After not thirty more minutes after she'd awoken, Tanjoubi began descending. Arezu poked her head out and saw the lake stretching before them, a clear blue that sparkled in the windy day. "Looks like we're landing. Guess we'll figure out what Shiisa is looking for." She spoke to Hakuren, but the wind snatched her words away long before they reached his tufted ears.
A shadow passed over the lake, reminding Arezu that Kovu was still out there. He circled as they descended and flapped to the ground after Tanjoubi had placed Arezu and Hakuren safely down in the grass.

Arezu had barely returned Kovu and Tanjoubi before she heard loud yips and barks from somewhere nearby. Shiisa's voice carried easily over the water however, and it was difficult to tell where it was coming from. Luckily, Hakuren had no trouble pointing out the way to go.

In the distance, Arezu spotted the black blur of Shiisa's coat against the green backdrop of the forest. "Can you see anything?" she asked, squinting. Shiisa appeared to be bounding around something. "Yeah. Grass." Arezu looked down, to realize that the grass around here was taller than the poor Zorua was.
"Pfft." She doubled over, failing to keep from breaking out into laughter. "Hey! It's not funny!" Hakuren barked, pouting. He jumped on her back while she was bent over and slung himself over her shoulder. "Fine then, you carry me since you've got the energy to hack about like a maniac."

"FFFFFffft!" Arezu spat, tongue hanging out of her mouth and a disgusted look on her face. "You think you could keep your hair outta my face for five seconds?" she complained. Hakuren huffed and snuggled closer to her neck, "Can't help it if I'm fluffy. You can just learn to deal with it. Or stop making rude comments about my height." Arezu rolled her eyes, raising a hand to pat Haku on the head. As she did, she noticed for the first time a figure standing next to Shiisa. "Is that...?"

Arezu approached Shiisa and her companion with a look on her face that could only be described as bemusement. "Shiisa...is this who you've been chasing?" Shiisa, as if just now noticing her human, barked once happily, tail waving back and forth. By her side, it stood on slender yet powerful legs, and its indigo mane flowed even when the wind had died down. "Suicune..."
As if it were the most natural thin in the world, Shiisa nuzzled the Suicune. "...um."

Arezu stepped forward nervously. "Uh...h-hi. Uh, Suicune." Dammit she sounded like a newb. It wasn't like she'd never seen a legendary before. But somehow, this Suicune seemed almost...parental towards Shiisa. And she didn't want to mess up first impressions. "I'm Arezu. Shiisa's-" Oh s**t. Awkward awkard awkward. "-I mean, well, uh, that's what I'm calling her anyways.."
Suicune stood still for a long moment, appraising the girl. The only sound was the wind rippling through the grass and trees. Hakuren gasped. Suicune stepped forward, gliding like the wind through the grass that separated them. It seemed amused, but warm. Its clear gaze calmed the girl while Hakuren stared with eyes and mouth wide.
After much too long a time spent standing there, Arezu realized Suicune's gaze was almost...expectant. Slowly, as if in a dream, she reached down and pulled an empty pokeball from her pocket. Suicune made no attempt to move away. Arezu extended her arm and Suicune stepped forward one final time, tapping its nose to the pokeball and disappearing inside.

"...did we just catch what I think we just caught?" Arezu raised the pokeball to eye level, as disbelieving as her Zorua. "I dunno if 'catch' is the right word for it.."
Shiisa whined, pawing at the ground and staring at the poke ball in Arezu's hands. "Oh." Arezu released Suicune back out. "Sorry." Suicune gave the girl another of its long looks before Shiisa's barking peeled its attention away. Obligingly, Suicune took off through the meadow, fast as the wind. Shiisa sprinting after Suicune joyfully. "Well. Guess now we know why the furball loves running so much."
"Do you think that Suicune is...I dunno. Like, Shiisa's...mom or something?" Hakuren snorted, "Who knows. I can't even tell if that thing's male or female." Oh. "...Suicune can't mate." They both watched the Arcanine and Suicune, wondering if perhaps even legendary pokemon wanted a legacy that wasn't made of just stories.
Hakuren broke the silence. "Is it...frolicking?" Getting farther in the distance, it was hard to tell, but the Suicune did seem to be moving with a bit of a bounce to its step. They watched until the two disappeared into the distance.

