Returning Swablu Simon went over to the vending machines as Dusknoir came out of his ball. Floating next to him he watched to see what Simon was going to pick. When his hand was over the button for a candy bar he felt the aura of disappointment and laughed, "You've been spending too much time with mom,"he explained pressing the button for a granola bar instead. "I was a gift to you from your family. When I was sent back to your home while in the PC she took me out right away just to follow her around.""Oh, should I send you back?""No she is happy that I am here with you." Simon nodded biting into the granola bar.

Throwing the granola wrapper away Simon motioned Dusknoir to follow as they left the Pokecenter. Outside there were signs of the upcoming Halloween event as houses were decorated and a few children ran around wearing Gastly masks. Checking the map Simon saw they were far away from the haunted house and even though he didn't want to do it he returned Dusknoir and went inside the Pokecenter again to get the Psychic's Abra inside to teleport him away to the House, and that's what she did.

At the Pokecenter Simon switched out Persian, Watchog and Altaria out for Koffing, Paras and Slowpoke. Random Pokemon but all on a trial run to be on his final team for an adventure and possibly taking on the Elite Four of Unova. He couldn't do that in Kalos since he still didn't have all of the badges there. Koffing was more if he ever took on Valerie again, he wanted to have a lot of poison Pokemon to choose from. Slowpoke could be the Psychic on his team and then Paras, well she could be another Poison mix. Satisfied he went over to bedrooms since it was later in the day. Stretching out on one of the beds after taking off his shoes Simon sighed. Dusknoir came out in his ball of purple gas form that might look like Gastly only with no features. This form was because he wouldn't be able to fit next to Simon if he was in normal form. Floating around his head the pair would be able to converse if needed.

In the bed Simon reached for his pack and removed his dad's book, not his journal. Looking it over he saw that it was a well read copy of 'The Turn of the Screw'. Thinking on it Simon remembered being eight playing with his mom's Skitty while both of his parents read books. His sisters were already on their own journeys so it was just the three of them and yes, the book was the one his dad was reading, his favorite book. Flipping through the pages he found himself on the front page and choked up a little. Inside was a note, 'Hope you get as much sleepless nights as I had with this book Simon, your father'. Smiling he wiped the tears away and started to read with Dusknoir floating over his head.

Eventually Simon fell asleep so Dusknoir caught the book putting a bookmark inside of it so that Simon didn't lose his place. Setting the book in the bag he pressed his Pokeball and went inside. The next morning Simon woke up stretching checking for the book and finding it in his pack. Touching Dusknoir's Pokeball his thanked his friend for putting it away for him and rose. Eating breakfast he brushed his teeth and walked out into the city heading back towards the Pokemon Mansion. From what he calculated to have a full team of Eevee evolutions he needed two more Eevee. After he had all of them and these latest three evolved he would start training up three Eevee at a time maybe getting them up to late thirties. With that in mind Simon hurried towards the Mansion.

Arriving at the Pokecenter Simon returned Noivern going in to the PC. Trading out Slowbro, Weezing and Parasect Simon decided to train up Spoink, Pidove and Baltoy. Two for their psychic moves and one to add another to his flying team. Checking his Pokenav for information on the area, however there wasn't any Pokemon he wanted around here. He had gathered Black Flutes so he could always go back to the Pokemon mansion in order to catch more Pokemon he wanted. Sitting at one of the tables he cracked open his dad's book again and started to read.

It was a good thing for Simon to be training up Pokemon, it was what his mother actually wanted for him. To understand the joys of being a trainer despite how he always worked so hard to provide for his family. Part of him understood that but there was still the part of him that was driving towards finding out the truth of his father and ghost Pokemon. Having read a bit into his father's journal he was amazed to discover that there weren't just concurrences between ghost Pokemon and Pokemon and people passing on. His father had notes about Rotom as a ghost who was electric in type as well. It wasn't unusual for spirits to take over objects to create ghosts like Shuppet, with a toy, and Pumpkaboo with a pumpkin. Then there were actual ghosts like Duskull and Gastly. So many things to look into so training all sorts of Pokemon was a good idea as well. A ghost bird would be something, not dark like Murkrow but something else. Closing the journal he tucked it away before laying down on one of the beds.

