Inside Turnback Cave is a mystery of itself. Named for the strange phenomenon where if one turns back and heads the way one came from, you find yourself immediately at the entrance, no matter how far you traveled into the cave. The Distortion World's effects on this cave don't end there, however, sometimes it is best to find out for oneself what mysteries await...

Arriving in the entrance Simon returned Noivern and entered the cave. An added bonus was that he might find a Chingling here, one of those baby Pokemon. For now he sent Slowpoke out to teach him Surf which was a very handy water move. Setting the incense jar down before lighting it he sent Dusknoir out. "We're going to get Slowpoke up to twenty as well then Paras," he explained. Dusknoir nodded in understanding and they were about to walk deeper into the cave when Slowpoke said "Poke.""He said thanks for the new move." "That was ten minutes ago, oh yeah." Before he could light the incense a wild Bronzong attacked and luckily Dusknoir's ghost moves were super effective.

With that Pokemon defeated Simon knelt to try to light it again when another wild Pokemon appeared but this one was different, he felt the shift in Dusknoir's mood. Looking up he saw a wild Duskull. "I'm going to catch it," Simon called out causing Dusknoir to look at him. "I want a Duskull but keep it as one, never evolving it and it might be on my team for the Elite Four. I was thinking a sleep moveset." Dusknoir looked through his mind and nodded thinking it could work. "Duskull the requiem Pokemon. Duskull wanders lost among the deep darkness of midnight. There is an oft-told admonishment given to misbehaving children that this Pokemon will spirit away bad children who earn scolding from their mothers." Once again ghost moves were super effective against ghosts so another shadow punch knocked it out so Simon could catch it.

Healing Dusknoir up Simon sighed looking around, "Okay let's go ahead and let Slowpoke fight some fighting Pokemon while I look into Giratina." His thought was cut off as another Duskull appeared through the wall. "I can't catch all of them,"Simon said. "I know, I just wish we could." Simon smiled at his best friend's intention to take care of the lower level stages and knew he would feel the same with other Ghost Pokemon as well. Nodding at his friend as he unleashed a shadow punch to knock it out.

Once again healing Dusknoir up for the small amount of damage he took Simon actually lit the incense this time. Watching the smoke waft into the air Simon heard a gong sound as another wild Bronzong appeared. Chuckling Simon thought this was great for Slowpoke but he was hoping for fighting Pokemon that were more the lower level Pokemon's well level and a Chingling. Maybe just one so he could catch it then let Dusknoir watch Slowpoke and Paras while he explored the small cave a bit.

This was the best place to train up his ghost Pokemon as all the Pokemon in this cave seemed to be weak to ghost moves. Sadly he already had a Lunatone otherwise he could catch one as it appeared. The insurgence of these stronger Pokemon were scaring away the fighting Pokemon so Dusknoir needed to take these out before he could look for any details about Giratina or a black flute. The Lunatone kept using Cosmic power to increase its defense but it wasn't enough as a pair of shadow punches took it out.

A second Lunatone appeared which was still good for the experience but was getting in the way of his study. From a look of the small cave there wouldn't be much to see by standing here and defending Slowpoke. When it went back to the incense Dusknoir could watch over them while battling. As Dusknoir attacked and defeated this Lunatone it was time to explore. Telling Dusknoir that he was going to be right there and if they needed him he would be in the middle where Giratina was said to have appeared once upon a time.

As another Tyrogue appeared to battle Slowpoke Simon smiled at his friends and moved to sit on the ground in the center. Placing his hand flat on the ground where Giratina was said to have appeared Simon tried to see if there was anything left behind. Nothing residual was around here except the smallest hint of a symbol. Using the photo app Simon took a picture of it getting as zoomed in as possible to make sure he got it then cleared it up so that he could make out the burned circle in the ground. It wasn't just in the dirt as Simon moved it around, it was burned into the ground. Looking behind his shoulder he saw Slowpoke using his psychic move on the fighting Pokemon, defeating it right away before any battle damage could be done to Slowpoke so that Simon didn't need to heal him.

