to the south, the beginnings of Sandgem Beach. The beach is in close proximity to the town itself.
-3 rp posts are required, then roll a 10-sided dice. This will determine the Pokemon that appears. In the next post, roll a 4-sided dice to determine level of the wild Pokemon.
A disappointing trek from Twinleaf led to another seemingly empty town, although more densely populated than Twinleaf it was still nothing to brag about. Sighing to himself as he walked into the town from the west he realized that this town more than likely held nothing for him either. The trials of beginning as a new trainer would certainly under the skill level of an already seasoned trainer. Although his Pokemon seemed weak they held great potential inside of them, they wouldn’t be travelling with him if that were the case.
‘Yet another town filled with little promise.’ He thought to himself as he entered the gates of the town. Again performing an initial search of the town as well as asking the townsfolk what he would find in the surrounding area would commence. A staple for any worthwhile traveller to get their bearings, nobody knew the town better than locals, if there was anything of note in the area they would certainly let him know.

The search turned up little information, other than there was a beach to the south. It was hard to tell for King, as the smell of sea was lost between his nose and the mask, without a Pokemon capable of surfing there was no reason for him to be interested in the sea. The city to the north however, Jubilife, was the direction of Oreburgh, making it an obvious choice for him to travel in. As long as he didn’t dawdle too long in these small towns he would be able to make decent progress. Turning up no information on Legendary Pokemon or on where he could find assistance he had no interest in staying in this town much longer than he had to.
Making his way to the North gate of the town he found the path blocked off, a feisty Shinx blocked his path. Nothing he couldn’t handle, as he reached behind his back he prepared to battle his first Pokemon on this journey. A measly Shinx. "Come Piplup, crush this pup," he stayed collected in the face of battle, something that was a must in his book. Becoming overexcited caused you to make bad decisions, and he wasn't about to do that. With that the battle began.

The ability that Piplup possessed was incredible, a violet sphere, charged with blue electric like energy inside of it complete with a beam of energy shooting from it. It seemed to be a move that no ordinary Piplup would possess, on top of that it appeared that the move was draining the very life from Shinx. As the battle finished King knelt down and patted his Pokemon on the head, a congratulations on its tremendous power. “You possess great power my friend, I shall not let that go to waste. Return.” Returning the small penguin to its ball he felt pride in the partners he was given.
Making a quick stop at the Pokemon centre before heading out back north he would want to make sure that his Piplup was healed up before he was able to move on. The raw power that Pokemon possessed gave him great hope for the future, it was that type of power he would need in order to move forward with his plan. Once he left the Pokemon Centre he would make his way north along Route 202 towards Jubilife City.

Sarah walked into Sandgem, Muzét resting contently in her arms and Stevie standing in alert on her head. They were both so adorable~! She visited the Pokémon Center to rest her legs for a bit. She was happy the center sofas were so comfortable. Stevie jumped off her head to run around. As she leaned back and relaxed, Sarah was suddenly distracted by a a sound and looked over to see an Audino sitting next to her. Sarah looked around to find it's trainer, but she didn't see anyone who fit that bill. "H-Hello. Can I...help you?""Audino~!" It looked like the Audino was just trying to enjoy her company, which was fine with her. At least it didn't seem feral.

Yuki continued south until grass turned into sand as he had made it to the beach. The feel of actual sand under his feet was very interesting to him as he looked down toward it. He crouched down and picked up some sand, letting it fall through his fingers. It was warm and felt as though he was running his fingers through salt. Not that he'd done that very often. Either way, he was happy to be in a warm place like this, it'd be the perfect spot to meet his pokemon. Yuki was excited to get to know his pokemon and hoped that they'd help and accept him as their trainer. Now that he had felt what sand was like, he moved further south and came to a stop close to the edge of the water, looking out and realizing just how big the world was. His adventure was just starting, he'd need to help of his pokemon for sure. With that thought, he reached for his belt and removed all three pokeballs. Yuki wanted to meet all three of them at once and let all three out at once. His eyes looked down toward them and he couldn't help, but smile a bit, which he usually saved for when he got to know others. For some reason, it felt easier to get along with pokemon, probably since he had been since he was young. "H-Hey, Piplup, Sneasel, Houndour... it's nice to finally meet you. I'm Yuki, I'm new to this trainer stuff, but I really hope we can get along." He was excited to see how the three would react and really did hope they got along.
Piplup looked around calmly and looked up toward the other two pokemon and then to Yuki. He listened to what his trainer had to say and was glad to see that it would probably be easy to get along with him. The water pokemon nodded slightly to what Yuki said before speaking. ["It's nice to meet you, lets get along and help each other."] With that introduction out of the way, his attention turned toward the other two.
Sneasel looked around the area she had been let out and was quite intrigued by how it was so different than what she had seen before. ["A beach? Guess it's better than freezing."] Despite being half Ice type, it appeared that Sneasel was somewhat similar to Yuki. She didn't like it being too cold, but didn't mind if it was cold either. Her attention finally turned toward Yuki as she looked up toward him. ["You're my trainer? Kind of short, but I guess we can work together."]
Houndour was glad to be in a warm place as being half fire type, he enjoyed those types of places. His attention looked toward Yuki as he was glad to finally meet his trainer. Houndour was a brave pokemon and was looking forward to helping his trainer whenever he needed it. ["You can count on me. I'll be sure to keep everyone safe."] He was clearly happy to be able to help out his trainer and even step up to make sure none in their group would have to be worried.
Yuki was very happy to see that his pokemon were willing to work with him. Though it felt as though Sneasel might be a bit of trouble. To him though, that wasn't an issue since he wouldn't stop her from being herself. Plus she was part Ice type which made him feel right at home, he'd stick together with any Ice type pokemon. He did know some very strong ones after all, and they were more like family than any other type. "I'm not sure what you three said, but it seemed like you're all willing to help me out. Thank you for that, it means a lot."

