It wasn't until he was addressed directly did the older gentleman hold a hand up, making the motion to excuse himself, before he turned around to face the male before him. He was a bit older than the young trainers that usually came in, clamoring for a starter, and seemed to be in the possession of several pokemon already. "But of course." Professor Rowan cleared his throat and took a step in Saru's direction. "How can I be of assistance?"

► Saru bowed respectfully almost knocking Mankey off his shoulder and forcing Aipom from its make shift swing on the rings that hung from his staff. Both pokemon saved themselves via their prehensile tail, gaining a stronger grip on their respective perch before Saru stood back upright. Saru payed little concern for either pokemon knowing both weren't to be so easily dislodged simply by him doing something he did on a daily basis. Neither pokemon seemed too bother by the near lose of balance.
The professor of shiino Saru noted was likely twice his age and then some. Saru felt a little intimidated by the man and his apparent scowl which he wasn't aware to be the mans resting face rather then one of aggravating. It was best not to provoke, clearly. "I didn't mean to interrupt sir." He began glancing back to the assistant apologetically. "but iv come to receive a starter pokemon from your lap. I came all the way from the Johto on the knowledge i could acquire a Chimchar." Saru motioned to the three pokemon he had surrounded himself with of which each greeted the professor in a chorus of happy cheers.

Rowan raised one, heavy, eyebrow when Saru bowed, kept briefly entertained by the mad scramble his two pokemon made when their trainer bowed. He waved away the young man's apology, not in the least bit perturbed by the interruption. "It's fine. People come and go through this lab every day." Rowan hummed thoughtfully as he waved one of his aides, the same one he'd been talking to earlier in fact, over then gestured towards Saru. "Grab a few items for this new trainer," he instructed, and then to Saru he gave a nod. "Stay right here, I'll collect your Chimchar," he said before walking off towards one of the many rooms in the back. Considering the three pokemon by his side, the professor wasn't surprised by Saru's choice in starter. But it appeared that his companions were well-mannered, they weren't running around trying to touch everything in sight, so he had no fear that Saru wouldn't be a good trainer to this starter.
By the time Rowan returned, a pokeball in hand, so had his aide, with a neat package and a pokedex balanced carefully atop. "Here is your starter, and a few essentials, potions and pokeballs and the like," he explained, handing the Chimchar over first before he took the package into his own hands, gently holding the pokedex in his free hand. "And last, but not least, your pokedex. I simply need to have it registered in your name and you'll be able to look up the entry for any poekmon you come across."

Saru felt a little relived he wasn't intruding to much. He might need to stay in good relations with the older man if he was to achieve his new goal. Rowan seemed the sort to have a short fuss, or maybe it was just the beard and muttonchops. Either pissing him off, no matter the reasons, was a bad ideal Saru noted not to pull any pranks or more importantly allow his pokemon too either while here. Aipom especially. "Yes sir." He said as the professor and his aid left to collect the pokemon and items. Mankey chattered curiously moving from one shoulder to the other to keep the professor sight. Aipom mimicked the curios expression. Saru knew what was coming next and snapped his fingers drawing in both pokemon's attention. "No." He whispered sternly halting their mischief.
Saru smiled brightly as the professor and his assistance return shortly there after each with something different. Rowan held the pokeball containing his new Chimchar. He couldn't hardly contain himself but remained as calm and collect as he could. Patience was key to peace he told himself. "Thank you both." He said collecting the items and stuffing them away into the single pouch bag that hang hidden within the folds of his robs. Mankey snatch up a pokeball to inspect the item. Saru ignored the monkey's ill behavior. It wasn't wise to stop its curiosity all the time if he didn't want to provoke its rage which was a chore to quash.
Saru kept a tight grip on the new Chimchars pokeball as Rowan spoke of the pokedex. 'Sakatoshi Koshima" He replied giving his full name. " I don't have a middle name, i hope that's not an issue?" He said releasing the Chimchar from its cage. The fire monkey looked confused to be released but cheerful none the less. "Hello little one. Im your new trainer." Saru said kneeling down to pick the pokemon up. One hand under each of its arms for support.

