Zeke flew low over Eterna Forest, using his dual wings to control his flight so close to the trees. Riley was on his back, looking for the large mossy rock that Kuraz said he could find his way home from. They were close to where Riley had first met him while he was chasing Mael to that city near Eterna. Crown City, where Noel and Nima had been stolen. So much has happened since then. Thoughts of getting Noel and Nima back, of Kuraz and Hubble and Huey, Berrie, Scarlett, warmed her heart. She'd been through a lot, but she'd made it.
Zeke found the rock and landed, letting Riley slide off his back. "Wait nearby, okay?" Zeke rubbed his face against hers before he flew off, the wind from his wings rippling Riley's clothes. Then Riley released Kuraz, then released Amalia into his arms. "This is it...huh?" Kuraz looked into Riley's big brown eyes, and if it weren't for the silver eevee sleeping in his arms he would have stayed. "I wish I didn't have to go. I enjoyed being with you, Riley. You will be welcome to visit, if you wish. I'll let them know you helped to get Amalia back. You could...even bring your friends. Like Berrie. If you wanted." Kuraz coughed. Riley nodded, although there were tears in her eyes. She wiped them away with the back of her hand. "Oh. Um." She stared at the pokeballs in her hand, a frown on her face. Kuraz pushed them back when she offered them to him. "...keep them." Riley gaped. "Are you sure? I mean, your home, your kingdom, pokeballs are-" Kuraz held up a paw. "I trust you, Riley. Besides, no one has to know." He gave her a toothy smile and then turned and walked into the forest, making his way home. "Wait! But how will I know how to find you!" Riley called out. "I'll come," Kuraz yelled back, although his form was hidden by the brush.
Riley sighed and sat with her back to the mossy rock, staring into the woods for a time after that. She played with the pokeballs in her hands while she did. Slowly, her thoughts turned to what her next steps should be. After all, she had accomplished her goal of getting Noel and Nima back. Maybe now I can focus on my pokedex some more... Riley pulled out her poketch. She wondered if it was too soon to contact Berrie, since they had just split up. Riley did it anyways.

It was only once they had passed the first line of trees did Grayson bother to turn around to check and see if Aita was still with him. Upon doing so he was greeted by the sight of his Magikit, teetering but most definitely floating, in the air. ”Looks like you’re getting the hang of this,” he observed, resting one hand just above his hip. Aita only gave a quiet nod, floating closer to reach his trainer. When he was close enough Grayson plucked the kitten from the air, ignoring his squeak of surprise and placing him on his shoulder. ”We’re on a tight schedule right now, so for now you’re back to shoulder riding,” he explained, and then gave a dry chuckle when Aita simply gave an, eager, nod; he didn't have any complaints.

As to be expected, the forest around them was alive, trees and bushes rustling with the movement of the Pokemon who called the area their home. Grayson, for the most part, ignored the sounds and sights and instead focused on charging ahead. Aita, on the other hand, was almost giving himself with whiplash he moved his head so much. There was just too much stimulation for the young Magikit to keep still and it seemed that, he’d only just spotted something of interest, when something else popped up and he was forced to turn around to investigate; a predicament indeed.

They were almost out of the forest when Grayson stopped suddenly in his tracks, readjusting himself where he stood, and then looking down at the ground. Down at his feet, close enough to scrape against the toe of his feet, were a pair of spectacles. Huffing lightly Grayson leaned down to pick up the item, turning it slowly in his hands before he began to brush the dust and grass that had managed to collect on the lenses. These just weren't a pair of glasses someone had managed to lose, he realized that, and after a moment he placed them into his backpack. Grayson then yawned, rubbed his eyes, and continued on. Almost there.

Riley awoke slowly, not alarmed to find her head pillowed against Seul's soft fur. She stared at the trees above for a few moments, feeling Seul shift his head slightly when he realized she was awake. Riley hadn't realized she was falling asleep, but before she knew it she was out like a light. She was still recovering from everything she'd been through, in a way. Somehow, Kuraz's leaving felt like the start of everything after what came before...if that made sense. Riley sat up and stretched. This forest was really nice, maybe she would stay here and train for a little bit.

There were a lot of interesting pokemon in the woods today. A togepi, treecko, and turtwig all showed themselves and Riley snatched the rare pokemon up. Plus at one point a braviary flew overhead and Riley took to the sky on Zeke, chasing it down and catching it in a pokeball. A little while after they landed, Riley saw an interesting pokemon ahead. It looked like a black cat, wearing a little hat... Riley got out her pokedex to check. "Wow, that's a Meowth?" She already had a meowth, but the kitty wanted to battle! "Okay then, let's battle! Go, Noel, use blizzard!"

