Bug types were another relatively tactical type. Lacking the raw power that some of the other types had they had the advantage of possessing many powerful abilities and skills not available to other types. Capturing Wurmple would give him another option in terms of a bug type to add to his roster if Larvesta began to slack.

With the full team of six Pokemon as well the beginnings of a stable of PC pokemon he could begin forming strategies for moving forward. He knew for sure that Prinplup and Froslass would both be staples moving forward but not much else was set in stone. Grinning under his mask he was looking forward to what the future would hold.

Returning to the site of the mossy rock he squatted down to rest. His long limbs made him look nearly fiendish, his cloak along with the mask and the royal attire it was a very out of place for a forest, or for anywhere really. Pokemon trainers were usually geared for comfort or for long journeys, King seemed to be much different than that. But in reality he was very comfortable in his custom attire and it was as if he was home in that attire.

Letting out a sigh he ran his gloved hand over the glass portion of his mask. He was concerned that he might not be able to handle this Gym Leader as readily as the last, he had the advantageous types, especially with Larvesta and Froslass, but there was no way that he could be sure, either way he was looking forward to the battle.

He had spent a fair amount of time training in the Eterna forest, with no intention to overstay his welcome and push forward with his journey he knew that he needed to get on with things if he was going to proceed at a pace he was comfortable with. Growing complacent wouldn't do.

It seemed that leaving the water did help lessen the competition coming from the water-rock pokemon and expand the variety. They managed to get through the city before any more showed up, but on their way to the nearby forest, a Nosepass appeared. Zakhav sneered, but had Sotnik take it out with a Leaf Tornado all the same, allowing him to try and catch it. Not the most useful or aesthetically pleasing pokemon, in his opinion, but maybe he could get someone to take it from him for a trade or something.

While they walked through the trees, the pokemon continued coming. Zakhav seemed to be half paying attention, doing something on a portable, hand held device, but glanced up as an odd pokemon appeared, one that looked like it had a shield for a face. ”Sotnik,” was the only indication he gave, but the pokemon caught on, moving forward, trying to discern his enemy. Obviously it was rock… but maybe also ground? He considered his options, then went with a Leaf Tornado, but it wasn’t enough to wipe it out. Okay, not rock and ground. The pokemon retaliated and the next Leaf Tornado took it out, but if he came across it again, he would have to try a different tactic.

Sotnik drooped a bit as they walked. He was feeling good from all the wins, he was definitely getting a lot stronger—a lot—but it was exhausting to continue on like this. He lifted his head as an unfamiliar sound echoed ahead of them, eyes widening as he saw a red and orange pokemon hovering ahead of them. Panicking and thinking it a fire type, he immediately leaped forward, hitting it hard with an Aqua Tail, landing and breathing heavily, staring at it K.O.ed. Zakhav raised an eyebrow as he looked down at the servine, and Daeva curiously peered around his neck, down at the two. After a moment, Sotnik caught his breath, then puffed his chest out, arms held out by his side, bent in a proud pose. He... had defeated a FIRE POKEMON!
"It vas psychic," Zakhav spoke up, apparently catching onto what was going on. Sotnik blinked, paused, dropped his arms, and then looked up at his trainer. "Not fire." Zakhav tossed the pokeball at the unconscious pokemon, and Sotnik deflated a bit, disappointed, but followed after his trainer as they headed deeper into the forest.

Which worked well as far as Lillipup was concerned. It let him curiously stare at his trainer's belt without getting noticed. For that pokeball was still struggling, straining to open, gradually stretching the tape that held it, clearly trying to make it snap, or wear down. Which wasn't really working, but it did seem to be slowly stretching it. It had to take a lot of effort to be doing it, though, but maybe it just needed it open a bit... Lillipup's interest was noticed by Sotnik, and then Deys, and both watched the pokeball a moment. They exchanged another look, but then turned ahead, evidently deciding not to say anything. For... some reason....

Du made her way through the forest, taking in the beautiful scenery that was surrounding her and kept an absent eye on Niamh as she bounded around and frolicked in the grass. The forest certainly provided a lot of interesting things to see and Du was actually rather surprised just how differently the forests grew and housed life from one region to another. It was no wonder that the professors took such a profound interest in such things. Though, if Dumuzi was going to be studying anything, it would probably be more along the lines of different habitats of Fairy types and how they interacted with the world around them and influenced it in their natural state. Sadly with such a narrow vision of what she was interested in as far as pokemon, she probably wouldn’t make a very good professor. Oh well. For now she should probably just stick to contests anyway… her mom probably wouldn’t approve of her coming back a scholared learner of pokemon after stealing her brothers pokemon to start off on her own journey.

With the final stretch of the journey through the forest under their feet, Dumuzi watched as Niamh bounded over to her and stood on her back legs and looking up expectantly at her. Du gave a bit of a chuckle and picked up her beloved little pokemon and snuggled her close, earning a few pebbly licks under her chin. The action caused Dumuzi to giggle and scrunch her neck into her shoulders as a reactionary reflex before she nuzzled her pokemon. Dumuzi could see the sunlight starting to break through the forest exit and her smile became a little more amused. ”Well Niamh, it looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day, huh?” Niamh gave a happy yip in response as the pair walked out of the forest and into Eterna City.