"Well. Guess we'll be waiting around for a while." Hakuren scrambled from her shoulders, leaping down to the grass. "Well then, let's find some pokemon to battle." Arezu shook her head. "All the pokemon around here are too weak. We're too close to Twinleaf Town."
Hakuren didn't seem to hear his trainer, because he'd already gone off in search of something to impress his prowess upon. "Suit yourself," Arezu sighed to herself. She got out her pokeballs and let some of her other pokemon out. Ai curled up by her human, enjoying the fresh landscape, while Shion hurried after Hakuren's red tuft that stuck up over the grass. Kovu seemed content with a nap, while Raphael seemed content with a nap on top of the angry dragon. Hikaru walked off to meditate by the lake's edge.
Arezu leaned back into the grass, staring up at the sky. Her fingers twisted into Ai's fur, idly shifting from scratching to smoothing it out. "Ai, where did you and Shion come from?" she asked absently. She hadn't meant much by the question -it was just something her mind had happened to wonder- but Ai immediately snapped her head to look at Arezu.
Surprised, Arezu raised her eyebrows in a mockery of the Espeon's seriousness until it relaxed. "Sorry, didn't mean to bring up anything bad." Ai looked away so Arezu couldn't see the expression on her face. I'm sorry...
Meanwhile, Hakuren had wandered to the forest's edge. He was crouched low to the ground, eyes fixed upon the swirled head of a Starly. He'd masked his own presence with a small illusion and waggled his tail, ready to pounce.
"Yo! Haku-ru!" Raphael yelled out as he leaped through the air, his light weigh allowing him to soar over the grass before he landed next to the Zorua. The Starly startled and flapped away. "Raph, you scared it- yah!" Hakuren had turned to yell at the Whimsicott and come face to face with- "Shion! When did you get there?!" The Meowstic cocked his head, paw touched to his face, and said nothing. It was unnerving how well he could sneak up like that.
Once Hakuren was willing to listen to Raphael long enough, the little band was quickly headed towards shore to look for what the Whimsicott had seen. "See look, out there! That ain't natural, right?" he stated, pointing out towards the lake's center.
"Huh..." Hakuren peered out over the lake, squinting at what appeared to be some kind of figure way out there. "You know, you were gettin' a bit cheeky back there," Raphael grinned, "You got yourself a girl finally? That why you're-" But Hakuren didn't hear the rest, as a force from behind pushed, sending him flying into the icy water below.
Hikaru, seated with crossed legs by the lake's shore, cracked an eye open. Shion hurried past, arms straight up and holding the nubby feet of Raphael, who was egging him on. "Hoo doggy! Run boy, run!" He cackled maniacally, the little Meowstic swerving beneath him as the Whimsicott swayed with mirth.
Moments later, a sopping wet Hakuren tore through the grass after them. "I hope you've made peace with your gods, because there wont be any where you're going!" he yelled.
Hikaru closed her eyes and went back to meditating.
Raphael'd just picked himself up off the ground when Hakuren bowled into him from behind, pinning him to the ground. He shook his pelt furiously, splashing droplets of water all over Raphael. "Woah! Woah there! Simmer down pup! Shion's the one that pushed you in, not me!"
Hakuren snorted. "You and I both know you put him up to it!" Raphael made a 'you got me, but can you blame me?' face. Hakuren turned back to look at Shion, who had picked himself up from the fall rather stoically. "By the way, nice work. You really tricked me, pushing me in and all."
Raphael's mouth nearly dropped so far he could swallow the whole continent. "You're praising him!?" He jumped up to watch as Shion padded over and put a hand on Hakuren's pelt in the ultimate symbol of kinship for the quiet Meowstic. My my Shion, whatever have you done to my little Hakuren?
