Ashley stared back dully, watching Zak carefully as he seemed to shift between emotions, his own expression still nonchalant safe for the hints of disappointment that still shown in the form of his slight frown. It did seem to soften a bit though at the remark, an eyebrow quirking just a bit in curious thought. "Ah, only if Anonymous is on them," he remarked casually with a little shrug.
Ashley’s expression went back to its dull, unimpressed look, a hand raising and adjusting his glasses even though such gestures could be enough to cement him to an early grave. "You could, but you have not. And I feel that you will not," he remarked, focusing back on Zak and giving what appeared to be an appraising look, arms folded over his chest again.
"If you had wanted to kill me, mon ami, you would not have wasted time on a cliché maneuver. A criminal you may be, but a killer you are not." He made a ‘tsk’ noise, glancing at the gun again and giving a little shake of his head. "Unless you intent to regal me with ze pathetic spiel of ‘how you are ze best’ in which case you really are a text book villain and I would prefer ze bullet please. But you do not seem bright enough to compose a monologue."
He shook his head again, narrowing a gaze at Zak. "Your gun is disgusting by ze way. Have you no shame?" Now that sounded like a scolding and for once Ashley seemed to showing something other than disappointment; displeasure. Whatever thoughts were whirling through his mind in this instance, they didn’t seem to privy themselves towards survival. Or maybe that was the plan? Certainly something was going on.

Zak continued to stare flatly at Ashley, but after a moment, decided not to deem that with a response. What was up with this guy... His eyes narrowed on the man as he tried to call his bluff, but he didn't tense up, he didn't try and do some showy, assertive gesture, like adjusting his grip, or tightening his finger on the trigger. His expression grew increasingly drab at the insults, and he would have taken his eyes off him to roll them to the sky, if not for the obvious danger that offered. He raised an eyebrow at the... scolding? What? Alright.... that was it.
"It works," he replied back shortly, just barely remembering to keep his Russian drawl from his voice, before he stepped back, and lowered the gun to shoot. Unfortunately... something small had slipped under his peripheral vision, and somehow gotten behind him. So when he moved to step back, keeping his balance so that he was ready for any attempts Ashley might make, he hit the small, fluffy object, and was knocked off guard. His finger still pulled the trigger, but the stumble sent it far off course, and he growled as he shot a short look behind him, easily getting his footing, but then quickly snapping his focus back to Ashley, swinging to bring the weapon back to him.

Ashley gave only the slightest frown at the lack of response from Zak, noting the absence of change in the other man’s posture among other things. Well someone was certainly practiced; too practiced. It made him even more suspicious to be honest; clearly there was more to this man then some petty hacker trying to make a name for themselves win Arceus only knew what. He certainly wasn’t ‘standard’ that was for sure.
And now he was apparently preparing to shoot a fool; which was once again, a bit of over posturing in the Frenchman’s opinion. Luckily, Cassiel had been wandering close, watching the odd commotion with the curiosity one would expect from such a young creature, having managed to quietly stumble his way up behind Zak to sniff at his shoes. Ashley had noted his presence but said nothing; because a man willing to point a gun in your face was probably a man willing to point a gun at a pokemon. Maybe? Maybe.
It was to his advantage though, as Zak ended up misfiring -something that made Ashley bristle, but not in fear- and stumbled over the Gekkit. Cassiel gave a squeak of surprise, scuttling away towards his trainer in fright. Ashley took the instance to duck and snap out, snatching Zak’s wrist and the barrel of the gun before he could fully pull the weapon back, snapping the weapon up and towards the sky while pressuring the wrist to ultimately make him let go. Once the weapon was cleared from Zak’s possession, Ashley took several steps back for distance, careful not to trip over Cassiel himself. Without hesitation he unloaded the weapon of its ammunition. Because what was a gun with no bullets?
"Now that we are done with ze pathetic attempt of posturing," he remarked, dropping the unloaded weapon to the ground with a look of disgust before narrowing a look at Zak, "perchance we can have a conversation like adults? Or would you prefer to continue in your cute attempts to be tough? Would you like to throw a punch? It might be more impressive than your lack luster fire arm skills." Ashley chided, swiping his hands together as though brushing off dirt. At this point, he was prepared for some other form of retaliation, though at least the main threat had been temporarily de-escalated.

Zak snapped his attention to Ashley as he felt him grab his wrist, glaring and yanking his arm back. It was too late, though; reflexively, he released his hold on the gun, and though he moved to grab one of his pokemon, he paused when he noticed the man unloading it. What, no return fire? He rolled his eyes again at the mocking, but just straightened, folding his arms over his chest instead. Fine, if he wanted to talk, they could talk.
"Really, would you stop drawling on like some smart a** idiot? You're confusing rationality with posturing, you under-compensating a**," he lazily replied back. 'Under-compensating' might have seemed less like an insult, but honestly, the guy seemed like the sort who had plenty he could over compensate for. That insinuation showed in Zak's voice, a bit, with how sarcastically he spun the remark, but honestly, he didn't expect Ashley to catch on. In his opinion, the guy seemed phenomenal at not catching on.

