Turtwig sounded like a much better name she thought listening to the older gentleman speak. She was certinaly pleased to learn as a grass-type it would still learn rock type moves. It becoming a ground type was also a plus. It wasn't quite a rock type but it was close enough. She couldn't wait to see what this pokemon looked like! "Thank you so much professor!" She said smiling wider than before. If that was even possible. "I promise to take good care of it!" Opening a large belt fastined pouch, already stuffed with her personaly belongings, Tish jammed in the bright red Poke'dex in as well as the potions and Poke'balls before clipping the newly acquired Turtwig to the other side of her belt. "There we go. All set!" She beamed waving the professor goodbye and making for the door.

Skia started her journey just as anyone else would, by going to the nearest Pokemon Professor. Which in her case happened to be in Twinleaf Town. It was definitely more of a walk than she was used to but she couldn't wait for the chance to meet Professor Rowan. It was after all her dream to become a Pokemon Trainer. She had hoped that maybe if she was really lucky he might have a cute little Pokemon for her to go on adventures with. Hopefully it even liked to kick butt in battle as well.
At long last she made her way to Professor Rowan's Lab. Skia walked in and noticed immediately the scenery. It was all high tech and fancy looking. Their was two weird tower things on both sides of her and the walls were lined with books. But what stood out the most to her was a Table that seemed to have three Poke Balls on it. There was also a couch with the Professor sitting on it. She gasped. This is cool! She excitedly thought.
Skia ran up to the Professor and pretending to be all serious sauluted the Professor "Professor, sir. Skia Gray from Castelia here reporting for her Trainer License" She broke her character and ended up laughing at her attempt to act like a soldier. "You can call me SG though for short, and I'm not just saying that cause I'm small" Skia said as she playfully poked her elbow on his side. Before the Professor could really speak she had already started scratching the side of her mouth as she asked a question "So does they have Pokemon in them? I heard you give a Pokemon to Trainers trying to start their journeys and I've made up my mind on what kind I want. I was thinking maybe a Shaymin or even a" she paused to take a breath "Arceus if you have one. That would be so cool and we could kick so much butt together.-" she was rambling and it seemed inevitable that the Professor was gonna have to cut her off at some point.
Rowan was seated on his couch, reading a folded over newspaper. Sure, he was a researcher, but he also liked to keep up with the local news from time to time. And what better time to do that when he had already finished his researches for the time being? It wasn't meant to be, however, as a new trainer came in to pester him. The stonefaced professor was not as amused at the girl's actions, giving her a stern look when she nudged him with her elbow playfully. With a sigh, he set down his newspaper before addressing her. "Miss Gray, your enthusiasm is far too abundant. I would ask that you try to tone it down a bit in my presence." he told her. "There are pokemon in the balls before you on the table, but you will not find any legends here. Legendary pokemon are not things given to new trainers. You, as a trainer, must earn the rights directly from a legendary pokemon to even have them in your presence." he explained a bit gruffly. "No, you will either choose one of the starter pokemon I have here for you to choose from, or none at all. Upon this table is Piplup, the water type, Chimchar, the fire type, and Turtwig, the grass type. If you need to know more about them, feel free to ask."

She was slightly taken back by the Professor's seriousness to her. Right she told herself, he's gonna be a hard one to crack. She plopped on the couch next to him, leaned forward and looked at the three balls in front of her. So there was a Fire Type, a Water Type and a Grass Type. She wasn't really sure which one to choose and wasn't really sure how to choose. Mostly Skia thought the Professor was going to just give her one not make her decide.
She pretended to be serious "Got it, I haven't met any Legendary Pokemon so one of these will have to do." she looked at the Professor and smiled. Sticking out an arm with a finger pointed at one of the balls, she leaned over just enough to press the button on it. "Mind if I take a look" she tweaked her head to the side slightly closing her eyes before looking at the Pokemon. It was the Grass Type Pokemon "Turtwig you look like you want to go on an adventure with me huh?" she pinched the cheeks of the Starter and talked baby talk to it. The Turtwig simply opened it's mouth and rolled over. "I'm Skia and we are going to kick so much butt together. We might even get to beat a Legendary Pokemon along the way. Oh yeah, before I forget what's your name?" the Turtwig rolled over with a resounding not seeming to understand the question. "Turtaaa" she wasn't sure what that meant, but she imagined this was somehow a test.
She placed an elbow on the table and leaned her face on the fist. The Pokemon propped up on it's back legs and brought the front two down on her forearm as if trying to tell her to gets out of it's bubble. "I see, so it's Two Twigs" she looked at the Professor still leaning on her fist "Seems to me Two Twigs thinks I'm worthy of his presence" she joked about the Professors prior comment.
She stood up very excitedly, "Professor, I'm ready to kick butts and eat nuts with this little guy" she said before her stomach growled at her. She kind of half laughed "but I'm all out of nuts so if you have a vending machine that would be awesome" she totally forgot to ask about a Pokedex like she had meant to. She had expected the Professor to have a funny bone but it was apparent that was a lot harder to find. Hopefully food wouldn't be.
Rowan didn't seem all that surprised when the girl mentioned that she hadn't met any legends before. As she reached out to poke at a ball, he made the 'go ahead' gesture. He silently watched the exchange before him between the young girl and the turtwig that she had chosen. It was certainly strange, but he'd have to admit that he has seen odder. "Very well. You and your new partner will be needing some supplies before you go." he replied, getting up from the couch to wonder off to a desk and a filing cabinet to gather said supplies. He returned with a bundle of pokeballs, potions, and a pokedex. "Here you are. Some potions and pokeballs to start your journey off, as well as a pokedex. Use it well." he told her, handing the stuff over. "As for nuts, I am afraid you will have to go to the nearest market to find such vending machines. Have safe travels, Miss Gray."

