It didn't take long enough for him to realize there was little bits of flooring to step on before getting stuck in the mushy and gooey parts of the floor. Being totally grossed out, Cynril went out of the basement and avoided anyone else who was in the neighboring block.

She was still organizing her things, glad there was no more insect silk traps. "Hey!" Avvisi said as she saw Kwelin. "There you are! You musta seen something real interesting, huh?"

Speaking of which... Makkah had found something. "What did you get, Makkah?" Avvisi asked as she carefully made her way over to the purpleblood. Not carefully enough... apparently... As the girl tripped. It wasn't that big of a thing, she hadn't gotten hurt or anything. "You sure you want me to hold that?" The tealblood asked with a nervous laugh. "Quills? More like clumsy..."

Kwelin finds:
Squeakbeast trap
Empty, and broken. Viva la resistance!

"This place is in shambles. They're going to make more ghosts than they find, with all the holes in the floor." Kwelin remarked grumpily as he continued exploring with his companions. It was a smart choice to come to the library as it had probably also served as the inhabitant's study. They would be able to find some good information here. He squatted to look under some shelves and sighed as he found an empty squeakbeast trap.

"Be careful touching anything. I doubt they're going to help us if we get hurt." The lack of medical staff on hand was an obvious sign to him. He kept a close eye on Philip as they searched. The brownblood was the most curious one of the group in his opinion and thus, the most dangerous.

Makkah finds:

A fine leather-bound notebook packed with technicolor ravings so cursive and adjective-laden, it's nearly impossible to parse. Closer inspection yields eyestrain and an especially poetic hit list. Some of the names are recognizable from the news.

Quella Fehtan

Quella had managed to reunite with the wigglers back at the lawnring. She'd been worried, but slowly, one by one, they'd all filtered back out of the catacombs without any serious injury. Quella'd scooped each of them up i a hug as soon as she'd seen them, and corralled them back together.

Slowly, they made their way back through pitfalls of the library. "Watch your step," the blueblood said with a wink as she crossed over a rickety plank. She had almost completely crossed before she heard the telltale signs of snapping wood. "Careful!" the blueblood called out as she vaulted to the other side of the gap.

She looked around for something she could bridge the gap with, but her party of wigglers was already finding another way across. She looked at them with a mixture of admiration and worry, a little grin on her face. They were a good pack.

Being hugged wasn't on Ely's list of things to do today but hey, the sentiment was appreciated. Especially since oh GOD was this lady strong! And good at squishing. At the hug she couldn't help but giggle, and hug her back. "Thank you, let's continue shall we?" Maybe coming here wasn't such a bad idea.

Even after Quella's crossing had gone south (as far south as a plank of wood crumbling into the abyss could be), Eiylas was determined to not be outdone. "This way guys!" she piped up, pointing to a fallen picture frame that perfectly fell for safe crossing. Kinda. There was a lot of glass, but thats what shoes were for right?

Careful to tip-toe past the glass, she hopped up onto the other side next to Quella and grinned, turning to face the other two children. "It should be steady enough! Just be careful, okay?" Hopefully they wouldn't get lost again...

3. OBSTACLE: You pick up what appears to be a semi-intact book and it dissolves in your hands.

Floren wasn't particularly touch averse but he did not exactly like getting almost crushed in a hug by someone he didn't know. Not that he was going to say anything about it, though. As the group made their way back into the library, he was determined not to get dragged into some terrible trap again and fall. Quella seemed to have other plans. He winced slightly as the floor gave way, but found a safer path around the new hole in the floor anyway. Poor Skoli, he was certainly having a time navigating this hive...

"Yes... safe enough.." He sighed, taking a moment to look around when he'd reached the other two. A book caught his eye- curious he went to pick it up, but it dissolved immediately. Gross. "These don't seem to be particularly useful..."

      Kerras Farron

Determined but cautious after their last excursion, Kerras picked their way through the wreckage. Since they had fallen into the catacombs, the library appeared to be in even a worse state than before. Several shelves lay toppled across the floor, and a yawning pit opened in the centre of the block. The tealblood made sure to give it a wide berth.

As they searched between the shelves, they found a large, slightly crumpled, cardboard box trapped beneath the toppled book case. Strangely unsinged. “Hm...!” Kerras grabbed hold of the thing, and with some effort they managed to tug it free. It was empty, but of generous size. They could easily fit inside it laying down—or standing up, depending on how it was oriented—with plenty of room to spare. Kerras frowned, contemplative. Then they stepped in side it, looking up to the sides of the box for any kind of clue.