Alrighty~ Unfortunately all of my characters are busy, either with other peeps or just with plans I have for them, but I might be able to free up one of them soon.
Rowan gave a nod when Saru introduced himself, flipping open his soon-to-be Pokedex and powering it on. "It's fine, a middle name isn't necessary," he assured the man as he went about registering the device. Once finished he extended it out for Saru, or one of his pokemon, to take it. "That's everything you need. If you find yourself in need of something else, do not hesitate to return to the lab." Rowan gestured towards the many aides moving about the room, they made for quite the lively atmosphere. "Even if I'm not around, someone else is more than capable of aiding you." At least, they ought to be. After all, they were all under his tutelage. With everything set Professor Rowan gave a quick bob of the head in farewell, "take care on your journey, and I expect you to care for that Chimchar I gave you."

He'd heard elm was a scatter brain rushing from one task to the next unable to remain still. Rowan was nothing like that. It was certainly funny to think how different Pokemon professors could be. "Thank you professor and rest assured I'll take extensive care of her.' The monk said reaching out to take the Poke'dex only to have Aipom snatch it up as he leaned forward. It was just the distance the little purple ape needed to reach with its tail. "Dar~ Mani~ tan !" The large gray-black Pokemon said having remained silent until now. It was looking up at Aipom disapprovingly. "It's alright." Saru said calmly patting the large ape-like Pokemon's head. "Curiously does no harm in moderation." Saru gave a final respectful bow and turned to leave. "Good day professor."

Kentaro let out a light yawn strolling up the path. He had been travelling for most of the day and while he was a bit anxious inside for what was about to happen, he couldn't ignore his oncoming exhaustion. He raised his arms out to stretch them and grunted along with it. He wiped his hands over his face and with his sleepy eyes he looked towards the Professor lab,"Well...at least Stan was right about the address..."He came up to the lab, but felt himself ready to hault. Why was he doing this again? His cousin has convinced him to, and his dad, and his uncle, his sister...it appeared he was the only one yet to convince himself. He felt his breathing become uneven and he blinked staring at the door,"Okay...better open the door..."
He opened the door and walked in. The shock didn't change his face but he was impressed by the lab's cleanliness. He let a mischievous smirk appear, still sleepy eyed and thought,'Looks better than the lab back in Johto...' He looked around and called out, though he wasn't very loud..."Excuse me is the Professor here? My name is Kentaro Frene I've come to...um get a pokemon? Yeah a starter pokemon..."

Hey there, welcome to the guild! I have to say, I love that drawing you have of Kentaro, he's adorable!
It'd been quiet, as of late, the professor had noted. The request of starters for new trainers had decreased considerably, now the man only received about one or two trainers a week, which... certainly didn't bother him. While Professor Rowan had no qualms against receiving new trainers, young or old, this did leave him free to put his efforts into his other fields of work; why just last week his aides and he had come across a breakthrough of sorts, something to celebrate truly. That being said, he welcomed the arrival of a new trainer. Which was why Rowan didn't look quite as stern as he usually did as he approached the young man who'd stepped inside, the sound of his footsteps somewhat drowned out by the usual hustle and bustle of the lab. "Kentaro Frene you said?" With his mouth set into a firm line, he sized the teenager up before he nodded to himself. "Welcome to the lab, I'm Professor Rowan. What kind of starter were you looking for?" he inquired, mentally noting how unsure the boy sounded. Ah well, he'd reserve all judgments -- for now at least.
Kentaro stood there for a few moments like a pole in the ground. She looked around, maybe he should have been more forceful when calling out for assistance. He leaned in and looked around, a little unsure about leaving his current spot. He took a step forward and then took a more close-in look at the lab around him. There were a few people there, but they all seemed rather busy. He scratched the side of his head wondering,"Wondering if I should come back..."his dreary eyes barely grew wider as he heard a voice speaking to him. He turned his attention to the gray haired gentleman and after repeating his name Kenny bowed in respect and back up again,"Yep hello,"he smiled a little, looking a mix of unsure and tired and itched his cheek,"My friends call me Kenny too sir."He...really wasn't sure if there was a reason to mention that.
The man introduced himself as Professor Rowan and got straight to the point of asking Kenny what starter he was looking for. Kenny went silent and appeared to had zoned out but was thinking on the decision. He had thought about all the way to the lab. His cousin has given him one of those starter pamphlet things that listed them. Even though most of his family went the fire type route he wanted to be sure of his decision. By now to the Professor the boy was staring down at the floor. Kenny finally looked back up and shared his gaze with the professor, this time smiling a little bigger than before, seeming like he woke up from a nice nap,"Professor if permitting I'd like the fire type..." He pulled the pamphlet out and read the name,"It's called a Chimchar right?"he rustled his hair again as he read the details on the little fire monkey. It was cute so maybe that's why he made it his choice?