There was a rustling in the bushes and Riley cried out. "There's one more, Noel." The buizel leaped over the fallen meowths, spinning on his front paws to face the bushes just as another meowth rushed out snarling. He used a final blizzard on it. The defeated meowths scrambled away, one of them snatching their had that had fallen onto the ground before disappearing into the bushes. "They looked like witches cats, didn't they Noel?" Riley wondered where they had come from.

As Riley walked the forest, content to train and catch pokemon for now, another unexpected pokemon ran into the path in front of her. It looked like a bulbasaur, but what was that orange bulb on its back? Riley tried her pokedex, but it agreed that it was a bulbasaur! "You're a really cool bulbasaur. Hope you don't mind coming with us. Nima, use ice fang!" Riley waited until Nima had sunk in her fangs and stunned the bulbasaur before she threw her pokeball.
Riley bent down to pick up the pokeball but jumped when it rocked against her fingers. "What!" Her knees shook, and the forest rustled as another huge foot thudded the ground. The vibration made the pokeball rock out of its nook in the dirt, bouncing against Riley's feet. Riley picked it up, backing away as a huge venusaur's head breached the trees. Its lazy eyes rolled in the thick, wart-riddled skin, settling on Riley. After a few moments, one vine slowly rose from beneath its flowered top. It reached out, tapping the bulbasuar's pokeball gently, before patting Riley's pocket where she had more empty pokeballs. "Oh. You want...to keep bulbasaur company?" The venusaur's head bobbed slowly. Letting out a shaky breath, Riley smiled and nodded. She collected the venusaur and made sure they were together when she put them away.

Riley had been so distracted by the venusaur, that she hadn't noticed at all when Nima started glowing. Now, she turned and was surprised to find Nima had evolved into a luxio! "Nima! You evolved!" Riley grinned, hugging her around the big black scruff of her neck. Nima purred, her tail waving happy circles in the air. Riley let Noel out to see. He chattered excitedly while Nima walked in a circle to show off. Riley smiled when Noel flexed his arm, as if he were talking about evolving himself. She was glad that the two seemed to have bonded in a healthy way after their abduction by Mael.
A spinarak crawled down a nearby tree, and Riley thought Noel would like a chance to show off. "Noel, use blizzard," she pointed. Noel grinned and whipped an arm, knocking the spider off with an icy blast. Riley had barely finished capturing the bug when she turned to see Noel had knocked out a wandering snivy as well. Riley hurriedly caught it as well, a little harried by Noel's enthusiasm.

Riley was putting her new spinarak away when she felt her phone buzzing. "It's Berrie!" Despite taking a nap and her training, Riley hadn't forgotten about the message she'd sent Berrie. "Oh great!" Riley grinned, leaning into a tree as she started typing up a message. She felt a little awkward in the middle, thinking about Scarlett since she didn't want to let her new Captain down. But she was more excited about exchanging pokemon with Berrie. Hmm, what pokemon should I send her?

In the end, Riley choose Lapras, Smoochum, and Amaura. Three rare and cute (but also cool) pokemon! Riley set it up on her pokedex so that it could send them for Berrie's three pokemon.
Nima snapped her jaws at Noel, sparks flicking down her black mane. Noel grinned and picked himself up from the dirt, leaping behind a tree. Nima followed, but her new strength had her over-leaping past the tree. She scrambled to correct herself. Noel ran up to a wild cubone, slapped it with a freezing blizzard paw, and knocked it into Nima's path. Nima leaped over and crashed into Noel and the two rolled in the dirt.

"Nima! Noel! It's time to go!" Riley called. She was getting hungry. Riley had their balls plus Zeke's out when they came bounding back. "You look pretty great, Nima," she said, happy about the cat's evolution. Nima gleamed under the compliment and dropped something at Riley's feet. "What's this?" She picked up a sea-green rock. Turning it this way and that, she made out the thunderbolt in the middle. "You know you don't evolve with this, right? Thanks, Nima." She patted Nima on the head and put the thunderstone in her bag. Then she returned Nima and Noel and let Zeke out. "Hey Zeke. Time to fly, are you up for it?" Zeke did his low chirp-screech, flapping his wings to show just how able he was. Riley laughed as he bumped into her, urging her to get on. "Okay, okay. We're going to Eterna City, okay buddy?" Zeke lifted off the ground, fluttering along a few dozen yards before there was an opening in the trees large enough for him to zip through.

So long as she could find this place before dusk she'd be fine. Otherwise ... well, she didn't want to think about it. A forest at night just turned on a primal fear in Yukie's head. She wasn't sure what but something about them just crept her out. Maybe it was one too many horror movies as a kid?
