Jolteon gave a sturdy nod and fell into a lope to catch up with Ajicka, dropping back into a steady trot by her side. She could tell the pace was literally nothing for the electric type, who looked around as they ran, ears swiveling to pick up any nearby sounds. She was still anxious, evidently... But that wasn't surprising.
Bowing her head slightly, Ajicka began a slow arch so that they would begin up the mountain at an angle, pacing her breath. Now that she thought about it, she'd been slacking off on her own training. All this walking was fine and all, but it didn't really increase her fitness that much-- she needed to start jogging more, doing push ups and other things. She needed to get stronger, just like her pokemon.

The mountain continued to get steeper as the two jogged, slowing Ajicka's pace. Jolteon seemed to only lengthen her stride, pulling ahead but slowing when she noticed her trainer falling behind. Not sure whether to be embarrassed or proud, Ajicka gestured for her to keep going, puffing along behind her. It was a fairly warm day, but she wanted to try and keep going until she was tired, doubling a back so that they zigzagged along the edge of the mountain. It was too wide and to large to just go around or go over-- they would have to ultimately go through, and with the sun beginning to beat down on her, Ajicka headed for a cave entrance she had spotted, figuring they could jog their way through it, and find a few other places to exercise. Hopefully Deoxys was keeping track, and would follow along.
Considering he had practically stalked her since Kanto, though... she wasn't worried.

Trotting their way back down the slope of the mountain's base, Ajicka slid off the side, ducking down under the mountain trees and slowing to a walk. They'd been running for a decent amount of time, and she was feeling out of breath, a stitch forming on her side as her clothes dampened with sweat. Disgusting. But she didn't mind. At least it meant she was doing a good amount of exercise. Though she was sort of wondering if perhaps it would be better to stick around near that river than duck into a cave where she had no idea if she could wash off if she needed it...
She started towards the entrance regardless, figuring at the very least, there had to be a town on the other side, and where there was a town, there was showers. She could care less about the dirty looks she may get if she trudged into the pokecenter covered in dirt and sweat-- at least she could proudly claim her accomplishment of training herself. Jolteon seemed perfectly fine by her side, and she looked down at the electric type, eying her curiosuly, with an analytical eye.

She had grown so much since she first met her, when she was hurt, and guarded. She was still guarded, now that she thought about it... Her connection with Jolteon always felt fractured, broken. The pokemon had fainted on her multiple times-- or rather, she had let her faint. The trust had never fully bridged there, and though she knew that Jolteon would listen to her, there was a lack of the same kind of connection she had with Jas. She couldn't tell what the pokemon was thinking, just by looking at her. At least with Metagross, there was a sort of psychic connection, so his stoic nature didn't bother her. Jolteon would protect her, and she would do the same... but still...
She looked down, frowning as she stared at the grass. She didn't know how to fix something like this. She wasn't even sure it needed to be fixed... or, well... she was, but it would be easy to convince herself that she wasn't. She knew how strong Jolteon was and how much potential she had, she just wasn't sure how to convey that, how to connect with her. And she certainly didn't want to have to go through anything like the ball to try and accomplish something like that...

Sighing, Ajicka reached up to rub her temples, closing her eyes but continuing to walk. She was feeling a bit caught up on breath now, and picking up her jog again was sounding much more enjoyable than trying to sort through these thoughts. 'Ajicka.' She grimaced as Deoxy's voice floated through her mind, figuring he was probably about to chide her for avoiding the subject. Instead, however, he spoke with a tone of urgency, his voice resonating with a subtle sense of warning. 'There's something going on. I think we should help.' She looked up to the sky with a frown, even though she had no idea where he was actually contacting her from. '"We"? Do you mean me?' she thought, looking around.
'... Yes.' She sighed. It hadn't even been a single day with this pokemon, and she could already tell he was going to be exhausting to deal with. 'Where?'
Minutes later, she was running through the trees, Jolteon by her side, sprinting up ahead. They could hear the commotion Deoxys had directed them towards, shouts, stereotypical cries of 'Get him!' and 'Don't let it get away!' What, were they chasing a trainer and their rare pokemon, or something? Or perhaps some thief... Bursting into a clearing, she barely caught a glimpse of a tall figure disappear into the trees, and two others quickly follow after. "Hey!" she shouted, racing after them. What had she got herself into this time...