Ashley gave Cassiel a quick glance, assuring that the Gekkit was alright before focusing his attention back on Zak, hands casually resting on his hips as he gave the man a flat look. He did quirk an eyebrow at the sarcastic response he’d earned.
"Oh? What a vicious comeback. It must be so difficult for you to think them up, non?" Zak stared Ashley, then rolled his eyes, reaching up to pinch the bridge of his nose, though he stayed acutely aware of his surroundings. Good Arceus, this guy's insults were juvenile. And incessant. Zak wasn't always the most clever with his insults, but he usually at least tried to be, and more often than not, he went with that, than just.... nonstop attacking insults. That seemed to be all this guy was good at, however (though if Zak had checked his phone, he might have seen different). ".... Really, would you shut up? You said you wanted to talk, not try and stupidly talk everything down, right?" Why did this guy even feel the need to constantly insult him, when he'd obviously backed down and was trying to have a conversation? It said something when Zak was the one getting bored of antagonism, but this wasn't even engaging. It was just random insults with no real backbone, as far as he was concerned.
He dropped his hand down as he tried to clarify and continue the conversation in a condescending tone, but his proposition resulted in only a dull stare from the Russian. His gaze slid past Ashley, then lifted up, before he made a gesture, and suddenly, a blizzard rushed down the street at them. The moment it got close, he moved, not fast, just to pass Ashley, sweeping down to grab his gun, and the magazine if Ashley had dropped it, and continue back towards his things. Really, this was just all so... unappetizing. He might as well just return to his training and ignore the guy, or at least let his pokemon handle him.

Ashley just quirked an eyebrow of his own, watching Zak and his reactions. Boy, someone was certainly sensitive, weren’t they? It was humorous really, had Zak not just some time before been praising himself like he was some superior entity for successfully hacking Interpol? But when the shoe was on the other foot… well it was clear to Ashley; the man was terribly ego driven.
The French man returned the dull stare he earned from his admonishments, expression hardening at the sudden gesture and then burst of cold that slammed down the street in their direction. Immediately Ashley stepped back and out of the way of the brunt of the assault, narrowing a look at Zak as he went to retrieve the gun and ammunition. Really? Really? So that was how it was how it was going to be.
He watched as Zak began to head away and adjusted his glasses, before promptly pulling his gun from his holster and firing a shot that would’ve grazed the side of Zak’s face and maybe nicked an ear if he had been unfortunate enough. Ashley remained poised, shifting the gun ever so slightly instead to aim for a proper head shot. "I advise you not to take another step." His tone wasn't condescending but just straightforward, like a suggestion. Because honestly, if he had to, he would put a bullet in this man and be done with it. Troublesome as that would be.

Zak stopped when the shot echoed out, but flinched when he felt a sting against his face, slapping a hand up over it. He snapped his head around to glare back at Ashley, eyes narrowed, though he didn't look exactly worried. Just pissed off. "Good to know you're at least taking this seriously," he muttered, dropping his hand from the burn mark. A sharper pain from his ear started to sear into his awareness, but he left it alone, his focus on Ashley.
He wasn't the only one-- Rufflet suddenly swept down, furious at the assault on his trainer, to try and dislodge Ashley's gun. For once, though, Zak didn't try and take advantage of it; he adjusted his posture slightly to better watch the man, but he didn't make any quick movements. He just stared, and folded his arms over his chest. "So, what's next, 'mon ami'?" he drawled.

Ashley’s expression remained resolute at Zak’s comment, gun still directed at the opposing man without hints of dropping it. He didn’t seem much phased by the suggestion, though his attention only shifted slightly at the sound of the air above moving fast, catching the sight of a Rufflet zooming down at him.
Now Ashley had never shot a pokemon and had no real intention to do so in this situation, even though it certainly would’ve been a better option. If the man wanted to put his pokemon in danger, well that was certainly no skin off his nose. But, he couldn’t (immediately anyways) blame the creature for acting on it’s instinct. He side-stepped and ducked, though kept his gaze and gun on Zak before unleashing Alphonse, the Audino blinking and looking immediately flat at the display he was presented with. Ashley straightened and resumed his previous stance, giving only a little head jerk in the direction of the bird.
"Alphonse," the remark was curt and the mega seemed to know what was expected of him, turning his attention to the outraged bird and promptly dispensing a chilling blizzard of his own to ward it away. Not a challenge, but frosted feathers were certainly deterrent right?
With that assault handled, for now, Ashley stared at Zak a moment at the inquiry, the only shift in an otherwise flat expression being a slight eyebrow quirk. "Drop ze gun and get on your knees. " He commented in a rather demanding tone, like an interrogator at work. Not that he expected Zak to follow through but well… then there were other things he could do to get answers.

