Professor Gene returned his fainted Dustox and sent out the next Pokemon, Tirtouga. The fossil turtle looked a little out of place, looking like he'd fare a lot better in water. Suddenly the Pokemon rose a bit into the air. This was how water Pokemon battled out of water which was an interesting thing however it didn't meant that they couldn't be hurt by ground moves just that they could survive out of water. With a flick of his wrist the fainted fossil was returned as his final Pokemon came out, Florges. This was perfect for Koffing however he was pretty weak HP wise right now. Searching through his bag Simon saw super potions which would only heal one hundred. Sighing he went ahead and used a full restore bringing him all the way up to his max HP because he wanted to only use Koffing this battle.

The battle was a great one for Koffing as the poisonous sludge move really hurt the fairy Pokemon. She did a beautiful dance scattering petals all over the place however as strong poison was against fairy and grass, grass was weak to poison. As his Pokemon fainted Professor Gene seemed to calm down, using a handkerchief to dab at his brow. "That was quite fun, sorry I yelled at you Ian and Ellie. You too my boy, I should have gotten so excited. My name is Professor Gene and I am gathering what information I can about all the Legendary Pokemon here in Sinnoh. These are my students slash aids." After having a great discussion about Giratina and Distortion World the pair exchanged numbers and parted ways with Simon making his way back towards the exit. Koffing floated next to Simon as he walked, explaining why meeting Professor Gene was a great thing. Whenever he or the professor found Giratina then they would contact each other so that they could see the legendary ghost Pokemon. As they got to the end of the tunnel before they could get out a bug catcher came in and spotted them and soon they were wrapped up in another battle. His first Pokemon was, "Scyther the mantis Pokemon. It tears and shreds prey with its wickedly sharp scythes. It very rarely spreads its wings to fly." Even though Koffing was out Simon wanted to get through the battle quickly so he traded Koffing out for Noivern.

Rushing forward it attempted to strike up at Noivern however another flying blast of hurricane sent it crashing back. The hurricane attack did its job before the bug catcher returned his defeated Pokemon.

The final Pokemon was an "Accelgor the shell out Pokemon. When its body dries out, it weakens. So, to prevent dehydration, it wraps itself in many layers of thing membrane." Which Simon actually thought looked pretty cool but he also knew where it came from. It was one of those Pokemon that needed to be traded under unique situations, such situations that Simon didn't want to go through in order to get one. Mostly because he had to give up his Pokemon for another one just to get both to evolve. Returning to the battle Simon ordered Noivern to use the flying attack to win the battle.

With the battle complete Simon thanked the bug catcher and sent out Koffing. The kid was confused until Koffing started to glow white. The other trainer clapped as Koffing evolved into "Weezing, the poison gas Pokemon. Weezing alternately shrinks and inflates its twin bodies to mix together toxic gases inside. The more the gases are mixed, the more powerful the toxins become. The Pokemon also becomes more putrid." Hugging Weezing as he released some gas that wasn't poisonous to Simon or the other trainer at least not right now Weezing smiled, happy to be this strong. Keeping him and Parasect in the team until Slowpoke evolved they would continue to get stronger still.

A few minutes after departing from the bug catcher and healing up his friends Simon ran across a dragon trainer who was lost in the confusing tunnels. Offering to show her the way out he led her to the exit. Once outside she asked if he wanted a battle as a thank you and Simon agreed to it wanting to get more experience for Slowpoke. The trainer, Dani, told him that it would be four on four because she needed to make sure her flying Pokemon didn't faint getting her stuck here. Agreeing they started the battle with Slowpoke first and for her "Vibrava the vibration Pokemon. To make prey faint, Vibrava generates ultrasonic waves by vigorously making its two wings vibrate. This Pokemon's ultrasonic waves are so powerful, they can bring on headaches in people." Switching Slowpoke out for Noivern the battle really started up.

Dani's next Pokemon was Shelgon, it looked like she wasn't just using dragon Pokemon but second stage Pokemon. Noivern hovered there flapping his wings watching the Shelgon as it came out and stomped his feet getting ready to go. Dani was quite impressed at how well trained Noivern was. Simon thanked her telling her that he had Noivern since he was a Noibat. Stating it was the same for all her Pokemon, raised from the first stage up, she ordered Shelgon to attack as Simon did the same with Noivern.

As Shelgon fell to the side Dani returned him looking over at Simon asking if this was how it was going to go and Simon smiled nodding. Noivern avoided the attack by pulling in his wings and twirling to get pass the Pokemon then opened his wings to quickly stop then fire off another dragon pulse.

Her last Pokemon was Fraxure which Noivern just hovered above it preventing the smaller Pokemon from attacking it. Slowpoke peeked out from behind Simon's legs to watch as Noivern blasted Fraxure knocking her out. Thanking Simon for the battle and the escape from the tunnels Dani returned her fainted Pokemon before sending out a Pidgeot which she climbed up on and flew off. Returning Noivern after healing him up Simon looked down at Slowpoke. "So right now we found four black flutes which will help out a lot, should we look for more or no?" "Poke, slooo." Simon smiled and returned his friend, not sure if he even understood.

Walking back over to where he had discovered the first black flute he looked around to see if there were any others. That was when he got caught in the sight of line of a woman in robes that looked like a psychic from the haunted house except with a crazed look in her eyes. "You. Me. Battle." she said sending out "Shedinja the shed Pokemon. A most peculiar Pokemon that somehow appears in a Poke Ball when a Nincada evolves." Simon knew that trick though and sent out Slowpoke for Dusknoir.