"Hey girl! Go home!" one of the men shouted, scowling over his shoulder as he looked back at her. "Yeah! Sure!" she called back between breaths, "Just tell me what the hell is going on first, ya?" He narrowed his eyes and glared at her, then gave an angry growl and sprinted on ahead. "Non of your business," his associate snarled back, slowing,a nd then turning to face her, a pokeball in his hand. "This has nothing to do with you!"
"You're in my way! That's my business! Jolteon!" The electric pokemon leaped forward, diving down under the ground and disappearing as she continued to charge towards the man, who's eyes widened. He lifted his arm, ready to release his pokemon, just as Jolteon emerged from the ground, headbutting him to the ground, and leaping off him to continue running ahead as Ajicka raced by. "Hey!" she shouted to the other man, "You're next if you don't tell me what the hell is going on here!""What the hell is wrong with you!?" the man shrieked back at her, looking over his shoulder, then trying to push forward even faster.
'Are you sure I'm chasing the right person here?' she thought at Deoxys, annoyed as she tried to keep up with the pursuing man. 'If you weren't, I would have warned you before you had your pokemon tackle that man...' his voice replied. She glanced up, finally spotting him soaring overhead, grimacing but baring down and trying to catch up. She really wasn't sure she'd be able to reach them, at this point... and she still didn't know who, or what, they were even chasing...

Ajicka rolled her eyes, reaching back for a pokeball, then pausing, and glancing down at Jolteon, who had her eyes locked onto the man growing further ahead of them. If she called out another pokemon... Well, Jolteon might not care, but it certainly didn't instill a lot of confidence in her pokemon if she was resorting to bringing in back up. Furthermore, now that she thought about it, Jolteon had done an exceptional job at taking down the man before. She hadn't needed to say more than her name, and she leaped into action. There might not have been the same connection that she had with Jas, or some of her other pokemon... but they knew each other, that much was certain.
"Jolteon! Don't let him get away!" she commanded. "Jol!" Leaping forward, Jolteon arched her back, sending a bolt of electricity to the man, electrocuting him and bringing him to his knees. "Go cut off the other guy," she commanded, slowing up next to the man as he shakily tried to push himself up. 'Ajicka...'"I want to know what the hell kind of errand you're sending me on," she snapped up at the pokemon, only to see he was no longer there. She scowled, looking back at the slightly crispy man who now glared up at her. "Wh-what are you talking about, you crazy b***h!?" he shouted, looking up with anger, and surprisingly, fear. She quirked an eyebrow, swung her foot back, and then stopped as Deoxys spoke again. 'AJICKA!' There are more of them coming!' his voice boomed in her voice, carrying a subtle lack of total emotion, if anything, only disapproval, perhaps impatience? She couldnt' tell. His voice was subtle, she honestly wasn't sure if there ever was true emotion-- simply conveyed emotions that tagged along with them through the psychic connection.
She paused, then swung her foot out, kicking the man in the head, and knocking him unconscious. The sound of footsteps pounded behind her, and she turned, ready.

The man Jolteon had knocked down earlier had caught up, looking out of breath, flustered, and more irritated than ever. "You bi--!""Nidoking! Come on out!" Ajicka cut him off, unfazed but slightly exasperated by the unfinished insult. The large poison-ground pokemon emerged with a defensive roar, making the man come to a screeching stop, stumbling and nearly losing his balance as he quickly tried to backpedal away, eyes wide. "I'm trusting you to keep this guy busy while I go find Jolteon and the other man. Do your best, alright? And tell Deoxys if you need help," she ordered, glaring at the man, who was looking quickly between her and the powerful pokemon standing before him.
Nidoking gave a rumbling growl of confirmation, and with that, she took off.

While Nidoking took on the trainer, Ajicka raced ahead, looking for any signs of Jolteon, or the man that had been fleeing. "Ah-- hey!" Her head whipped about at the sound of a shout, followed by an annoyed bark from Jolteon, and she immediately sprinted off. If this turned out to be a load of nothing, she was going to have to have a very serious discussion about priorities with Deoxys....

