The Battle Zone is a separate island to the northeast of the mainland of the Sinnoh region, nearest to Veilstone City on the mainland. It is considered a sub-region of Sinnoh and is implied by some living on the island as a different region altogether, not unlike how the Sevii Islands are considered a separate region from Kanto and Johto.
The island is dedicated to battling, especially in its largest settlement, the Fight Area. The Sinnoh Battle Tower is located just north of the Fight Area in Battle Park. The island also has two smaller settlements, the Survival Area and Resort Area. Much like the Sevii Islands, the Battle Zone has no Pokémon League. The northernmost tip of the island is where Stark Mountain.
Fight Area Fight Area is the town players will arrive at when first visiting the Battle Zone. Not too many people actually live in this area, as most of the people there are simply visitors to the Battle Tower. Still the same, it is the only port on the island, and so it is the center for goods that come in and out of the area.
Survival Area Closest area to Stark Mountain. Only the serious trainers journey here, for the area's brutal landscape and scorching heat from the volcano make it the perfect place for hardcore training. However, a few people do make their homes in the shadow of Stark Mountain.
Resort Area Almost seeming out of place on the island is the Resort Area, home to the Ribbon Syndicate. This area is a popular spa and resort for traveling trainers, mostly those who have a pretty penny to spend. A true slice of paradise on earth, this resort has pretty much everything to ensure relaxation.
The Syndicate is an elite group of Contest trainers who have collected many ribbons in their journeys. They do offer some ribbons for sale, however most are for ridiculous prices, and serve for no other purpose than to brag.
This area is more geared towards those who participate in contests, hence the presence of the Syndicate. As such, surprisingly, there is no Poke'Mart in this portion of the island.

Ajicka woke up with Jas and Bagon curled up around her, and Swampert sitting near the railing, looking out at the waters, the fins on her face shifting slightly with subtle changes in the air. She glanced at Jas, groggily trying to remember if he had been out when she fell asleep, then shook her head, shifting to stand. People were getting ready to deboard, and she needed to get up off the ground and return her pokemon. Bagon woke, looking sleeping, and Jas simply yawned and curled up a bit more tightly. Smiling, she returned the fire pokemon, gave Bagon a pat, and returned him as well, shedding a few layers. It was substantially warmer, and the island was... expansive to say the least.
She wanted to get right into training, but first, she was going to take a look at her items, and what she had to work with, before setting out.

Ajicka went to a pokecenter, making sure her pokemon were healed up, and she had proper supplies. Once everyone was set, and she'd done one last bit of shopping, she let everyone out of their pokeball. First thing was first-- she handed everyone but Jas a Lucky Egg, an item she had been saving up, and was now glad she had-- she had just enough, with her recent shopping trip, to make sure that everyone but her already powerful pokemon had one. Next, given that the battles were going to be long on their own, she switched out Arrow's Sky Attack for Fly-- they might have been both two turn attacks, but at least Fly could be used to avoid damage as well. She also switched Jas' Slash attack for Rock Slide, something she had got specifically to teach to him, and gave him the BalmMushroom, though... it seemed to have no immeditae effect.
With that done, she returned all but Bagon, who wouldn't get to battle, but she wanted to let him out to roam all the same. Immediately heading for the battle area, she cracked her knuckles, smirking and issuing a challenge to battle five trainers in a row, without healing her pokemon aside from status conditions, but she would be allowed to use type advantages. She wanted to do some fast battling first, and then she'd start training her pokemon against others of the same type. The way she liked to battle
The person who first came to the challenge was a flying type trainer, and Ajicka sent Jolteon out, quickly finishing off the first pokemon sent out, a Pidgeott, and using Nidoking to bring down the Hawlucha that followed after. Following that, a Pidgey, which Jolteon quickly took down with another couple of thunder attacks. The last two pokemon, a Hoppip and a Jumpluff, were brought down immediately by Nidoking.

Sneering, the individual returned his pokemon, called her a cheat, and stormed off. She stared after him, clearly unfazed-- after all, she had stated the restrictions of the challenge. The next person looked amused at the previous challengers reaction, tossing out their first pokemon, a Golem, which Ajicka met with Swampert, and the person smirked knowningly, nodding before beginning the battle.

