Marco struggled to pay attention to the Professor's words as the floor around him suddenly filled up with little monsters. He squatted down to greet the Chimchar, who wouldn't look him straight in the eyes, only squint and scowl at him while warily eyeing him from her peripheral vision. He reached his hand forward towards her, only to have it smacked out of the way by the aggressive chimp. You little piss! You're perfect. Rowan kept going on and on about responsibility and gave him a tutorial on Pokemon, which Marco briefly considered paying attention to before instead becoming invested in wiggling the Piplup's little nubby arms to make it look like it was dancing around, which seemed to please it, but didn't interest Marco. He hardly noticed the pokeball Rowan threw tink against his forehead while he was playing with the Turtwig, who he thought was a bit on the dull side. At the arrival of the other two the Chimchar turned her back on them and ran up on to Marco's head and clung tight. He looked up to Rowan. "Guess this one's not letting me go." The rejected Pokemon were returned to their container while Marco crawled as little and as least accurate information he could on the documents the Profesor provided him and received his license. The whole time the mangy looking Chimchar did not release her grip on Marco's head, a fact which nobody would acknowledge. If Marco didn't know any better, he'd assume they wanted that little thing gone as much as they wanted Marco out. The look on the Professor's face, and the sight of the aides turning back to their workstations, peering over their shoulders all too obviously now and again, both served as forces leading Marco straight out the door. And not soon enough! He pushed open the lab doors eagerly, ready to set out to explore the Twinleaf area, aggressive little chimp in tow.

╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Arriving at the Pokemon Lab his sister entered three years ago Gaelio sighed as he entered the doors of the lab. Sound leaked from his over ear headphones, the thump of the bass escaping occasionally. His eyes narrowed, whether by fatigue or by being unimpressed, scanned the lab for anyone who could help him.
Starting a Pokemon journey always began in the same way, going to a Pokemon lab to get a 'starter Pokemon' before setting out. Without a steady plan or any idea of who he was coming to see Gaelio was just looking to get this over with. With three Pokemon already in his possession he wasn't really in need of another but he knew it was a rite of passage for any trainer.
Entering the lab further he looked around and breathed a small sigh once again, slipping the headphones off of his head the music could be heard more clearly when off of his head. A relaxed hip hop tune, fitting for long walks and the beginning of a journey. Looking at one of the researchers in the lab he spoke, "I'm looking for a Pokemon Professor, I'd like a Chimchar from this lab." He had already made up his mind on the Pokemon that he would start with, it was the same as Almira had chosen and it was a no brainer for him.
He really had no idea who he was looking for, he knew that the Pokemon Professors were supposed to be all very recognizable but maybe he was just overlooking him. Either way he awaited an answer from someone, anyone. He was just ready to get over this and begin travelling towards a gym. The sooner he could get to the Elite Four the better, but he wanted to make sure that he was prepared.
As he settled in to wait for an answer he leaned against a bookshelf in the lab. He carried an overall air of arrogance and general displeasure. It was clear that he didn't care about this journey at all at this point and was here as more of an obligation to his sister than anything else. ╠═══════════════════════════════════════════════╣

Lol I don't play Rowan often, but thank you ^^;; I hope I do him justice and I apologize for the wait
Rowan was good at knowing what was going on in his lab. He was also pretty good at reading people, whether showed it or not. Which is why, as he emerged from the back, he looked directly at the man, and seemed to take a moment to take him in. "I'm Professor Rowan," he introduced, "You say you're here for a Chimchar?" Stoic, professional, and unreadable as ever, Rowan tended to come off rather gruff to most people, and this time wasn't much of a change. The young man's attitude didn't help things, either. He continued to look at him a moment, then moved over, gathering a few items onto a tray.
"Very well. I suppose you'll need a pokedex, too. I'll register it to you, and register you into the system, so that you can begin your journey towards the Pokemon League," he began to explain. "Any pokemon you catch will be recorded into the pokedex, and their data will additionally help me and my colleagues in our research. So it would benefit us for you to catch a lot." He finished registering the pokedex, and turned back to the man, offering a pokeball up front, the one with the chimchar, as well as several other free pokeballs, some potions, and his pokedex. "But, of course, that's not a requirement."
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ Pushing himself up off the bookshelf as the professor approach Gaelio scoffed. He still carried the unimpressed attitude with him as the professor, Rowan, began to talk. Taking the Pokeball first he placed it inside his jacket, followed by the pokedex, "I don't care about your research," sliding his bag off his shoulder he placed the potions and balls into it. "I'm not out to catch em all or anything like that. And this Pokemon is merely a means to an end," tapping the outside of his jacket where he placed the ball he slung his bag back up onto his shoulders. "So I hate to disappoint you but I probably won't be helping with any research."
The old man seemed to be stern and no nonsense, that was all well and good and Gaelio assumed that he was more than likely intimidating to many trainers starting their journeys. Inhaling a deep breath he noticed that the song coming from his headphones had changed, scanning the lab once again he didn't see much else that would help him out. "If you wanted to help me out that badly you could tell me where the first gym in this league was."
Asking in such a way that a response wouldn't be necessary he once again came off as arrogant and blase towards something as grandiose as a Pokemon Trainers first steps into the world. ╠═══════════════════════════════════════════════╣

