As Squirt went through taking down the Shuppet one by one, Skia was shocked to see the Pokemon were absorbing into the Lantern. A strange counter could be seen. She couldn't exactly see it very well but the light was getting slightly dimmer every minute that ticked off. After an hour had passed the light was noticeably dimmer. "So we have twenty-three hours to find a new light source Squirt. Keep at it as long as you can. We will switch out if you need." She was collecting all the fainted Shuppets. Squirt took down another one and she followed him up the cold passage.

Squirt took down one last Shuppet and was enveloped in a light. Skia hadn't had any of her Pokemon evolve yet so she wasn't sure what was going on. "Hey Squirt you ok?" she called out. She was surprised to see that it wasn't really Squirt anymore. Instead he had green hands and feet, but also didn't look as if he was about to start crying anymore. "Drizz Drizzle" "Not exactly a lil Squirt anymore are ya? How about Drizzy?" the Pokemon turned away its head as if acting moody, but gave a half cocked. "Right, if you still know the same moves it looks like that was the last Shuppet, but I doubt its the last foe. Lets find a better lit area as quickly as possible"

As they continued up Drizzy could start to see light poking through cracks in the ceiling. It was faint and would probably a lot brighter had there not been snow on the mountain, but this made it easier to battle. Not having to worry about staying right on top of Skia so he could aloowed him to see that there was no more Shuppet. Instead these next ones had a single red light behind a skull shaped mask. From where he grew up he knew exactly what Pokemon this was. Duskull, and from what he remembered they could do more damage than your average Shuppet. Not that it mattered, this new form was still strong enough to cut down any Ghost Type in one shot.

They entered a cavern that seemed to house an underground lake. It was to cold for Skia to swim through so going around was the only option they really had. Relentlessly, the Duskull followed them. Drizzy took down another one more than surprised by this new power from evolution. he did, not like being called Squirt anymore. It felt childish and he was level sixteen now so this new name seemed more fitting.
He used Shadow Claw on a Duskull that popped up in front of him. It dropped and was absorbed into the lantern. Drizzy wasn't really sure why they were getting sucked into the light, but it also wasn't his place to know. he trusted Skia had her reasons

Once the pair had made it to the other side of the lake they climbed the steps. Thankfully there only seemed to be two Pokemon left. One seemed to be a floating Dragon. Drizzy hit it with Shadow Claw and it dropped. Skia not sure what it was threw a Poke Ball before it could be absorbed into the Lantern that was now at least than twenty minutes remaining.It shook three times and clicked letting her know she had caught it.

The last one blocking their path was some sort of strange bug that looked like a husk. Just like the last one Drizzy was able to take it down in one shot with no issue. They ran up the stairs and came out on a snowy peak. Not wanting to risk losing another Pokemon she had never seen Skia tossed another Poke Ball out right before it absorbed into the Lantern, which only had seconds remaining on it. The Ball clicked letting her know it was caught. She picked up the Ball and ran out into the snow, discarding the now unlit lantern.

