I might not really know how I managed to get to be a gym leader, but I promise, I don't mess around in my battles!" she said, pulling out a pokeball, and holding it up. "Come on out, Meditite!" She tossed the ball up, releasing the pokemon, who landed on his feet, btu began to glow with psychic energy, his feet folding together as he hovered in mid air, just above the ground.

Somehow, it was intimidating facing an opponent that could fight even without Pokemon. Maylene didn't seem too unapproachable though, and she was pretty young, so Riley kept her confidence high. "I don't plan on messin' around either!" That being said, Riley stared at the Meditite. "That doesn't look...fighting?" It looked like it might be a psychic type or something. "If that's the case, come on out, Seul!" Her Absol leaped forth, eyeing the Meditite squarely. "Let's start off with a Dark Pulse!" Riley wasn't sure if it would do extra damage, but at the very least she could test out what Maylene's Meditite could do while doing a bit of damage.

She winced, though, her knees bending as she dropped down, placing her hands on her ears at the sound her pokemon created, however, and her pokemon did the same. "Ah!" "Tii!" She straightened up, shaking her head, standing tall with her hands balled into fists by her side. "Let's applaud that little performance with another Drain Punch, Meditite!" she called. Maylene looked thoughtful as Meditite took the hit, but then grinned, placing her hands on her hips. "Meditite, you know what to do to end this quickly!" she instructed. "Ti! Medi!" The pokemon thrust its hands into the ground, boulders bursting from the gym floor, piling on top of the bad-luck pokemon.
With Seul's speed lowered from the attack, Meditite rushed forward, pulling its arm back for one last, final attack, regaining the same HP. But that cold sensation in its stomach was only growing...

Riley wasn't too concerned about Seul getting tripped up by the rocks- after all, she pulled out his pokeball and returned him, sending out a new pokemon. "Good job, Seul, but Niko's got this now!" The wolf leaped into Seul's place, barking angrily when the Meditite punched him. He came out to have a good time, and was honestly feeling so attacked right now. "To the shadows, Niko!" Riley cried. Niko leaped forward and his body disappeared into a puff of shadow.

She stepped back, formulating a strategy, but clearly not resigning. She still didn't know what the rest of the girl's pokemon's moves were, let alone the rest of her team... "Use another Stregth attack, Machoke!" she instructed, after the pokemon had taken the static attack, and shaken it off.

I can safely say at this point I'm going for an RNG Shutdown. I'll almost be disappointed if anything turns out in my favor, lol I have a feeling they're just going to be chipping away at each other for a few rounds
Riley, unaware of the Machoke's guts ability, was hoping for a paralysis on the Machoke. Once she got that, Niko could switch to doing a bit more damage with his Shadow Force attack. Unfortunately the Machoke was limber as ever after his last attack. "Keep at it Niko!" Too bad the Machoke couldn't throw a thunderpunch to power Niko up.