After some time of resting and keeping the Audino company, Sarah picked Stevie up and held both him and Muzét as she left the building and headed for the beach that lined Sandgem. She hadn't actually been there. When she first came through Sandgem, her uncle was too intent on getting her home and the second time she was too intent to get to Rowan's lab. Now, though, there was nothing to distract her. Except for the Audino, which actually followed her. Closely. Like, one foot behind her. Sarah stopped when she got to the sand and let her two small reammates run off to play before she turned to the Audino and knelt. "Okay....Are you okay? Is something wrong?""Dino?" Audino seemed genuinely confused, like she didn't know what Sarah meant. It was then she remembered the Audinite in her bag. Was that why Audino was following her? "I can't give you the mega stone in my bag if that's what you want." Audino stared at her with her head tilted and then Sarah got the idea to catch this one. She smiled at the idea. "Hey. Do you want to join my team?""Aud...!" Audino suddenly ran off, leaving Sarah confused. What was that about? The thing was so friendly and social before.

Yuki was glad that he was able to meet all three of his pokemon and also let them meet each other. This was probably the first moment that he actually felt like a real pokemon trainer. It had taken a long time to get to this point, but he was happy to finally get the chance. The main thing though was he already kind of had an idea of what to do. He'd met lots of pokemon trainers in the past back at the gym. Meeting his pokemon was one thing, but battling with them was something else entirely. That was the way to really get to know his pokemon. He looked toward the three of them before speaking again. "I want to battle with all three of you, but one by one. It's a good way to get to know each other and train. I'd like to start with PIplup first." Yuki said as he was looking forward to doing a bit of training with his pokemon.
Piplup was fine with the idea of training each of them on their own. It really would be a good way to get to know Yuki even more, plus he could get stronger in the meantime. He nodded in response to the idea of being the first to try and battle against other pokemon. With that decided, he stayed where he was and looked toward Sneasel and Houndour.
Sneasel let out a slight sigh as it was determined that she wasn't going first. She wanted to battle right now, but it's not like she could do much about it at the moment. ["Fine, I'd rather have gone first though."] Sneasel said as she was a little disappointed, but she'd be fine, as long as she got to go before Houndour.
Houndour liked the idea of each of them taking turns to get to know Yuki better. He also liked the idea that they'd be able to do that and get stronger at the same time. Of course he wanted to get stronger as fast as possible, he couldn't keep everyone safe if his bite wasn't worse than his bark. ["Sounds like a good idea to me, just call on me when the time comes."] Houndour said with a nod as he was looking forward to getting his chance to shine.
Yuki was pleased that this plan actually went over well. Sneasel seemed to be a little less thrilled to not be going first, so of course he'd try battling with her after Piplup. "Alright, thank you. I think this will work out for the best. You two can rest up in your pokeballs. Sneasel, Houndour, return." Yuki said as he returned both of the pokemon to their pokeballs. His attention turned toward Piplup as it was now just the two of them. Yuki was happy to get a chance to work with his starter pokemon. That was really the only reason he decided to go with the water type first.