Another Tyrogue appeared and was defeated as Simon removed his father's journal before opening it and turning it upside down. This way he too could write in it and on the back cover 'Simon Davis' notes on Ghosts' he wrote then notated the time and date. Then he wrote where they were and drew the symbol on the page as well. Slipping it away when it was done he rose and went to one of the signs that were outside of the room. There were four doors and lots of signs telling him how to get here because any other direction could get you lost for a long time. In a way it worked like some had described distortion world. However there were other rumors about how the laws of gravity didn't work there and you could walk on the ceiling, the walls, even walk up waterfalls instead of surfing up it.

While Dusknoir was watching over Slowpoke's battle Simon took note of some of the design on the walls. They were faint and honestly he didn't want to bother it without a brush of some sort to be gently with the paint or whatever it was. Instead of disturbing the symbols Simon took pictures of it. The symbols weren't in the Unown code of other places, like Ruins of Alpha. This was more interesting so Simon made sure that he got them all down in the correct order. There didn't seem to be an answer or code in there unless he took the time to site down and really research it. Looking over at Slowpoke Simon looked back at his Pokenav showing that he had grown to level twenty. Standing up and putting his things away Simon went over, thanking Dusknoir and returning Slowpoke for Paras.

Paras was going to be a bit harder to train up, at least against the fighting Pokemon as the attacks weren't that strong just yet. Watching her battle the fighting Pokemon she could only use scratch because fighting Pokemon were resistant against bug attacks. Paras defeated Tyrogue and did amazing but she would need healing after every battle so putting his pack on, taking out his potion and healing Paras up. Nodding at Dusknoir Simon returned him thanking him before reattaching the ball to his belt. "You're doing great," Simon said to her and she chittered happily. Moving his foot Simon noticed something, brushing the dirt away Simon saw a black flute. Tucking it away he returned to watching Paras.

Cheering Paras on and of course healing her up Simon looked at the smoke coming from the incense hoping that it keeps up long enough to get Paras to evolve since she evolved first out of the three. There was something interesting about one of his most recent captures, Teddiursa had an ability that allowed her to find honey some times. Maybe once Paras evolved he'd trade her for Teddiursa so he could possibly collect honey. There was a ding on his Pokenav and he saw a file from Morgan stating that Shauntal from the Unova Elite Four wrote a book on her experiences training ghost Pokemon and here was the file. Sending her a quick thank you Simon saved the file and put in one headphone to listen while keeping an eye on Paras.

This time Tyrogue didn't hurt Paras at all which was good, no reason to heal her up so he could listen to the file. Apparently Shauntal had seen Distortion world as she mentions what an amazing sight it was and that only one Pokemon roams that world. She meant Giratina but in notes by Cynthia that he had read in a different book she had gone there and seen the three Lake Legendary Pokemon within Giratina's realm. Using the notepad feature on his Pokenav he jotted down notes that Shauntal mentioned about getting to the world. Hopefully one day he could experience it himself.

Watching as the incense smoke went out Simon knew no more wild fighting Pokemon for now. Instead he looked at the Black Flute he had just found and decided to use it to find a wild Chingling. Sending out Dusknoir then playing the flute which crumbled after use. Out of the closest tunnel came a wild, "Chingling the bell Pokemon. There is an orb inside its mouth. When it hopes, the orb bounces all over and makes a ringing sound." Nodding at Dusknoir he readied a Pokeball in order to catch it once the battle was over.

Once Chingling was caught Simon reached into the bag and removed the VS Seeker he received from the Psychics back at the Haunted House. Turning it on Simon watched as it glowed blue, sticking it back into his bag he wondered how exactly that would work. Coming out of one of the tunnels was a young woman heaving a sigh and wiping her brow. Looking up she smiled seeing Simon, "I've been wandering around in the tunnels for a while now, hoping to get here or back to the entrance. Phew, are you a trainer? Would you like to battle?" Simon smiled back and nodded introducing himself. She told him her name was Fairy Trainer Hannah. Her first Pokemon was "Klefki the key ring Pokemon. It never lets go of a key that it likes, so people give it the keys to vaults and safes as a way to prevent crime." Paras remained at Simon's side as Dusknoir went to battle her.