Rowan's expression wasn't changing much as Gaelio dealt out his attitude, though he did give something of an odd sort of scoff as he finished. He tucked the tray under one arm, stepping back and adjusting his coat. "I'm sure the answer to that will be something you can find on your journey," he remarked in the same gruff voice he'd spoken in to begin with. Clearly, he wasn't too ruffled by the attitude, but he wasn't invested in making things easier, either. A man who saw his pokemon as nothing more than a means to an end wasn't the sort of trainer he would invest his time in. He didn't have the right, entirely, to police the trainers that were let out into the world-- though obviously, he could deny a pokemon if he wanted to-- but he wasn't keen on spending his own time helping them, when he had plenty of work to do. Besides, perhaps if the boy was lucky, he would learn something on this journey of his. Already moving away, Rowan set the tray down, and moved to go back into the back of the lab, and resume his work. He had plenty of things to do yet still.
╔═══════════════════════════════════════════════╗ It was clear that this professor wasn’t interested in helping Gaelio out much further than giving him a Pokemon. Scoffing as the professor dismissed him and carried on with his work the fledgling trainer shook his head and thought to himself, ‘he didn’t help her either, so I shouldn’t be too surprised that he refused to help me. But he is very similar to how she described him.’
Slipping his headphones back up onto his ears he turned his back to the working professor. A soft tune played in his ears, despite the high volume of the headphones the song still came through softly, more the composition than the volume. He felt that the professor should receive the same respect as he gave and didn’t think that a response was necessary at this point. Beginning out of the lab without saying much he decided it wouldn’t be worth it to get one more shot in, he’d be dead soon anyways. Leaving the lab’s doors he realized that these would have been the same steps that his sister took years ago when she began her journey. A small smile crept into the corner of his mouth as he opened the door to begin his journey.

Hands on her hips, Mel stared up at the lab, her blue eyes taking in the building. Honestly, she still had the posture of a police officer. Anyone looking at her would still strongly question whether she would be able to really ‘blend in’, and it was honestly a fair question. If her superiors saw her now, they would probably be questioning it.
But really, blending in wasn’t the point. And some part of her probably knew that. It wasn’t what she was keeping in the forefront of her mind, however. No, what was at the forefront of her mind was the rising crime rates, the new teams showing up every month, it seemed like, the countless reports of thefts, raids, and muggings, and the frustration of the force as it struggled to figure out how to get ahold of the tsunamis of crime that were crashing in all over the place. And the most common target? Trainers. So even if her superiors were asking her to take this break to… take some time to herself, she was going to try and use it as an opportunity to do a bit of personal, undercover investigation anyway.
Besides-- she thought, flashing a smirk as she glanced at the pokemon beside her-- she was more than set to take on whatever was to come. She and Z had been together for years, and had worked together and protected one another through countless situations. They were essentially telepathically linked, even when they weren't actually telepathically communicating. She might not have been able to train with him as much as either of them would have liked, but she’d had him since she found him in a gutter drain as a core cell back in Castelia City. He’d hunted down criminals and fought off villains with her, and he even went through her academy training with her in his alternate form. A lot had happened between the two of them over the years…
With one final deep breath, and a heavy exhalation, she strode into the lab. It was time to get her pokemon. She had to stop, however, when she heard a gentle thunk behind her. She turned to see Z pressed against the door frame, the fan behind his head not... quite at all fitting through. She smiled softly. "Still gettin' used to that form again, Z?" she asked with a sympathetic smile. The legend gave a low grumble, before pulling back, twisting, and sort of... throwing himself through the doorway. He slithered back up to his full height, righting himself after having gone sideways to fit through the frame. Mel rolled her eyes, glanced up at him, then directed her attention ahead of her, walking forward to try and find the Professor.
”H’oi! Professor! Professor Rowan? “ she called out, then lowered her voice a bit, a sheepish glance escaping her to look at Z, who, she could feel, was eying her out of the corner of his vision. Whatever that was—it was always hard to really tell where he was looking, save in his cell form, but she had learned to sort of… sense where his focus was. ”Ah, sorry to intrude, but I was hoping to get a chimchar…?” she added, looking back around, eyes searching for a sign of the Professor. Hopefully her boisterous entrance wouldn’t blockade her journey. She was… admittedly a little nervous – not that she wanted to concede to that or show it in anyway – and she tended to over compensate a bit when that happened. Like, say… getting loud.