Once a starter had been specified Rowan; with a grunt, waved one of his aides over before immediately dismissing him once she'd walked over, silently urging her to gather the usual new trainer items. Once that was done he turned to the younger male. "Kentaro will do just fine," he informed, remarking on the optional nickname the teen had offered him. "As for your requested starter. Yes, it's Chimchar. Give me a moment and I'll collect one for you." With that said the professor walked away to grab a Chimchar for him, the aide from before returning in that time with a small parcel. Professor Rowan rejoined them soon after, pokeball in hand, then swept up the items his aide had collected before sending her on her way.
"Here you are, your Chimchar." He nodded in the direction of the capsule in his possession, handing it over to Kentaro with a neutral expression. "And, of course, you'll need a pokedex. One cannot call themselves a trainer without it." Well, perhaps that was a bit of a stretch. But, you'd certainly be a sorry excuse for a trainer if you didn't have a pokedex. In the professor's opinion, at least. "And, to help you on your way, we offer a small package for new trainers. It has the general necessities, pokeballd and potions," he explained and then straightened up. "If you don't need anything else, I'll bid you farewell. Feel free to return, if you find yourself in need of further assistance. Either myself or one of the aides will be here."

Kenny quickly put the pamphlet away once the Professor acknowledge he knew what he was talking about. Well, of course he knew he was a professor it'd be unprofessional to not know. He started to feel slightly embarrassed, pulling out a pamphlet like he didn't know anything. This slip up only made him more nervous. There wasn't any turning back now, not if he wanted to get beat up by his sisters...and Staci...and Stanton...he really was the cool head of the family. His thoughts distracted him from Professor Rowan and his aide's return. His voice perked Kenny's attention back to them as he presented a pokeball to him,"Oh- yes thank you..."his sleepy expression began to show a change into anxiousness,"Sorry professor I'm...just a little nervous. I can...like call it out right?"
He conjures the image of his sisters and others calling their pokemon out in dramatic fashion, but Kenny simply pressed the button and in a beam of light a Chimchar leapt into his arms. The little monkey's voice was light and cheery, but not as energetic as he imagined, she was sweet. He smiled and petted her,"Hello...um I'm Kentaro...but I can go by Kenny. I guess that doesn't matter to you though-?"He made himself flush, realizing he was about to get into a conversation with a pokemon, not realizing this might being normal for him in the future. He looked at her curiously and asked,"There's...a lot of Chimchar's out there I'm guessing- could I call you something else?" Chimchar looked at him in the same curious way and then spread a toothy grin, "Chim chi chi chim!" A light bulb switched on as she spoke,"Ah that sounds good- Chi-Chi. Can I call you Chi-Chi?"The Chimchar in his arms blushed and held her cheeks before wrapping herself around his head in a hug.
He was taken back by this and wasn't sure what to do, holding his hands out around her rather than touch the pokemon to pull her off."I uh guess that's it then?"ChiChi let go and went back to being cradled in his arms til he motioned her to move to his shoulder. She sat and held herself by his hair, but it didn't hurt him at all. He bowed to the professor smiling,eyes still reading as sleepy,"Thank you for that offer Professor. I'm afraid I don't have a good grasp on what I'll be doing...but"For the first time he shut his eyes and gave a toothy grin and a chuckle,"It's pretty excitin'!"He returned to his regular demeanor and left the lab. Everything had been still and silent. It was all Leona had known for the longest time, even if she was only barely conscious of it. Then, there was a blinding light and a roar. It cut through Leona’s endless and timeless expanse like a knife, searing her consciousness. With a dull thud and a grunt, Leona dropped onto the grass in Twinleaf Town, and feeling the earth against her face, Leona attempted to stir, but she felt incredibly dizzy and weak, she couldn’t even think to try and form words, much less move her lips. Thankfully, she had appeared in front of a helpful stranger. Nikolaus had traveled a long way from home by now. He had opted to travel by foot for the most part to reach Twinleaf, deciding that the cityscapes of Unova was where he'd like to start his pokemon journey. Viktoria, his alolan vulpix, walked alongside him, sniffing around. It was her first time traveling this far by foot, so sometimes she'd fall a bit behind. “Almost zhere, Viktoria. Vould you like me zu carry you?” Nikolaus questioned his partner. She looked up at him and declined with a soft bark, trotting up ahead. Before coming to a dead stop as her fur ruffled a bit as she sensed something strange. Nikolaus looked up just in time for a bright flash of light before a figure appeared before him, a woman in armor and a blue dress, only for her to crumple to the ground soon after the light dimmed. Viktoria had skittered to stand behind her trainer's legs, peering over at the cause of the strange event while Nikolaus rubbed at his eyes to make sure he wasn't just imagining it, but the figure still lay there before him, as real as things can get. Curious and fascinated, he approached, kneeling beside Leona and gently placing a hand on her shoulder to stir her. “Are you oh-kay?” He asked, doing his best to keep his german accent from completely taking over. Viktoria had since crept closer, a cold wet nose sniffing at Leona’s face.