Going outside Simon checked information on his Pokenav, there was a mountain that he could visit and train at called Stark Mountain. Sending out Noivern Simon pointed at it climbing onto his back. "Okay bud we are going to travel here in order to train up our friends." "Noo, noo, vern," he said flapping his powerful wings and taking to the air. Holding on fast Simon pulled the pack close and held on tightly.

Riley let Seul out to walk with her, and decided to let Vanyel out as well. He sat atop the absol, comfortable enough with his arms wrapped in the snowy fur that he didn't mind being so close to Riley. "The gym here has ghost type pokemon, so it would be nice if Vanyel could fight but I don't think he's strong enough at all." Vanyel looked up at Riley, tilting his head way back to see past the cap on his head. He quickly looked away, but Riley had seen intelligence there.

Riley decided to see how well Vanyel could fight, just to see where he was at right now. She walked a little way away from the city, until the mountains were close and they had trees all around them. It was there that Riley spotted a machop; that was a perfect test pokemon! "Okay Vanyel, think you can try fighting?" Vanyel stared out at the machop and then without giving any other signs of acknowledgement he slid off Seul's back and faced the wild pokemon. "Okay Vanyel, we're going to stick to confusion to see how strong your powers are right now, okay?" Vanyel nodded and raised his arms. The machop spotted them and began to prepare itself for battle, but before it could approach Vanyel threw it to the side with psychic powers. The machop scrambled to its feet, shaking its head, and charged but barely did any damage. Vanyel struck one more time and it was over, despite the large level difference between them. Riley threw out a pokeball to catch the fighting type because she didn't have one yet.

Riley nodded appreciatively. Vanyel may be small, but he packed a powerful psychic punch already. She wasn't sure if he would be able to help out with her gym battle, but it couldn't hurt to give Vanyel some good training. Riley replaced his mind plate with a lucky egg and cracked open one of her mysterious incense. The scent that rose out reminded her of the haunted house, which meant it was going to attract ghost types and be a good way for Vanyel to get over an fears he may have. The first ghost to appear was a ghastly, and with just one use of confusion the wild pokemon fainted. This was going to be pretty one sided, Riley thought as she threw a pokeball. Still, she would be able to catch a lot of ghost pokemon, which was good for her pokedex.

The next ghost was a misdrevous. Vanyel dealt with the pokemon swiftly, looking calm even as he was approached by ghost after ghost. Riley let the pokeballs go right to her PC, mainly because catching so many meant she'd be overwhelmed quickly if she didn't.

When the next pokemon creeped forward, Riley took out her pokedex to check what it was. It didn't seem like a ghost type to her. "Woah, a ghost, dark type? That means psychic wont work.." That was tricky. Riley scratched her head for a moment, and then remembered that fairy was super effective. "Use fairy wind, Vanyel!" Riley grinned when she saw that it worked and caught herself a sableye.

Vanyel was getting into a groove, growing comfortable taking orders from Riley as one similar battle after the next kept coming. This was definitely a good decision, since these battles weren't too risky but they helped Vanyel get used to listening to her. The next pokemon that came was called a shuppet, and it was a pure ghost type so Riley knew confusion would work just fine. While Vanyel was fighting Riley's eye was caught by something shining in the ground. She bent and picked up a shiny stone, which got her excited. Could there be other kinds of stones here too? She wanted a fire, water and thunder stone for her new eevees. Riley let Mochi, Zeke, and Niko out of their pokeballs. "Could you three please look for more of these? Maybe different colors?" Riley asked. She showed Mochi and Zeke and let Niko sniff it before they all wandered off, looking for more.