As he heard the door to his lab opening, the older gentleman tore himself away from his research and rose from his desk, shortly emerging from the back a moment after the woman called out to him. "It's quite alright." The man said plainly, his leveled expression making it slightly difficult to get a feel for him. Rowan looked the woman over for a few moments, his gaze not focusing on any aspect in particular, but rather the woman as a whole. However, his attention was turned a bit towards the doorway that seemed to have a few cracks from behind the frame, as well as the serpent-like pokemon beside the woman who was likely the cause. He recognized it, of course--But made little comment, his tempered gaze returning to Mel. "I'll assume since you already have a pokemon like that with you, I don't need to explain the basics to you."
At that point, Rowan turned away, walking a few steps towards the space where the man kept supplies for starting trainers, gathering the essentials neatly on a metal tray. "You said you were here for a Chimchar, correct?" He reached over and retrieved a small, round orb, setting it down in a small cushion that would keep it from rolling around on the tray. Once it was all collected, he turned back and presented it to the girl, before lifting up the pokedex that was laid out. "I'll register it to you, and register you into the system, so that you can begin your journey," he began to explain. "Any pokemon you catch will be recorded into the pokedex, and their data will additionally help me and my colleagues in our research." Once the woman was properly registered in the systems, he held out the small device for the woman to take. "It's not a requirement, obviously. But me and my colleagues have incentives offered for people who accumulate a wide range of data. Data on Legendaries, like that Zygarde of yours, is particularly valuable, of course."

Mel smiled a proud sort of half smile as Rowan noticed Z, and gave a glance over to him before nodding, and looking back towards the professor. "Yeah, I think I know the basics've it all," she replied casually, dropping an arm to her side. She could feel a stir of excitement bubble up inside of her as she watched Rowan move off to start gathering things. "Yes, ah, yes please," she confirmed, bringing her hands together in front of her. She fidgeted some, but, trying to hide her nerves, quickly struck up a familiar posture instead, bringing her hands behind her back, instead, shoulders back and her feet slightly spaced. She took the objects he offered here, marveling at the generosity of the extra objects, and flashing a smile. "Thank you, Professor," she replied, putting the objects away, but keeping the pokeball in her hands. She held it between them, then looked up again to meet Rowan's gaze.
She stood, her breath a bit bated, and smiled as he mentioned registering her. Giving a nod, her excitement started to show, and the attempts at masquerading her nerves, of appearing professional, concise... melted away. "Alright, sir. Thank you," she agreed, watching just about every little movement he made. She flashed a smile to Z, who shifted, swaying a little in a serpentine motion, but both straightened and looked back to Rowan as he gave her the pokedex. She blinked a little in surprise, quirking her head to the side some as he mentioned the data being valuable, and looked over at Z. "Oh! Well... if you don't mind helping me register his information now, you're more than welcome to look at the data yourself," she offered, flashing a smile.
Rowan lifted his head, but then looked back to his computer. "If you register him, the information should be accessible in my databanks. It won't be necessary to review it immediately," he mused. Mel blinked. "Oh, well..." He looked back to her. "But I will be happy to show you how to register him as a pokemon of yours." She smiled again, nodding and handing the pokedex back to him, and moving over so she could watch, and follow what she was doing. Z stood back, observing the surroundings, but both had some part of their mind on the pokeball still clasped in one of Mel's hands. Their new teammate...

Yuu loved his work. He got to meet some of the most interesting people. And, on occasion, he was able to meet local gym leaders or others like them. No champions or elites so far, though. Shaking his head, Yuu refocused on getting the package to Professor Rowan before he got lost in far-off accomplishments. "Chi~!" Yuu looked behind him to see Baby floating behind him. She was really enjoying that balloon the lady on the train gave them. The little Chima had the balloon tied around her and she was using her wings to move forward so she could follow the freelancer. "Having fun back here?""Chima~!" That was a yes. It hard to miss her joy even if he hadn't asked; she made it so easy to just feel how she was feeling. Was that the correct way to put that? Yuu wasn't sure, but it was the best he could do.
Walking into the professor's lab, making sure Baby didn't get stuck in or behind the door, Yuu looked around. Well, he didn't see Rowan right away. "Professor Rowan? Delivery from Petalburg." Well, he certainly didn't mind waiting. At least he got to watch a few Turtwig play together. They were adorable! One of the little green turtles spotted him and walked over to examine him curiously. After a few eager sniffs, the Turtwig started to weave around and between his ankles. "Aw. Aren't you a little cutie." Yuu set the box down and knelt to pet the Turtwig, gently rubbing one of its leaves on its head. "Turrrrr~!" Turtwig seemed to love the rub as it immediately let itself fall onto its side. "So cute~.""Chi...." Baby "flew" over and stared at Yuu and the Turtwig with an irritated look in her eyes, but Yuu failed to notice as he kept his attention on the leafy turtle.