Yuki wanted to find a wild pokemon that they could battle, but he didn't think they'd find any so easily on the beach. With that in mind, he looked back toward Sandgem Town and figured the best bet would be there. At this point, he wasn't really sure what type of pokemon they'd find, but he'd heard the pokemon near the labs were much easier to take on for newer trainers. "Alright, Piplup, we'll head back into town, I think I saw some trees and grass. Might be better than the beach." Yuki spoke to Piplup before walking back toward town. It felt like he was they type of pokemon who would understand Yuki and follow along. It didn't take too long for them to make it back to town. He managed to find a small park with trees and tall grass, luckily it was away from any buildings, so it was the perfect place to battle wild pokemon. "We're here." Yuki said while glancing back to Piplup. He turned back and approached the tall grass. As soon as he was in range, he came to a stop while hearing and seeing rustling in the grass. This was it, the first wild pokemon that they had run into, finally, it was time to take the next step in his journey. A few moments passed by, before suddenly the pokemon jumped out of the grass and into the open. Yuki had heard of this pokemon before, but he needed more information as he reached for his pokedex.
Piplup looked up toward Yuki as he explained the plan to try and find a wild pokemon back in town. He was fine with this idea, despite liking the beach, Piplup had to agree that it was probably the better idea to search in town. As his trainer had started to walk, so did he as the water type followed along next to Yuki. It didn't take too long to get back into town and track down the small park that was mentioned before. Piplup looked around and once he heard the rustling, his attention turned toward the tall grass. He moved in front of Yuki since it was clear this might be a pokemon. It took a little bit of time, but finally a Shinx appeared from the tall grass and out in the open. The pokemon looked toward Yuki and Piplup and seemed ready for battle. ["I'll take care of this."] Piplup said calmly as he was prepared to battle back. This was Yuki's first chance to battle and he didn't want his trainer to have to worry about it.

Yuki was happy to see that Piplup was willing to take on the wild pokemon. It didn't take any convincing and he really hoped that this battle would go their way. Most of all however, he was excited to try and catch his first pokemon, but before that he wanted to know more about the wild pokemon. He aimed his pokedex toward the Shinx and listened to what the device had to say. 'Shinx, the Flash Pokémon. When Shinx flexes its muscles, it generates electricity. When sensing danger, its fur glistens.' Yuki was glad to hear more about the pokemon and looked forward to trying to catch it. "Alright, Piplup, we're catching that Shinx. Use Pound." He said while pointing toward the wild pokemon.
Piplup could tell that this battle was a good start and hoped that Yuki could get the hang of battling from it. He listened calmly to the pokedex as it spoke in a robotic sounding voice. He ws happy to see that Yuki figured things out rather quickly and told him to use pound. One of his arms began to glow white before he quickly rushed toward the wild Shinx and struck the pokemon with it. This seemed to do quite a bit of damage, though the wild Shinx did not faint. Instead, the pokemon struck back by tackling Piplup and knocking the water pokemon back a few feet.

Yuki watched on as Piplup and the wild Shinx exchanged blows. Normally, the battle might be more in the wild pokemon's favor, but since they were both pokemon at the start of the journey, it didn't make a type advantage matter. Either way, Yuki was happy that he could at least experience his first battle. It also appeared that the Shinx was tired and close to fainting, even though it only got hit once. This was his chance to hopefully finish off this battle and hopefully catch the wild pokemon. "Alright, Piplup, finish it off with one more Pound." Yuki said while pointed forward once more.
It didn't take long for Piplup to get back into the action as he ran toward the wild Shinx. His arm began to glow white once again before he struck the wild pokemon. Like before, Piplup landed the attack and knocked the Shinx back and tumbling to a stop. This time, the attack had caused the Shinx to faint as the fight had ended.

Yuki looked on to see the Pound attack strike the Shinx and knock it out. This was it, the perfect chance to try and catch the pokemon. The new trainer searched through his stuff and found a pokeball after a few moments. It didn't take long before he was prepared and tossed the pokeball toward the Shinx. The ball hit the fainted pokemon before shooting a red beam of light at it. The pokemon disappeared into the pokeball and landed on the ground. Yuki looked on in hopes of catching the Shinx. The pokeball began to shake back and forth a few times as he waited patiently to see if he had caught his first pokemon.

Yuki looked on as the pokeball shook back and forth a few more times. He wasn't sure if that was a good sign or not, but a few moments later his wait came to an end. The pokeball stopped shaking and the red light on the front of the ball turned off. It was official, he had caught his first pokemon. Yuki couldn't help, but smile as it had been a really long time coming, he'd dreamed of catching his first pokemon and finally he had done it. His attention turned toward Piplup before speaking. "We did it Piplup, we caught a pokemon. Thanks for the hard work." Yuki said before walking over toward the pokeball and picking it up. He looked down at it in his hand happily as things had started out well. Though, he still had two more battles to go. Yuki put his new pokeball away on his belt and removed Piplup's before aiming it at him. "I think you earned a rest. I'm sure I'll see you again in time. I'll never forget this first battle" Yuki returned Piplup to his pokeball and decided to explore the small park a little more, hoping to find a new pokemon to battle with Sneasel.
Piplup was watching on too and waited until finally the pokeball stopped moving. The battle was over and they had a new pokemon on their side. Things had started out smoothly and hopefully things would continue that way. His attention turned toward Yuki as he had spoken and he replied back in his usual calm way. ["I'm glad I could help, I guess I'll see you later."] He said before getting returned to his pokeball to rest. Piplup hoped that things would go alright without him, but there was nothing he could really do about the situation.