Back with Nidoking, the man sent out powerful Aerodactyl, that, despite getting frozen with Nidoking's first attack, thawed out, striking an Iron Head attack that nearly made the poison-ground pokemon flinch. Nidoking grumbled, shaking his head, but stepped forward after recovering, pulling his fist back, and slamming the pokemon down, finishing it off quickly, and raising dark eyes to stare challengingly back at the man. It was clear he was taking his trainer's words to heart, and if the man wanted to get past, he was going to have one hell of a time doing it.
The next pokemon, a Zoroark, was taken out in only one hit, and the man's hand shook as he sent out the final pokemon, a little Zorua, the same level as the previous one. And it was taken down just as quickly.

Confident of Nidoking's ability to defend himself, and that Deoxys would alert her to any changes to that, Ajicka pushed herself to sprint over the ground, breathing hard, her lungs on fire. This was not the workout she had been planning! This was outrageous! She'd been thinking a jog, lifting weights, doing curls. Steady, rhythmic exercise, to build up muscle! Not killing herself to help some... some random... thing! Probably a person, now that she thought about it. She finally reached another slight clearing, where the trees thinned out, spotting Jolteon growling, sparks jumping from her fur as she stared down at the man she had managed to cut off.
He stared back, teeth gritted, eyes wide, but burning with frustration as he clenched his hands into fists by his side. If she had to guess, Ajicka would probably say that he had been trying to get past her pokemon for a while, and hadn't succeeded.
And strangely enough... she recognized him. He was from the town she had left... whatever it was called. Just before she left, they briefly interacted. Huh... and now the snob had got himself in trouble. What a surprise...
"Huh... You. What, you leer at the wrong girl and piss off her brothers?" she remarked, crossing her arms. The man spun around, his gaze sharpening into a daggered stare as he looked at her. "This is your pokemon!? Tell it to back off!" he snapped. She frowned, looking him over, noticing the panic behind his eyes. "Hmmm..."'He's not what you think,' Deoxys spoke, floating down beside her. She quirked an eyebrow and looked at him skeptically, but raised her eyebrows in surprise when the young man looked at Deoxys with a venemous glare. "Shut up!" he yelled, suddenly stepping forward.
Ajicka reciprocated, darkening her own expression. "Step closer and Jolteon will shock you so hard you'll have smoke coming off your hair," she threatened, glancing at the electric type, who instantly increased her electrical input and growled threateningly. The man backed off, glancing over at her, then staring at Ajicka. "Now what--"
She was cut off as two more individuals, a woman and an older gentleman, appeared, both with pokeballs in hand. 'I warned you more were coming...'

Shooting Deoxys an annoyed look, she turned to the two, folding her arms. She could hear branches snapping behind her, but the creature was heavy, and a lack of warning from the psychic pokemon beside her reassured her it was Nidoking, returning from his battle. Hopefully that meant the man had fled... or was unconscious like his friend. "If you two are thinking about starting something," she started apathetically, unmoving as Nidoking came to a stop just behind her, "You should stop and consider the fact that I just took down those other two goons you had chasing after this... whoever he is. My pokemon could use the experience, but I'd rather not waste my time without knowing what the hell is going on."
She gestured absently at the purple-haired man that Jolteon had been keeping still, but never took her eyes off the two. They exchanged a look, then gazed back at her, frowning. "You took down Jira and Tony?" the woman muttered, gripping her pokeball more tightly. "Suuuure...." Ajicka drawled, gesturing absently, "If that was their names." The two exchanged looks, then stepped back. "So.... no explanation then?" she asked, drawing out Jas' pokeball, and releasing him as well. Deoxys must have informed him of the situation-- he put on the brilliant act of roaring as he was released, blowing fire with flames licking at his jaws even as he retracted his head, glowering across at the two, who immediately backed up, and then fled.
Rolling her eyes, she turned to the man that still remained, though he stared at Jas with wide eyes, paled considerably and looking ready to run as well-- or faint. "Thanks Jas," she said, patting the fire type as she stepped forward. He immediately lightened up, giving a happy chirrup in return, then looking curiously at the man, who recovered and shook his head. "Gentle giant..." the man muttered, eying Jas, then glancing at Nidoking, and narrowing his eyes at Deoxys. "You going to explain what the hell was up with that?" she asked, ignoring his remark and crossing her arms back over her chest.
He looked back at her, then lifted his head up, gesturing absently with one hand and placing the other on his hip. "Oh I'm sure you're little psychic buddy there can tell you everything," he drawled back. She glanced at Deoxys, who looked back at her, then both at him. "He won't," she stated bluntly, then a bit bitterly, "Apparently." The man stared at her a moment, then shrugged. "Well, too bad. I ain't explaining it. Thanks for saving my a** but you probably wouldn't understand anyway," he decided. She stared bluntly at him, her gaze darkening a bit, with Jas looking over at her with slightly wide eyes.
"Jol--"'Ajicka no.' Ajicka stopped, glancing at Deoxys, then grumbling and turning. "Fine, whatever. Have fun saving yourself," she said, turning away. She barely caught the man shifting his weight out of the corner of her eye, but when she turned back to return Jas... he was gone.

