Click to show.Matespritship and Moirallegiance are grouped together into red romance, relationships based on strong positive emotions, while Kismesissitude ♠, and Auspistice are grouped into black romance, relationships based on strong negative emotions.

Matespritship and Kismesissitude ♠ are linked to the traditional human views of desire, attraction, and romance. They are known as concupiscent relationships. Moirallegiance and Auspisticism , the conciliatory relationships, are still considered to be just as intimate - albeit aromantic/asexual in nature.

All quadrants are seen as equally important, healthy, and normal for a troll to experience.

Matespritship is the traditional feelings of love that humans associate with romance. It is the common situation where two trolls feel both romantic and physical attraction towards each other. Sometimes young trolls who begin as Moirails do eventually grow to become Matesprits as they become older and more aware of their emotions, but it is generally considered separate. Trolls who form a love/hate relationship will occasionally flicker between Matespritship and Kismesissitude, but will eventually either settle into one of the two quadrants, or an Auspistice will be found to settle the problem. Matespritship is one of the two breeding quadrants.

Moirallegiance is the feeling of best friends, and is usually linked to two trolls who feel pity in some way for each other. It is seen as an aromantic/asexual relationship, and still follows the same level of intimacy and sanctity as the other relationships. Two trolls who are Moirals will always look out for each other, will balance each other's personality out, and basically be the other half to their soul, the yin to their yang. The most important job a Moiral has is to keep their partner calm, healthy, stable and safe, both mentally and physically. Most often trolls who form Moirallegiance tend to fall under the rule of 'opposites attract', in that each tends to make up for the other's shortcomings with their own strengths.

Kismesissitude is hate-love, the opposite of Matespritship. The feeling of anger towards another, yet also attraction and interest, Kismesissitude is closest to the human idea of arch-rivals. Most often, your Kismesis will push your troll to grow, become stronger, and accomplish more via competition, and vice versa. Trolls will occasionally flicker between Matespritship and Kismesissitude, but will eventually either settle into one of the two quadrants, or an Auspistice will be found to settle the problem. It is frowned upon to kill your Kismesis, as then there is no more relationship. Kismesissitudeis one of the two breeding quadrants.

Auspisticism is the most complicated, and is the act of facilitating, or peace-keeping between two other trolls who have a volatile and unstable relationship, keeping it functional and healthy. One troll who wants a Moiral and another who wants a Matesprit, both expecting a different thing out of their relationship, needs a Auspistice to talk things out between them and keep their relationship in one of the two quadrants. It is seen as an aromantic/asexual relationship, and still follows the same level of intimacy and sanctity as the other relationships. Another common use of this role is to prevent trolls with more aggressive natures from constantly forming Kismesis rivalries with every troll they meet, to prevent infidelity. Having an Auspistice in your life is not considered as vital as the other three quadrants, but for trolls who have difficulty managing their other quadrants, finding a troll to serve this function is a necessity.
