Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Was that... A stitch in her side? She drew a haggard breath and focused on the feeding pens ahead. She was close now... She couldn't give up. Rossoth was having a little trouble of his own- she didn't wanna disappoint him.

2-3. Halfway through! At least, you think you're about halfway through. You're really getting winded now, and it is very tempting to slow down or stop. Still, you push on. You're getting close to the feeding pens--and need to encourage your dragon to keep running so they don't stop and scare the herdbeasts. If you feel a little hungry, and the herdbeasts look a little tasty, you know fully that's just your dragon's doing! [+1 point]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Suddenly her feet gave way, and Ke'res toppled over. Face buried in mud, the young woman coughed and spluttered. _Ewwww_. No. This was not good. She picked herself up, wiping mud from her face. She started running again, privately wondering if this was really worth the effort.

10. You fall right into a puddle. You're not even sure what caused you to slip, but you are wet and muddy now. Gross! (If you roll this a second time in any of the prompts, you find mud going into cracks you weren't even aware you had Eww!. If you roll this a third time, you're going to catch a cold come the next morning!

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

She struggled. Ke'res wondered if anybody else felt that way. Certainly some of her fellow weyrlings looked a little muddy. She had to keep moving forwards... The beach was so close now!

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Rossoth's enthusiasm had dwindled to nothing. Ke'res realised he had almost given up. Guilt?

{It's not your fault, dear! Keep running. I'm sure Guarath forgives you!}

Rossoth sighed as he peered around, and began to trudge forwards. This really was pointless, and he had no confidence in the weyrlingmasters for picking this exercise. Wouldn't it have been better to practice drills in the wet?

1. Your dragon does not want to do this. Nope. Perhaps they're just distracted, perhaps they're feeling lazy, they actually sit down and start to curl up. Unfortunately, your rider has to try to urge them to go--which means they have to pause in their own jog to get their dragonet going. [-5 points]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

It was almost over. Running was cathartic, in a way, despite the pumping blood and rush of endorphins. It allowed her to switch off an overly noisy brain and focus on the moment. She hoped Rossoth felt similarly.

2-3. You were born to run! At least, that's how you're feeling. You're not sure how but you find yourself feeling the need to sprint. Now's the time, right? The end is right there. Let's give it our all and sprint as fast as we can! [+2 Points] If you're of an Active fitness level, sprinting comes naturally. Gain an extra point. [+1 active]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Rossoth was with her, sending her encouragement. Her feet carried her forwards as a beaming smile split her face. Let the rain come down: here she was free, with her beloved dragon.

/Keep it up, KelMine. This is our time to triumph./

4-5. You can see the end is in sight. You've almost made it! If you can just find some way to push on! Thankfully, your dragon sends all the support, comfort, and encouragement you need. With a surge of adrenaline, you make it down to the beach water, stumbling as you past along. [+3 points] If you're in Poor Shape, gain an extra point form sheer willpower (and dragon's encouragement) [+1]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

Her chest /burned/. Ke'res gasped as tears stung her eyes, mingling with the rain. Air was so difficult to come by despite its plenitude. She felt Rossoth croon in the distance, and heard an echo from Orioth. She couldn't give up. Not now. Not when they were so close.

/That's right. I'm right here with you, my dear./

6-7. You might have been going on along with a steady clip, but you're feeling the burn now. Your chest is tight, you're gasping for air, but the end is so close. The sooner you're over, the better. Unfortunately, your body seems to give out near the end. You drop into a walk, or stop completely as you gasp for breath. Your dragon and Orioth croon encouragement, even as you strive to keep on moving. [+1 Point] If you're of Average fitness, earn an extra point since it's easier to recuperate and recover. Time to get moving to finish this up! [+1 Point]

Ke'res of Brown Rossoth

For a moment, triumph rushed through both of them. It was a glorious but fleeting moment, because Rossoth spied something that gave expression to his fiendish joy and vindictiveness: /a giant puddle/. How dare they make them run in the rain, when they could be practicing more practical things!

He leapt, landing all four limbs in the rather large body of water. Nearby, another pair cried out in horror, and Ke'res found herself hurrying to catch up. "Sorry! So sorry!" She gasped, wanting to make amends but also finish the race. So close. So close Rossoth!

8-9. Your dragon is too distracted by puddles to want to race. Quote the weyrling above you, and start splashing them with mud and water. This does wind up affecting both your own rider and the fellow weyrling. Your rider might be upset (or distracted) and the weyrling you just splashed might be feeling irate, or some other emotion. You're all even more soaked. Boo. [You both lose -2 points]