The Professor mentioned they would need supplies, he handed Skia a Pokedex, some Potions and a bag of Pokeballs. No food though so she was gonna have to look elsewhere for that. "A to-go bag," she said inspecting the contents before shoving them all in her bag"Well Professor this has been fun and just so you know" she picked up Two Twigs Ball off the table. "You are definitely getting homemade nut bars for Christmas, she pressed the button and returned the Pokemon to it's Ball. "They are good for you and will help you remember stuff now that you're old, aren't you glad you met me now?" without a doubt she didn't think she was insulting him at all. I mean after all, she thought, who would be insulted by free food?
She finished packing all her new stuff in her bag and stood up flinging it on her back in one motion. She backed up towards the door with her thumbs up, "Ok, Bye" she proclaimed with a smile before launching herself out of the door and on to her adventure.
At long last, Lakshmi had made their way to the distant region of Sinnoh. They had never quite been this far away from home before and the prospect was rather exciting, but they hid their giddiness behind a calm mask of professionalism. After all, they were here for business, not pleasure. Rather serious business too—it seemed that one of the starter pokemon housed here had been tainted with an aura most foul, and so the good professor had the sense to call in a professional. Lakshmi was gifted in aura reading and cleansing through their studies as a sage. He just hoped that his talents could be of some use here.
Osma glanced at his master, sensing the many different emotions they were experiencing. Anticipation, nervousness, hopefulness, pride. While Lakshmi was talented in maintaining a calm exterior, they couldn't hide their true feelings from him. "All will be well, master. I am certain of it." The Lucario insisted. Lakshmi nodded and drew in a deep, calming breath. They represented the Jiāo tú clan now, and it was an honor to be sent to take care of this disturbance in the aura.
Lakshmi opened the doors to the lab and found his way to Rowan, placing his hands together and giving a formal bow. "Namaste, Professor. I am Lakshmi. I believe we spoke over the phone. Will you show me the chimchar? I would like to see it for myself." They asked politely.

Rowan was normally quite stubborn when it came to pokemon. He caught the starters he gave out to young trainers himself, and made sure they were well behaved partners. In all of his years, he'd never quite met a pokemon so unruly as this peculiar chimchar. Not only was it unnecessarily hostile, but it also had strange shadowy attacks that no chimchar should. It was at the advise of his aides that he gave in and decided to call in someone more experienced in such matters. After all, he couldn't very well give the unruly chimp to a new trainer, and keeping it in the lab was starting to take its toll, but releasing such a violent pokemon out into the wild was also out of the question. Thankfully, there seemed to be a group of monks and sages out on Mount Silver who were better equipped for such a task, and they were sending one of their group down to take the Chimchar.
Rowan wasn't sure what to think about their claims to read auras and all that spiritual hubbub, but if they could in fact "cleanse" this chimchar of whatever taint it possessed, then he was more than happy to give it over. It took some time, but eventually a young... Man—Woman? Rowan couldn't quite tell—walked into his lab followed by a mega lucario, claiming that they had spoken over the phone. "Ah, yes of course." Rowan nodded, hesitantly retrieving the chimchar's pokeball. "Here it is, though I would request that you not let it out in here. It's quite unruly, even for us." Rowan cleared his throat. "Thank you for coming. Please let us know if you are able to cure it."

