She had been born on the sand but her family was not from here. Her mother had been born and raised in the pridelands and her father, he was a traveller, he’d roamed the world and seen every inch of it.

Her mother had told her tales of the pridelands, that it was a lush beautiful place, she had always told her stories of the past and the future, though the stories of the future were always a bit vague, they were fairytales that felt true and false at the same time.

She still lived in her families den, despite the fact that she was an adult now she hadn’t decided what to do with her life. It was hard. Her twin had decided early on that she would follow in their fathers footsteps. She found it hard to make that decision. She’d been having a fairly long sleep when her mother woke her from her slumber and told her to go down to the water for a swim.

The young butterfly marked lioness hadn’t seen any issue with this so she had gotten to her paws and trotted down the pale sand. Rather than jumping straight in to the cool water though she stood at the waters edge, the tide touched at her paws gently and she closed her eyes, the warm sun caressed her fur and she took a few long, soothing breaths, she breifly wondered why her mother had sent her down to the waters edge but let the thought drift away as she simply relaxed and let the soothing waters slowly raise up to her ankles.