Despite the smoothness of the battle and the overwhelming out matched typings, the two trainers shook hands, and Ajicka smirked, nodding as the individual thanked her. A much better sport, and she was grateful for it. She even offered to battle again, after he healed his pokemon, for a more even battle, once she was done with this particular challenge. He nodded, heading off, and she turned to the next individual, who sent out a Venusaur, and looked far less jovial than the previous one.
His pokemon were fairly strong, she had to admit, though she proudly sent Jas out against his own Charizard, taking him down with his newly learned rock move. The Swampert that followed, she hesitated, and then decided to send her own Swampert against it, evening the playing field a bit.

The battle was finsihed up quickly, and though Ajicka remarked on his interesting collection and strong pokemon, the man simply stared at her, before returning his pokemon, and striding off. So far, so good... but she could tell her pokemon were starting to get low on their health. More than likely, they were going to start fainting soon, but if she could, she would try and keep them conscious, for as long as possible. She'd only gone through three trainers so far... she still had two more. On the plus side, if she needed to... she was pretty sure Jas could pretty much take on a team all by himself.
The fourth challenger stepped up, and Ajicka pulled out her pokeball, meeting the Murkrow they sent out with Nidoking.

With Arrow on the verge of fainting, Ajicka was a bit grateful that she only had one more trainer to battle. She thanked the young girl who, poutingly, left after she had been defeating. She could tell her pokemon were getting stronger, but it was hard to keep up with all the battles. She would do one more... and then take a break, so that her pokemon could catch their breaths, and they could all eat.

Exhausting! That was the only word Ajicka could think of as she dropped back in her seat at the pokecenter while her pokemon were healed. Five battles, but they were long, against strong pokemon. Not quite the same level as hers, but strong, and high in numbers. All the trainers had five pokemon... Which means she had just taken down twenty five pokemon with her team. It was enough to give her ego a nice little inflation, but she quickly snapped herself back into place, reminding herself that she had used type advantages and that the opponents hadn't known what to expect. Furthermore, some of them didn't exactly use the strongest moves that they could have-- she should consider herself lucky for that, because otherwise, her pokemon likely would have fainted.
Rubbing her forehead, she leaned back, looking at her pokedex, where she had recorded some of the battle information, and had her pokemon's info. She was so proud of them, and they had already gained so much experience from those battles alone. The Lucky Eggs were undoubtedly paying off as well, and she wanted to take advantage of those while she could, because she still needed to get them stronger. She didn't plan to do much training, if any, between the seventh and eighth gym leaders, which meant that her pokemon needed to be ready to take down Blain with relative ease, so that Gary wasn't completely out of reach.
That also meant pushing the limits-- she knew that if she got them too strong, they might stop obeying her. She knew them, she'd trained them and raised them through so many battles, and though it seemed inconceivable that they would turn against her, everyone could get cocky, or decide that she needed to prove herself, or... anything else. She was fairly certain she had some time before she needed to worry about that, but she would keep an eye on it. Now that they were all starting to catch up with Metagross, it was just a matter of rotating them so that no one got too far ahead of the pack. Or... maybe it would be easier to focus on them one at a time? It was hard to tell...
She looked over at Bagon, who was running around, chasing after a Zubat. She would have called him back if the trainer the bat belonged to didn't seem to be enjoying the spectacle. If there was one thing she was certain on... it was that Bagon was going to be one of her top priorities after she had got her badges from Kanto...

As her pokemon were placed up on the counter, Ajicka stood, calling to Bagon so he would stop chasing after the Zubat. He looked over, then back at the pokemon, as if to send it one final, silent threat, before trotting over to her and falling into pace at her heels. She tucked her pokeballs away as she left, wondering where Deoxys might be, and almost immediately receiving a response. 'I am currently surveying the island,' he informed her calmly, and she could almost see him gliding over the landscapes, 'It's quite the geological spectacle.''Are you always in my head?' she questioned, a bit annoyed, and ignoring his remark, 'Or do you just happen to catch my thoughts COINCIDENTALLY when they're regarding you...' There was silence, but a present silence, where she could almost feel him considering her words, and then... nothing. It was funny, she hadn't sensed him sifting through her thoughts before, but now that he wasn't... she was aware of his disappearance.
Shaking her head, she headed out, placing her final pokeball away, but blinking as a female trainer came bounding up. "Hey, hi there! I saw you battling earlier... I was wondering if maybe you'd be up for another battle? I want to see how my pokemon stack up against yours. But here's the thing! You seem to really like challenging yourself, so what do you say to taking on my team of five, with just two of your pokemon, huh?" The girl playfully stuck out her tongue, holding up her fingers in a piece sign, which only elicited a raised eyebrow from Ajicka.
"That depends what your pokemon are.... But, sure, I'll take that challenge," she decided, frowning and moving away so they could battle, "So long as you don't mind sending your pokemon out first...""Noooot at all~" the girl replied, throwing out her pokeball, and sending out a Donphan. Ajicka quirked an eyebrow, paused a moment, then sent out Nidoking, which received a blank stare from the girl. "O-oh.... Nidoking huh? H-heh... I totally thought you'd choose... Swampert...." she admitted, laughing a bit. Ajicka quirked an eyebrow, then raised a hand.