From upstairs in her bedroom, the young woman stayed silent, letting her stare burn a hole into her ceiling, and stayed that way even as the stairs just outside her door creaked. "Eudora?" her momma called out then followed up with three raps on the door. She ignored that too. "Eudora Trinity Jones!" The door flew open and Eudora, who did not like her middle name, shot up with a scowl. "Fix your face," Zahra Newkirk rebuked and Eudora's overturned mouth melded into a flat line. Her mother sighed.
"What's wrong?" The harshness in her tone faded as she joined her on the bed. "I don't wanna go," was her simple, obvious answer. Zahra nodded her head slowly—she'd known all along—but wrapped an arm around her shoulder before prompting her daughter to continue. She did, but not before dragging out a few seconds of silence, "I just... I appreciate what you and Daddy are doing, I just don't get why you're doing this. I'm fine here! I like helping you and Mimi out." Eudora had every intention of stopping there: short and sweet so that her main point stood out. But, this had been building up inside of her for the past 2 weeks, ever since Momma had suggested it, and, like a dam: once the floodgates were opened they'd only close once she'd let everything out.
"If all I did was sit behind a computer all day, every day I'd get it— but I'm not! I get my Vitamin D—probably too much of it if we're being honest—I'm active, and I talk to people! I've hit the trifecta, or whatever, of decent living!" Zahra, who'd sat quietly and listened carefully, gave a single, understanding nod before interjecting while Eudora was taking a breath. "You do, and your Mimi and I love and appreciate all the help you've given us. But, baby, when's the last time you visited a city outside of Castelia? And, you've only been out of the region twice: attending Aunt Imani's wedding, and when you visited your cousins–""I know, Momma, I know." Zahra pressed on, "We just want you to see that there's a world outside of Undella— hell, outside of Unova. Not forever, just for a few weeks. Grace said that..."
At the mention of the name, Eudora's scowl came right back and she reflexively rolled her eyes, though she was smart enough to direct both away from her momma. Of course, Little Miss Nosy would toss her unwanted opinion in. Why she thought this was any of her business was beyond Eudora, but then again, Grace making everyone else's business her business was practically her job. "Eudora?" The young woman blinked, found herself staring down at her hands, and quickly lifted her head to meet her momma's gaze, "yeah?""Did you hear what I said?"
Truth be told, she'd tuned her out after she-who-shall-not-be-named had been mentioned. "Yeah," she lied and continued on quickly so she wouldn't be called out on it, "You and Daddy are right: I'll go. Just don't be surprised if I rack up thousands of dollars in hotel bills." She was joking and they both knew it, just like they both knew Eudora wouldn't have to worry about continuing her journey if she did rack up such a bill. The two women shared a laugh, then a supposed-to-be-short hug before the older one stood to her feet.
"Alright, let's check your suitcase one last time."

Eudora was already looking away from her phone as she hit 'send' but reeled herself back in to double-check that the text had been sent before she sunk it into the front pouch of her overalls. She clucked her tongue as she returned to her previous distraction of staring out the window: the blurry world just outside the train was just entertaining enough to keep her mind off her destination. It worked, a bit too well: 2 minutes later the PA system crackled to life with an announcement that they'd arrived in Twinleaf Town and Eudora felt the train start to slow, and watched in dismay as the blurry trees and hills outside were replaced with houses and then a smattering of people standing on a platform.
"Guess that's that," the young woman muttered to herself and whipped out her phone to shoot off another text to Lauren before she grabbed her suitcase from above. It was oddly quiet as Eudora rolled out onto the platform– though quiet didn't equate to safe she reminded himself. Small towns were notorious for their close-knit secrets and murders. "EJayyyyy!" A booming voice put an end to the midday tranquility and she'd just started turning her head in its direction when a pair of arms wrapped themselves around her shoulders and she was pulled into a hug. "Hey, Lauren!" Her laugh broke up her greeting and Eudora returned her friend's hug.
Lauren was the sole reason why she'd chosen Sinnoh out of the other 6 regions (Unova was not included for obvious reasons). She had an in with the region's professor—an "old white dude" named Rowan—as one of his newest assistants.
"So, how's the job?" Eudora asked after they'd detangled themselves and they'd caught each other up on their mornings. "Girlllll." Eudora laughed at the overexaggerated eye roll Lauren tossed in. "It's been..." she paused, looked over to the lab as they drew closer to it, then smirked. "It's been a learning experience, I'll leave it at that. I've only got an hour for lunch."
Their conversation quieted as they drew closer to the building, then ramped right back up as Lauren made a show of giving Eudora the grand tour. It was a short one, no more than 3 minutes, and while she could only guess at what the machines did here she was impressed by it all. "The professor's out right now, but wait right here and I'll get you your stuff," Lauren said but she was already on the move. "You can do that?" Eudora called after her. "Yeah, sure! He's practically giving the starters away!"
And then she was gone. Things were developing a lot faster than she had hoped for: she'd been laying in bed just 4 hours ago. Things were going a bit too smoothly. What if– "Here you go, EJ!" In front of her, Lauren was holding out something to her. Instinctively, Eudora took it. "You said you were cool with anything but fire, so I got you the cutest one," her friend explained gleefully.
She managed a smile through the twisting of her stomach and the sour taste in her mouth. "Thanks, Lauren, I really appreciate you doing this for me!"