Ajicka stared at the spot a moment, Jas' pokeball still held in her hand, exactly as she'd held it when she returned him. Whoever that guy was... He had vanished. Her eyes scanned the area, before she turned away, frowning. Maybe she should have demanded more information. Beat him up or something, taught him a lesson about gratitude. Just at the thought, though, she could feel the judging radiating off Deoxys, and shot him a scowl, before neutralizing her expression-- and emotions-- and turning to Nidoking.
"Thanks for your help, Nidoking. You were phenomenal," she said, giving an appreciative nod, and returning the poison-ground pokemon as he bowed his head in return. He really had got strong. She still remembered him as that tiny, quiet nidoran, staring with a twitchy nose. It brought a smile to her face, and she let the thoughts of the ungrateful man slip away as she headed back towards the entrance to the mountain. It was time to start actually making some progress, and stop lurking around the base of this place.

Heading back through the trees, Ajicka ran a hand through her hair, grimacing at the sweat and dirt on her face. She was definitely going to try and find a place to wash off when she could. If not on her way, then certainly when she managed to arrive... wherever she ended up coming out near. If she had to, she could fly on Fearow, but as soon as she entered the cave, that wouldn't really be an option.
Wiping her hand off on her jeans and trudging forward, she headed straight for the entrance, glancing up to see Deoxys disappear up into the sky, perhaps to soar over the mountain, or simply to disappear. He did seem to like lurking after all...
She shook her head, glancing down at Jolteon, who trotted along beside her, looking ahead. "You were pretty incredible, Jolteon," she remarked, smirking down at the pokemon with pride, "You've gotten really strong, you know?" Jolteon lifted her head and looked up curiously, her ear flickering a bit at the compliment. "Jol..." she murmured, perhaps in gratitude, or possibly just in acknowledgement. Ajicka wasn't sure, but she smiled, lifting her head, and finally entering the mountain.

The shade of the mountain was rather welcome as Ajicka stepped into the entrance, brushing back some of her hair and sweeping the area with a sharp gaze. Not that she could see much-- her eyesight was hardly adjusted after being in the bright sun. It was a rare moment like this when she wished she had a zubat, but with Jolteon by her side, she wasn't too worried. Whether the electric type as able to adapt to the lower lighting or not, she didn't know, but Deoxys was likely nearby as well, and both had more heightened senses than she did-- so if there was something to see, she was sure they would pick up on it through other means.

Beginning her trek through the cave, Ajicka grimaced, rubbing her chest, then heaving a heavy sigh as she picked up a jog. Her lungs still ached from all that sprinting before, but she still wanted to try and maintain her work out ethic. She would have to stop and try some other exercises... but at least she would hopefully be able to pass through a little faster at this rate. Glancing down, she saw Jolteon pick up a lope beside her, pulling ahead and taking on a steady pace so that she didn't pull too far ahead.