The girl sweat dropped a bit as her pokemon went down after two hits, returning it a little nervously. "W-well, not the best start, then! Your Nidoking is... is pretty powerful, I have to admit!" she commented. Ajicka smirked a bit, but said nothing. He was, to have stood up to an attack he was weak to, and still look like he could take down several more pokemon. The girl waffled a moment, then tossed her pokeball up again. "Come on out, Floette!" she called out, releasing the pokemon.
No wonder she had hoped Swampert would be out... she had grass pokemon up her sleeve.

Well, things clearly weren't going as expected, for the girl. Ajicka watched as she sent out an Onix after her failed attempts at using grass type pokemon, wondering if perhaps her strategy had been to use the grass pokemon to take out Swampert, and to use the ground/rock to take out whatever pokemon she sent out to finish off the grass types. It was a smart strategy... but it was too luck based. She certainly had to commend her for the thought put into it, though.
Unfortunately, luck just wasn't with her, either. "That was a good battle," she remarked, returning Arrow as he brought down her Onix. "If I had chosen my pokemon just a little differently, you might have won that.""Y-yeah... ha... ha..." The girl sighed, returning her fallen pokemon with a pout, but then offering a smile. "You're pretty strong. I'm Vaiya, by the way," she said, holding out her hand. Ajicka smiled, reaching otu to shake her hand. "Ajicka."

After saying goodbye to the girl, Ajicka went inside to heal her pokemon, then set out. She blinked, though, as she spotted a familiar face, vaguely aware of Deoxys flying by overhead, and lowering himself nearby. At first, she wasn't entirely certain where she had seen the young man before... but suddenly she realized, he had been the same boy she met in Rock Tunnel, back when she had first started her journey, and again, later. She couldn't remember his name, if she had ever learned it, but she approached with a raised eyebrow, eying the Arcanine he was petting. "Hey...." she greeted warily. He blinked, turning, and then breaking out into a smile. "Hey! Uh... Ajicka?" he recalled, giving a sheepish grin. "Yeah...""Brian," he reintroduced with a laugh, noticing her lack of return. She gave a bit of a smile, nodding in recognition.
"I take it you're training? Care for a battle?" he offered, holding up a pokeball with a bit of a grin. She raised her eyebrows, but then smirked, nodding her head. "Yeah... sounds good." She stepped back, watching as he sent out a Blastoise to start off.

