Defeating the Zubat with ease he sighed under his mask. He had no idea what he was doing dealing with these pest Pokemon, the trainers he battle with were giving him much more experience, so there was really no need for him to even be fighting with these Zubat. He was hoping that the Pokemon he dealt with as he moved through Sinnoh would grow more powerful.
He didn’t doubt that would be the case, he had much greater goals than dealing with weak wild Pokemon. He wanted to run into these Pokemon who were much stronger, the legendary type. It seemed the Pokemon with the most potential he had run into were already on his team, which was a disappointing thought to say the least. He did enjoy the idea of being the most powerful, but he hoped that Sinnoh had more to give him than the weakness he was dealing with now.

As King’s journey continued he was growing near his battle with Roark, the first gym leader of the Sinnoh Circuit. At this moment he was unsure if he wanted to remain in Sinnoh. The region held powerful legendary Pokemon, but things were not working out the way that he wanted them to. He had expected to be much further along by this time in his journey. As he looked back towards the city he decided that he would wait long enough to challenge and defeat Roark. From there he would decide whether or not he would move to a different region.
Of all the regions he was unsure which he would head to if he did make that decision. That would be up for introspection once he finished the battle in Oreburgh. He had to focus on training for this battle right now.

The pure ignorance of it all, thinking that anything was possible. All of the trainers who had began their journeys now, although not that much younger than he is had been told that they could do whatever they want with their lives. It was a foolish and childish way to view the world. You can play the hand you are dealt, nothing more, nothing less. You are limited by the traits you are born with, there can be no willing yourself into being more than who you are. However grim this point of view was that was the way the world was.
On looking towards young trainers working together to strengthen themselves he thought about this as he saw them. It was nice to have dreams, it was an entirely different thing to be able to achieve those dreams, having the power to achieve his dreams was what King desired. The power to bring together the people of this world, that was what he wished.

The world was in terrible condition, false hope and deception filled the hearts and minds of the citizens of Sinnoh, and of the other regions. The burden of truth fell on the shoulders of King, he was tasked with bringing the cold truth to the world. That was how he felt, as if nothing else mattered more than showing these people that the hopes that they held on to were nothing more than pipe dreams. Snorting he continued on the route, walking back towards Jubilife. His plan for training involved walking back and forth between the two cities until he felt comfortable enough to battle with this leader. That would involve running into and defeating more wild Pokemon, if he didn’t run into them it would at least give him some time to reflect on his dreams and what he held dear.

It wasn’t long before he got his wish, and a wild Pokemon appeared. Although a mere stepping stone on his way to complete power he didn’t feel bad about knocking these creatures unconscious. He held little concern for those whom he moved past in this world. Every loss for them would be a lesson that they could learn from and move forward with. The Machop had been dominated by the Oblivion Wing, but that Machop would wake up one day and perhaps go on to become the signature Pokemon of a great trainer. But for now, he would have no chance but to accept the defeat and move on.
The Pokemon with him were with him because they recognized what power was, even though he was nothing anything like them he was knowledgeable enough to know that he could recognize a powerful powerful, so it would be foolish to believe that they couldn’t do the same with humans. Confident in who he was now he moved on back towards Oreburgh, not phased at all by the battle that had just happened.

Despite having to battle with weak Pokemon and against weak opponents he felt as if he was growing stronger. It was an invisible strength, not as simple as him learning a new ability but he felt as if he was evolving along with his Pokemon. This journey would provide him with the tools he needed to reach his utopia. As he slipped his hand into his deep pants pocket he continued to walk. He was an interesting, complicated man, there was no way that he would allow himself to be slowed down at this point in his journey. He always had such a difficult time sitting around and doing nothing with his time. So this slow aspect of his journey was something that he loathed, down time meant more time lost inside his own thoughts.

Deciding it would be best to head back into the city he gathered his thoughts and began back towards Oreburgh. It was a nice enough Route that reminded him of Kalos, which was undoubtedly the most beautiful of the regions. While each of them had their landmarks and their own beautiful aspects but Kalos overall the most aesthetically pleasing. Sinnoh seemed to be very industrious and effective at what they did. Which was good for them, they had a very functional and plain life from what he had seen thus far. There was of course nothing wrong with this but it was hardly the type of life that King was accustomed to or enjoyed living. The very effort of walking from place to place was tedious, he had been so used to flying from city to city that he had forgotten what it was like to travel by foot to each city. It was humbling, to say the least.

As he returned to the city he realized that his Piplup was growing more powerful seemingly at the end of every battle. Having the Oblivion Wing must tick something inside of him, he had never even heard of a move like that, let alone dreamed he could have possessed a Pokemon with an ability like that. Much like people every Pokemon had its own strengths and weaknesses, even within the same species so it was natural that some of them would have different abilities than others. It was very natural that there be some incredible examples of a Pokemon type and species. Much as he was a cut above in terms of his own personal ability it was something he saw as a great thing for his thirst for power.
Healing up his Pokemon he thought about what his next move would be as he took a seat outside of the Pokemon center. Unaffected by the stale air that loomed over the city from the excessive coal mining.

Relaxing in Oreburgh he noticed that he was being watched. Without moving his head he shifted his eyes towards the reporter and her camera man looking his way. Without drawing too much extra attention to himself he was approached by the pair. “Excuse me sir, we’ve been hearing news of a masked trainer challenging trainers at Oreburgh city. From the looks of it you’re just who we’re looking for, have time for a few quick words?”
“Very well, you have one question,” his uncaring attitude emanated from his aloof demeanor and callous, metallic voice. Sitting on a bench with his legs crossed his raised up leg tapped at nothing as if he was impatiently waiting for her to speak.
“A-alright,” the reporter sat next to him and got a thumbs up from her cameraman. She held the mic at her chest level as she cleared her throat. “I’m here with the Masked Trainer who has been making quite a name for himself in Sinnoh. If you could give one piece of advice to aspiring trainers what would it be?” A good question, she must have mistaken him for a veteran trainer, it was novel to say the least.
“Advice? My advice to young trainers would be to realize where you fit in the world. Not all trainers are Steven Stones or Reds, know your place in the world and perfect what you do well.” With that he rose up from the bench and began to walk away.
“Ok…” pausing the reporter stood up herself and he could hear her finishing up as he walked off, “that was the Masked Trainer with his tip for young trainers, to find what they excel at and keep at it! This is …” he walked out of earshot from her as he made his way back towards the outskirts of the city to continue his training.

Gaining a reputation wasn’t a bad thing in the slightest. If he was gaining media attention before he had won a gym battle that was showing that he was making an impact on people. Which was going to be good as things went on, he had defeated the Galactic member in Jubilife and had made quite the spectacle in this city as well with his public battle. It wouldn’t be too long before he had his first badge and then could move forward with his plan, moving it closer to completion one step at a time.