Leona barely heard Nikolaus, his voice distorted and distant sounding, but with his rousing and Viktoria’s prodding, her teal eyes fluttered open. Everything was a blur, and she had a hard time focusing on the figures before her. “Where….? What….?” Still quite disoriented, Leona was barely able to make any really coherent sentences, but instinct forced her to attempt getting up onto her feet and grab the aegislash from her back to defend herself with. It was an endeavor doomed from the start however, as she only managed to get on her hands and knees before her arms buckled and she fell to the ground once again with a grimace. Viktoria jumped back with a startled yelp, and a light gasp escaped Nikolaus at her fall, muttering something that sounded apologetic. He moved to try and help her sit up: he was not extremely muscular, but he was in good enough shape not to be too strained from lifting the armored woman. “Fraulein, be careful. You appeared zo zuddenly, in flash of light, as if Arkeus sent you....” He told her, obviously eager to help her as much as he could. Of course he wanted to start his journey, but helping this woman was more urgent. Besides, it was a very interesting turn of events. Leona was starting to hear the man beside her more clearly, but nothing he was saying was much sense. Still, she was thankful for his assistance in helping her up. She clung to him, still far too unstable on her own to hold herself up. “Fraulein…?” She repeated. “Doest thou speak my name…? And with familiarity…?” The name Fraulein didn’t sound quite right to her, but he’d called her so earnestly with it such that she had to assume he knew something about her. And what was this about appearing in a flash of light? “Prithee kind sir, if thou art such a man, tell me how—ungh….” She’d spoken too fast, forgetting her pounding head and numb mouth.
Nikolaus was relieved that she could somewhat hold herself upright, even if she still had to cling to him for stability. He blinked as she finally spoke, a bit taken aback. She talked like she was straight out of a medieval tale, but she had also seemed to mistaken his words for him knowing her. “Es tut mir leid - er... sorry.” He muttered, translating afterwards. He then did his best to drop his accent for the most part in hopes to help her understand. “I do not know your name. Just a passerby.” He explained, causing Leona to look troubled. “I see….” She had somewhat hoped he would have some insight on what was going on, or who she was. After all, she couldn’t remember much of anything at the moment, and it made her feel lost and uneasy. Nodding slowly, Leona attempted once again to stand with the taller gentleman’s help, successfully getting to her feet.
Meanwhile, Viktoria had sniffed around, wandering a bit away. She came across another pokemon, sprawled out on the ground. A Lucario? The snowy fox inched closer, prodding at the pokemon with a cold wet nose and a curious paw. The lucario seemed to recover much quicker than Leona, looking at Viktoria with curious red eyes and sniffing back at her. Her ears twitched as she shifted and sat up, taking in her surroundings. It felt so…. Peaceful here. It was strange to her for some reason. Closing her eyes, she scanned the auras of the area just to make sure nothing suspicious was going on, but when she saw a bright and familiar aura, she immediately jumped to her feet, turning around and running towards Leona and Nikolaus. “My lady!” She called, coming to Leona’s side, glancing between her and Nikolaus. The older gentleman didn’t seem to be doing her any harm, quite the opposite in fact, and for that she was thankful. Viktoria barked after the found Lucario got to her feet, the little white fox scampering after the lucario. She returned to Nick's side as the lucario spoke to the mysterious woman. “Oh, a Lucario!” Nikolaus exclaimed as the bipedal dog pokemon came in, apparently well acquainted with the woman. “I-isolde…” Leona gasped, recalling the lucario at once. “Aye, Lady Leona, I am at thy side.” Isolde promised, taking her other arm and throwing it around her neck to offer her more support. “Leona… Indeed… I recall….” Isolde gently hushed the knight. “Speak not Commander, thou must rest, I implore thee.” The lucario looked to Nikolaus pleadingly. “Good sir, might there be an inn or a ward to which we could take my lady? She must recover from her fatigue.” Leona looked somewhat irritated. “I need no ward, I must—hng…” Her small surge of confidence and strength quickly faded. “How now, Commander? Thou canst scarcely stand thy own. I implore thee again, rest.” Nikolaus helped the woman to her feet, keeping her steady. It was still a bit weird how they spoke - it was very out-of-date after all. However, he could understand it just fine, as he has written in the same manner before. He was already considering what to do next - the lab was the nearest place he knew of here, and he was sure that Professor Rowan would at least be able to help. “There’s a lab nearby. Professor Rowan can help.” He replied, gesturing the direction with his free hand.
Isolde nodded slowly. “A professor! Indeed, a man of Arceus would surely help the lady forthwith, but a lab? Be this another of thy foreign words?” Though she was confused by the terms Nikolaus was throwing out, she willingly assisted him in getting Leona towards the nearby building - which made it much easier for Nikolaus. Once they were inside, Nikolaus got the attention of some of the lab assistants. “Zhis fraulein needs help recovering. Iz professor available?” He asked the assistants with a friendly smile. A female assistant seemed to brush off her initial fluster - she might have known of the author - and nodded, motioning to take a seat before rushing off to get the professor. “Danke schon~” Nick called after the assistant before helping Leona to sit down.
Both Leona and Isolde stared at the facility they had been brought into. Right at the entrance were two very large machines that lit up with bright cyan lights, and Isolde couldn’t help but steer clear of them both as they brought Leona to a chair. Another assistant brought a bottle of water over to offer. Nick thanked the assistant, taking the bottle and opening it before holding it out to Leona. “Here, drink some vater.” Leona looked at the bottle of water curiously as it was given to her, gently reaching out and grasping it. The plastic material was strange to her, and she wholly expected it to turn to liquid in her hands, but when the clear, cold, and flexible material held it’s shape, she smiled in awe. “What a curious flask…” She mused, taking a sip. The water inside tasted so sterile and yet fresh and cold as the exterior felt, it was quite the experience. “Isolde, thou must drink.” Leona insisted, trying to hand the water to her partner, but the lucario declined with a shake of her head.

