It was like standing in the middle of the desert at mid-day. But just as quickly as the heat rose, it died down once more, the AC of the gym kicking in and pushing out cool air. Mila turned to face Ko nodding. The blonde tossed the second Full Restore to the Delphox, who quickly issued the item over her frazzled fur. She rose with a new found strength, once more taking stance. The heat around her died down, the ability deactivated.Perhaps it was time to focus on lower their defenses instead?

This battle was certainly taking it's toll on her. It was back and forth, only because she had so many Full Restores. Volkner seemingly relied heavily on his status conditions. Paralysis, Freeze, Confusion.... Thankfully she got her own; Burn. Motioning forward, she called to Mila after the fox staggered back from another Signal Beam. "Close your eyes and try for a Psychic!" Mila was stuck with Confusion, but luckily, she was coherent enough to understand Ko's words. Closing her eyes she used her mind's eye to pinpoint the Electrode. Flicking her wrist she tossed a powerful wave of Psychic energy towards the upside-down Pokeball.

Volkner and his pokemon were familiar with commonly used moves like this one. So by now his pokemon knew how best to take the impact. Rather then stand against the attack the sphere pokemon rolled backwards absorbing the impact better. "Discharge, this rounds almost over." Volkner was standing rather then seat.. He was enjoying the battle now. He'd not been pushed this hard in some time.
"Mila hit it again with Psychic!" Avikna called out, after seeing the Discharge attack once more. Mila fought through her paralyzed state to once more whip a powerful pulse of psychic energy at the orb-shaped Pokemon. She fell to a knee once more, huffing in pain.... This was it, even if she couldn't attack, she could tell... the Electrode was on it's last leg.

Either way, that burn saved this from being even longer and tedious. So I can't hate the dice that much. Anyway,. safe to say the Electrode will faint to Burn damage, so you can have Volkner send out his next Pokemon (Assume Mila is paralyzed) and just attack. "I think we've played around enough miss Tavenwood. Return." Volkner, amused by the battle and how far Kotsena was willing to go to win opted that now was the best time to take the training wheels off and really spark this match into gear. His lazy nature now over taken over by his renewed vigor for battle. "Go Lanturn." He wasn't willing to simply allow his Electrode to fall in battle from a burn, not yet anyway. He had a better plain in store then that. He'd been saving lanturn until the late game when the Delphox would be to tired and bruised from a hard fought battle only to now face a foe with a clear and divisive advantage. He wanted to push Kotensa's pokemon into a state of shock and mental despair. A gym battle after all was as much about skill and timing as it was about having the biggest of two guns. He held the advantage and had no intentions of simply handing her a win without it being earned.
Ko was speechles, but she shouldn't of been that surprised. He wasn't going to let this end that easily... though she did feel sorry for the burned Electrode. Whatever the case, Mila's new foe wasn't one she wanted to take lightly. Being a Water-type this Lanturn was Mila's worse nightmare.... she should switch, but she'd give Volkner an opening, instead she motioned forward, Mila already at the read. "Hurricane it!" It would end with the same result, barely even a breeze, but hopefully, this time.... she'd get the confusion. She just hoped it would be in her favor. For after Mila attacked she fell to a knee, muscles locked from the paralysis.

