"But ah, here, lemme help." Gently he picked her up and moved her aside, the Torchic giving a surprised chirp at the action. He grinned and gave her a gentle little tap on the beak. "No offense chickee but I think we’ll be here a while if you’ve got to digf to get your head in that hole." He remarked, dropping to a knee and reaching his arm in the hole to feel around. He was a little leery about doing this to be honest; what if something bit him? He’d need shots or some business. Luckily, nothing of the sort happened and instead he produced a blue colored plastic egg.
"See! A lot quicker~" he chimed, wiggling the thing in front of the bird before getting to his feet. Susie seemed rather ecstatic, chirping happily, and summoning a rather surprised looking Melody over. Fabian just grinned and handed her the egg, tagging along as she put it away and lead the way back towards Veilstone.

.... He hadn't been flying in a long time... So much teleportation just made you adjust to immediate arrival. Flying was an experience, though. One he'd just been as used to, when he did it more often, but now it was.... different, almost knew again. Braviary didn't seem bothered in the least with this new task; in fact, he seemed to relish in the opportunity to stretch his wings, show off, tear through the air, and get his energy out. It was no trouble staying on, but the feel of the large bird moving under him, the wind whipping around him, mixed with the tangle of thoughts and feelings he'd been experiencing lately. Zak grimaced against the sentimental sensations and glanced down at the ground passing under them. Braviary was fast-- it wouldn't take them long to get there, and hopefully, not long to get from there to Iccirus, once he'd defeated Wake.
He turned his focus again, letting his thoughts press forward, before clearing them with a sharp twist of his head as they landed. Sliding off the bird, he came around, reaching a hand up to its face. Braviary jerked back, eyes wide in confusion at what seemed to be a soft gesture. He didn't move back when Zak's hand followed, eying his trainer suspiciously as his faingers touched on his beak. Zak smirked. "Not bad," he remarked, before shaking the large bird's head with a half grin. Braviary jerked back, out of his reach, and snapped threateningly at his hand. It only made Zak grin more, before he recalled the large bird, and let Boo out, turning to head for the gym.

A frown appeared on Zak's face and his brow creased as Boo floated obnoxiously close, staring intently at him. He paused on his path to the gym. "Vh-- What?" he demanded, his accent lightened, but not completely gone. She cooed, before sweeping down, and bumping against one of his pokeballs. He looked down, and only had a split second to recognize who's it was, before it burst open, releasing the rotom. He rolled his eyes and continued walking, ignoring the two as Boo quickly cuddled up to Meebus, making small happy sounds.
The rotom looked down at her with his usual passive, emotionless appearance, floating still a moment, before turning to follow his trainer. "Zak-hav, have you considered--""Whatever it is, Meebus, I don't want to hear it," the Russian interrupted with a drawl, his accent removed for the time being. The rotom stopped, briefly, before resuming, listening. "I need to focus on what's coming up," he finished, hoping the finality in his tone would put an end to the rotom's interference. Feeling the intensity of the pokemon's stare, however, he had a distinct impression this wasn't the end of whatever conversation he was trying to have. The subject was dropped for the time being, however, and Zak was able to make his way into the gym peacefully, readying a challenge as he entered.

Gym Leader Crasher Wake
Wake grinned even though he had lost, letting out a hearty laugh. "Wahahaha!!! Your pokemon are strong! I'll give you that." Wake nodded, moving across the arena to hand over Zak's badge and items. "I wonder how well they'd do in the ring with me. Now that would be quite a show!" He seemed to actually be considering such a thing, but ultimately didn't push the subject, instead giving Zak a hearty clap on the back. "I'll look forward to a rematch sometime! Good luck." And with that enthusiastic response, he left to go heal up his pokemon.

Getting Boo to fight had been.... remarkably difficult. It was likely hilarious, from an outside perspective, and Zak himself would have laughed if it hadn't been him shoving the ghost pokemon onto the battle field. Trying, rather-- she would phase through him and try and flee and dart around. It took Meebus cutting off her escape and nudging her forward, for her to even face the first opponent, and she visibly shook as she faced off with it. Apparently, having never battled made a gym battle incredibly intimidating. And perhaps that should have been blindingly obvious, but Zak didn't exactly care. At least the yawn seemed to ease her nerves.... but knowing it would also put her under, Zak recalled her temporarily, and sent out Marshtomp instead, the pokemon doing a little dance, and sticking its tongue out at its same-typed opponent.
Overall, the battle wasn't too difficult, and Boo hardly had to battle at all, which was perhaps for the best. Zak stared, unimpressed, at Wake, and grimaced as he received a slap on the shoulder, lurching a bit with the movement. The glare he gave the man's back suggested that if he had Meebus' electricity capabilities, the gym leader would be receiving a sharp thunderbolt, but....
Shaking his head, Zak turned on his heel and strode out, healing up his pokemon, and releasing Boo again, the pokemon drifting, wide-eyed, to hover close to Meebus, still shell shocked from her experience. Whatever. She'd get over it, once they got to Icirrus.