Professor Rowan was surprised as an assistant came in to tell him that someone had brought in a woman that needed to recover. Naturally, he asked for more information, but the only thing the female assistant could tell more on was that the man that brought the woman in was Nikolaus Weiss; apparently an author she was a fan of. The professor got up from his desk, going to go look for himself. It better not be some kids messing around again. Or anything too serious! This was a lab, not a hospital!
Rowan was glad to see that the situation wasn't dire, but found it weird that the woman was wearing... armor? Was she doing some kind of cosplay thing? He approached, clearing his throat. "Salutations. I am Professor Rowan. My assistant conveyed to me that you are in need of some help?" he introduced himself gruffly. Mr. Weiss explained that she didn't know where or who she was, just recently recalling her name. "Well then. If you don't have an ID on you, then I should be able to look you up. Are you registered as a trainer? Give me your name." Rowan asked, moving to a nearby computer so that he could search the databases.

Leona glanced up from her water bottle as Rowan entered the room. He certainly did not look like the clergyman she had and Isolde had expected, but still introduced himself as a professor and offered to help them. Nick spoke up for them both, explaining the situation and how Leona seemed to be suffering from some sort of trauma and amnesia, but could now recall her name, to which Rowan asked if she was registered as a trainer. “Aye, Captain Leona Cardonell, iwis be inscribed on the registrar of the fourth infantry battalion. Howbeit, I wouldst certes be taken aback should thee hast her scroll, lest thy be a thief of the royal guard. However, such behavior doest not befit a man of Arceus...” Isolde chuckled, shaking her head. The fact that this man thought he might have her registry was utterly ridiculous.

He gave her some time, in case by chance they were just remembering wrong.