"I'll be right out," a gruff voice called from the back. Rowan was working on a bit of work, and he was quickly trying to finish it before more trainers came swarming in for their first pokemon. A delivery, however, wasn't typically quite as time consuming, but you never know when things could get started. By the time he had finished, it seemed the young man bringing the package had been greeted by a few of the pokemon he had let out to stretch their legs. He walked over, hands behind his back, looking at the young man with the turtwig. "... It seems to have taken a shine to you," he remarked, then shifted his gaze. "You said you had a delivery?"
Yuu looked up at the professor that came to greet him. "Really? Well, he's adorable. Trainers are lucky to have cuties like Turtwig." Though, how trainers chose starters when they were all cute, Yuu wasn't quite sure. It seemed impossible. Picking up the box again, he looked up at the older gentleman with a smile. "Sure do. From one of Norman's assistants. Not sure what it is, though." He really didn't need to know either; that wasn't why he was hired after all. It was kind of heavy. Binders and folders for his research probably. Yuu looked back down when Turtwig laid across his foot. "...I don't suppose I can take the Turtwig with me?" He wasn't a trainer, but even non-trainers had Pokémon and Yuu liked the Grass-type too much to not ask.

Rowan nodded, eying the boy. "It's certainly a benefit to taking on the task, I suppose," he remarked. There was something in his gaze, something analyzing, like he was assessing something. It was... entirely likely that was just how he always looked, however. He was one of, if not the, more professional of the Professors, after all. He nodded, moving over to take the package, looking it over and then moving over towards his desk. "Thank you," he remarked, still gazing at it curiously, before setting it down. He placed a hand on the desk and looked over as the young man asked for the pokemon, his expression ambiguous and difficult to read once more. "... I suppose that would be alright," he admitted. The important thing was the bond between a pokemon and it's trainer, and these two seemed to already be forming that. "If you wish to get registered as an official trainer, you're always welcome to come get a pokedex, too," he added, moving over to get a pokeball -- the one that belonged to the turtwig, in fact -- and walk over to the boy. "Or you can simply message me, and I can register it for you and send it your way." He stopped, one hand held behind his back, as the other extended to offer the pokeball to him. "Here you are."

Yuu watched Rowan take the box and set it on a desk. "Anytime!" Yuu looked down at Baby and Turtwig, both sniffing each other curiously. He hoped they got along, but seeing as Baby looked upset at the possibility of Turtwig coming home with him, it'd probably take time. She was so jealous. It was a good thing Yuu was used to it and wasn't too bothered. She'd warm up to Turtwig eventually. Rowan suddenly gave him permission to take the Turtwig and Yuu beamed. That was great! When asked about being a trainer, the youth frowned. "Ah....I'll have to think about that bit." Being a trainer could be risky for him, but it wasn't like he'd never considered it. Yuu took the Pokéball the professor held out. "Thanks! If I make up my mind, I'll give you a call." And, he would seriously consider the offer, too. Before he made any decisions, of course, Yuu wanted to ask Takano and his wife for their advice. See if they worried about the risk or if the risk would be worth it. "See you around, Professor! Alright, you two, let's go." Yuu picked Turtwig up as Baby latched onto his shoulder. She looked tired from all the flapping she did since getting the balloon. Poor little thing.

► For months Saru had prepared for this moment. The day he got his official trainers license. Battling pokemon at the temple with passing trainers had been one thing but to officially mark his claim as a challenger to the Elite Four and thus sighting his sights on the champions throne was another entirely. No other monk in recorded history had done such a thing. Battling was one thing they all did but nothing to set to high a goal. But no longer was he content to remain as he was and further himself in the spiritual. He needed this as much as he wanted the challenge it entailed. Getting permission had been the hard part, at least up till now.
He kept three pokemon earned from his time within the temple, Darmanitan, Mankey and an Aipom. Each a symbol of himself as much as an extension of his desires. Each with the same goal. To overcome the next challenge set before them. "Mankey, remember what i said before. Calm and in control. This is a very special person we're about to meet." Saru said "Praiss!" The simeon pokemon replied hanging onto its trainers shoulders. Its dirty green fur standing out in stark contrasts to Saru's white robes. At his feet kept pass a silent black Darmanitan and from his staff hung an Aipom who playfully tugged at the ornamental tassel tied to the held of his sword.
"Pardon the intrusion professor. May i steal you away from your research for but a moment sir?" Saru called out stepping into the mans labs holding the door open with the but of his staff long enough for his Darmanitan to follow before letting the door close. Aipom and Mankey kept quite but both perked up curios of their new surroundings. Saru avoided such technological advancements such as those scattered around the lab.