Brian started with what was apparently his starter pokemon, a Blastoise. Ajicka raised an eyebrow, smiling a bit and tossing her pokeball in her hand thoughtfully. "Huh... so you did start in Kanto," she remarked with a bit of amusement, tossing her pokeball up to release Swampert. "Yeah, you... have a Charizard, right...?" he started, though faltered a bit at the release of the Hoenn starter pokemon. "Heh, yeah. But, uh... no offense, I don't think even your Blastoise would really stand a chance against him. He's... about twice the level, and has thunderpunch," she replied, placing a hand on her hip. Brian blinked. ".... Guess I really need to pick up on my training..." he muttered, frowning and looking down as he scratched the back of his head. Ajicka shrugged, then lifted her head. "Start 'er off with Blizzard, Swampert!" she commanded.
Brian snapped out of his thoughts, jumping back to action to send his Blastoise back with an Aqua Tail. The two went back and forth for a while, Ajicka changing to Earthquake for the last two, final blows, before Blastoise fell. "Foo... you're pokemon really are strong, huh..." Brian remarked, returning his Blastoise. Ajicka smiled a bit, doing the same with Swampert as he sent out a Pidgeot. "We've trained a lot, and been through hell and back... Stands to reason we'd be able to hold our own. Sorry about the match up, by the way, but flying vs flying is the fairest I can get, I think," she said. He smiled a little, nodding, and the second round began, Arrow being sent out to bring the PIdgeot down with a few Ancient Power attacks.
This battle was perhaps one of her lengthiest, as she sent Jolteon out against Brian's Raichu. Of course, this was the kind of battle she was always preparing for-- so that she could send her pokemon out against it's own type, and still dominate with smart moves and tactics. It was why she tried to diversify her pokemon's movesets as much as she could, when possible.
Brian returned Raichu after it was defeating, sending out his Arcanine, which, Ajicka had to admit, looked incredibly strong, and well taken care of. "I know she's got a ground move," Ajicka remarked, frowning, "And it seems like I'm using type advantage, but...""Yeah, I know," Brian interrupted, smirking, "You're fire type is too strong." Ajicka's frown deepened a bit. "Well, that, and all my pokemon have a type advantage. Swampert's ground/water, Nidoking is ground/poison, Aerodactyl is flying/rock. Metagross would be weak to fire, but he still has Earthquake, and he's pretty strong," she admtited, "Jolteon's really the only even match."
"Jol!" the electric pokemon added. Brian smiled, rubbing the back fo his head. "If I didn't know better, I would guess you were getting ready to fight Blain, with a team like that..." he remarked with a nervous sort of laugh. She shrugged. "I didn't pick the team for him, they've always been with me... but yeah, I am," she confessed, giving a casual shrug. He smiled a little, but then nodded, continuing the battle.
The last round was between Shuckle and Arrow, with Arrow finishing Shuckle off with a few Iron Head attacks, and ending the battle. It was.... definitely a good performance on both ends. "That was pretty impressive," Ajicka remarked as Arrow gave a happy croon and took off into the air to celebrate, "Sorry about him, though. He's a bit of an air head." Brian laughed as she gestured up to the flying-rock pokemon, returning his own and shaking his head. "Nah, he deserves it! He took down two of my pokemon, after all. This is, aha... definitely a good reminder how I need to stay on my training," he admitted, ruffling up the back of his hair. Ajicka shrugged. "Everyone has their own pace," she returned, "Come on, let's go get everyone healed."

Once their pokemon were healed, Ajicka and Brian went their separate ways, mentioning possibly meeting up again before they left the island for another battle, or to plan a future reunion. She wasn't sure she would really cally him a friend, but... it was nice to have another familiar face. Especially since she hadn't heard from Jimmy, or... Rose? She blinked, noticing her Holo Caster had a message, and opened it up. She raised her eyebrows when she found it was from her friend, pulling out Metagross' pokeball to absently fiddle with while she listened. Jas released himself, as if hearing the familiar voice, shaking his head and then leaning down over her other shoulder to peer into the message. He gave a happy roar at recognizing Rose and her voice, pulling back as Ajicka started up a response of her own, now tossing the pokeball up and down in her hand.
"No problem, I figured you had some catching up to do," she started, absently tossing the pokeball, "And thanks for the invite, but, sorry Rose, I gotta focus on getting my badges. We should definitely meet up again, though." She gave a smirk. "I'm sure Jas would love to battle Fynx." Jas gave an indignant little grumble and nudged her, which only made her grin. "Okay, maybe I have the interest in battling. I'm sure your pokemon have gotten stronger, though, and I wouldn't mind catching up. Have fun with your friends." As she sent the message, she noticed an individual approaching from her left, and quick made sure the message went through before closing her holo caster.
"Hello there, Mademoiselle~" the man greeted. Ajicka gave him an unimpressed sideways stare. "I noticed you had quite the impressive pokemon~ I would love to join in a battle with you. You may even use your, how you say... type advantages?" he offered, giving a wink, and then a smirk. She blinked, then gave a grin. "Sure. Sounds good..." she agreed, putting Metagross' pokeball out.
The man chuckled, sending out a Pelipper, and, with raised eyebrows, she sent out Jolteon. He sweatdropped slightly, glancing at Jas, and then the electric type. What, did he think she was a fire type trainer? "A-ah, that is an... excellent choice. But--""Thunder, Jolteon."

The man hung his head after he was defeated, clearly having expected to put up a better fight than that. He must have assumed quite a bit about her, to think her pokemon wouldn't be faster than his, or that she wouldn't use the type advantage he had so generously given her. He returned his pokemon and skulked off, and she healed her pokemon, even though they hadn't taken much damage. She managed to wander a bit further before she found another trainer, and challenged them to a battle. This time, she tried not to use type advantages quite as much, or at least... not as consistently, withotu giving the other pokemon a type advantage in return. Well... except maybe with two of them....
