Pastoria City is a city in the region of Sinnoh. It is also the home of Sinnoh region's Safari Zone. It is a city on the edge of a giant swamp, known as the Great Marsh. The marsh was once part of the sea, which drained away over time leaving the marshland. There are rare Pokémon only found in the swamps. The Great Marsh keeps the weather cool in the summertime, making it an ideal town for Water Pokémon. Croagunk is one of the rare Pokémon that can be found in the swamp, so it is the city's official mascot.

Pastoria's gym was...water type. Maybe a little bit of ground or poison mixed in. Ground might be a problem, so she'd have to be careful with Niko. Since she didn't really feel like there was much else to do to prepare, Riley went ahead and entered the gym. I wonder if maybe I should've trained more first... At the very least, this would be a chance for her to test herself. She wasn't sure how long she needed to keep going, or how much stronger she needed to get, but for now this was all she could think of to do.

Crasher Wake gave another loud, boisterous laugh, even as he was defeated. "Well whad'ya know, the gal's got some fight in her!" Wake grinned, returning his Sharpedo to it's pokeball and meeting Riley on the other side of his arena. "Here you go, the Fen Badge, a symbol of your spirit in battle. Take it with pride!" He clapped her on the back, though perhaps harder than he realized; the large man had little to no recognition of his strength sometimes outside of the wrestling ring. "Oh! Haha and before I forget, this is a little gift from me." Wake handed Riley a blue tinted TM, specifically TM 55, which taught the move Brine to any pokemon compatible with it.

Riley twisted her face up. Was it really that surprising that she'd won? Just 'cuz she was little didn't mean she couldn't fight... Oh well. Crasher Wake probably wasn't used to losing too much anyways, so it would be a surprise for anyone to put up a fight. Maybe.
Despite all this mumbo jumbo rolling around in her brain, Riley was happy to have won. Zeke and Niko made a pretty good team for this place, anyways. "Thanks!" she grinned as the badge fell into her hand. This is proof that I've gotten stronger. Now I- A hand clapped her on the back, sending her stumbling forward. "A...ha ha, thanks." Riley stepped out of the gym with a pep to her step. That had seemed easier than Maylene somehow, but now that she thought about it Riley realized that may have been because of Niko and Zeke's type advantages. Type advantage is really important, isn't it? She'd known to keep it in mind before, but maybe she should be paying closer attention.

Riley made her way back to the pokemon center to get Zeke, Niko and Seul healed. While she waited she took a look at a map, since it helped her to focus her thoughts on what to do next. her eyes strayed towards Twinleaf Town and a pang went through her stomach. After everything that had happened, Nima and and Noel stolen and her fighting so many battles without even a word home. "Mmmmaybe not..." Riley heaved a sigh when Nurse Joy came to the counter with her pokemon. Riley just didn't want to deal with talking to her parents right now. At first, it had been because she wanted to wait until she had Nima and Noel back, but as it went longer and longer it became more because she felt guilty. Riley put all of her pokeballs away except for one: Zeke's. When she got outside, she let him out immediately. "We're going back to Hearthome, okay buddy?" She placed a hand on his side for a moment, feeling his body shifting under her as he flapped to keep in the air. After a moment Zeke got impatient and zipped under her, nearly flooring his trainer to get her to give him an endless hug, aka getting on his back so he could fly.