“Why would someone throw away an empty box all the way in here?”

Quella Fehtan

"Hmm". Quella was caught in a little corner after she'd crossed the pit, separated from the other young trolls she was supposed to be looking after. She scratched her hed and glanced down into the yawning hole, wondering how to get back to the rest of the group. As she did so, she definitely felt something push her in the lower back. She stumbled, caught off balance.

"Hey!" That was the second time! There was DEFINITELY something here, and it was pushing her all over the place! Off-balance, she stumbled towards the chasm, just barely managing to get her feet underneath her and jump before she fell.

She soared over the pit, slamming heavy on the far side. The entire room shook a bit as she landed, but the floor mercifully stayed mostly together. She whipped around, trying to get a glimpse of whatever had pushed her, but there was nothing there. Nothing at all.

"Did any of you see that?" she called out, looking at wigglers. "Something definitely pushed me." She grinned, her instincts starting to get a little on edge now. That was just the way she liked it. "Now we're starting to get somewhere. Come on! I know you're there somewhere!" she yelled to the surrounding room. The room said nothing.

"Not at all, not at all..." Eiylas was poking her nose where it generally did not belong, aka the various shelves that Floren had become interested in. While she did not manage to find a book that stayed together, another object caught her eye. "Mmm?" As she pulled it out, various other items toppled to the floor. However, she seemed satisfied with her findings. Clutching it to her chest, she smiles and turned to her fellow team mates...

Floren was having no luck, Kerras had found a cardboard box (which admittedly, kind of fun to play with), and as for Quella well... she was just jumping around like crazy. "Are you sure you aren't imagining things? I think a ghost would do more than push you invisibly!" Or at least, that's what she'd do if she were a ghost. You know. Haunt people and stuff, make her presence well known. She couldn't help but crack a little joke to Kerras as well. "Be careful! The box may have a ghost! The box ghost!" For some reason that felt familiar and funny, though she couldn't place her finger on it... perhaps it was some joke destined for another universe.

"That box seems kind of unruly to be carrying around..." Floren dusted his hands off as he looked over the box Kerras had found. Quella was making such a ruckus- he turned his attention to watching her move about. Admittedly something did seem fishy about the way she'd just moved but for all he knew she was just trying to play a trick on them. Seemed like something she might do.

"If they're angry ghosts perhaps it was an attempt at harming her?" Floren offered up his explanation anyway, deciding to entertain the possibility. He picked his way around the hole and spotted something that seemed like it could be interesting. He shuffled on over and-- oh, gross.

"...There isn't anything good over here." He scrunched his nose up and turned to return back to the group. "Did you find something interesting, Eiylas?"

      Kerras Farron

“Hm...” Kerras considered Eiylas' words. They examined the box with fresh interest, spinning themself in a circle. Nothing appeared to be out of place. Grabbing ahold of the sides, they began to emerge. “I don't see any—!” The flaps of the box suddenly swung shut, with the tealblood still inside. They pounded against the sides.

“It's stuck!” came a muffled voice. “I can't get out!” Through the narrow crack, Kerras saw Eiylas hurrying to help. As soon as she was close enough, they grabbed the purpleblood through the gap and pulled her inside the box with them. “Hm, that's strange. Doesn't seem like it's stuck any more.” They smiled at her stunned expression, then gently touched the end of her nose. “Got you!”

Exiting the box, Kerras stepped aside and held one flap open for Eiylas. “Everything's fine,” they called to Floren in Quella, in case their stunt had alarmed either of them. “Still it's pretty weird. I'm sure a strong troll like Quella wouldn't have a problem carrying it though.”

With the possibilities for the box exhausted for the time being, Kerras went on to look for other clues. Their substitute lusus trailed behind them, regarding the charred shelves with a look of scepticism. Or maybe that was hunger. Either way, it kept close to Kerras' heels, until it fell through a small gap in the floorboards.

A squeak alerted Kerras to the danger. The podling's girth kept it from slipping all the way through, but its arms wiggled helplessly in the air, too stubby to do anything. The tealblood hurried back over to it, gently lifting it out of the hole. They placed it back on the ground beside them. “There, all be...” The floor suddenly let out a groan and Kerras stiffened. It gave a lurch, dropping them several inches. They crawled forward, as the floor continued to buckle beneath them. Then all it once, it fell away.