Zak glanced over as the man released a pokemon, but didn't seem too fazed by the attack on his pokemon. Rufflet, however, looked true to his name -- ruffled -- and perched on a nearby roof, glaring angrily at the audino as he seemed to try and determine how to get around him. For now, though, he seemed to settle on keeping his distance, allowing the trainers to proceed, much to his own chagrin.
Zak drifted a lazy stare back towards Ashe, looking non too impressed with the command, but lifted his hands and dropped the gun. "Kinky," he drawled, getting to his knees, "You going to arrest me, too, officer?" The sarcasm was clear enough in his voice, despite keeping a dead, steady tone. He looked about as engaged as Ashley had when he'd had him at gun point, though he was more compliant with playing along.

Ashley watched a moment as Zak met the demands, quirking an eyebrow and giving the slightest hint of a smirk. "Cute." He remarked, still trailing the gun on the man as he stepped forward to kick the gun back and away as a safety precaution, focusing back on Zak once the task was done. "You would not last a minute in jail, though."
Ashley was quite for a moment, silently observing. He could hear Alphonse shuffling just behind, maintaining watch in the event the Rufflet or other lingering individuals attempted something. Zak didn't visibly show a reaction, initially, when he saw Ashley's lip curl, but inwardly, he couldn't help but smirk himself. That became a bit more visible at the man's short remark, and it turned into a lazy, uncaring grin at his assumption. "Oh, I don't know. I think I'd do fine. I might even like it," he drawled back confidently. He wasn't going to add more, but really, that wasn't him boasting; he wasn't too bothered at the idea of going to jail. And it was a bit of a realization for him to find that, too; when he was younger, he definitely would have avoided the idea at all costs, but now, well... perhaps he'd gotten over confident, or maybe, at the moment, he was just especially apathetic, but from what he heard, that was just a pack-place, with guys fighting to be alpha and intimidating others into leaving them the ******** alone. Which was pretty much what he did all through highschool, and now that he had actual training, it felt especially feasible that he might do fine in there.
He met Ashley's gaze evenly, still not wavering under the point of the gun. Eventually, he folded his hands behind his head, to rest them a bit from being held up. "I already told you. The people I work for," he replied drably, as if this was obvious, "And as I told you then, this is not a good idea. For your sake. I don't think anyone was planning to pursue you now, but if you keep up this insistence, they may not have a choice." Again, he wasn't drawling his voice to sound egotistical or blase, his voice was just flat, factual, almost in a sincere warning. But, ti iwasn't. He honestly didn't care what happened to the guy. He imagined Imperium would take care of him, and, hopefully, help out a bit here, if anyone were to check in on him, telepathically or otherwise, and see what was going on. Not that he couldn't get out of this himself.

- Ashley tilted his head a bit at the response Zak gave, eyeing him with a sort of inquisitive gaze at the display of confidence. There was nothing to his expression that indicated he was surprised or disturbed by this playful admission as other individuals might be, but instead gave another slight smirk and a shrug of his shoulders in a sort of conceding admission. "Well if you do not, someone certainly will." He wasn’t hear to convince this man otherwise or even cared to do so. He had a job and that’s what he was here for.
The Frenchman listened to the response, a curt frown appearing on his face. While he might’ve maintained his composure, it was fairly evident from the shift that he did not believe Zak. He wasn’t a supporter of simple ‘coincidences’ and he wasn’t about to do so in this situation. At the… warning? It sounded kind of like a warning, but at this point Ashley would’ve believed otherwise, he just quirked an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed. "Let them come, mon ami, I have a job to do. And I will do it," he motioned with the gun slightly, "So I will give you one last try to tell ze truth. Who did you meet today? And if you really are nothing more than a hacking grunt for your company, then who do they work for?" He inquired, tone still steady but with a hint of stern. Now that was a response Zak could appreciate. His lips curled up into a grin, and he tilted his head, raising an eyebrow at Ashley's remark, as if quietly challenging the idea that anyone else would be able to take that role. He didn't say it, of course, but his features did; not in an overly egotistical, challenging way, but more in wry amusement. He couldn't help but appreciate a witty remark, after all.

Ashley just watched in silence as his second inquiry was met with continued resistance. Well, maybe not entirely resistance; he did note that Zak seemed, even if it was briefly, confused by the line of questioning concerning if he’d met anyone. Perchance then, he was wrong? That or someone else was wrong regarding the location of his intended target. That was also a possibility.
Still though, that didn’t eliminate the fact that the man was actively avoiding answering any of his inquiries. So, he possibly didn’t meet anyone; he did work with some organization who had opted to hack Interpol. And well, that was information he could use. Ashley’s head tilted to a bit, giving Zak a bit of a look that seemed as though he was honestly considering the request.
"Mm," he murmured in thoughtful tone, raising his free hand to adjust his glasses again. "… of course. How rude of me," he finally answered with a little nod, dropping his hand again to his side, gaze narrowing just a bit in a tactical manner. "Go right ahead. In fact, please," he started before promptly stepping forward and pistol-whipping Zak in the side of the head once his hands had dropped before immediately refocusing the gun on the man, "feel free to relax. Maybe it will help you answer my questions?" He took a step back after the assault, looking not at all phased for the action. "So when you are ready, I would appreciate an answer."