Seeing the shock and strain of the battle in both the pokemon and its trainers eyes Volkner knew he was braking them both, he could win by that along. He hadn't wanted to lose electrode to the Delphox in a trade off because out of the three pokemon he knew Kotensa had currently on her team the electrode held a move type advantage over them all. He would save the pokemon and sneak off another devastating attack later when she might other wise hold the advantage. Caught off guard as lanturn began flopping about, confused by the tiny breeze Volkner face palmed a himself somewhat shamed of the pokemons failure to over come such a meager side effect. "Really Lantern, guess it can't be help. Just work through it, and Surf that Fox off my field."
Watching Mila fall to the ground in pain, it made Ko angry. Then it hit her.... Volkner was doing this on purpose. Of course she knew Gym leaders put all their effort into beating their challengers. But this wasn't just another battle... Sunyshore was Ko's Hometown, the place were she was born and raised.... the place she returned to when she'd lost everything. This was more then a battle, it was a trial... and she was going to lose, she was aware of that... still, she couldn't go and show herself to be some weakling... despite using those Full restores to struggle and stay a float, she had already knocked out two of his Pokemon, save the Electrode was withdrawn and not defeated.. one more turn out of it's ball and it would faint. This Lanturn.... she didn't have anything on her team that could really harm it... but she could dwindle down it's energy little by little. "Mila! I know you can do this! Take that tidal wave like a champion and use Psychic!" The fox rose from her spot, wand held out. She closed her eyes, focusing on the Lanturn's body.
As the wave of water crashed into her, the fox mustered all her energy to push out, getting a bit damp, she managed to redirect most of the attack right back at the electric fish. When the water fell, she was back on a knee, her paws pressing firmly on the ground before her. No matter what she was down for the count. Looking back at Ko for a moment she struggled back to her feet. Might as well make it seem like she still had some fight in her.

Volkent watched as the wave crashed into the Delphox who as if in bold defiance of her inevitable defeat blasted the Fish with psychic strike. Lantarn didn't seem overly phased by it but Volkner knew the repercussions of the attacks side effects how what it would mean if to many such effects began stacking together. It had been part of why he'd saved electrode, aside from the burn. the burn would be its down fall but those lose in his special defense weren't helping. "Again Lanturn." Fighting through the confusion the fish pokemon launched another title wave at the fox.
Seeing Mila faint, was hard. But it had to be done. She couldn't risk switching out and having a free hit taken upon her Pokemon, Mila knew this and with a grin she fell onto her back, clutching her wand close to her chest. Ko returned the fallen Fox, sizing up her options. Uth was ready to go, but not against this thing... a water-type, it likely knew an Ice-type move like the Electrode. She'd thought about it, and there was one other threat on his team... The Luxray. Ice Fang was weaker than Ice Beam, but that didn't change the fact that Uth was 4 times weak to ice-type moves. She bit her lip... why were Ground-types all weak to ice. It was frustrating, but in the end she found her choosen champion to continue the battle. Viska. "Viska, ready a Moonblast!" Sizing up his new target Volkner considered a repeat of the same old same old, discharge then Signal beam. But it was to expected of him at this point. If Kotensa was switching into a weaker combatant it was because she had a strategy. Best to throw a wrench into the engine before that plane toke off. "Ice, beam." To his utter shock and awe the Psychic type froze on the first attack. What luck. "Again." Built up a solid container and beat this one before it could do anything to fight back, that was the new plan now.
Sure enough, the fish launched it's Ice-type attack ,straight for Viska. And as her luck seemed to be going, it froze Viska solid. The built up moon blast attack vanished, like a balloon being popped with a needle. "Viska!" Ko stepped forward, fist tightening again. This was troublesome, she was a sitting Ducklett now. She had to do it. Rushing forward, the blonde quickly spritzed a Full restore over Viska, the liquid ate away at the ice and eventually reached the psychic-type inside so she could break the ice away herself. She quickly turned and sent Ko back towards the challenger's corner while another Ice Beam struck her.

Qungra's cheering had stopped watching the battle unfold before them. Ohmarow was again impressed by the power of Ko's pokemon. This was the first time seeing Mila in a battle and even though she was clearly out matched for power she was easily holding her own. In fact she was gaining ground steadily. This was all good practice for him as well. It gave him a chance to study's her battle style and pokemon closer then just a few wild pokemon battles. Ko was pretty blunt and to the point. Were as Volkner seemed to be setting up for something or pressing for some advantage that never came. Nether was better then the other yet and he feared that if Ko didn't take the lead again and soon she'd find the next few rounds of battle to be just as hard and mentally taxing if not harder. Then Volkner pulled out another ace of spades with the taunt. He jumped to his feet fist clinched. Volkner had taken her well earned ground nearly totally back with perfect timing. "Come on Ko ! Get it in gear !" He yelled wanting to push her harder. "You've got this !"
