Lyall sprinted onto the field, after having searched for the main doors for quite some time. He had quite hoped to be early, but it seemed things were already starting up. He coughed quietly, his breath in a mild wheeze. He looked around and found the person he figured to be in charge, one he knew to be a graduating student. That meant she was probably leader... right? He coughed again, then pushed his glasses up his nose. "I'm sorry I'm late, Miss! I tried to be early, but I got a little lost somewhere on floor two. I'll try to have better timing next time!" He blushed a bit, then filled out the paper in his neat print. Once he was done, he offered it over, a sheepish grin on his face. Hopefully she wouldn't be angry at him!

Corabell dropped down for a moment as the new players ran onto the field. "Okay, Harper, you're playing beater on Black team, Lyall, chaser on Yellow team. Grab a broom and get in the air!" she said quickly, though she spared a moment to give both an encouraging grin before she shot back to her post in front of the goals.

Lyall smiled at the lady when she simply gave him a spot on the practice team. He grabbed one of the brooms, then flew up, a little wobbly. He figured out which were his team members, and flew after them, though a bit slowly. He had his little "sport strap" to hold his glasses on, but he really wasn't sure how well it would do at high speeds in the air. He watched the Captain throw the ball up, and he knew it to be toss-up, thanks to the Quidditch book he'd read over the summer. He had read a lot that summer. Hopefully he could win against the older girl!

Lyall hurriedly dove for the ball against the older student, and almost dropped the ball in utter surprise when he actually had managed to nab it. He hurried to secure it, then he went off toward the goals. He was still a bit wobbly, but at least he could blame the fact that he was trying to fly one-handed. This was really hard to do, after all, to be distracted in mid-air. He wiggled a bit as he flew, determined to hold tight to the quaffle for his team!

What the?! Iris jerked back from the erratic flight of the new chaser-boy, and as a result, lost the tossup. She huffed, looking for all the world like an affronted cat, then set after the wobbly boy, trying to anticipate his bobbing flight to steal the quaffle back.

Lyall was flying along, albeit not very fast, when the fourth year swiped the Quaffle away from him. "Oh... oh no!" He lit up another grin, then turned awkwardly, then chased after her. He was starting to get a bit better at flying in a straight line. He flew up as close to her as he could, then reached out to try and take the ball back. Maybe he'd be lucky! If not, he could always try again!

Alice smiled brightly as she heard the teams. Looked like Jasper would be looking out for her again. It appeared that it would be a three way battle for the snitch which worked for Alice. She figured she already knew who was getting the spot anyways. Jess was the best seeker they had if she wasn't given the spot they'd all gone mental. Rushing off at the start of try-outs Alice started looking for the golden snitch.

Jasper was glad he didn't have to aim for Alice. It was something he never liked having to do. However at the start of the try-out game he had two options. One he could go after Jess or two he could go after Iris. Both were pretty strong players. Knowing that Jess could be targetted by either team he decided to go for Iris first. Might as well help Corabell, not that she needed it.

Alice spotted the snitch and was gone like a light. She knew she could do this, she knew she could stand up against those tougher players like Jess. Even though Alice only started playing to see what Jasper saw in the game she wanted to try. As it sat right now the Hufflepuff thought about quitting but then realized her team needed her with only two Seekers on the team. It seemed this year things might just be different with the new first year trying-out as Seeker.
