Pocketing the card, Austri crossed her arms and looked at them all dead in the eye. "We are not engaging~" She stated firmly— But she would keep the card key as a memoir. With that, the greenblood shuffled forward, moving to scout out one of these ways, only to find it led no where. "No go, turn back!"

Welp. Apparently that route was bust. Given that he was not in the mood to get a ceiling to crash on him again, Mahmud was more than happy to take her word for it and just walk off down another hallway. This one was also apparently empty, but there were so many possibilities. Hopefully good ones. Oh gog he was jinxing it again, wasn't he?
Soon enough, Mahmud was lost in his own thoughts debating whether thinking about being a jinx was a sign that he was, or a self fulfilling prophecy.
"Austri did you pick this route on purpose." Deimos sighed as the sounds of shuffling bodies reached his ears. "That other route prolly wasn't even shitty was it." He didn't really trust her not to just pick shitty routes to put the rest of them through hell. Or maybe he was just being exceedingly pissy with how many zombies they'd had to fight their way through.

There was every intent to kill, honest. Mahmud had ran headfirst towards the hoard along with everyone else, ready to take them down. And then he just... froze. Something in him screamed and begged for him to stop, and Mahmud was powerless to fight it.
Nope. No more. Thats what his body was trying to tell him. Dude shut the ******** up we have to do this or we die! was his response.
So again he tried to run towards the enemy, but again he stopped after a few steps. Something kept holding him back. He didn't know... no. He knew exactly what, but there was no time for this!
Stop fighting, you're killing! his body screamed at him. And the sad part was it was right. He was, he had been this whole time, but was trying to push away those thoughts until this mission was said and done. He had been doing fine up until now. So why was now different?
"Austri what the ********> It was one thing when Forera had picked him up and thrown him, and another when she decided to kick him into the oncoming horde. Anger spiking, he pushed himself up, shoving one of the creatures violently into another. "You're bein' the prissy b***h, Austri. ********' save it for after the flagship." He flipped her off. Totally dignified. He turned to Mahmud, still frozen.
"Mahmud, you gotta actually hit them if you wanna kill 'em!" Deimos had only really noticed Mahmud stopping, but not the shaking. It was hard to pay attention to details like that when there was a shambling horde coming at them. He struck daywalker after daywalker, wincing as a few of them managed to claw at his suit. It had better not tear- he didn't want to risk that!

What was he doing?!? After avoiding a harsh hit from the nearest daywalker, Austri turned to glare at the panicking Mahmud, feeling her arms begin to feel pained. "What the hell are you doing?!" Austri exclaimed, no trace of her usual amusement tucked in her words. She slid her arms behind her back like she used to back when she self trained herself, preparing. "If you're not gonna do anything, I'm just gonna have to teach you how it's done."

Mahmud tried very hard to argue this point but really... couldn't. Especially in front of Austri, whom he had made a very public show about non-violence towards before. Now here he was, killing things left and right, and what? To impress her? To protect people that could easily protect themselves? Why was he even fighting, other than to save his own cowardly a**?
At this point he continued to shake, and now clutched at his head with his hands, screwdrivers long since clattered to the floor.
Good god, how many things had he killed and felt nothing for? Was it really that easy now that he killed a person to shut it off? But this was how trolls were supposed to be, why did this tear him up so much?
All the while his brain kept chanting Useless! Useless! Useless! It was all very distracting.
Swallowing hard, Mahmud closed his eyes as he felt a wave of something come over him, something he knew very well but didn't have words to put for. No no no, not in front of these people! He couldn't feel that despair in front of them.
He shut his eyes hard and clutched tighter at his hair, pulling so hard his knuckles went white, and continued to tremble as he tried to ride out this feeling.

He just kept acting more and more like a little b***h. What was he, scared? Of zombies? There were scarier things out there, like maybe, the wall climbing lusi from their other ships. Or maybe he just felt guilty. Hah, she never felt guilty. Especially not over the things she willingly chose to do. These thoughts coursed through her mind as she brutally wrecked the last of the zombies, having removed a leg weight beforehand. The greenblood stood up straight, looking directly at Mahmud. "Take a page out of my book, Mahmud." She moved onward.

Mahmud was just standing there- doing nothing. Austri took out the last of them, gloating of course. He rolled his eyes at her. "Sure sure, just keep that performance up huh?" Dei opted to make his way across the fallen bodies to go stand next to Mahmud, "hey, c'mon. We gotta move." He motioned for Mahmud to follow, then headed further down the corridor.

Caiden frowned at Austri. She was doing well, sure! But she wasnt exactly acting like a team leader and keeping the group together. "Maybe, uh maybe dont take a page from her book..." Caiden said to Mahmud, "Her books kinda.. well, lets just say its a book i would leave out in the rain and let mold..."

Shut down almost completely by this point, Mahmud only looked up long enough to count their opponents at hand. "Mm..." Jeez how useful could he really be, after melting down like that in front of other people? He slowly picked at a scab on his arm while he studied the daywalkers and finally muttered "At least 30 of them." There was an awkward pause before he took a step backwards for the others to go first. If he was going to wuss out, he may as well not get in other people's ways. If he was going to be useless, he may as well keep out of better people's paths.