Yuki had searched for a little while longer in the small park. It was a little larger than he had thought, so exploring through the tall grass and trees, it really started feeling like a forest. Clearly this size of forest wouldn't really stand up to the name. He wondered how long it would take for him to reach an actual forest on his adventure. One day, he'd probably get the chance, but for now, a small green space would do just fine. Yuki had continued his search, but still no sign of wild pokemon. He let out a slight sigh as he thought it'd be a little easier than this. Perhaps he just needed an extra set of eyes. With that in mind, he reached for another pokeball on his belt an let Sneasel out of her pokeball. His attention turned to her and he smiled a bit, glad that he could get to know her a little better. "It's good to see you again, Sneasel. I need help searching this area for a wild pokemon, plus you're going to battle it anyways." Yuki was glad that he could finally get a chance to use the pokemon that Candice had given to him. If Sneasel wasn't really strong by the time he reached home, he wouldn't stand a chance at defeating her.
Sneasel looked around and then toward Yuki as he began to speak. Of course she'd help with finding a pokemon if she was going to battle it. ["Finally, it's about time I got my turn."] Sneasel said as she was happy to finally be getting the chance. She wasn't the type of pokemon who liked to stay still, or wait to battle another pokemon. With her goal in mind and wanting to get stronger, she moved a lot quicker than Yuki and began to search the small park for anymore pokemon at breakneck speed.

Yuki blinked a few times as Sneasel took off at a high rate of speed in her search for a pokemon. He laughed weakly as it was kind of funny that she was quite quick to jump into action. This pokemon was going to be a handful, perhaps this is why Candice gifted the pokemon to him. He wasn't sure the reasoning and that didn't matter, he'd help Sneasel get stronger. With that in mind, he quickly walked after his pokemon, trying his best to keep up. It took longer than he thought to finally catch up as he came to a stop in front of the pokemon. Yuki was breathing a little harder and took a moment to catch his breath. "Hey, Sneasel... you need to slow down... y-you'll never find a pokemon if you scare it away." He had said without looking to see why his pokemon had come to a stop. Suddenly, there was the sound of somebody playing the xylophone nearby. Yuki blinked again as he looked up, seeing an odd looking pokemon making the noise. Sneasel had actually found a wild pokemon for them to battle. He let out a little sigh before chuckling slightly. "I stand corrected... great work Sneasel. Now then, lets defeat it."
Sneasel didn't really know where she was going, but that didn't matter to her. She would find a wild pokemon to battle no matter what, though this park didn't seem to be full of life at the moment. She was about to give up when there was a rustle in the bushes nearby. Sneasel came to a stop and looked toward the rustling as Yuki caught up to her finally. Of course, he didn't know what she had stopped and tried to get her to slow down. ["I knew I'd find a pokemon if I moved quickly. Guess this pokemon was curious enough."] Sneasel said with a grin as she was pleased that she had been correct in searching. As Yuki explained that they would fight this wild pokemon, she was happy and nodded her head before preparing to do battle.

He didn't really enjoy the way they found this pokemon, but that was okay. Yuki wouldn't pass up the chance to battle with Sneasel. She clearly wanted to get stronger and he wasn't about to stop that. Before fighting it, Yuki decided to get some more information as he retrieved his pokedex from his pocket. He flipped it open before aiming it toward the wild pokemon. Just like the last time, a robotic sounding voice spoke out. 'Kricketot, the Cricket Pokémon. When its antennae hit each other, it sounds like the music of a xylophone' Yuki listened and looked at any other information he could before putting the pokedex away. "It's a bug type, but I don't really want one just yet. We'll just defeat this Kricketot. Sneasel, use scratch." The boy said before pointing toward the Kricketot who was nice enough to stay where it was.
Sneasel had been waiting for this moment for a very long time and wanted to make a good first impression. She watched Yuki as he used his pokedex to gather information. Sneasel didn't really care if they were going to catch the pokemon or not, so she just nodded and prepared to attack as soon as Yuki told her. Upon hearing the command to try a Scratch attack, she lunged forward and raced toward the wild pokemon. Sneasel moved quickly and scratched the Kricketot with her sharp claws. To her surprise even, the scratch hit it's mark and sent the bug pokemon to the ground in a heap. The Kricketot had fainted from the single attack. Sneasel blinked a few times as the battle was already over. She looked down as a white oval bumped up against her foot, it appeared to be an egg. The Kricketot must have found it, but since the battle was over, she picked it up and brought it back to Yuki to see.
Sneasel gained 2 exp! Sneasel Leveled up to 6! Houndour Leveled up to 6! Piplup Leveled up to 6! Lucky Egg x1 Received!
