A city in the region of Sinnoh. Hearthome City is the fifth largest city in the Pokémon world. Hearthome City is home to the Super Contest Hall, where one can take part in the Super Contest, a Gym, the Pokémon Fan Club, and the Poffin House, among other things. Hearthome City is a child-friendly city; there are many families and young mothers living there, some of whom can be seen with prams. Most of the buildings use elevators instead of stairs so that small children and Pokémon can move through the houses. The citizens scrupulously keep their city clean.

After she'd left the city behind her, Riley encountered a Budew and Bidoof. "I suppose a little training for Hubble couldn't hurt," she decided. Zeke weakened the Budew with a Return and Hubble finished it off with Tackle. The Bidoof tackled Hubble in response, wailing as his rough skin hurt it. A repeat Return/Tackle finished it off.

First things first Simon went to the Pokecenter to heal his team and keep Dusknoir's Pokeball on hand. According to the Pokenav they were allowed to have Pokemon out as long as you didn't keep them for battle. Since the small Pokeballs of his team were attached to his belt he put Dusknoir's on the side of his backpack so that if he needed Dusknoir he could just have him out or if he wanted to stretch his...legs? Well he could do that as well. Taking a seat at one of the tables after purchasing a hot chocolate he started to look through his Pokedex to see more information on the City, apparently the gym here was a ghost type gym so something he'd want to check out.

There was a purple blue cloud floating around Simon's head, it was Dusknoir who was in a gaseous form. Considering that he was on the larger side this allowed Dusknoir to be out and not be in the way. "How are the others?" Simon asked hearing Dusknoir in his head. "They are good, happy to be training. However they like being home with your family as well, they don't live forever in a PC. Morgan had someone build a haunted tree house for all your ghost Pokemon to play in, it's quite fun." Simon smiled at that happy that his family was taking care of his friends. Finishing off his drink he threw away the cup and put his backpack on leaving the Pokecenter. On his way back towards the Pokemon Mansion he crossed the path of another trainer. "I'm on my way to the Haunted House but I'm nervous about it," said the younger kid who introduced himself as Matthew. Sending out his starter the battle began, "Swampert the mud fish Pokemon. Its arms are rock hard. With one swing, they can batter down its foe. it makes its nest on beautiful beaches."

Simon would have used Diglett or Geodudette however the ground and rock types would be destroyed by the water and now the grass Pokemon that was before him. If there was another grass or water Pokemon after, "Tangela the vine Pokemon. Many writhing vines cover it, so its true identity remains unknown. Crud yet another water Pokemon in Marill. Regardless Simon returned Shedinja to his side before sending out Diglett. Technically he was using his first round to trade out one Pokemon for another. Matthew nodded understanding that Simon wanted to train up his Pokemon team and switching out the lower level for a higher one made the most sense. The purple and blue haze that was Dusknoir flew around Simon's head. "This is an interesting plan for attack," it said in Simon's head and he replied back still in the head,"Yes but Shedinja is nearly invincible and even if they have a dark or ghost attack he had a focus band as well."

Thanking Matthew for a good battle Simon called Diglett over and healed him up. Now that they were ready to go Simon returned his friend and started towards the gate out of town. Of course he was slightly startled by a pair of kids wearing skeleton costumes. Shaking his head Dusknoir came out to scare them back. The kids were so scared they ran behind a house, after a few minutes an older kid came out. "You think it's nice scaring my friends?" he demanded. "They jumped out trying to scare me first, not my fault Dusknoir scared them." "I don't care I'll show you to pick on us, Pokemon battle time!" Some people were idiots, the younger friends were trying to be mean and now he's at fault for some reason. Sighing and shaking his head Simon sent out Diglett again. The kid, Jessie, sent out "Scatterbug the scatterdust Pokemon. When under attack from bird Pokemon, it spews a poisonous black powder that causes paralysis on contact."

With all that sticky webbing Diglett could barely move so Simon returned him for Shedinja. The next Pokemon was "Delcatty the prim Pokemon. Delcatty prefers to live an unfettered existence in which it can do as it pleases at its own pace. Because this Pokemon eats and sleeps whenever it decides, its daily routines are completely random." Although it looked like it could be a bad time it was a normal Pokemon and Shedinja was good to go.

Since Shedinja was already out and Diglett made an appearance to get some exp Simon figured that they might as well just keep the ball rolling. Looking over at Dusknoir he asked, in his mind, "Why isn't Shedinja talking directly to me?""Shedinja is happy to fight for and with you but it is still weary. The kid's last Pokemon was the steel Pokemon Beldum. It was a real challenge to train one of those up as the only attack that it knew was Take Down which was a decent move up always had a recoil damage. Luckily it wouldn't hurt itself as the normal move wouldn't effect the ghost Pokemon but Shadow Ball would hurt it just as much. The Pokedex entry reads "Beldum the iron ball Pokemon. Beldum keeps itself floating by generating a magnetic force that repels earth's natural magnetism. When it sleeps, this Pokemon anchors itself to a cliff using the hooks on its rear."

The bully returned his defeated Pokemon as Simon returned Shedinja. "I guess now that I think about it the kids have been trying to scare people and that's not very nice. Sorry for their actions." Checking his Pokenav Simon saw that it had been a week since he did the Halloween Trick-or-Treat event. Tomorrow he could try to battle and free the ghost Pokemon again. Going into the Pokecenter he asked the Psychic inside hyping up the event to take him to the Sinnoh Haunted house. Returning Dusknoir he closed his eyes and braced himself as her Xatu teleported him away.

Arriving at the Pokecenter Simon healed his team up before trading out Dugtrio, Rhyhorn and Graveler for Meowth, Patrat and Swablu. The aim was to get Swablu strong enough to become his main flying Pokemon. Sending the little gal out Simon took out the HM for Fly. Putting it in he held the device over Swablu and let it spin. Unlike TMs the HMs didn't break so he tucked it away and looked at Swablu. "I'm going to create a team of flying Pokemon. You, Noivern, Pidgeot, Spearow and two others I haven't decided yet.""Blllu," Smiling Simon held out his hand allowing Swablu to n** at him.