Skia was surprised to see she was close to the peak of the mountain. There was ruins covered by snow that had seemingly fallen down the cliff in front of her. This was rocky territory. No way she was going to trust these slippery slopes with her Pokemon "Hey Drizzy you did good back there. Couldn't have asked for cleaner battling, but this is a scary looking place so time to go back in your Ball ok?" she pulled out the Poke Ball and opened it extending a light that absorbed the Pokemon inside.
Right now that she had escaped that nightmare it was time to explore and see what these ruins were about. Even though she wore a bomber jacket with a fur collar, it was freezing. Skia, who was not prepared for this kind of cold, decided to just take a few moments to inspect the area. The way a certain pillar had fallen gave her a perfect way to climb up the cliff face. There was parts of it that were icy and would never give her the grip she needed, but the Trainer decided to the Sun Stone in her bag to chip just enough to make it plausible. As she lifted herself up and over the cliff, the girl turned and looked at the landscape. It was breathtaking, she could see all over Sinnoh. Besides every Town and City she could also see the three great Lakes. Skia pulled out her Town Map comparing it to what she could see. Connecting them in her mind she realized that they made a triangle with the peak of the mountain being the center. "Wow that seems a little more than a coincidence." she whispered too herself ready to inspect the ruins now. Three lakes lining up into a triangle might be a coincidence, but the fact that the peak of the mountain lay in the center with ruins covering said peak seemed to show more.
The girl got up and walked to a wall that had some kind of image on it. The image was of a Pokemon she had never seen before with what appeared to be ten-thousand arms reaching out. There was eighteen rectangular chunks missing from the mural. On closer inspection each slot had an image of what she assumed was the Typing of Pokemon. "I wonder," Skia said as she removed the two plates out of her bag. The blue one, she assumed was Water and inserted it in the slot. Perfect fit. Next the light green one, which fit perfectly in the Grass slot. Both plates clicked and lit up briefly before instantly freezing into the wall. Now with sixteen slots remaining she wondered where she could find the others, or what even was the purpose of this.
Skia decided to do some more investigating. The next mural showed the same Pokemon hovering over three other Pokemon. The first of the three Pokemon showed what she could only assume was waves behind it. Inside the shoulder of the two legged Pokemon was the biggest Pearl she had ever seen. The second Pokemon was a four legged Pokemon that had an equally impressive Diamond mounted on its head. Behind it was what could be assumed as some sort of sundial. Checking her Pokegear confirmed that suspicion. The third Pokemon didn't seem to have any legs and was below all of the others. This final Pokemon was sculpted different in the fact that it was made out of some strange sort of metal. The rock behind it seemed to be scorched as if revealing that the Pokemon lived in Darkness. She started from the top and looked them over again, "So if this top Pokemon represents the light, then this bottom Pokemon must represent Darkness. The other two let's see, time? It seems to be a functioning sundial. So this other one, waves?" she shook her head. "Like a ripple in time? That just seems wrong." the girl scratched her head. "I mean it kind of reminds me of the ocean, but maybe I should come back to this one."
There was a third mural, this one had a large triangle with circles at each end. Inside of this giant triangle laid a much smaller triangle. The smaller triangle was more of a pyramid and bulged out. A crack lined the middle running down from the center to each point. "I guess this represents the mountain. Huh, imagine if they built a button behind this that caused the a volcano to explode. Maybe it's a Volcarona. A Volcarona Volcano!" she laughed at the imagery of a giant Volcarona sitting upside fossilized as a mountain only to blown up by a press of a button.
Skia couldn't put her finger on it but this place was definitely more mysterious than she had thought. In addition to the murals a strange text was seen on the tops and bottoms of each once, as well as going up and around the pillars. Was this the language of the ancients that built this place? She wondered before hearing a soft ringing noise that snapped her back to reality."Wind chimes? Up here that woul-" then she saw it. A gold Pokemon with white and red tassels floating right towards her. "Chime to catch you my friend" she chuckled at her joke again before tossing a quick Ball at it, the Ball clicked shut.

Suddenly there was a rumble coming from somewhere on the mountain and the girl heard a voice in her head. "WhO dArEs DiStUrB mY sLuMbEr WiTh SuCh ChIlDiSh HuMoR??" she was surprised to hear someone else's voice actually in her head "Pffft who dares to speak and not show themselves to a child?" she mocked "I aM tHe BeGiNnINg AnD tHe EnD, tHe CrEaToR aNd ThE dEsTrOyEr. OnLy I mAy PaSs JuDgEmEnT.... yOu ArE nOt WoRtHy Of SoLvInG tHeSe PuZzLeS lEaVe NoW oR PeRiSh As AlL dO bEfOrE mE." Skia wasn't sure why but she felt this threat was genuine. It angered her that someone who wouldn't even show their face would tell her such things. "Come out here and fig-" there was a bright flash as she blinked. When the angry Trainer opened her eyes she was no longer at the summit. Instead it appeared that she was somewhere at the base. "Why that big meanie, I woulda Machoked him, hit him with a Machop and shown him who was Machamp." a bolt of lightning struck behind her and she jumped. "Hehe, ok next time then" it was scary but if she could figure out those puzzles then maybe she could battle that thing. Only time would tell and for now she needed to figure out where she was.
